The ambiance is very nice; with a lot of plants, surf boards, and outdoor lighting. The staff, Juan and Arnulfo, were very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything on menu sounded so good, it was hard to decide what to get. To drink, I got the vanilla cream cold brew. I decided on the crispy pork belly and smoked gouda grits with soy marinated egg. It was delicious! The skin of the pork belly was crispy and the fatty part just melts in your mouth. The grits had a nice smokey flavor with a sweet finish. The egg was nicely marinated and yolky just like at Japanese restaurants. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu. read more

3.5/5 so rounding up to 4. Usually we're in Liberty station for public market but it was early on a Sunday morning and that wasn't open. We ate here instead and ordered the short rib Bennie and meatloaf hash. The Bennie was ok, I wish there was a better flavor to it all, but it really wasn't memorable. Also, I'm used to short ribs really being able to fall apart and be soft but this was kind of tough like it needed more time cooking. It was decent though, so 3/5. I didn't like that it looked like it was just thrown together in the to-go box. We literally ate it at the tables right outside so I don't know how it got so messed up that the eggs were just tossed on the sides. Meatloaf hash had great flavor. So this was my fiancés order and I found myself picking more off of his meal than mine lol. Who knew pesto and meatloaf would be so good for breakfast? 4/5. I did also order a kombucha they had on tap. The flavor was passion orange guava, but I don't think that flavor really came through. Probably would not order this one again. Came here for our Valentine's day brunch and loved our food!  We sat outside with our 4-legged babies and they had ample space to explore the area and say hi to our dining neighbors.  I ordered a chicken sandwich with a side salad while my husband opted for breakfast.     His breakfast sushi was pretty unique but kinda messy to eat.  Everything we ordered was delicious and we definitely had to pack up most of it to-go.  I appreciate that the tables aren't placed too close together.  You can see what the other diners are eating but you're not bumping elbows. read more

This restaurant has the absolutely most delicious French toast. This is one of our favorite breakfast place in San Diego. The fries they have are mouthwatering and just perfectly cooked. This is a small breakfast place in liberty station! It is an enclosed patio with heaters so it is nice and cozy. I loved how they had gluten free options and different coffee sizes! I ordered the gluten free French toast with some eggs and bacon and a salted caramel latte. The gluten free French toast was a little crumbly but tasted good. The eggs and bacon were really good. The waiter was attentive and was able to split the bill for us by item no problem. It's been a long time since I've eaten at Fig Tree, so when a friend suggested brunch here, I was happy to return. Ambiance- 4 stars. Loud because of the music and all the customers. I miss the ambiance of the smaller Hillcrest location which closed. Food - 5 stars. I ordered the grits and pork belly. The saltiness of the pork belly was a perfect compliment to the creamy grits. The eggs were executed well with a soft yolk . The dish arrived hot and was well balanced. I also ordered the antioxidant flight which was fun to drink. Service - 4 stars. This is my second time here and I think I would come again. Next time I come I want to try one of their coffees or lattes! They seem to be a popular option and they look delicious. I got the breakfast burrito, which I got last time. I was disapointed because they are suppose to have avocados but mine had maybe a TINY bit of avocado, just to say that it's in there. I don't think there was even a total of a slice of avocado inside! The service was good though. I was sitting there for maybe 10/15 minutes waiting for a friend, so I appreciate them letting me sit for a bit before my friend showed up. They are pretty attentive I would say. Today I played hooky at work and called in sick. First thing on my mind was having some kind of delicious meal. I remembered a chicken sandwich I seen posted on Instagram. Let me just say the picture was false advertising. It was tiny!! Was good I'll give it that the flavor was nice with the garlic aioli. I dipped my fries in it that's how good. Hubby got the French toast and rosemary potatoes woozers that was pretty damn delicious. Bread was so soft and those potatoes are gonna be the reason I come back. Truffles fries were okay I cleared my plate. My complaint for this place was the service. From checking in we were told 20 minute wait they forgot about us. Once seated they took forever to get our order. Once we ordered we noticed everyone around us who came after us had their food. I finally had to say something. Magically here comes are lukewarm food. We were staying in the area and decided to check this place out given it has so many good reviews. We did not have a good experience. We waited about 30min for a table for 4 which was fine with us, since it was a holiday. Food was ok only. Everyone had raved about the Benedict and we do love our Benedicts but the one here was not good. The hollandaise tasted odd. One of our dishes also came without the aioli and it took us awhile to get a server to help us with that. Another of our dish had egg shells in it. We will not be returning. Wonderful! It's a really cool place, and the menu is unique. I tried the rose latte and the veggie omlette, but didn't like them much. They were a bit bitter. Meh. I was super excited to come back here for brunch after loving my experience with the one in Hillcrest (closed). But unfortunately, it was just meh. There was a 45 minute wait. We came to Fig Tree Cafe for the first time on Sunday 01/21/2024. I was happy to find out that it wasn't crazy packed at about 9:30 ish in the morning. It was a little rainy out but it didn't put a damper on our experience. The location is somewhat on the smaller side but it is decorated so cute and comfortable. Very San Diego like. I loved all of the hanging surfboards & the cups the hot drinks come in! I had the Berry Sweet French Toast and it was nothing short of amazing. I also ordered a hot chocolate which was delicious. My MIL had the Huevos Rancheros, which she complained were great. My hubs had the Banana Fosters French Toast with bacon, scrambled eggs and house potatoes on the side & he enjoyed all of it. Hubby says the burrito was "very good". It was a generous size and came with roasted potatoes. The ketchup on the table is made for the restaurant, tastes like real tomatoes and just a little spice. Perfect for roast potatoes. The veggie omelet was exceptional, I loved the savory/sweet combo of the sundried tomatoes, feta, and sweet cream. Thean candy bacon was like nothing I've had before. After ordering some cold brews, Mexican mocha and espresso we quickly ordered the American, the Quinoa Salad, Breakfast Sausage sandwich, Man Candy and the Short Rib Sandwich. The average rating of all dishes was a 3.5-4. The American was a standard breakfast dish consisting of eggs, toast, sausage and potatoes. The Man Candy was sweet and savory. Reminded me of Honey Baked Ham. The Quinoa Salad was decent, non typical salad, nothing to write home about. The Breakfast Sausage Sandwich was sausage forward. The short Rib Sandwich and side of Strawberry French toast were the stars of the show. This place is a chain, I believe is also the original location. It is decent at best. There is an option to write a Yelp review for a house made coffee cake which is an incentive. Our server took ten years to give us the check, I didn't want the coffee cake by the time she returned. The Liberty Station location is one of my favorite brunch spots to take visitors and show off the beauty that is San Diego. Not only do you get great food, you also have lovely ambience and area with shops, art building, and additional food court to explore. For the food: My husband and I love sharing the french toast trio as you get a sampler of three different kinds, one has berries piled on top, another is stuffed with marscapone, and the third is bananas foster. That, with a side of mouth watering truffle ptoatoes and another side of bacon makes for a satisfying meal for two. Our friend got the breakfast burrito and that looked good, too. Food Allergy Friendly! I just want to thank Melissa for waiting on us today. She was truly a breath of fresh air for this allergy mama. Firstly, we asked to sit outside because we are still cautious about covid, and though the patio wasn't set up for it, she got us set up with no hesitation. There was no weirdness, just kindness. When we were sat, we told her our son had a nut allergy, and she reassured us they were big on allergy protocols and made a note of his allergy. It wasn't the typical experience where staff tell you there are no nuts in the food. She understood without further discussion the need for caution with cross contamination, and it was just very reassuring. The service was great, the food was good and the ambiance was great. The power was out at our house so we decided to go out for a late breakfast. Fig Tree Cafe has great ambiance and a great menu based off what we found online beforehand. We arrived and were seated immediately. I ordered a mimosa and my husband ordered a coffee. Since it was mid morning I opted for the shrimp and mango salad while he stuck with breakfast and got the angus steak eggs Benedict. The food came out quickly. My salad was good but that was an awful lot of coconut On top. Expected but overpowered the plate and taste. The salad was good and I ended up pushing about half the coconut to the side so I could taste the other items. My husband noted that his eggs were cold, odd considering how fast the food arrived. He felt could have made this at home; speaking to the spices & preparation. Another item of note was the service. We did not see anyone after ordering until my husband was done with his meal and plate gone. I was still eating the salad and the server asked if he had even gotten his meal. Husband asked for coffee refill and I kept eating. Coffee refill arrived as I was finishing my salad right. Then, BAM, the check was on the table without us asking for it or finishing our liquids. Centrally located to the beach and airport with lots of shops nearby.It was packed inside and the hostess said it would be a 30 min wait. We were going to do a takeaway order but we ended up sitting by the bar. The waitress was amazing!
