You can tell it used to be a house that was converted into a restaurant, and that charm is a huge part of the experience. It's quaint, cozy, and even when it's busy, it never feels overly loud or chaotic. It feels more like being invited to a brunch party at someone's home than going out to eat. If you're going for brunch, the mimosa flights are absolutely worth trying. The flavors are creative, fresh, and fun. My personal favorite is the Pink Goddess--anything with guava gets my attention, and guava can be surprisingly hard to find around San Diego. Coming from Miami, I appreciate tropical flavors done right, and this one delivers. The food is consistently great. Yes, they have brunch staples and popular SoCal favorites, but the pancakes deserve their own mention. They're huge, fluffy, and never dry. Even the plain pancakes feel elevated with little touches like vanilla bean flavoring that make them stand out. One of the best things about this place is that they keep it interesting. Every month there's something new on the menu, and it's never boring or predictable. They clearly aren't afraid to think outside the box. I remember seeing a Cap'n Crunch French toast special that sounded wild at first--but it was delicious. Whoever comes up with their monthly ideas deserves credit, because they consistently make it work. The service has always been solid. When it gets busy, you can tell the staff is hustling, but that's understandable. Even with large parties and a full house, I've never had an order come out wrong--and I go regularly. I also love the little details here. Their chamomile tea service comes with a mini teapot, hot water, lemon slices--the kind of thoughtful touch that adds to the whole cozy experience. Portions are generous, filling, and I almost always end up taking leftovers home. Came here for dinner for a group of 14 and it surpassed our expectations! We did sit outside, however, the heaters did make us feel warm and toasty! The food was really good and came out all at the same time, which was quite impressive for a small restaurant. We did have a reservation, which is nice to know in north park for big parties! I highly recommend the chicken parm, it was my favorite of all the meals. The waitress was so nice and let us split our bill amongst the couples of the party. We had 8 different tabs, and she handled it perfectly! I came for dinner and there was a nice variety. I saw some awesome photos of brunch, so if I am ever in the area I will for sure come to try! Being north park, the parking is limited. The bathroom was nice and spacious enough to where you can even sit on a bench/couch in the women's bathroom LOL. I dined with my neighbor for Girl's Breakfast early on MLK. She came here with her parents over the holidays and said this is a must try spot for me. I'm not a huge breakfast person but I trust her. Very cute location, decor is charming and it very spacious to accommodate guests inside and out. Our server was darling, super helpful and had a great sense of humor. My neighbor ordered a breakfast burrito and I got the Lemon Ricotta Pancake with Blueberry Compote on the side by request. We received our drinks shortly after he took our order. Food was served within 15 minutes. My eyes grew big, I asked if they had to deliver my pancake with a forklift because it was larger than my face. It was a good call just to order 1. There was citrusy bits of lemon zest in the fluffy batter. It was a pleasant surprise in each bite. I totally intended to each just half but somehow the whole pancake disappeared. Service was great! I had never been here. A friend said it is his "home" and wanted me to enjoy it. So off we went. We were seated immediately and our server, Thea, was amazing. She knew the menu and helped to guide me to some great choices. The lobster risotto was beyond compare. Lots of lobster and oh so yummy. The fish with the lemon caper sauce was out of this world. Was invited to catch breakfast here and was surprised I've never heard of this cute venue/restaurant. Outside and inside of this small spot is very open and staff treated us well. Parking can be tricky depending on the time you go. You make be looking for a spot for a while. Had the chocolate mocha and truly enjoyed the sweet flavors. The menu has a variety of items to choose from which can be overwhelming but I ended up choosing a salad. Salad was basic. Nothing too special. Dressing was ok. Cool place to meet friends or a date for a bite to eat and chat for sure. I like how open the restaurant is and the level of calmness you feel there. Me and a couple friends went to Park House Eatery last Monday, and I'm honestly not sure why I've never written a review before because I've been here a few times now. This place is solid. I ordered the French toast and it's easily one of the best French toasts I've had in San Diego. Perfectly cooked, not dry, not soggy, just really, really good. I also got the chicken sausage, which I didn't love. That was the only miss for me. One friend ordered the churro pancake. It was delicious, but definitely very sweet. I could only handle a few bites, but she absolutely loved it and cleaned her plate. My other friend got the egg scramble as a burrito and would not stop raving about it. My favorite part of Park House is their daily muffin special that they make in house. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for me haha, the special that day was banana walnut and I don't like walnuts. That said, I've had their strawberry Fruity Pebble muffin and their espresso Oreo muffin before and both were fantastic. My April birthday girlfriend, and I went to our annual lunch at Park House eatery to celebrate and this year I chose the churro pancake soaking in condensed milk for my free birthday treat. I usually don't eat such an indulgent item for lunch, but I decided that this year I would do just that. My friend had her usual chicken salad that she adores and it was. As delicious as ever. Esteban was our waiter and you can't get a more exuberant and joyful waiter than Esteban. He repeatedly wished me a happy birthday and made my lunch extra special with his personal touch. It's been many years since I've been here, so when a friend who hadn't been here asked to meet up for breakfast, I was curious to see how it was after all this time. It ended up being such an amazing time. Came when they first opened, so we were able to get seated right away, and this time I got to try their breakfast/brunch menu. Staff were super friendly and they continually checked up on us and our drink refills (shoutout to Fabio!), and I ended up getting the pancake combo with a single lemon ricotta pancake (the best), my usual sunny side up eggs, and an upgrade to try their Portuguese sausage (delicious). I've been to Parkhouse Eatery twice now -- both times with my dog, and both times the food has been reliably good. The Chilaquiles are my personal favorite (recommended by the server on my first visit), and I've also tried the spicy chorizo scramble and the breakfast pizza, all of which were flavorful and filling. I always leave with leftovers, which is a bonus. That said, the service leaves something to be desired. The first time I went, I was seated quickly and had a mostly smooth experience, though I did have to ask for refills and the check -- nothing major, just a bit inattentive. The second visit was a little rougher. We waited at the host stand for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us, even though staff were visibly nearby. We were quoted a 20-minute wait despite there being plenty of open tables (likely an understaffing issue), but it ended up being over 30 minutes before we were seated. Staff seemed more focused on chatting with each other than helping guests or turning tables. Once seated, our server was polite but slow. It took 20+ minutes to get a Bloody Mary we ordered, and only after we flagged down a busser to ask about it. The pacing throughout was sluggish -- long stretches without anyone checking in, and more waiting to pay and leave. The food definitely makes this place worth a visit, but the service really depends on who's working and how motivated they are that day. If you're in no rush and want a solid breakfast with a cute dog-friendly patio, it's still a good choice -- just be prepared for things to move slowly. read more
