We had dinner with the governor and had a wonderful experience. Actually, she was sitting at the table next to us. (I was wondering why two suspicious men were at the door upon entering.-bodyguards!) Food was excellent, service was good. Though the restaurant paid more attention to the governor than the other customers. Isn't that to be expected? Our waiter apologized for forgetting our appetizer, and tried to make up for it in the end by offering a free desert. We didn't complain though. We were having a nice experience. The waiter was very thoughtful. When we got our bill though he added $2 coffees on the bill. I don't even like coffee. I guess that was his way of charging us for the desert after all. yes, it was pricey, but it's the most intimate quaint restaurant in Newberry. read more

We had brunch there. The service was great and atmosphere of the 19th century bank was an added bonus. I had chicken and waffles. It was very good and filing. My wife had chicken salad and sweet potato fries with a homemade honey mustard. It was really good. I highly recommend when strolling through the beautiful downtown Newberry. read more

Reluctant to leave such a high rating as seating is limited here and I'd frankly prefer that people stay away and save us a chair or two. Solid food, nobody staring around the entire time to see who else is there and who else can see them (A la Halls Steakhouse), and a grilled endive salad that is just killer. Wine "specials" are a tad lacking if you're a fancy connoisseur, but suck it up and bring a bottle from your own cellar if you're that full of yourself. Good steaks, seafood and even the charcuterie is solid. Rare find fora small town like Newberry and a welcome treat from chains and egregiously priced joints that you feel compelled to rate highly just so you don't feel overly ignorant for dropping big bucks on average food. read more

I guess this is supposed to be the fine dining in the area. If you walk inside you would assume so. The interior and exterior look nice and upscale. The prices are as well. I've eaten here three times in two weeks and the most people at once were four tables. The food is okay. Very average. I understand that nicer places usually have small portions but theirs was small even on that scale. With the lack of customers you would think the service was exceptional but that was subpar as well. Waited a while to get the servers attention to ask for things since they didn't really stop by to make sure everything was okay. I'm surprised the ratings so high on this place. Excellent food and service! My husband and I ate here before going to the Newberry Opera House and we are so glad we did! The staff were all very courteous, friendly and attentive. The salads were so, so good! We ordered the sea bass and the ribeye specials so we could share. Both entrees were superb! Jacqueline, the hostess is a perfect representation of this fine restaurant : beautiful, friendly and sweet and highly professional making your meal all the more better. Although the inside (originally a bank complete with two vaults) is lovely, you do not feel that casual attire is inappropriate. This is my second visit here. My family and I love this place! It's in a great area of town, the menu is varied, the food is exceptional with a nice presentation, and the staff has always been friendly and accommodating. One of the best Steaks I have had this year. I had the Filet Mignon and it was sublime. Perfectly aged, cooked exactly as ordered and fork tender. Very flavorful. I will be returning the next time that I visit Newberry. The Tomahawk Ribeye is also out of this world. read more

Definitely one of the nicest lunches I've ever had! My teenage daughter and I chose it on our way to Hilton Head. Walking in, I got the feeling that it might be much grander than my budget. Not so! Beautifully prepared food at reasonable prices. The She-Crab soup was divine!! Best I've ever had. And the Figaro Salad was perfection with the light citrus vinaigrette. The dressing accentuated the salad flavors rather than detracting from them. Service was friendly and attentive. Don't let the posh entrance detour you from a top-notch dining experience. It's expensive true, however, my daughter and I ordered steaks and they were 2 of the best I've had. Cooked exactly like we requested, good size and very flavorful. Mashed potatoes sides was delicious as well. Also spot on was the chocolate desert we split. We both left full and happy which is what I want out of a restaurant. read more

We dined here on Saturday, February 22, before a show at the Opera House. It was a disaster. We were seated at 6:00 pm but our waiter didn't show up to take our orders until nearly 6:30 pm. Then it was a rush to complete the dining process before the 8 pm show. The waiter explained that several of the menu items weren't available as soon as he approached our table. He took our orders and it took a while for our salads to come out. My wife and I had requested dressing on the side but they forgot. It took several more minutes for that problem to be corrected. The salads are served with a large crouton made out of grits--but ours were stone cold, meaning they hadn't been recently prepared. Instead they likely came out of a freezer and were zapped quickly in the microwave. If you like bread and wine with your meal, think again if you come here. There is no complimentary bread offered. The wine--the HOUSE wine--is $15 a glass! Seriously, this is highway robbery. The entrees were decent--no major complaints except that the flavors were strictly average, the portions were on the small side. The prices were again exorbitant for a restaurant in a small town like Newberry. I got a lasagne dish that was $24. It came with one side. I requested the spinach, but they forgot to bring mine out with the pasta dish, and only after I had eaten half of my dish did a small bowl of over-sauteed and bitter spinach arrive. To be fair to this place, I wrote my concerns down in a nice way and communicated via the "Contact Us" portal of their own website. Two weeks have passed, and they didn't even have the decency to respond. That is what has really annoyed me. A new restaurant on the scene, and they can't even take the time to respond to legitimate complaints. My wife and I spent over $110 on our food and drink, and it was at least double what the food was worth. We felt like Figaro's overcharged for the dining experience that we had, and more importantly, no manager ever stepped forward to acknowledge the service lapses and make things right. What kind of place just ignores customer feedback? Our advice is: Steer clear of this place. The food is okay, but you will be charged a premium, and you may still be hungry when you leave. There are better choices elsewhere downtown. read more

For me, Figaro is somewhat difficult to rate. The food was mostly very good, but the portions were meager and not worth the price I'm my opinion. My associate and I each had the she crab soup to start. It was very good but the small cup did not justify the $8.50 price to me. When I asked the server for fresh bread to go with the soup he told me they did not have bread, which disappointed me. I had crab cakes for my entree. They were quite tasty and accompanied by a nice savory remoulade sauce.But $28 for two small appetizer sized crab cakes was not worth it. Moreover, the only accompaniment was asparagus and it was somewhat woody. I had a glass of Chardonnay with the meal for $10, which again I felt was a little overpriced. I like it! Been in a few times now, when I pass through Newberry. Service has always been pretty quick and very friendly. Last time we were sat at a lovely outdoor table and the server brought water for my lil furry friend. Had a very simple ham sandwich and potato salad and they were straightforward and great, just like grandma makes. The lady had the Reuben and it was excellent also. Sure you may find a few less pricey options but the atmosphere and service is worth it to me. We will be back! read more

Our family went for Sunday brunch. I can honestly say this is the best breakfast I have ever had! I had the southern breakfast. The bacon is thick cut and perfectly cooked. Their biscuits are amazing - they grill the inside with butter. Home fries were very tasty and different. My favorite was the grits - not sure what they put in them but they are scrumptious. Our kids had beignets, which were really good and my husband had eggs benedict, which he enjoyed. This place is definitely worth the drive if you are anywhere close! The service was excellent and I loved the rich atmosphere. A New Orleans speak easy kind of decor. And the music was also spot on, old jazz and standards. read more

The room was very cool. When the door opens the cold air rushes in. The service was slow, but everyone was friendly. The lobster roll was okay. The shaved roast beef sandwich was not shaved. This is the first time I've eaten here and it was fantastic. I had an excellent bottle of red, a delicious she-crab soup, and perhaps the best duck breast I have had in a long time. My mother had a fantastic sea-bass that was light and buttery. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt upscale but also very relaxed. The food was just ok. My boys 7 & 5 split the hamburger. We ordered it with cheddar cheese and they brought Swiss. We didn't request they fix it because according to my kids "this place is soooo boring" due to the extreme amount of time it took for our meals to arrive. I didn't check the time when we arrived, but halftime and third quarter of a football game had passed. I had the Cuban, which was dry and the bun tasted charred/burnt rather than toasted. My wife had the chicken sandwich (grilled) which she said tasted good, but lacked vegetables and was very small for the price. I should add this is a Saturday at 2:00 and the place was not busy. I hate to rate places badly, but hope you choose somewhere else and don't waste your time (like 2 hours for sandwiches! Really?) and money. read more

Amazing food and service. We had the special, which was prime rib and scallops. It was so good, especially the scallops. Bread was very solid. Salads were very well done. Favorite was the one with the candied nuts. They did make children's chicken fingers and fries for our son even though it was not on the menu and this too was excellent. We had lunch/brunch yesterday for the first time. We live an hour away and decided to explore Newberry. We were the only patrons and service was great. Both servers were very attentive. Food was extremely good and portions were extremely generous!!! My only complaint, my omelet had two hairs in it which is utterly disgusting! I know it can happen, but for this experience, it really diminished it. That is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. read more

FYI- one of the only places open on a Monday in Newberry that's worth the cost. Had the ribeye steak and have to say, this was one of the best steaks I have ever had anywhere in the US. And I have eaten quick a few steaks in my time. Prepared absolutely perfectly, the sides were great too. No A1 sauce but their house steak sauce will do the trick if you like that. And dessert...caramel apple pie with Vanilla Bean ice cream!! OMG, wish I could come here more often. Definitely on the pricey side but to me, it was well worth it. Stopped in for dinner and I was extremely glad I did. Caprese salad was crisp and delicious. The fresh catch was a yellow tail snapper which melted in your mouth and absolutely incredible flavor. Finished with the Key Lime pie and I can't say enough about the quality of the food. I will be stopping in from time to time. read more
