Not super busy during lunch. They seem to have one front desk, one server, and kitchen crew. They have several televisions but only the soap opera had subtitles. The broccoli could have been cooked with more salt. The vegetables were not soggy. The fish was lightly battered and fried. It was not greasy. Very good southern food. We ordered the fried chicken dinner. The best for me are their sides which are cooked well and very flavorful. The fried chicken was decent but not my favorite. I was not a big fan of the spices used, and the breast was a bit dry. However, my friend had the dark meat and said that it was awesome. Their cornbread is very moist and has a cake-like texture - loved it! Mac & cheese was very good, nice and cheesy. The vegetables were the best I have had in a long time. We had the best lunch here after church today. There were 7 of us and we were all pleased with our selections. We had oxtails, fried chicken, fried flounder and pork chops. Some of the sides were collard greens, Lima beans, cabbage, and candied yams. Great portions and we felt the price was very reasonable. Our server, Olivia was an absolute delight and was super helpful with answering our questions about the menu. WOW. What an amazing surprise. Everything was great. THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. Oxtails, catfish, fried chicken, collard greens, cabbage, lima beans, cornbread, and black eyed peas. We didn't get any seafood as the soul food menu caught our attention first, but they are open tomorrow. Our server Kyle was attentive and excellent. Its name is spot on soul food and seafood but in my opinion it doesn't necessarily excel in either. My girlfriend had the steamed oysters appetizer then wings and fries. Pork chops was the star of the show, fried to perfection I must say, but my sides for one weren't hot (they were warm at best) and a little bland for my liking. As far as my girlfriend she said the oysters were good but the wings were ok at best. Thought they would be fried and tossed in sauce but they looked more baked than anything or maybe they had been sitting in the sauce for a while after they were prepared I'm not sure. Servers were nice and attentive but i believe one girl was new/ training and she literally sneezed twice at the end of our table without covering her mouth, turning around or anything..... while my drink is sitting in front of her. No onion, no cucumbers. THE OYSTERS WERE OK. When I took it back in after Looking at it the server said she couldn't refund me. I asked lf I could at least get some onions she said it would be an extra charge. She said she tried calling the manager and didn't get an answer. I am very disappointed.
