My Mom and I were camping at Dreher Island State Park (DISP) and found this hidden gem within the Little Mountain Unlimited Antique Mall (just 12 miles away from DISP). The cafe is just downstairs from the 25,000-sq ft antique shop. We stopped by Sun afternoon for lunch. This cafe was bustling with an after church crowd with wait staff scurrying from counter to tables, all while greeting new customers and either pointing them to available tables or putting them on the wait list. The dining room is surrounded on most sides by antique treasures and was a nice spot to take a break from shopping. My Mom & I did have a little wait to placing our order but that was more than understandable based on the crowd. Kelly was our waitress and she was really friendly, always looking out after us, and anticipating our needs. My Mom and I both ordered something from their Daily Special menu. Mom got the Tomato Bisque (with a chicken salad sandwich) and I got the Tomato, Bacon & Goat Cheese Quiche (with a side salad). Our order was quick to arrive, within 15 min. Both specials were excellent. Their southern sweet tea was on point. We did scope out the dessert counter with all their homemade cakes and pies, but were unfortunately too full to try one. All the more reason to go back again. This little cafe is open 7 days a week (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 11a-3p.

Little slow coming to our table initially after checking in at the front counter. But had the mountain melt. It was good. Would I go back - yeah I would, food was good and price ok

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.

Also this location IS NOT a drive through even though it indicates that it is on Google maps and Yelp. It's such an irritating thing when a business, especially a coffee location, keeps the only menu available at the cash register. This means that the line backs up and everybody has to wait so that the the peeps at the front have to spend several minutes at the cash register to figure out what they want. That adds to the slowness of the baristas, which are pretty ho-hum about the whole endeavor. We each got lattes, I got the spicy honey-cinnamon and G got a regular. Nothing special about either, just middle of the road. In addition we asked for a "Pupa-chino", for our Puppy-Dog, which is usually a small cup of whipped cream that most coffee shops (and even McDonald's) give you for no charge. When we looked at the receipt they had charged us $1.50. Would have been nice to know they charge for it. It was huge, a full 12 ounce cup of which we ended up tossing out half of. Puppy-Dog certainly enjoyed what he got but it was just way too much greasy fatness for him. Finally, I'm not sure what the deal is, the people working there are as quiet as mice. I had to ask the girl to speak up at the check out because we couldn't hear anything she was saying. The person who called people's orders out was also really mousy quiet and so orders were piling up. We just got the vibe of incompetence and mediocrity. Likely wouldn't come back.
