    Woooo!
    Leland S.

I was visiting Delano to honor the Anniversary of the United Farmworkers' Grape Strike. It felt only right to support a Filipino-owned business, since Filipino farmworkers were central to the movement. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plenty of parking in the front and back. This spot is no hidden gem--it gets busy, especially in the mornings. Seating: A handful of booths (3-4) for small groups of about four. Vibe: Delano isn't flashy; it has the feel of a rural small-town with glimpses of diversity. Fil Bake Shop opens as early as 4:00am! Inside, you're welcomed by the aroma of fresh bread, upbeat Mexican music, an altar honoring ancestors, and photos showcasing history and famous visitors. Perfect for grab-and-go or a quick rest stop. FOOD/DRINKS: Lady Fingers: Delicious! Soft, lightly sweet, and perfect with coffee. Their 60-for-$21 deal is a steal. Pandesal (Pork Adobo): A savory-sweet filling of seasoned pork adobo tucked into warm bread--comfort food at its best. Pandesal (Ube): Sweet and satisfying, perfect if you're craving something on the dessert side. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The line was long, but staff handled it with professionalism and efficiency. Friendly, patient, and quick. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Given that it's Delano - it doesn't get much better. Cultural gems like this are harder to find outside small towns, but Fil Bake Shop represents. Great selection of sweet and savory treats at great prices. Delano may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're here to connect with history or just want a quick bite, this is the spot. Salamat to Fil Bake Shop for all that they do. #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: *Come early this is no hidden gem.

Hidden gem sorta hole in the wall. Forgot how we found this place but it was a little far from us. About 75 miles but well worth it if we're in the Bakersfield area. Ladies were in the kitchen making fresh pastries and rolls. Tried several of them with free samples that were awesome. I think we bought every type there on the display. A few tables in there if you want to sit and eat but mostly a smash and grab type of place. Take home or eat in the car like we did. I think we enjoyed the pastry so much we finished most of them before we even got home If you're looking for unique items not found in a regular pastry or donut shop, this is the place. Not only were they fresh and tasty, but very very affordable. Wish they were not so far but highly recommend.

Food, always freshly made. I believe they're still a cash only business. Definitely worth the drive to Delano. You have to try everything at least once there but know they open early and close early. Don't show up with a gluten allergy because this place is chock full of gluten. I think I've had almost everything but if you show up with an open mind and ask the people working there what to try they might hook you up with a whole tray filled with options and samples. Family owned joint has been on multiple television shows and is a must try if you are willing to make the trip to Delano. Grab a coffee and then head in and grab 2-3 bags of goodies is the best way to try this place but don't forget it's CASH ONLY.

    Ensaymada

I have always heard my workmates say all good things about this place. Unfortunately, I live 30 minutes away so I really haven't tried anything until the day that I worked in Delano. And I was not aware that they only accept cash until I entered their door. Upon going inside, you can smell freshly baked bread and all the smiling titas greeting me like I am back home in the Philippines. I remember hiding emergency cash in the car so I got it and when I went back inside, I told the tita by the counter that I'd take whatever my $20 cash could get me. So she started bagging an assortment of bread - pandesal, ensaymada, pan de coco, lady fingers, ube bread - all 4 paper bags full. Then, another tita drops off a whole bag of pandesal and says it's for free. Then, just before I leave, they add another whole bag of freshly baked pandesal for free! Everything we've tasted were baked fresh and reminds you of 6am mornings back in the Philippines. My usually picky daughter ate four lady fingers in one sitting. If I happen to go back here, I'd definitely make sure I stock up on loads of lady fingers! And will remember to bring cash next time!

Sweetest people ever! I came in and said I hadn't had some things there before and they gave me a whole tray of freshly baked goods for me to just try and enjoy . They clearly are just serving because they love what they do. Their love and kindness is as delicious as their baked goods. It'll warm your heart!

    Lumpia.

I bought a dozen lumpia's there was little to no filling inside them, it was just rolled fried no flavor, no chicken, shrimp or any evidence of even cabbage or sprouts My daughter got two of the petals and loved rhose.

I would love to gatekeep this amazing filipino bakery but everyone deserves to feel the warmth of not just the goodies, but from the caring workers. The environment is so friendly, it feels like you are literally in the Philippines. It is small and their decor showcases how involved they are in their community. The pandesal was TO DIE FOR! It is soo good for such a good price. The lady fingers were so soft and warm. The smell of walking up to the bakery is hypnotizing, so be warned. It is a must visit when driving to and from South CA

    Pineapple Bread
    Ashley C.

Warning - this place is cash only! This tiny shop looks like it's inside of an abandoned little gas station, so it would be really easy to miss if you didn't know it was here. A lot of people came in and out so it seemed like a popular stop off the freeway. I tried their ube cream cheese bread & their hot dog buns. The bread itself was so soft! I also got what I thought was senorita bread but turned out to be some kind of pineapple filled bread. The bread tasted great but I didn't finish it since I don't like pineapple..wish I knew that when I picked it out! They had so many yummy things in the display case, it would be nice if they had everything labeled so we don't have to ask what each item is. Don't expect anything fancy, just your hole in the wall Filipino bakery, good option for some fresh baked goods in the morning but wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Come early for the delightful treats

Not that great. Lots of bread option, mostly bread very little substance inside. Lady fingers were decent but very little cream inside.

It's probably a good thing that this is in Delano and not in Bakersfield because I would be there all the time. It's nice to see Fil Bake Shop expanding. D'Cafe is fairly new, but the baker knows her stuff. I've had my fair share of goodies from here and I think my favorite is a toss up between the crinkle cookies and the newer item which is the empanada ube hayala. The empanada texture is more like bread versus an empanada to me, but the filling is what makes it really addicting. Everyone in Delano has had the lady fingers at Fil Bake Shop, but has everyone in Delano tried the ube lady fingers from D'Cafe? If you have not tried it yet, then you better get it before it's sold out for the day. Just when you thought the lady fingers was the best thing, they one upped it with ube. FYI if you've never been here before then just know they only take cash. Parking is a little bit crazy, but when you get to the front of the line then you'll be greeted by friendly aunties and uncles waiting to serve you warm/freshly baked bread.

We stopped by today to pick up some desserts for our 4th of July celebration. We were very impressed with the selection available, ranging from hot pastries to cool sweets. The bakery is super clean and well designed. The desserts are definitely not the kind you would find at other local spots, and it's great to have such a variety available locally. We picked up a carrot cake, a chocolate soufflé cake with wild berry and cream filling, and a pistachio cake with berry and cream filling. They were each packaged in a single serving size, cute container. The cakes were fresh, moist, and the cream topping was perfect! Not too sweet, but just right. We also bought some delicious lemon cupcakes, and a couple of croissant type of pastries that had a cream cheese filling and guava filling. They were fresh, hot, and a treat of flaky goodness. We also got a chocolate cookie that was inspired by one the owners sampled in New York. It's topped with delicious crumbled pistachios and was very good. I'm looking forward to taking my granddaughter here so we can sample more of their treats. I know she's going to love it. I can't say enough about this place. The owner was very helpful and courteous. Everything we bought was fresh and delicious. The bakery is super clean and the aroma of the freshly baked goods is amazing.
