So made an appointment , brought the 2004 Toyota Tacoma which has a hard shift into 1 st. a squeaking front end (diver side), Derek was really not interested in working on the truck..truck is in good shape and has 250K on it, left it there for 2 day's, and all he did was test drive and spray lube on some bushing's,(noise is back by the way Derek.) i guess he does not give a shit..Derek. a satisfied customer tells a friend a dissatisfied tells 10 well guess what.. i told Derek when i brought it in to just fix it..i never asked how much, its like he was genuinely not interested .. everything was..well the truck has 250k on it.. so fucking what.. it has been well maintained and wanted to keep it that way.. I brought my car here for an opinion on my car trouble. Les Schwab said it was the transmission. So this was the second place I brought it. They also said it was the transmission (Confidently) I then brought it to a transmission place on 145st in shoreline - they declared it was the brake calipers! They laughed that anyone would say it was the transmission! They confidently identified that the rear brake was temping at 365 degrees, ( you could feel the heat difference just by holding your hand at all four tires) I then brought it to Taylor Brake Automotive- they confirmed it is the caliper- nothing wrong with the transmission. The team was friendly and respectful, but maybe lazy or in experienced. Or they assumed because I'm female- I don't know what I'm talking about. They did a terrible job assessing the problem and were fairly quick, I doubt they even hooked it up to a machine to check things. read more

I so wish I could give five stars. Derrick was very nice and did a good job replacing my clutch. What he will fail to tell you before service is that he charges a 3% surcharge on all credit cards. That adds up when your total is $1400. Really disappointing. Also, he had my car for an extra day which caused me more fees having to Uber back and forth to work. And he didn't have it for an extra day because it took longer than he thought. It's because he didn't order the parts till I dropped off my car. All and all great job but that surcharge was a huge disappointment. read more

Great shop, great communication. Highly recommended. My 250K mile Diesel Jetta needed a new clutch. I'm a dedicated and fairly experienced do-it-yourselfer. I did the homework necessary to conclude that this project was way over my head. To quote Dirty Harry, "A man's got to know his limitations." On my initial call to Aurora Clutch & More, I learned more about the specifics of the clutch in my car than I had in six hours of videos and reviewing my Bentley's Manual. Derek knew things, top of his head that I hadn't seen. I knew I had the right expert. My car had really trashed the old clutch, and it gave Derek's crew a battle to even get the old parts out. His telling of the tale made me ever so thankful I hadn't attempted it myself. In the end, the price was fair and the new clutch is ever-so-silky smooth. Derrick got me in with two days notice, fixed a hard problem with my (very old) brakes, did it overnight and for a reasonable price.

I had what I thought was a clutch issue, my 07 Honda Civic SI had slipping problems getting into reverse gear. I shopped around other places and got blindly-quoted up to $1825 (and told I'd be out of a vehicle for 3 days) without even initially diagnosing. Found this gem that had ultra high ratings, and a reputation for being honest and fair priced. Yelp messaged and came in same day for a diagnosis. Derek was awesome. He took 30 min to do a free diagnosis, then he called and let me know that he was going to have to dig a little deeper and remove some items (air filter, hoses) to see what was going on, and fix whatever was the cause. Took about 45 min extra after that, After he was done, he brought me to the car and showed me he diagnosed the problem of a loose bushing insert of the shift cable, and instead of ordering a new one, he MacGuyvered and fixed the shift cable bushing on the spot. He even sent out a request for the OEM shiftcable replacement to Honda so if the MacGuyvering didn't work, I'd at least be informed timely of how much it is and what it would cost to replace the entire part. But so far the 'MacGuyver'ing has worked just fine. Everything works great now, I can actually reverse my car, I was out the door in less than 2 hours, paid labor only, and felt confident I had made the right choice. Scheduled an appointment with Derek, to bring my car here for the following: 1) Have Thermostat changed 2) Check engine mounts or potential rubber/join issues. I brought the car in, in the early morning - a bit before the shop opened around 8 - 8:30am. The owner: Derek was nice, the shop was small, and parking is free. However, was limited in parking. There wasn't say too much about the waiting area. It was small and have maybe 2-3 chairs to sit. There was T.V but nothing more... This was all ok, but my vehicle did not get taken and for the scheduled appointment until 1-2 pm! I had to call and get a status update as well. Due to this, I had to drop it to a 4 star; which I still think it is a generous review. The price was fair/reasonable. However, after the thermostat was changed. We notice some leaking from the valve. This was remedied by the fact; the coolant was a big above the max line; which a mechanic sucked some out with a machine. The price came out a bit higher than what was discussed over the phone, and although - not by much. It could have been nicer to get the exact quote. Overall, I would give it A-OK, but considering the help and requests I got - were meet. I will bump it to a 4 star. However, I do think the detail of service could have been better, and the integrity of the schedule. I am not sure why I was requested to come in so early, but my vehicle didn't get seen until the afternoon. Also, the fact, I must bring some things to attention, made me feel a bit uneasy on professionalism. read more

I dropped my vehicle after lunch for checking my loose parking brake. Derek diagnosed it and called me to explain what the issue is and told me he would fix it by releasing the actuator lever and pumping up the caliper until it had resistance. Derek is really professional for fixing the issue (for $55) while the dealership would only recommend you to replace the whole caliper (for around $500). Highly recommended! read more

I had a very similar story to another female reviewer. My car was misdiagnosed by them, they ended up not being able to fix what they started, and then I had to go find another mechanic to resolve everything. This was a huge, huge pain for me. Also, I was not forewarned that they needed the car overnight on several occasions so my work schedule got disrupted. My situation happened in the summer and I was hesitant to write a review since no other reviewers seemed to have any issues. I went there solely due to the 5 star yelps reviews. I had a noise that Jiffy Lube guessed was the serpentine belt. I repeated this exact statement when I brought the car there. After keeping the car for an entire day, they came back with agreeing with that statement. But in fact, this was not the problem. The sound was still there after they replaced the belt. He blamed me for telling him it was the serpentine belt, but I'm a customer, not a mechanic, and I did say that this is what Jiffy Lube said "but you do your own diagnosis" (which any shop should automatically do). After replacing the belt that didn't need replacing, they didn't tighten it enough so it caused a horrible screeching sound that was 25 times worse than the sound I brought the car there for. Since they were unable to get rid of the screeching sound and after having me come back multiple times, I was refunded and had to go find another mechanic who simply tightened it, and it went away. This ended up costing me an incredible amount of time, and my serpentine belt wasn't even the issue so I had to pay to replace it for nothing. Although they were professional, I think they should not take on jobs they cannot handle. read more

500 stars for Derek. My brake lights would not shut off, even if I turned off my engine. I called up Aurora and asked if they could take a look at it. Derek said come by anytime. I arrived soon after and he dropped everything else to take a quick look under the brake pedal. He diagnosed the issue in less than 10 seconds, said he had a replacement part, and then installed it in about 30 seconds. Problem solved! When I asked how much I owed him, he said maybe $5 for a cup of coffee. I of course gave him more than that as I appreciate good old fashioned great business service!
