Service is their weak spot! We have enjoyed quite a few meals in the main dining room. Service was good except for the day before Christmas Eve; we were celebrating my wife's birthday along with our daughter. Our time dinning was cut short when their bus boy/man decided to clear our table before we were finished eating! If you plan on staying open on Holidays, then you allow enough time to dine. Our waitress was great and she tried to offer us coffee and dessert but who wanted dessert when we were being rushed out! There were people still in their bar area and they weren't being rushed out. We called and complained and we were told they were sorry and would send something really nice in the mail. We never got anything and when we called again we got nowhere and of course we never got anything even complained to the manager! Also the few times we tried eating at the bar we were ignored; I can only guess that if the male bartenders knew you, you got served, we were not known yet after at least 4 visits and had to go out of our way to get served! Then they burnt our food and didn't care. As a result of everything we never went back after last Christmas that was the final insult. OMG - 2010 was my first review here!!! Wow, how times flies! You know when something is right in your "back yard," but you just don't seem to go there? This is the case w/ Filomena (Blackwood)! For some odd reason, I hadn't been here in MANY years, and it's about a ten minute drive from my house! (We actually frequent their Berlin location more). On this Friday eve!, we mainly came to see a music duo (Lisa and Joe). They were sensational, as was our food. I had a (rare cooked) steak dinner salad that was just perfect and delicious. My dad had the same, but with medium cooked steak, and a different dressing than mine. He loved his as well. Joey only had a (chicken) meatball app. He really enjoyed it (I didn't feel like trying it, mixing with my steak taste that I wanted to savor!) My mom had their Vodka rigatoni. She said that it was very good (I was initially skeptical b/c the sauce was a darker color than what I'm used to); it was also a big portion (she didn't finish it). The service was fine. This restaurant is extremely overpriced for what it has to offer. We started out with warm bread and roasted peppers. It was very nice. My appetizer was offered as coconut shrimp. I received 4 shrimp, count them, Four, that had no coconut flavor or any coconut at all. They were just Four fried shrimp. I was charged $15 for my four fried shrimp. That is absurd. The only stand out was my dinner salad which was nice fresh lettuce with a vinaigrette dressing. It was only lettuce and one cherry tomato, but It was crisp and tasty. My chicken piccata looked as if it had been cooked in the microwave. The chicken was pale and mealy. The sauce was mediocre at best. It did have a decent amount of capers. This entree cost the same as my four fried shrimp. Mother's Day early dinner for party of 10. My hubby was able to get a reservation a week before and the restaurant was accommodating. Upon arrival we were seated quickly, the restaurant tables are small and the space can feel tight. When we arrived it was not crowded but around 4:30-5 there was a line. They provided bread for the table and butter. We ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls and calamari; both were delicious. I ordered the chicken parm which came with a side salad and angel hair pasta. My meal was good. I was craving a good chicken parm so I was content. My only con is our waitress was quite forgetful. We had to remind her several times of drink orders, food orders and take home containers. We ordered dessert to go and thank goodness we checked it before leaving because she gave us the wrong cake TWICE. Overall a decent experience and reasonably priced. read more

The garlic bread and eggplant with peppers - fugget about it! It was mamma Mia delicious. YO the seafood bisque was unreal as was the minestrone. The salad had a tasty dressing. This Filomena Cucina Italiana is located along Blackwood Clementon Rd. in Blackwood, NJ. It was recommended by a friend that lives here to go there for dinner. There was ample parking when there and they also have outdoor seating available. Our visit here was on September 23, 2019. We got here around 4 pm. There was no host or hostess at the front of the place. There was a sign for noting to seat yourself. The only part of the restaurant open was the bar, which we were trying to avoid. Someone came out and ended up seating us there, but quickly needed to move because they sat us in a very loud part of the bar. We would end up at the other end of the bar, but it was still pretty loud in there. After a minute or two, our server came to the table with some waters and to take our drink orders, but we did stick with just water. She gave us some time to look over the menu. A few minutes later she came back, but we were not quite ready yet, but did order the Bruschetta appetizer during happy hour. A few more minutes later she came back and we were ready to order. I ended up going with the Ricotta Ravioli with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara sauce. A few minutes later, the Bruschetta appetizer came out to the table. The Bruschetta was very good, but the bread it was on was pretty hard. It didn't stop me from eating it though. She also brought some garlic bread and regular bread to have, as well as some peppers. The garlic bread was really good. Next up was the salad that comes with the entrees. The salad was good, but I didn't realize it had dressing on it. I normally do salads with no dressing. About 5-10 minutes after that, our orders came to the table. The Ricotta Ravioli came out hot and with the Alfredo sauce. The ravioli was really good. It was typical of most other Italian restaurants I have been too back home as well. The portion size was large, which was a good thing. I almost felt like I would have to roll out after eating. Overall, the food and service was very good. The bar was too loud regardless of where you were so it was hard to have any type of conversation. They really should have the regular dining room open as well, which is the main reason for only giving three stars. Maybe it was an off night, but that's how it went for me. If you are in the area and looking for an Italian restaurant, this place is still a good one to come to. As for exiting, the exit is at the back of the restaurant. Turn right and then turn right again at the second road. The first one doesn't have a traffic light while the second one does. read more

Excellent everything!! We had my mom's 80th birthday dinner here (party of 10). Everything was delicious & we thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. Wine was yummy as well. Service was wonderful as well. I'm so glad we chose Filomena's. It was our first time here too. call ahead (at least a few weeks) if you have a larger party. My daughter & her family of 5 we're supposed to go too but the whole family was sick & they didn't want to give it to anyone... We came here for our anniversary dinner last night. Everything was fantastic from the service to the food and drinks. We've been here several times in the past and have had exceptional food and great service always! I ordered the four course meal with crab stuffed flounder. My boyfriend ordered chicken parmigiana. I ordered a glass of Kendall Jackson and he had 3 shots of Patron. We definitely got what we paid for! I don't get why everyone in the reviews likes it at this place. First off, they do NOT offer many vegetarian options, they offer few. Secondly, came in on a Monday night and were seated in the bar area only with 2 servers, ours took forever and didn't bring the other menu and we sat waiting. The menu isn't great either is the food. The clams in red sauce was too watery, and the only vegetarian burger option came without the sauce and was nasty. This is the third time I have eaten here and it's always the same, not a good place for vegetarians or people looking for low carb. read more

If you follow my reviews then you know I never order White Sauce, I always order the Spicy Fra Diavolo Sauce when ordering from an Italian Restaurant but bc of my health deficiency I'm craving spicy garlic sauces loaded with iron & copper! With a 7 p.m. Saturday reservation, my boyfriend and I waited an additional 20 minutes before a table became available in the dining room. Our server was nice and gave me a high-five over the old Ground Round -- the now-defunct restaurant that used to sit where Filomena is now. I had an inkling that Filomena's location had moved, but I had to ask since my last visit was when I was, oh, maybe 6 years old? My boyfriend loved his lobster ravioli dish and the bread. I loved the chocolate lava cake -- and certainly did NOT want to share. I give a solid three stars. Maybe 3.5 if you give more weight to the dessert. read more

Also on sundays they have happy hour all day the drinks were priced so cheap I wondered then realized it was happy hour all day. After 21 hours from Mid country to East coast, we got some Italian food nearby. Their pasta Primavera was nice oily and flavorful. The eggplant parm was nicely breaded and good amount of mozzarella melted over a bed of noodles. Pandemic protocol...this worries me because I saw multiple patrons entering and exiting the facility with no face masks on. The person hand passed the food to us wore no mask and just held it up to their face. Maybe it was too close to closing time for them to care or it was an exhausting day...but safety precautions wise they have much to work on. read more

The food here was fantastic. The calamari was super fresh. The lentil soup was yummy. My homemade manicotti was perfect (not drowned in sauce or mozzarella). Everyone cleaned their plates. Clams casino, chicken saltimboca (they even made it with sliced Parmesan instead of mozzarella on top per request), and the limoncello cake was really good (they brought it out with a candle for a bday w/out us even requesting it). I would just like to start off by saying if you are thinking of having your next party or event at Filomena's- the answer is 100%, YES! Filomena's has been a restaurant I have been coming to with my boyfriend for well over 5 years! We have tried the entire menu and love everything they have to offer, especially the seafood bisque and their bread and peppers! We always have a pleasant experience with all of the staff; especially Andrea, who always goes the extra mile to make sure we are happy !! When it was suggested that I have my baby shower at Filomena's, I did not even hesitate to say yes. Over the weekend, I had my shower with 65+ people and it was (without a doubt) perfect... Graziana and her staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went perfectly. Charlie was our waiter and he made it look so easy waiting on so many women. He made sure to ask questions and check on our entire party constantly. Besides the excellent service, the food was PHENOMENAL(per usual.)The salad was fresh, all our food came out perfectly seasoned, cooked and most importantly hot, even though we were a larger party. Over all, I can say I plan on having all of my future events at Filomena's based off of how perfectly my event went and how well I was treated!! Bread and house roasted peppers were awesome..and complimentary. Our dinners also included a nice sized ,fresh and crispy house salad with a delicious house made dressing. I had the chicken saltimboca with prosciutto, spinach and melted mozzarella in a brown demi sauce with mushrooms and sage. Awesome!! My date had the roasted salmon with sesame flavored risotto and endamame. It was finished with a seasoned soy sauce She loved it !! I had read on an app that they had a selection of vegan items. Initially, I waited a little bit to be waited on. My boyfriend was already there but the waitress didn't see that I had arrived, didn't come over here to take our drink order, provide us with bread. That was a little frustrating but when the waitress did come she apologized profusely. It seemed they were short-staffed. When I told her I was looking for vegan options apparently you have to ask for that menu, it's not provided automatically. It was a decent amount of items, more than a lot of places offer. They also have a really good selection of four items for $25 during the week and a good happy hour list, both drinks and food. I think that their drinks are reasonably priced as well non HH pricing. My boyfriend seemed very happy with his four for $25, he got an eggplant rollatini, salad, a piece of salmon, and a New York cheesecake. I got a salad and the vegan Salisbury steak. I have to say the waitress was not very well versed in dietary needs she admitted to this. She asked if I wanted a soup or salad she then said out loud oh it's cream of chicken you obviously don't eat chicken. She then said what kind of salad dressing would you like (the house dressing) oh it's a creamy dressing you probably can't have that either. So the wait staff might need more training if they're trying to attract a vegan crowd in terms of what should be available if those are your two options soup or salad with a vegan entree. But overall it was a very pleasant dining experience. Even the bread with the roasted Peppers was really good. I can't complain I would definitely go back.
