We've been going to Mannino's for a few years now, and it's also become tradition for us to have Jyothi's post-recital dinner there twice a year after her ballet/tap recitals. We learned about the restaurant from their pizzeria down the street (also phenomenal). This BYOB gem is like dining at a local neighborhood Italian restaurant in NY. It always feels warm and cozy inside, the food is always high quality and huge in portion size, and the staff is always so attentive! We've had several dishes here and they've all been great! What a great find in downtown Pitman! This restaurant has a fantastic location and an even better dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and I really appreciated how accommodating they were with substitutions--I opted for extra veggies as a healthier choice, and they made the change at no extra cost. Had dinner here before going to the show. I ordered veal saltimbocca which came out room temperature and overall was a decent size portion but flavor wise was nothing special. The chicken parmigiana was a thin crispy cooked piece of chicken with had a flavorful red sauce and of course mozzarella cheese on top, it was the best dish on the table. The other dish was the scallops which I did not taste but was told they were just okay. I did upgrade to the Caesar salad which was very tasty. This was my second time here, I honestly most of the food is good. The prices are too high. I took my family for New Years Eve, as the chicken and veal parmigiana are very good. We tried the bruschetta, it was bad. The flavor was all wrong. Lots of oregano in it, which is not listed on the menu. At $18 we did not eat it and told our server, which I even questioned the ingredients, thinking the manager would remove. Nope. My wife and I had the chicken parm but with vodka sauce, we were charged $5 each to change the sauce. This was never mentioned, the vodka sauce was so light I had to request more. It's a real shame as I enjoyed my first visit, and the restaurant is nicely decorated but really need to take a look at their prices. I understand the dishes are prepared fresh and to order, but $38 for chicken parm in Pitman....no way. Plus there is a 3.5% credit card fee. Very disappointing! read more

I had dinner at Mannino's on New Year's Eve. There were four of us and we had 5PM reservations. It took approximately 15 minutes to receive our salads after we ordered. I say this because we were apparently on a time limit of 60-90 minutes to eat our meals. I ordered shrimp scampi and it was very bland, almost no flavor. Everyone else did enjoy their meal. We wanted to order dessert and our waiter rudely looked at his watch before agreeing to take the order. We felt rushed eating our desserts and I was still finishing mine as they were taking the plates from the table. I will never go to this restaurant again. read more

Bread w/oil and herbs and olive Our meals came with a small garden salad w/vinaigrette. This was perfect size for me. Everyone commented after their first bite and said how fresh, flavorful, tasty the pasta and crab cakes were. We tasted each other's food and everything tasted good. I'll start out by saying I actually rate this place 4.5 stars! Went for lunch and the menu had great options. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Ample street parking and very close to a large parking lot. Not a large place, but big enough to have large table set up for a group of 10 or so. Service was great, waiter was attentive and friendly. Food came out quickly and had great presentation. We didn't order appetizers but the bread was fresh & warm. They had butter for the table but the oil with herbs and olive was perfect! My Mom had their Salmon Rosa served over pasta- i had a taste of it and the brandy rose cream sauce was amazing. I had the Baked Pasta Primavera which included eggplant, tomatoes and arugula with a nicely made marinara sauce. Since it was an early lunch (11am) my husband was excited to see an egg and peppers sandwich! He loved it and thought the cremini mushrooms was a great addition. Again, the bread was fresh! My older daughter ordered Nonna's Polpette which was chopped meatballs over her choice of pasta (penne). She thought it was very good and portion size for her was huge. Younger daughter is 11 and picky but was glad to order from the appetizer section - mozzarella fritta which had 3 very large pieces which she loved but couldn't finish. Food is 3-4 stars. Tomato sauce is delicious, cheese ok, linguini ok but over cooked. Salad was unfortunately literally inedible, I couldn't bite the salad, so I didn't. Bread was ok not amazing, olive oil good not great for this type of restaurant and prices. Ordered appetizers, they came so late and bread not refilled that I left the restaurant, walked down the block, got an amazing slice of pizza at Atillo's and a coke, felt better and no longer lightheaded, and returned to eat my meal. Soup arrived, was unfortunately the wrong soup - not the one I ordered - they said they were out of the other one but they didn't tell me they were bringing another. Pastas have too much sauce to pasta etc ratio, are swimming in sauce, however the tomato sauce is delicious to eat like soup, so that could be a plus but the ratio matters. The food is home cooked tasting and fresh but was lukewarm so I asked them to please heat it. Alcohol by the glass is way too expensive and overpriced. The ambiance is lovely and bustling but gets way too loud on a Saturday night and as you'll be waiting 30-40 min for your appetizer, the noise plus hunger may feel overwhelming. Don't come too hungry. Water is refilled very often and staff are very kind which is a huge plus! Maybe an off night. The staff are very kind and food is good. Would return if much less busy and order differently and not come famished. And byob - bring your own bottle and bread. read more

Some of the best Italian food I've ever had out. Our server was Linda and she took great care of us. We started with the Melanzane Rollatini antipasto which was absolutely superb the sauce was balanced to bring out the richness of the San Marzano tomatoes. For an entree I got the Gnocchi Al Forno which was terrific as well. The ricotta had the most decadent, fragrant taste to it that was unlike anything I've had before. All in all it's evident that Mannino's takes pride in the ingredients they use and the results show. I thought the sauce was perfect, not too heavy and not too light. My husband tasted mine and wished that he'd ordered it! He said that his sandwich was good, although he'd expected it to sweeter. We normally really enjoy this restaurant but my husband and I had a bad experience the other day. First we ordered the fried mozzarella and it was cold hard cheese inside. We sent it back and they did replace it with a hot gooey version. My husband ordered the chicken parm. He gave me a bite and I thought it tasted odd. He took a few bites and proclaimed "this is veal" I have a strong aversion to veal and have never eaten it in my life. The veal was gray, thin and chewy. The waitress came over and we told her they had mistakenly given him veal parm instead of chicken parm. Her response "so it doesn't taste good?" What?! We said no this isn't what we ordered, she took it back and replaced it with chicken parm but said that the chef assured her the first dish was chicken parm. It absolutely was not. The real chicken parm was thick and white (unlike the very thin gray veal). Terrible!!! I ordered the penne vodka with lump crab as I always do. They normally give you a good helping of crab, as it's a $17 add on. I've included a picture of a very sad amount of crab they gave me. We probably will not be coming back here. We were charged full price for everything even after all the mishaps. Very unprofessional. read more

This is a fantastic and authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Pitman. We were able to get a reservation for a party of 3 on Open Table for Saturday night. When we arrived we were taken to our table immediately. Each table was socially distant and all servers wore masks. Our waitress was very attentive, quickly brought our drinks (this place is BYOB!), warm fresh bread for the table and our appetizer, mozzarella fritta. We each ordered a pasta dinner--fettuccini alfredo with chicken, ravioli in vodka sauce with sausage, and tortellini della nonna with chicken. The portions were quite large, the sauces were absolutely divine and the pasta was cooked to perfection. We will absolutely be back! read more

Wonderful evening at Mannino's! Food and service were excellent and the available wine choices were very reasonable. The only thing lacking is atmosphere, the room is very large and open so there is not much opportunity for private/romantic moments. What a great find in Gloucester County! Pitman isn't known for being a dining mecca, but they do have a gem on their hands now. Mannino's is a classic white-tablecloth restaurant, but it doesn't come with any fuss. I stopped in for lunch during the Pitman Craft Fair recently. It was pretty empty since it was off hours. We were seated immediately by a friendly host/server and given a cold water jug for the table. We started with their flash fried mozzarella dish. It came with three pieces, so we split the third. Very good, albeit not too original. You've had this dish before. For my late lunch, I ordered the chicken parm panino. It was basically a chicken parm cooked into an Italian hoagie roll. I thought this was delicious, but also heavy. I was pretty bummed when I could only finish half of it. This isn't the type of sandwich you take home -- it'd get too soggy unless you remove it from the bread. Also keep in mind that, while Pitman is considered a dry town, you can purchase Sharrott wine here. Plus, Kelly Green Brewing (and soon: Human Village Brewing) are right down the street. Mannino's is also situated really close to the theater. You could make a whole night out of your visit to Pitman! I'd come back to try more of their menu in the future before a brewery visit. read more

Used to go there once in a while and always very good and very enjoyable. Went back recently for dinner after a few months hiatus, and WOW, holy smokes, did they increase their prices!! When I looked at the menu I was literally shocked...NYC prices in Pitman NJ. I estimate they raised each item by 40%, no exaggeration. I don't know what they were thinking.... Service is very good. Food is also very good, and we like the casual open vibe. Nice menu too. But these prices are simply a non-starter. To upgrade from a house salad to a ceasar with a meal is $7 extra, and the salad is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. I understand inflation, but this is insanity. We drive 30 mins to get there, but no more for us...good place, but not worth it anymore. I think the owner needs to read these feedbacks and look at the prices of similar restaurants in South Jersey and save this place. read more

First time going here for dinner, food was good but for the prices they charge their portions were small. Only 1 meatball and 1 sausage with linguine. Only 2 very thin flat pieces of chicken for chicken piccata and small portion of risotto which costs extra. Chicken piccata dinner with upgraded risotto was $31.00, this should not costs more then $22.00. We had filet mignon cheesesteak egg rolls $16.00, could not tell if the meat was filet or not. We went on a Friday night hardly any of the seats were filled, I think they need to cut their prices or give you more food for the money they charge. Perhaps they will have more business. read more

Went for dinner based on a recommendation. Nice looking restaurant in downtown Pitman, which I have recently discovered is a nice area to hang out. The server was very attentive and nice throughout our meal. For starters they brought out bread which was very crunchy (toasted) and some olive oil and spices to dip in. This was the one criticism I had in that I could soak up the olive oil with a hard bread. I would have much preferred a soft bread. Next came a salad with a nice house balsamic vinaigrette, which I enjoyed. For dinner I went with the recommendation of the Merryman but with Fra Diavolo Sauce instead of the rose sauce. It was served over linguini. The Fra Diavolo Sauce was perfectly spiced which means it had a nice heat to it without being overly spicy. The linguini was cooked nicely. The seafood was cooked just right and had a nice helping of scallops and shrimp. Overall a very good meal. read more

For nearly $30 a plate, our piccata was not breaded, the chicken was tough, and our pasta was not even cooked al deńte. The Alfredo wasn't palatable, and the seafood bisque was salty. The mussels were good, and the bread was tasty! The service wasn't bad, if you only want friendly faces and mussels it's not too bad. I just had dinner at Mannino's on Saturday night. I read some of the other reviews, particularly on price point, and I have to ask, where do these people normally dine? Because clearly they think that really decent Italian food should be $18 for an entree. Hate to break it to you, good food is priced where Mannino's is. That aside, the food was very, very good, some of the best Italian I have had in the South Jersey area frankly, and I am a food snob. The service was excellent, the bill was what I would expect for this quality (around $20+ for pasta $30+ for seafood, etc.) The appetizers were excellent, Caesar salad was spot on, the salmon was cooked perfectly and its BYO! Now my only complaint, and it is a South Jersey thing... come on people look in the mirror before you leave the house! Gym shorts, your 400 lb fat a*s, and a tank top? Come on! The owner/management really needs to set a dress standard, any standard, and stick to it. I don't think jeans and a collared shirt is asking too too much, dressy shorts, whatever. Because wow and I mean WOW the night we went this table of 8 total WT showed up, and they all looked like they rolled out of the barcalounger after the Rockford Files re-run ended, threw on the first piece of clothing off the floor that cat hadn't pissed on and headed out.
