    Sausage pepperoni 12" pizza

Authentic Italian restaurant friendly staff and the pizza was tasty and the crust was crispy. The ambiance is a bit dated but it works. I will definitely be back to try the other Italian dishes.

What a great first experience at this Italian BYOB! A hidden gem, as mentioned by other Yelpers. We had a party of seven with no reservation and were promptly seated. They start you with A LOT of breads for the table. The garlic bread with tomato sauce was fantastic! For meals, we picked off the menu and evening specials. I had chicken/ shrimp / scallops in a tomato basil sauce over penne that was so good. Some of the others had the bolognese over spaghetti, Pomodoro Basilico, Crab legs, shrimp/ Mussels Pomodoro. Everyone raved about their dishes! We finished with some homemade, freshly prepared cannolis and tiramisu. The cannolis were incredible. I'd highly recommend if on the area and looking for good, reasonably priced Italian. The BYOB makes it even better. Staff was five stars from start to finish!!!

I took a friend on a date in New Jersey to Villa Nuova Ristorante & Pizzeria and it was FANTASTIC! I wanted to make sure that the first Italian food I ate on the east coast would be authentic. The staff was so friendly in a down-to-earth way, putting up with my constant questions and feedback. It was a seriously wonderful experience. The joint is clean, quiet, and has plenty of seating. Parking was plentiful and the exterior was well-maintained. The bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. The staff is efficient and friendly, with a single server and their busser dutifully attending the patrons. The restaurant is BYOB, which disappointed me, since I wanted to enjoy a glass of red wine with dinner. That's on me; I'm not used to that. The complementary bread wasn't really anything special, but the pizza slices were very tasty with crunchy and soft crust that whet my appetite. The salad was fresh and what one would expect; I drizzled balsamic on it and enjoyed it as a palette cleanser. I asked the server for their recommendations and took her up on the stuffed mushrooms with crab, peppers, garlic, and butter. I inquired for the recipe, but apparently that's a secret. The mushrooms were cooked just enough to bring out their robust flavor while not being overcooked. The crab absolutely melted in my mouth; each bite was delectable. Slightly crispy on top, loaded with buttery garlic goodness best enjoyed with a spoon to sop up all the oils and butter. My stuffed shells were magnificent! The ricotta was so rich and creamy. The mozzarella melted perfectly, pairing well with the best red sauce this native Californian has ever tasted. I wanted to cry... I legitimately teared up while savoring bite after bite. I saved half of the entree, trusting that baking it in the oven wouldn't diminish its glory. The pasta was just the right level of firm... no overcooked army noodles and ketchup at this joint! I asked question after question, sharing my love for food and trying to gain insights into the cooking process. I used to work in restaurants and attended a culinary arts program in high school,. This entire meal was top-notch. The chef was classically trained and has quite the resume! I sent my complements and asked about desserts. Ultimately I decided against it, since they're not made in-house, but trusted that they would be high quality. No frozen treats were available, but the tiramisu and cheesecake were tempting options. As an openly transgender woman, it's important to me to feel safe and dignified: I'll admit that while the server had a hard time gendering me correctly, she was so respectful and kind. She definitely didn't mean any disrespect and no offense was taken! The owner actually went out of their way to correct her in front of the staff and myself. We even had a charming conversation after the bill was settled, discussing food, family, and fast cars. I told him that California Italian restaurant owners should wear concrete shoes and tour the Delaware... I can't believe the trash I ate back home. So fn goodt!!!

Enjoyed early dinner with wife and family there 5/3. Ordered to veal chop with peppers , tomatoes and a wine sauce with angel hair pasta. It was very good and perfect portion for dinner. The restaurant has an extensive and excellent menu options. Service was good and quick.

Absolutely wonderful! Such a hidden gem! The food is absolutely outstanding and the staff is so sweet and REAL Italian! Walking in and being greeted by their accents melted my heart and made me feel like I was listening to my grandfather talk. The Alfredo is amazing. The chicken parm is to die for, and they give you so much bread with you meal, but they give you mini tomato pie slices! We'll definitely be coming back every time we're in Deptford!

Had a dinner party here yesterday for my grandsons 20 th birthday and we were all blown away with the food and the service each dish we tried was better then the last and we ordered a lot of food for the table our waiter was wonderful so pleasant took the time to tell us about specials and his recommendations the atmosphere with the Italian music reminded me of being in my grandmothers kitchen on Sunday's with all the wonderful smells the laughing and that home feeling I just can't say enough about this restaurant my husband and I will be returning for dinner every time we are in town visiting my grandson at college . Highly recommend!! You won't be disappointed.

    Chicken Francese

A hidden gem! Went out for a dinner date here last night and were surprised to be the only people dining in the entire restaurant! Wonderful service and food was amazing. Ordered the Rigatoni alla Vodka and Chicken Francese! Tasted amazing, had the best pizza bread for the table and the Minestrone soup and Caprese were some of the best we ever had! Hope this place gets the buisness it deserves soon!

Ordered dinner tonight and we were excited for chicken Cacciatore and veal Francese . I'm sorry to say but the veal Francese was just bad the sauce was runny And so much lemon I could use it for a lemonade and the meal overall lacked flavor. The chicken as well lack flavor and was in great need of garlic. The soup was Pasta fagioli it was disgusting. It was a weird color nearly no pasta a white bean. Maybe I'm used to food with flavor and finesse. I paid $63 for crap. I am so disappointed.

Villa Nuova is a hidden gem! This is the best Italian food around!! The restaurant has old school charm. The bread is to die for! they have both rolls and pizza bread! You get a choice of soup or salad and the dinner portions are very generous portions. Our appetizer was asparagus with chopped prosciutto, mushrooms and tomatoes in a glaze sauce that was delicious! My husband had the fried ravioli dinner with a cream sauce, which was a special, My friend had shrimp, clams and crabmeat over blush marinara type sauce and I had an amazing veal dish with spinach, crabmeat, sun dried tomatoes with a white wine sauce. The dishes were beautiful. It is a BYOB. I highly recommend this place. This place is owned by family, Peppe is the owner/chef and you can definitely tell. I will be frequenting here more often. The atmosphere was calm and quiet even with the other tables that were dining. Some restaurants have a bunch of staff zooming by your table. This place is a must.

We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the bar, and we were so impressed by how friendly the bartenders were. They were engaging and social. They set off our evening on a high note! My Pink Jaguar cocktail was beautiful and caused quite a buzz among the bar patrons! We opted to sit outside, and we are glad we did. The space is open and breezy but fully covered. No need to worry if a passing shower makes its way overhead. Steamed clams in white wine and Truffle fries for the table to start. Yum! All entrees are accompanied by a house salad or Ceasar salad. Our group ordered the Limone Chicken, Chicken Sfiziosa, Steak Frite, and the Eggplant Meatballs/Risotto. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. We loved everything. I know their linguine is house made, but not certain of the other pasta varietals. Cheesecake and Cannoli for dessert, because why not? Really nice experience! Our server was sweet and super-efficient. My only question for Filomena's Lakeview is "Where is the lake?" :)

We arrived around 3:45 PM without reservations and they immediately took us to an open table. Iced Waters were instant. Our server was very pleasant and she took our order. Bread quickly followed with two types served: Italian with sesame seeds and focaccia; however I was puzzled that it was served with a plate of hot peppers and onions in a juice. It seemed off but perhaps it's a Jersey thing. I've been all over in Italy and have never seen this. Olive oil would have been fine along with a splash of balsamic vinegar. Either way I skipped bread condiments. Next came the Fried Tomatoes topped with Lump Crab as an appetizer, but once again I had another head-scratcher, as this dish wasn't typical. First the entire dish lacked seasoning plus salt. Then red tomatoes were used and we all know what happens when you try to fry one. It turns to water after you cut it. The lump crab is what probably made this dish pricey but 3 thinly slices of a red tomato caught me off guard. Now for the final knock out: I ordered the Bone In Pork Chop and impressed that I was asked how Iiked it prepared? I said 145 degrees. She said, you mean well- done. I stated no, that would be in a range of medium. Lo and behold, it was fantastically preparation temperature, but it came topped with the same peppers and onions concoction that came out with the bread. I had no idea that this was a smothered situation. My broccolini was also a mystery. The mashed potatoes were mid. Now on to my daughter's chicken Parmesan: She said that it lacked flavor and had to add salt and pepper and also stated that the sauce was loose and there was too little of it. My wife enjoyed her Salmon. Jersey is cooking differently!!!!! I forgot to add: Underneath of my pork chop I discovered a mysterious piece of corn. I had no corn in my dish??????

Small, quaint, authentic, family, quiet-ish, intimate, outstanding, I could probably keep going but let me get to the food. Not a ton of seating so I would highly recommend a reservation. For entrees my wife had the Cheese Wheel, served table side, not just a fun novelty, it was excellent. I have never in 14 years seen her eat that much pasta and that fast. I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. We find their prices to be quite reasonable, as costs have recently skyrocketed. I'm guessing the man complaining about the salad upcharge hasn't been shopping for produce in quite a while. Should the restaurant lose money because you think since its your birthday, or whatever, you should get something more expensive instead of the free option already offered? Restaurants have had to adjust due to costs- I think Cotardo's has done an excellent job of balancing value with quality. Also want to mention that their servers are amazing!
