Blue Angel Tire and Automotive had been doing my oil changes, but they were closing within the hour; I went to Take 5; the manager John said he needed to replace my drain plug with an oversized plug, and advised me to return to Blue Angel Automotive to ask them to replace my oil pan. I get a call and was told they think its this and that they wanted me to buy this part and I was like thinking "wait, isn't that what you guys do since you're the mechanics?" Some time went by and I call and they're not working on it and some more time goes by. Finally I call and trying to figure out wth is up with this? I have never seen anything like this in my life with mechanic shop. Lady finally lays it all out and what it was is they didn't have the equipment to properly diagnose the issue but they "thought" it was this certain part that I had never heard of. They were wanting me to buy the part, and if they were correct they would install it, I pay, this transaction is complete. If they were wrong, I would have eaten the cost of this part which was around $200. Instead of telling me straight up the first time that they didnt have the stuff to really diagnose it and that I was being asked to gamble my money on the part and if they are wrong I would be out of the money, they conveniently did not tell me that. After looking at how things had been so far I quickly decided this was not who I wanted working on my car or doing business with. I took my vehicle to a nearby mechanic. They had it fixed in less than a day AND ..... DRUMROLL ...... the problem wasn't even what Blue Angel Tire told me it was so I would have lost that money on the part combined with their incompetence and dishonesty. I have never in my life seen a circus quite like this one. I would not have been angry or had any problem with them being honest and saying hey we really don't have the equipment to truly diagnose this. Totally understand and thank you for letting me know but thats not even close to what happened and they were totally willing to let me throw my money down the drain on something they turned out to be wrong about. I would give them zero stars if that were an option.

They wanted almost $300 or more to replace it, when it would've only been an extra $50 - $100 if one of the 3 ASE Certified Mechanics had thought about it, or was it a way to be sure I would bring it back and pay more money? I do not recommend taking any chances with this repair shop. They used to be all about the Customers but now it is all about the billing.

After confirming the problem James checked to see if the parts where in stock, which they were, and gave me a very reasonable estimate as well as a military discount which is always appreciated. He originally projected to be able to get the project done in one day but it ended up taking 2.5 days due to all the rust. Joe plugged in his high-tech malfunction analyzer. The indication was a continuous misfire on the #7 cylinder. I replaced the coil, the plug, and I checked the wire for resistance. There seems to be a deeper issue so, I called Sandi again and she told me to call on Monday morning to see when I can have the car towed up to the shop. When they left my house on Friday, I asked how much I owed them for driving down and checking the car. Sandi said, "No charge". WOW! I'm hoping to get the car up to them today or tomorrow.
