Stopped in on a busy Mother's Day afternoon after a long walk to get some drinks. Place was absolutely crowded but room at the bar. Inside is truly unique blend of African safari, Aussie chefs complete with hats wood grilling tomahawks and tons of meat right in the middle of the restaurant. Decor is again rather unique with a mix of wood, soft furnishings, drapes, brass and stuffed exotic animals (which im sure are clever fakes) Josh at the bar was awesome, not just for me but extremely attentive and quick at delivery. Remembered drink preferences, even an unusual order i made which he delivered perfectly after serving 2 others who joined me. Everyone behind the bar kept my water topped up and the bar free of soiled napkins and empty glasses. Prices were extremely reasonable. Few drafts on tap and am extensive bar and cocktail selection. Definitely going to return back to enjoy the food, smelled wonderful.
The vibe at this place is really cool! Dress up in some fun animal print and enjoy a fun night out. The prices are a little steep but it's a nice place so it wasn't anything crazy imo. The menu had some unique options. We tried several things and all the food was really delicious and came out quickly. My only complaint is that the waitress boxed our food up for us and she didn't box up any of the cheese that came with the potatoes which was really disappointing since it was so delicious and there was a decent amount left. She did however box up a few pieces of lettuce that were more garnish than anything on top of the leftover steak so I had to pull off old, stale lettuce from my leftovers before heating them up.
Filthy Animal is an upscale restaurant located in Tempe. Every single angle of this restaurant is aesthetic. I like the open kitchen and all the animal/plant decor. My bestie and I went here for brunch. We ordered some dishes to share: -Pibil Dumplings: The beef short rib tasted more like sausage, and the combination of red pepper flakes with pineapple tasted like pizza. Our server highly recommended this and we thought it was decent. -Cast Iron Brie: Melted brie with grapes, strawberries, and pecans. It wasn't anything special. -Shishito Caesar: Basically a caesar salad with *some* shishito peppers. I was expecting more shishito. It was mid. -Flat iron steak & eggs: This wasn't anything special. The steak was chewy although it had a strong smokey flavor, almost like bbq. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the scalloped potatoes. -Beverages: I ordered the espresso martini which was not bad, and my bestie ordered the house blend red wine which was pretty light. Service was good. However, there was a TON of fruit flies that wouldn't stop bugging us. They landed all over our food - it's as if there was an infestation. The food wasn't good enough to return, especially for brunch. It's a cute spot but I don't think it's worth the price.
We literally drove by this place and I saw the name of the restaurant and I said we have to go there.! We came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was amazing! I love the ambience and the vibe and the decor. It's super chic and cool. The staff is super nice and friendly! The menu is super simple, but has a lot of great options! I got the simple breakfast and because I'm gluten-free they just doubled up my bacon instead of the toast. Every bite was amazing. My husband got the iron flat steak with eggs and he also loved his meal. I got a mocktail and it was so beautiful and it taste so refreshing. I definitely would come back to this place again when I'm back in town. I highly recommend.!
The ambiance here is gorgeous with the exotic animal decor and dimmed lights. Our meal was cooked to perfection and the ribeye melted in your mouth. Cocktails we had wise decisions, old fashion, and a pornstar martini which were all very well mixed! The speakeasy is located inside the restaurant which has an 80s feel to it. Service was great and our waitress checked up on us frequently. I highly recommend this spot if you're in the area!
Came to celebrate my birthday and I loved it! Got the tropical mocktail and it was not that great. We got the Brie for appetizer and it was good. For the meal I got the filet and omg! So good! It had a little kick to it but I love the wood fire taste to it. Also I love the open kitchen concept! The ambiance is a vibe! Also was able to get a complementary burger cake. It was good. It was ice cream. The server was nice.
We loved everything. The Aloha From Hawaii, Pibil Dumplings, Tiradito, Campfire Seabass, White Oak Grilled Chicken Skewers, and the Ice Cream Cake were all delicious! Inside is gorgeous, very glamorous, ornate, and detailed oriented. I made a reservation the week of for date night and highly recommend doing that since it gets busy. There was a 15-20min wait for those who did not make a reservation when I was there.
Lions and tigers and bears oh my! This restaurant was on my to-do list. My sister surprise me for my birthday and took me there for lunch. We arrived at this restaurant around 2:30. When you approached the restaurant, we were visually greeted with a 60s style cloth awning and as we entered the restaurant, our eyes were greeted with pleasant Safari style decor, and low lighting. Since we had missed the lunch rush, there was plenty of open seating. We were quickly seated at a curved booth. It was comfortable and we loved the decor in the center of the table. Please see photos below. I had the flank steak which came with french fries and an arugula salad. My sister ordered the pork belly skewers, and my niece ordered the chicken skewers. We started our meal off with the edamame hummus. The hummus was delicious and I loved that instead of being served with pita bread, It was served with plantain chips. My flank steak was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed my arugula salad, but I do wish my french fries were not cold. I tried some of the chicken and pork belly skewers. They were also very tasty and so was the rice that accompanied them. The rice had a unique flavor. I believe I tasted a slight fennel flavor mixed in with the other delicious spices. Since it was my birthday, they brought out a piece of their birthday ice cream cake. I loved the cake on top with the ice cream on the bottom. My favorite part was probably scooping the ice cream up with the broken waffle cone that the cake was topped with. It really was a delicious birthday dessert. Our service name was Amber and she was very engaging. She had several recommendations that were her favorites. I especially enjoyed her drink recommendation, which was called the Jungle Thyme. It was a combination of martinique rhum, cachaca, suava, orgeat, grapefruit, lime & thyme. It was very delicious.
The food was amazing. Ambiance was a little dark but still a very nice setting for a cute little date or whatever you choose. The service was amazing I can't remember our servers name but she was fast and understanding as well as kind and cheery. The place is a bit pricey but definitely worth it.
I liked the moody, dark vibe. It was cool seeing the grilling pit with all the meat cuts hanging above. I had two margaritas and they were perfect -- not too sweet. I also had the edamame, but it neede more salt to really bring out the savory flavor. Overall, the service was attentive and helpful. One design flaw: the bathroom door handle. Both my girlfriend and I got hit by the peacock door knob. I think the placement is a bit too high and the door itself is heavy, so it swings back pretty hard. I'd come back, my kinda place.
Filthy Animal has only been on our radar for a hot minute, but WOW are we glad someone put it there! We were headed to a show nearby and couldn't have picked a more perfectly located spot. From the second you walk in, you feel like you've been transported to some retro jungle-chic hideaway -- animal print everywhere, moody vibes, and the staff rocking classy vintage-style uniforms. It's giving glam safari and we were here for it. To kick things off, I ordered the vegan ceviche with a jalapeño margarita -- and let me tell you... they understood the assignment. The pop of pomegranate with the sweetness of plantain? Absolute texture magic. Meanwhile, the cast-iron melted brie at our table had everyone swooning. Sadly it wasn't GF so I had to live vicariously through their blissful bites -- but honestly, watching that cheese pull was its own experience. For mains, my husband chose the Lemongrass Half Chicken. Plot twist: when it arrived, the low lighting disguised the fact that it was quite undercooked (only reason for the 4 stars). Once we realized, the staff handled it like total pros -- kind, apologetic, and beyond accommodating. They offered to remake it or switch it out entirely. He pivoted to the Ancho Chili Glazed Pork Chop and OH. MY. WORD. If there was ever a silver lining to a chicken mishap, this was it. That pork chop was DIVINE -- juicy, flavorful, absolute perfection. I went with the Bomba Rice and it was STELLAR. Every bite was bold and satisfying. To top off their incredible hospitality, the manager surprised us with a chocolate blackberry dessert. It was stunning -- and that rich, creamy chocolate ice cream (the GF portion)? A dream. All in all, we'll absolutely be back... just maybe sticking to literally everything except the chicken.
Whew my first dining experience in Arizona did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I came out for Valentine's Day and since it was my first time ever in Arizona, I was really excited to try the food. Safe to say it lived up to the hype. I ordered the Wise Decision to start and it was so good, super refreshing and easy to drink. We got the milk bread, tuna pineapple ceviche, and the Pibil dumplings and honestly everything hit. The milk bread was warm and soft with that perfect buttery pull. The ceviche was fresh and bright with sweet pineapple that made the tuna pop. The dumplings were flavorful and savory with just the right amount of spice. I also had to try the melted cast iron brie and wow. It came out hot and creamy with fruit and pecans and every bite was sweet, salty, and rich in the best way. My boyfriend ordered the white oak grilled chicken skewers and those were easily a ten out of ten. Juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. We didn't stay for mains because we had other reservations, but after that lineup we already know we're coming back for the full experience. Our waitress Amber was super sweet and attentive which made it even better. Coming from Miami, I have high expectations when it comes to food, and this definitely delivered. I'll be back for sure.
We had such a fun night at The Filthy Animal! From the moment we walked in, I loved the decor. It's dark, moody, and stylish without being overdone. The animal patterns add just the right touch of personality to the space. We were running late because of traffic and called ahead, they were super accommodating, which we really appreciated. We started with cocktails and wine, followed by a handful of appetizers to share. We ordered the Milk Bread, Dumplings, Melted Cast Iron Brie, Ceviche, and Edamame Hummus. Everything was delicious, though portions lean on the smaller side. The Ceviche and Hummus both came with Plantation chips that we enjoyed. The Milk Bread butter looked like a little strawberry on top, which was a cute presentation. The Warm Brie was rich and gooey! For entrees, our table ordered the Lemongrass Chicken, Chicken Skewers, and the Fried Rice, which was amazing. It has mushrooms, carrots, and peas, great flavor. I wanted to try the Oyster Mushroom skewers, but they were out. I also had my eye on the Campfire Branzino, but it's cooked in a chorizo broth. They said they could make it without the chorizo but that it would take away from the intended flavor of the dish, which I respected but was still a little disappointed about. I ended up ordering the Grilled Oysters (came with three) and the Shishito Caesar. Both were good, though again, portions are on the smaller side and the Caesar definitely had a spicy kick! One thing that surprised me for such a creative menu, there isn't a seafood entree option that isn't mixed with meat. The only real seafood entrées are the Branzino (with chorizo) or the Lobster (with pork belly). Would love to see a standalone seafood option in the future! Our server was darling, very friendly. We had theater tickets so she made sure to keep us on schedule. I also loved the server's outfits, animal print scarves, white 2 piece dress, and Lululemon fanny packs, super cute. We peeked at the outdoor patio before we left, and it looks like a really cool spot to hang out, especially on a nice evening. Filthy Animal has a great vibe, service, and flavorful food. Just keep in mind the portions are on the smaller side, and the strictly seafood options are limited. We'll be back to try a few more things and hopefully those mushroom skewers next time! read more

We came from out of town and happened to be walking by this restaurant and decided to try it out. This place exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing while the food was smoky and full of delicious flavor. The servers and hostesses were all very lovely and welcoming. Overall, I would most definitely come back to this place when I visit AZ once again. read more

What an experience! This restaurant had me at the name alone, but the things that really got my blood pumping began on arrival. I arrived to find that a couple "accidentally" took my parties reservation. Once sorted an order of oysters was delivered to our table. Since we'd yet to put in an order we flagged down a waitress who apologized and told us to eat them. A few minutes later another snatched the plate away mid bite- I literally had the shell in my hand. It's a good thing we remember experiences by how they end, right?! And this one ended beautifully. From the milk bread with miso tomato butter to the bomba rice, and lamb chops each dish and drink left our table wanting more. Everything was well seasoned, prepared properly, and full of flavor. After a few drinks and bites, the team graciously adjusted our reservation at Drop Dead Gorgeous- the accompanying speakeasy, and ensured we'd arrive in time to have another drink or two. As the last party of the night, they walked us over, connected us with our server and wished us an amazing evening. All and all, we arrived on a busy night, and I really appreciate this team. Apart from a few initial hiccups, the hospitality we received was unmatched. I visit Phoenix a few times a year. Wow, great design and ambiance. Very upscale and awesome open kitchen area. Wish there was seating to watch the chiefs do their magic. Service was wonderful and Holland was very attentive and had great timing throughout the whole service. Had oysters and the steak tartare for appetizers and I'll be back just to have a drink and the steak tartare. Incredible flavor. . I had the Short Rib which was so tender no knife needed Friends had filet and whole lobster. The pasta with the lobster was out of this world and could stand on its own. One of the best culinary experiences I've had in some time . They hit all the senses here . Every single staff member was well put together and on point as far as great service . Michelin Star incoming. I said what I said. When the Michelin Guide finally realizes Arizona exists, Filthy Animal is getting drafted first round! Chef Rene Vargas is either a genius or legally insane (in the best way). The food here had me questioning reality. I was out here apologizing to plates before I destroyed them. Highlights: * Pineapple tuna ceviche = melt city * Pibil dumplings = edible artwork * That mozzarella stick thing = quite literally the greatest bite of food I've ever had. I saw God. He winked. For mains, I got the bone-in ribeye cooked like it had something to prove. My lady had the lemongrass chicken which was so juicy it could solve world peace. Then we shared the spicy lobster mac and stared silently at each other like, "Are we okay??" Our server Levi has psychic powers. Nostradamus level powers. She brought stuff before we even knew we needed it. If she told me to invest in Bitcoin again, I'd do it. Best dinner I've had in my LIFE. Also, ask about the speakeasy in the back called Drop Dead Gorgeous. You're welcome. 10/10 would ruin these plates again. Came here for my birthday which also happened to be AZ Restaurant Week and WOW. Just wow. I could write a book about why you should eat at filthy animal, I was truly blown away by the quality food, outstanding service and elevated ambiance. The dumplings were the best I've ever had. I wish so deeply they'd make them a regular menu item. The Long Island cut? So unique, melt in your mouth, put-a-man-to-sleep good. The miso cheesecake? Unlike anything I've had before. I was weary at first, but I ended up ordering a second it was so good! Overall, probably the best meal I've had in years. Perfect all around, everything crafted by Pretty Decent Concepts quickly becomes a favorite of mine. read more

Really unique ambiance, they leaned into this safari, animorphic vibe. Service was awesome and it seems every part of staff helps out, coming by to drop off dishes as they are ready or refill drinks. The decorations and look of the place seems really upscale. You can see them cooking the tomahawk steaks and other dishes very clearly as they have an open kitchen. The bread is phenomenal. The asparagus i could do without the pomegranate. Their steak says it comes with potato.. which is does but 3 small pieces.. Service was okay.. Would i come back.. unlikely. read more

We came to celebrate our anniversary and loved the aesthetic of the restaurant; perfect for date night. The dessert was fantastic, highly recommend the miso cheesecake! This restaurant is absolutely very unique and creative! The staff was very nice and welcoming when I walked in with my party. We choose to sit outside and the attentive server we had was amazing! After driving by this place for the last several months and curious which restaurant would take over this prime location on Mill & University where P.F. Chang's was for many years, I chose it for my birthday dinner. This place has a vibe for sure! Expertly over the top decorated, an unbelievably mouthwatering menu, fabulous mixology concoctions, phenomenal service by every person you encounter, and a wonderful whole evening was had by all. Loved the numerous vegetarian and vegan options for my guy, and our PHENOMENAL server Parker knew all of the extras in the sauces to help out greatly. Can't wait to revisit again and again! I was happy to see it was busy inside and out on a Wednesday night by the time we left, but should be said it never felt super loud where you have to yell at each other to talk. -- We also had drinks beforehand and a couple of appetizers in the Drop Dead Gorgeous speakeasy located inside, which was also an unforgettable experience and I will review separately. Came here on a Thursday evening and was surprised how busy they are. Good thing I made reservations, so make sure you make reservations. Loved the decor, it's like I'm walking into a modern/bohemian safari! So fun! A lot of similarities to Wren and Wolf but the food is different. Had a flare to it which I enjoyed! Everything is very flavorful! Started off with the following: Oysters with aguachile foam, fresno relish and they were delicious! The topping on it didn't over power it which is good! Tuna Pineapple Ceviche - very flavorful! Our server recommended and it was a great appetizer to start with! Main course: Flambadou Tomahawk 42oz cooked medium, served table side with a fire show! So good! It came with a decent side (full size) arugula salad that paired well with the steak! Bone-In-short rib with black beans. It was good too, but the tomahawk stole the show! Not sure if I like it paired with the black beans but the meat is tender. We ordered a side of Whipped Potatoes and it is very buttery! Enjoyed it! Dessert: Went with the birthday cake ice cream cake and a miso cheesecake. All is delicious! read more
Checked out Filthy Animal in Tempe recently. Our server was great. super attentive and friendly, but unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to the hype. It was just okay and felt overpriced for the quality. The vibe of the place is cool, and it definitely has potential as a fun spot to grab drinks, but for the price point I was expecting the food to stand out more. Might come back for the atmosphere and service, but probably not for the food. read more

Went here for dinner while in town for a festival and it was Amazing!! Every single plate we got was delicious and beautiful. Portions were great for a fine dining place and service was great. Beautiful restaurant super cool decor on the inside, kind of a weird location for an upscale spot but they nailed the inside. Very friendly service / bartenders were all super nice and professional. We came here for my husband's birthday on a Sunday evening with 6:45 reservations for a booth & upon entering we were greeted by two lovely hostesses whom seated us promptly! This was our first time dining here & already we were loving this whole other level of an eclectic, safari like vibe to go with the adventurous menu selections that we were about to discover! We were greeted by our server Riley who was very attentive & offered many suggestions.. we chose the Grilled Oysters & Baked Brie to start! Being the fact these are prepared on an open flame they were brought out quickly but that's okay we've been anticipating this meal all day! The oysters were definitely on the rich side with the smokiness from the flame & the cheese, they were delish.... a dish we'd be sure to get again! The Baked Brie was another great choice, the combination of the richness of the Brie with the sweetness of the fruit then the added pecans was so perfectly paired! Once our entrees came out we knew we made the right choices, my husband had the Grilled Pork Chop sitting on the bed of rice plus the side of sweet potato. My husband was so happy with everything, perfectly grilled chop seasoned just right & he was loving the rice... the sweet potato had a nice twist to it with the preparation, a must for sweet potato fans!! I went with the lobster, I saw it & knew more than half was coming home... it was that big! The lobster was cooked perfectly, loved the smokiness from the grill & the macaroni had a bit of spice from the chili peppers.... also the pasta was a solid noodle not a hollow rigatoni yet perfectly cooked, very unique.... loved the whole dish! We ended our meal with the ice cream birthday cake off the dessert menu because it looked so good & for birthdays they instead gave the gelato as a complimentary birthday treat! Well I'm not going to lie we were definitely looking forward to this very unique dessert & it did not disappoint.... FYI so big we couldn't finish it all, but the birthday cake flavor was spot on! The Filthy Animal definitely did not disappoint... from the moment that we stepped in the door & was greeted by the lovely hostesses then throughout our whole dining experience with the service that we received from Riley as well as all other staff members alike! Filthy Animal in Tempe was so good! Delicious food, great service, AND they validated parking (win win!). After dinner, we tried their speakeasy Drop Dead Gorgeous. Just ask your server or hostess and they'll help move you over. Such a fun experience, and the food was amazing! read more
The ambiance is so beautiful here. Love the concept and the decor. The food was average in my opinion. All the presentations look great but the actual taste is good but nothing special in my opinion. Appetizers all came out st different times and not alll together. The ribeye was more rare than mid rare so my sister couldn't eat it. The server gave us a graduation ice cream cake to celebrate but the cake was stale and not good at all. Good service tho! read more

I wanted to love this place so much but I was a little disappointed. :( My friends and I decided to have a girls night here to celebrate our graduation... we all decided to get different items and share! The appetizers were GREAT! We got the pibil dumplings and the melted cast iron brie. After the appetizers, we had high hopes for our main course. For our main dishes, we got the bone in short rib, lemongrass half chicken, chicken skewers with fried rice, and the glazed pork chops. Everything but the glazed pork chops were okay... nothing mind blowing for the price. The glazed pork chops were immensely salty... not eatable at all. We told someone who seemed to be the manager, they were very apologetic and asked if we'd like something else for no cost & removed the glazed pork out of our check, which was nice of them! Later, they brought out a new plate of the pork chops, the waiter said they had an extra one so decided to give it to us. It was still salty in my opinion but much more eatable. The service wasn't the greatest. We felt like our table was getting ignored... After over 40 minutes or more after taking our drink order we had to call out our waiter to take our appetizer order. Even after that, they took a while to come back for our main course order. Lastly, while we were waiting on our food, another waiter accidently dropped a drink on one of my friends... mistakes happen! Even though my friend was freezing, as the drink fell all over her back, we totally understood and knew it was an honest mistake... because of the incident they took all of our drinks out of our check and were offered free dessert. Because of how long everything was taking we decided to skip on the dessert. All in all, this place was beautiful! I've tried some of the other places from the same group like Chico Malo and Wren and Wolf, but I liked the food even better here at Filthy Animal. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything we had was really good. Of course the service and ambience were also top notch. This is a great place for a nice meal and a good time. I took a chance on the grilled cabbage and didn't regret choosing that over the steak. It had a lot of flavor and was just as filling as the steak. read more

We went here last night for our anniversary dinner. The steaks are fantastic! Well seasoned and cooked perfectly! I got the filet and my wife got the ribeye. They come with an arugula salad and 3 small smoked potatoes. The salad was very good and I liked the potatoes but my wife didn't care for the smoked flavor. Our server was great! They gave us a free birthday cake dessert which was very big and delicious. It's pretty loud inside with the music playing. There are some tables outside too. I heard there is a speakeasy in here but we didn't try to check it out. read more

Updated review: I've been to Filthy Animal 3 times now. I've enjoyed it every single time. First time came for dinner seated at the bar & then drinks at Drop Dead Gorgeous shortly after they opened. 2nd time had a cocktail at the main bar and then more drinks & snacks back in DDG, and this time sitting in the dining room near the cheetah, center area. I had asked in my Rez to be seated near there and they did honor it. We didn't visit to DDG even though we wanted to. It was full that time and I didn't make a rez for that. Service has been excellent each time, drinks are so good and on point from what I've tried, very spirit forward, and I have enjoyed all the appetizers and entrees I've eaten. The only thing that was "eh" was the birthday ice cream cake. I liked the ice cream and waffle cone part but found the cake pieces were a bit too dry, but I'm incredibly picky about cake. We wanted to try a different dessert option but they were out, so that was our back up choice. I wouldn't order it again. Otherwise, everything was repeat worthy. Filthy Animal is a winner in my book. It's worth noting that the smoke detector went off for about 10-15 minutes during our dinner the other night. I had read some reviews people mentioned it. They clearly need to get that figured out and fixed, since it's noticeable and annoying. However the manager came by and comped our first round of drinks so I thought that was excellent service. I was in Tempe for work and decided to try a steakhouse near my hotel on my last night, and...wow! Filthy Animal has an amazing atmosphere coupled with amazing food and service. Birthdays, work dinners, dates, seems like they all fit very well here. The steak they serve was definitely the highlight - perfectly cooked and seasoned just right for flavoring. The salads surprised me a lot though - if I wasn't such a steak lover, I would've said that it was the best thing on the menu! If I come to to Tempe, I'll definitely try to stop by again - definitely one of my top 5 steakhouses so far! read more
Interesting spot! I've always been a fan of Wren & Wolf so I was excited to try this spot. The architecture is beautiful, the atmosphere is why I wanted to come. Be sure to stop into Drop Dead Gorgeous if you're able, it's a fun little speakeasy within the restaurant. I will say, I was a bit disappointed when I made a reservation days prior only to be told we'd be sitting outside on a triple digit day. There was no budging, I'm not exactly sure where that mixup happened. We did end up sitting at the bar, though the seats are not super friendly for short people. Bartenders were nice but flustered, almost felt a tad rushed. The service inside Drop Dead Gorgeous was great. read more

Let's start off with saying the ambience and entrance was great. You immediately get that Wren and Wolf vibe with their taxidermy artwork displayed around the restaurant. As for our server, Vivian, she went above and beyond to help make this dinner special by first moving us to a table thats more intimate for an anniversary dinner, and providing us with a free glass Champagne to start the night, and making great recommendations when we were torn between different appetizers. Toradita- 5/5- I liked that the yellowtail was not dipped or drenched in the sauce, but put on the side for us to dip to our liking. As for the sauce, which had a charred flavor of smoke/wood fire but was not overpowering the sweetness of the peach. Drink- I don't remember the exact name of our drinks, but their version of espresso martini was delicious. Bone-in ribeye- 3.5/5- this is where my star deduction came from as this should've been the highlight entries with a price tag of $169. The presentation was great, but the meat was so tough to chew. 7/5/25. We came here for a friend's birthday dinner last night and had great time! The parking garage we parked at was a bit of a walk, especially in heels. We didn't know there was valet closer. TIP: If you drive towards Hot & Juicy, you'll see the valet. I loved the vibe of the place as soon as we walked up to it. The music and decor paired perfectly well together. Our server, Noah, was great! He was nice, knowledgeable, checked in on us often and even came by to provide updates on the status of our drinks and food. Drinks: Summertime Friends Jungle Thyme Bee Something Have You Heard of Mexcal x2 Pedalhaus White Rabbit IPA Tequila Soda Food: Grilled Oysters Chilled Oysters Tiradito Milk Bread 42oz Ribeye Mashed Potatoes Lamb Chop Bomba Rice Miso Cheesecake w/ Vanilla Gelato Jungle Thyme cocktail was pretty good. Love guava and grapefruit. Grilled oysters had good flavor. Chilled oysters were fresh but wasn't really feeling the relish in it. I didn't try the lamb chops or the Bomba Rice but everything else was delicious! They made a mistake with our steak and brought out a filet. However, they knew before they brought it to us and said the ribeye would be out soon and that the filet would be on them. Thank you! Both steaks were fantastic. If you have room for dessert, try the miso cheesecake! If you loved their sister restaurant, Wren & Wolf, you'll definitely love this one too. From the moment you walk in, the space is stunning -- moody lighting, rich fabrics, oversized art pieces, and even a taxidermied jaguar set the tone. It feels like something you'd expect in downtown Phoenix or Scottsdale, yet it's right on the corner of ASU. The energy is upscale, dark, sexy, and a touch dangerous -- with a roaring fire crackling in the center of the open kitchen. We started with the Pibil Dumplings with short rib -- tender, flavorful, and a perfect bite to set the mood -- and the oysters with aguachile foam, which were fresh, bright, and had just the right kick. The Campfire Branzino with chorizo sofrito was beautifully cooked, the chorizo adding a deep, smoky richness. From there, the lamb chops were perfectly seasoned and cooked to a juicy medium-rare, while the bone-in short rib melted in your mouth. The whipped potatoes were smooth, buttery, and indulgent. But the true highlight was the Flambadou 32oz Bone-in Ribeye -- finished tableside with a dramatic flare. Served with peewee potatoes, red kosho vinaigrette, arugula, and ricotta salatta, it was rich, tender, and bursting with flavor. Cocktail highlights included the Saint Laurent, Jungle Thyme, Vintage Culture, a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned, and my personal favorite -- Have You Heard of Mezcal? -- smoky, citrusy, and unforgettable. We ended on a sweet note with the miso cheesecake topped with mascarpone -- light, creamy, and not overly sweet, the perfect way to wrap up the night. For those looking to extend the evening, don't miss their hidden speakeasy, Drop Dead Gorgeous -- a stylish, intimate spot with the same sultry vibe as the main dining room. I've been wanting to try this place out quite some time now and decided to come for my birthday this last weekend. Loved the ambience and the decor of this place! The server was very friendly and checked on us often. Drinks took a little long to come out though. Cocktails were good. Not too sweet and well balanced for everyone ! Appetizers: Oysters : they were good but I didn't care for the green sauce that was on them. It didn't have much flavor to it Grilled oysters : good but only tasted all the cheese on it Tiradito: this was good. Tasted fresh Milk bread : it was ok. The butter was a little bland. Barely tasted the tomato Entrees: Lamb chops : I was really excited to try this, unfortunately was disappointed. The cut was thin and it had too much fat on it and barely any meat. Didn't care for the chickpeas with it 32oz bone in ribeye : this was probably the best dish we had at the table. They gave us a little presentation show when they brought it out and the steak was cooked perfectly and was tender. Also came with a large salad. Dessert: we got the miso cheesecake ! Yumm it was so good! Flavors were similar to a salted Carmel sauce. Overall it was a good experience , I will come back again ! read more
Sadly, not the easiest place to find. Google Maps was totally confused in that maze of restos by ASU. But when I finally found them, I was well pleased. I think the server's name was Cloe, and she was gorgeous, informed, and full of advice. Fine conversationalist. I've always had an interest in trying bone marrow, but they weren't selling it during Happy Hour. They whipped me up some anyway, which I wholly appreciated. I didn't like it much, but I'm glad to have tried it. The rib meat dumplings were good. Cheesecake for dessert. It wasn't bad. I say that while not being a fan of cheesecake in general, but their treats options were limited. The atmosphere was fantastic. Very sexy, very earthy, very inviting. This is a date spot. I just felt as if the food should have blown me away, but it didn't. I'd gladly return should I ever again find myself in Arizona. read more

This place is a VIBE!! I LOVED the stylish jungle decor, it was just so much fun looking around at everything! Reservations are recommended and parking is available in the Chase parking garage (which is validated for 2 hours) or valet in front of AMC. Kenny was SUPER attentive and took awesome care of us, recommending the best drinks and bites. For food we tried the Cheddar Kimchi Croquette which was phenomenal, and the Cast Iron Brie which was delicious, but the bread they brought out the first time was a bit burnt. Kenny was great though, and brought us out fresh slices. For drinks we tried the Saint Laurent which was nice and the Have You Heard of Mezcal which was my favorite, perfectly balanced with sweetness and mezcal! I would definitely come back here again and recommend stopping in yourself to check out this unique spot. read more
My friend from out of town visited back in April and wanted to try a trendy restaurant. I had recently heard about a hot & new restaurant called Filthy Animal, and it seemed perfect for the occasion! It's one of local hospitality group, Pretty Decent Concepts's newest projects, the same group behind Wren & Wolf and many others. The staff greeted and seated us promptly, followed by our server who came by shortly after. The space is absolutely stunning, definitely sexy and vibrant, perfect for date nights, girls' nights out, and other special celebrations. It has 1970s-era influences with a focus on live-fire cooking inspired by the jungles of South America. I would never have expected a place like this tucked inside in a restaurant off Mill Ave. Since it was still early, we weren't super hungry yet. We started with cocktails then shared the following apps, sides, and dessert: Tiradito $22 Shishito Caesar $15 Sweet potato $14 Ice cream cake My cocktail was the Have You Heard of Mezcal? which had mezcal, reposado tequila, amaro, pineapple aji amarillo, lemon, and turmeric. Nice and balanced. The tiradito has yellow tail, wood grilled peach, avocado crema, crispy quinoa and habanero passion fruit aguachile. It was delicious and refreshing. The shishito caesar was also phenomenal. I love shisito peppers and caesar salad, so to combine both was genius and flavorful. It had bonito, charred shishito peppers, ricotta salata, tapioca, chicharron, and togarashi. The sweet potato had herb labneh, yuzu marmalade, fried seaweed, fresnos, and chili oil. Though it was tasty, this was my least favorite out of everything we tried. The ice cream cake had birthday cake ice cream layers and was the perfect sweet ending! After dinner, we moved over to their speakeasy, Drop Dead Gorgeous where we also had a reservation. read more
