Oyster Thursday's for the win! So sad they don't have crispy rice on the happy house menu anymore, that alone was worth the trip! Call ahead if you're going for oysters, sometime they run out.

Came for their streak frites deal on Wednesdays, which is $20 per plate. We got 2 and also a plate of the charred broccolini. The steak was a tad overdone but still tasty. The sauces provided were just okay, but overall the meal was solid. The broccoli was a bit over charred and over salted, but again, it didn't ruin the meal. We ate well. The restaurant was not super busy, there were empty tables around us, but we did not get checked on once, and had to ask a different server for our check, after sitting with empty places for 20 minutes. I do want to come back for their Thursday oyster deal!

This place has a fun chill hipster vibe and is a great place to go especially if you plan on having a couple of drinks. The service was good and our server was friendly. It was busy on wing Wednesday unfortunately but as to be expected. Taste: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Cleanliness: 8/10 Overall I probably would not want to go back but I did not have a bad experience by any means. It is just not the atmosphere I am in the mood for lately which is just my personal preference. If you are into the hipster/brewery vibe this place would be great to visit especially on their wing Wednesday!

I saw several Instagram posts about Dodo Bird Kitchen and Cocktails and decided to give it a try--and I'm so glad I did. This is officially my new date spot with my husband. It's seriously that good. I started with the crispy buffalo cauliflower, which was amazing. I also ordered the "adult happy meal," upgraded the drink to their famous Dirty Bird martini, and swapped the fries for broccolini. The burger and broccolini were both fantastic. I also tried the tiger shrimp tacos--again, amazing flavor. My only complaint is that you only get three tacos with one shrimp each and no sides, which felt a bit limited. We finished with the chicken wings, and I have to say--even my husband, who normally won't eat bone-in wings, loved them. That alone says a lot. The only real downside for me was the martini. The taste didn't quite hit the mark, and the portion was pretty small for the price. Overall, the food here is incredible across the board, with just a couple minor drawbacks. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to.

Ha! $1 for a side of bbq and a restaurant fee?!

$20 steak got me there, first time, last time. The steak was ok, not much seasoning the sauces were kinda bland. Chimchurri was ok, the peppercorn? Just tasted like grease. Too much fat on this steak for me. And then a $1 charge for a side of bbq? And what's up with restaurant fees. Gave it a try. Should've gone to Roaring Fork.

We're in from out of town and chose to dine at Dodo Bird for one of our dinners - and I'm glad we did! We had a reservation and were originally seated under a vent that was blowing really cold air right on us. We were moved right away. They have a really cool cocktail book. There are photos of all of the specialty cocktails, along with the descriptions. It's like a soft leather booklet with embossed or stamped writing on the front. Just something different! Our server made some cocktail and food recommendations and we made our choices. Everything was delicious! The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the service was pretty sporadic. Our server was great when she was there though! A bit of time could go by without us seeing her. The vibe is cool! It also looks like a good place to sit at the bar and we'd probably opt for that next time. We'd more than likely go back when we're in town again!

This place probably has the best specials in all of Scottsdale. On Wednesday they have 50 cent wings. The wings were crispy and really big. I had the buffalo and the sweet chili. I wish the wings were cooked mower well done. Next time I will make sure I ask them this. On Wing Wednesday they don't allow you to take wings home. I also ordered the Dodo Slugger. It's a 20 inch hot dog. When they dropped it off at the table I started to laugh because how big it was. They toasted the bread so it didn't fall apart when eating it. The hot dog was all beef and it was good quality. I ordered a few cocktails as well. They had a banana old fashion that was really unique. From the outside the shopping center was under construction, but when you walk in the atmosphere is dark cocktail lounge vibe. They had cool art work on the walls.

So, if you've seen this place on Instagram and you actually think it might be good, it is. We too, we were influenced. Does it look like a spot for a bachelorette party? Sure. But look past it and you'll be fine. The adult happy meal is a really great deal. If you're looking for something to please everyone. We had great service throughout the dinner and our water glasses were never empty. One of our parties ordered the grilled chicken wrap that can EASILY serve two people. The menu is limited, but you also won't know what to choose.

The ambience is so fun and it's very moody and decorated very cute inside!! There's a dart board, pool table, and TVs such a good place to hangout! Ella was such a great server and everyone was so attentive ! Food was good, my steak had a lot of fat on it I cut off but was cooked how I asked for it! I would come back here for sure!

Found this spot while browsing Yelp for a happy hour/dinner location during our most recent trip to Scottsdale. Their happy hour menu and daily specials, along with the awesome looking vibes, made Dodo Bird a must try for us! They are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking in front. Their signage is very prominent, and they have a chalkboard menu out front with their daily special and happy hour menu. There is also a large dodo bird statue by the door so you know you're in the right place! Once inside, you forget you're in a strip mall bar-the decor is chic but fun, with lots of plants and art, prominently featuring dodos. There is plenty of seating: low booths, high top tables, and a large bar in the middle with high chairs for close to 18 people. There are several TVs, and they seemed accommodating when people asked to switch to certain games. They have an electronic darts game, Pop-A-Shot, and a Skeech table as well. Their bathrooms are also super clean! The service was great right from the start: Monica greeted us and was quick to give us the rundown of how long they have been open, and her favorite menu items-she even made a point to ask what we ended up with and how our experience was. Our waitress, Bailey, was super attentive, gave us great recommendations, and was very patient with us as we snapped photos of our items. Onto the main event-the drinks and food! Here is what we tried: *DRINKS* - Hot & Bothered (Mi Campo Blanco, Ancho Reyes Verde, Watermelon, Lime, Agave): Loved this to kick off the night! Perfectly balanced heat and refreshing watermelon-I recommend having this before you eat, so it doesn't overpower the flavors. - Naughty by Nature (Grey Goose Vodka, St. Germaine, Strawberry, Basil, Lemon, Ginger Ale): This was delicious! Not too sweet, and the ginger ale makes it taste light. Will definitely order again. - Negroni Bianco (Gray Whale Gin, Luxardo Bitter Bianco, Lillet Rose): I've tried negronis in the past and they haven't been my favorite. This take was a bit different (it was clear) and it was good, but very alcohol forward. - Counterfeit Cantaloupe (Bacardi Rum, Watermelon Liquor, Orange, Lime, Fee Foam, Bitters): YUM! This was really refreshing, and the tropical flavor was perfect. Definitely order this! *FOOD* - Cauliflower KFC (Crispy Cauliflower, Hot Sauce, Dill & Buttermilk Dressing, Bleu Cheese Crumbles): WOW. This was by far one of our favorite iterations of crispy cauliflower. The seasoning was flavorful, the amount of breading was a perfect ratio, and the cauliflower was cooked perfectly; the sauces were also super tasty! If you only order one appetizer, let this be it. - Crispy Spicy Tuna Bites (Ahi Sushi, Spicy Aloi, Avocado Jalapeno, Rice Cake, Sweet Soy): These were decent; the rice was a bit crispier than I've had at other places, but the flavor was good. Be sure to get some extra sides of sauce for dipping. - Short Rib Chili Dumplings (Handmade, Beef Short Rib, Onion, Sesame Soy Garlic): A must order!! These pack so much flavor, and the sauce is an incredible complement. The short rib filling is moist and tasty. Seriously, I could have eaten another order with zero regrets. - Steak Frites (New York Strip, Hand Cut Fries, Peppercorn Au Poivre or Chimichurri): The Monday Special is $20 for their Steak Frites which was a great deal! This was a good entree to split-I only wish we had ordered our steak medium rare as it was more medium plus, but it was still yummy! We also upgraded to the Truffle Fries (Hand Cut Fries, Truffle Oil, Parmesan) and though they brought us regular fries, they quickly grabbed our truffle fries which were hot and crispy. The truffle oil was prominent, but not over-powering. Big thanks again to Bailey, Monica, and the whole team for a delightful first experience at Dodo Bird! Top-tier food and service make this a permanent part of our yearly Scottsdale itinerary from now on!

Stopped by this spot in Scottsdale and had a really nice experience overall! The space is super trendy and thoughtfully designed. It has lots of fun details themed to the extinct Dodo bird. The cocktail menu is probably the star of the show! It has great visuals and names for each drink. I did not try any of these but if I did, I would have tried their take on a matcha espresso martini! They also have a couple of mocktails if you're not drinking. Our group tried a few different things including the Clucker Wrap, Chicken Salad, and I went with the All-American Wagyu Burger. Everything was solid! Great flavors and very aesthetically pleasing presentation. Burger was juicy and satisfying and the others at the table seemed happy with their choices too. I liked the onions and pickles. Only critique would be I wish there was some lettuce or tomatoes (I'm sure it probably exists as an add-on). Our server was attentive and prompt, checking in at the right times and making sure drinks and food came out smoothly. I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu, especially during their weekly specials and happy hours!

First time here and I loved it!! You pull up to the restaurant and you think you're in the wrong place. The inside is decorated really well. They had some arcade games there too. I went on a Monday with a group of 12 around 3P and they were able to accommodate us easily. Most of us got their Monday steak frites special for only $20!! The steak was cooked perfectly how I wanted it. It was one of the best steaks I've had in a while from a restaurant. The sauce on top was also really good. The chimichurri was kind of a let down and didn't taste good but the steak didn't need it. I was surprised the Diet Coke came out in a can, I wish it was fountain or something with refills so I feel like I kind of got jipped on that. Some others got drinks and they all loved them. We also tried the dumplings and they were really good. I'll definitely be back!

We've been here once or twice before but I didn't Yelp it. Overall, this place is worth coming by and enjoying a drink & meal. I was surprised how busy it was on a Monday evening. We didn't make a rez cause it's a Monday!! But apparently this is needed at Dodo Bird. Good for them! The bar was completely full and we were added to the list for a table. Didn't wait too long, about 15 minutes. However, food did take a while to come out. Their weeknight deals seem to be working on getting people in. We came for the Monday Steak out deal - steak frites (NY strip & fries) for $20. I decided I didn't also want a steak, so I opted for the All American Wagyu burger and fries. So glad I did! Loved the burger!! Really great flavor and it's a double burger which I wasn't expecting. Made it perfect for us to share both things. Although I didn't love the steak. It lacked seasoning, and I can't imagine it wasn't salted, bigger unfortunate thing is it was overcooked. We asked for medium rare, and it was almost medium well. And 2 orders of fries was a bit much, these are thick fries. If I had noticed on the menu other sides as options, I would have changed mine. Service was overall solid and I liked our server. Also, personally, yes please do leave a pitcher of water on the table. That way I don't wait long for more water. I wish more places did this. I enjoyed the Banana Old Fashioned from the brown & bold cocktail menu. I want to come back next time for the Thursday sip & shuck oyster deal, and if these are good quality for $1/each then I'll happily update to 5 stars.

Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. Overall it was a fun experience Some tips: If your stones seem to be getting stuck down the lane, ask the attendant to move you to another lane. That's what we did and it made all the difference Explore the rest of bustling Old Town Scottsdale. There's literally something for everyone, and definitely check out the Frybread Lounge for some great Native American fusion cuisine Chee

Lowlights: It's definitely a spendier meal than usual - I would come for celebrations and not just a casual dinner. I think the least worth it items are the patatas bravas because you only get six, the chicken schnitzel because it's a very small portion, the shashuka was overwhelmingly salty. Sadly, our oysters did have sand and some shell pieces in them.

Honestly, I have no idea how it got those reviews. Maybe they're paid, I'm not sure, but based on my experience I would not go back. The biggest issue was the service. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After sitting down, we waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. No greeting, no water, nothing. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar and ask what the procedure was. Do we order at the bar? Do you have table service? No one could give a clear answer. They just kept saying, "If you want, you can order here." That's not the point. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect someone to come to the table and explain how things work or take our order. If the system is that you order at the bar, just say that clearly so people know what to do. The drinks were also very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Honestly, they tasted like something you could throw together at home with soda, alcohol, and ice. The surprising part is that the food was actually phenomenal. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The dishes were delicious and probably the best part of the entire experience. But great food alone isn't enough to make me return somewhere with poor service and forgettable drinks. My recommendation is don't waste your time on a Sunday brunch. There are plenty of other brunch spots with good food and good service.

The retro-vibed atmosphere of the Papago Motor Inn complements the laid back pace of your meal. This is not a sushi spot or an Izakaya. Hai Noon is a chef presenting southwestern ingredients in a most respectful, flavorful and innovative manner. I was lucky enough to return 3 times in the past month. To my surprise, ingredients and sauces did not repeat themselves, and dishes were completely distinct in flavor and presentation. This is definitely my favorite food experience of the past few years...anywhere. All of our visits were handled by our waiter/guide "Arizona", who described dishes, and when asked what his favorites were (and unlike many other places that say everything is good when it isn't), he informed us we would love everything, but he could help us with the order we ate them, and suggest a sampling if we were just picking out a half dozen dishes. He was right. Everything was captivating, surprising and...absolutely delicious. Do not miss the specials...there will be 4 or 5 on a small piece of paper, and a couple of "special" drinks. These are seasonal items the chef wants to add because of the timing and presentation. They exemplify the category...they are indeed, SPECIAL. The second visit established a pattern. Have Arizona order, until you are full. He checked in with us along the way, and made a few modifications based on our hunger level, and allowing for certain dishes to be repeated. A few things really stood out because I hadn't tasted anything quite like those dishes. Other dishes ie: variations on classic aguachile, were just better than anything I've had elsewhere. Salmon and Whitefish carpaccios were both stellar, with really good hot sesame oil adding to the dish's garlic, ginger and Yuzu base. And, when you are done with the last bite of fish, they bring out rich, grilled slices of bread to mop up that sauce. We last started with Sashimi featuring Sea Bream, that had fatty belly, and less fatty but oh-so-flavorful filet slices, and an accompanying broth. Big Eye Tuna was served on a flavorful beet puree with sweet dark cherry wine notes. Since we didn't read the menu's notes before, a quick check showed that Nobuo does create a Pinot Noir reduction that invites wiping the plate clean. The first time, the Tuna and all traces of the puree were finished by the time Arizona walked out to describe the dish for us. That's why I re-ordered it each time we visited. Soup spoons present a sashimi/ceviche/aguachile experience that is delicate, nuanced, complex and downright spectacular in your mouth. Whether it showcased an oyster, hamachi or kampachi, each spoon was an amazing taste experience with complementing flavors and textures that were completely unexpected. Softshell Crab with cold noodles was the most succulent Softshell crab I have ever enjoyed, warm, beautifully moist and flavor popping within its crispy exterior, set off by the chilled vinegar and broth accented noodles. Brussel Sprouts with a honey mustard and wasabi glaze disappeared immediately. As it turns out, wasabi is the missing ingredient in many Brussel Sprout dishes! The Yams with goat cheese and Fresno chiles reminded me of the amazing fire-grilled gourds and yam dishes I have had at Bacanora...just unique and different. Two Wash chicken was beautifully caramelized finger food that I could also have made a meal out of. We thought it was amazing, and then the chef came out and told us how inspired he was when he first met the chicken farmers and cooked with their chicken, and if possible, the chicken became even more memorable for the story and connection. Curry marinated lamb was rich, and savory, and was another dish I could make a meal out of. The Pork Belly and Mushroom rice was likewise delicious, and full or deep umami richness and delectable meat and mushroom morsels. The Mushrooms en papillote (mushrooms served in paper), had absorbed what tasted like a delicious Veal Stock, were tastily caramelized, and then steamed in the paper container. They were so good we had to have another...and we weren't skimping on food. Beverages (Alcoholic and non) get the same attention. The cocktail list sounds absolutely crazy, with improbable ingredients. But all of the ones we sampled work, and they are wonderful (sharing amongst our table, we have now tried over half of the cocktails...and so far, they are damn great drinks). The beer selection is small and ideal for the food, as are the well-chosen cold sakes that span all budgets. It is better with a small group of people so you can really explore the breadth of fabulous offerings, but I think it's also an amazing spot to share food on a date!

I booked a solo seat at the bar just two hours before dinner, which, in hindsight, should have been my first clue. The night before, my plans at Chilte had evaporated after I arrived to discover the owner was hosting a baby shower and the ceilings were being painted instead of dinner being served. I wasn't eager to go 0-for-2 on my Scottsdale food pilgrimage. Pulling into what looked more like an aging roadside motor lodge than the home of a James Beard-recognized restaurant, I wondered if Google Maps had developed a sense of humor. I parked around back, followed the sign to the dining room, and found... a locked door. Naturally. For a brief moment I thought the Arizona restaurant gods were playing another practical joke. Then I spotted another entrance simply marked "Bar." Inside, Hai Noon revealed itself as a tiny oasis. Phoenix met Tokyo somewhere in a dimly lit room with clean lines, warm wood, and mellow music humming through the speakers. Three other guests occupied the restaurant--a couple finishing dinner and what appeared to be a delightfully intimate two-person baby shower. I took my place at the bar. The server welcomed me warmly. When I admitted I was in town for work and wanted to experience the restaurant rather than order safely, he smiled and took control. A few menu staples were unavailable but he confidently selected four dishes. The grapefruit avocado hamachi spoons arrived first and immediately justified the trip. Rich, buttery fish balanced against bright citrus acidity with avocado quietly stitching everything together. It's the kind of bite that reminds you why chefs obsess over simplicity done well. The white fish carpaccio followed with a little theater. Hot sesame oil was poured tableside, barely kissing the fish into submission. Fun presentation. Beautiful execution. Though once the spectacle faded, the dish itself never quite reached the same emotional high as the hamachi. The garlic butter mushrooms arrived... in a plastic bag. It shouldn't have worked. It absolutely did. Deeply savory, unapologetically rich, and refreshingly unconcerned with appearances. The house chicken, unfortunately, couldn't keep pace. Twice fried and topped with egg salad alongside a chili vinegar, it sounded far more exciting than it tasted. Sometimes clever combinations simply refuse to become memorable food. Cocktails, however, were another story. My first choice--the Kosho--was unavailable, so I settled on the Japanese Moss, a gin cocktail topped with yuzu cold foam. The foam leaned aggressively tart but never overwhelmed the drink. Later, after finally coaxing the bartender away from his phone, he suggested an off-menu serrano-infused rum cocktail with miso. Complex, vegetal, spicy, balanced. Exactly the sort of drink you hope to discover when you stop ordering from menus. By 7 p.m., I was the only customer left. Summer in Phoenix is merciless. One hundred thirteen degrees has a way of convincing even adventurous diners to stay home. I watched two reservations cancel while chatting with the bartender and server, who explained that between May and August, three tables can qualify as a good night. Location doesn't help either. Hidden behind an unassuming hotel, Hai Noon isn't exactly benefiting from walk-in traffic. The chef emerged from the kitchen several times during service. Each time he glanced at the empty reservation book, quietly acknowledged another cancellation with a shake of his head, and disappeared back into the kitchen without speaking to anyone. There was something heartbreaking about it. Here was someone capable of creating award-winning food, still chasing perfection while circumstances far beyond the plate slowly worked against him. Hai Noon isn't flawless. Service occasionally drifted. One dish missed the mark. The room felt almost too empty. But I'd rather spend an evening in an imperfect restaurant full of ambition than a polished dining room serving food without a soul. I just hope Scottsdale's relentless summer doesn't prove too Hai for many more Noons.

I Ubered but like most of Old Town Scottsdale, there's plenty of free street parking. You may need to circle around during peak hours, but you'll find a spot. Ambiance (3/5): Pour Decisions is an open air bar, and a pretty expansive one at that. Beyond the open-air area, there's also a spacious patio and a rooftop. I love a good rooftop. With it being Phoenix, when the weather cooperates of course. The aesthetic of the bar was too "Instagram culture" for me with neon witty quotes and such, but some people are into that. Service (2.5/5): It took us about 10 minutes for the bartender to greet us while we were sitting at the bar. It got to the point where we were wondering if anyone was working. Luckily, after a slow start, service was pretty decent after that. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet on this visit. Drinks (3/5): The menu matches the vibe. The cocktail list has some pretty fun options, but of the overly sweet variety that lacks sophistication. I couldn't help but order a cocktail that was served in a cowboy boot-shaped glass with a popsicle in it. Fun for the novelty of it but it was a mediocre drink. While I am being a little critical, Pour Decisions has its purpose. If you're looking for a spot to hang out in a big group, Pour Decisions is solid given how large of a space it is.
