Let's put it this way low overhead that is probably why they have this type of setup and I was not impressed.

My parents asked to open a business check book and she was not only looking down on my parents stating- "you don't even know how to use your mobile phone, order it yourself." She said you want an ebook? Even though we stated we wanted a check book. She was so rude and was saying oh you don't even know how to order it yourself? When, my parents called and they were told to come to the bank and get the first one approved by them. She then proceeded to say you want an ebook? That's all I can do for you, I can't do this for you. You should be the one to do it yourself. My parents asked, can we see your screen cause she kept saying this or that but she was rude and disrespectful and stating no you're not allowed and that I am not authorized to show you my screen and was taunting my parents. Like, do you think it's our first rodeo going to the bank, we know you can show us too. Since the other US bank we went literally showed us the screen so why are you bs-ing us? The bank teller was rude from the start. She could've just asked her Manager to give her access or to tell my parents to go to the other bank staff members who are in charge of opening checkbook, but she decided that she's gonna hassle my parents be rude and be disrespectful yelling being so mad For no reason why because you don't wanna work there why because you don't want to talk to the manager that's not our fault. This is absolutely unacceptable and very racist. I do not approve of this bank. Do not go because you will be ridiculous and be disrespected. If you can't speak English, and you're a foreigner, do not go here.

I spoke with a credit union representative on a recorded call about refinancing my newly purchased…read morevehicle. During our lengthy conversation, I specifically asked what criteria I needed to meet to qualify for the advertised rate. At no point was I told that direct deposit was required to receive the lowest rate. This is particularly concerning because I asked about the requirements before authorizing them to run my credit, knowing it would result in a hard inquiry. Had the direct-deposit requirement been disclosed, I would not have proceeded with the application or authorized the credit check. I also clearly told the representative that I am self-employed, which would have been an obvious opportunity to explain any direct-deposit requirement. When I later received a call informing me that I had been approved, the employee initially gave me information for a different loan than the one I had applied for. Several details were incorrect, including the loan type and interest rate. It was during that conversation that I was told, for the first time, that direct deposit was required to qualify for the lowest advertised rate. I explained that this requirement had never been disclosed to me and asked to speak with a manager. I was told a manager would call me on a specific day, but no one did. I ultimately had to call twice myself before reaching supervisor Melanie Martinez. Melanie reviewed the recorded phone conversation and confirmed that I was correct: the direct-deposit requirement had not been disclosed to me. She said she would submit the matter to underwriting with an explanation and determine whether they would honor the lowest rate given the circumstances. She told me she would follow up with me on Tuesday or Wednesday. ----- I never received that call. Since then, I have called the supervisor, Melanie, three times and have not received a response. I am extremely frustrated with how this has been handled. The credit union ran a hard inquiry on my credit after I specifically asked for the qualification requirements and was not given complete information. I relied on what their representative told me when deciding whether to proceed. Had I been properly informed, I would not have authorized the credit inquiry. Now, if I choose to refinance through another institution, I may have to undergo another hard inquiry, despite having excellent credit. What makes this even more frustrating is that a supervisor reviewed the recorded call and acknowledged that the requirement was not disclosed, yet I still cannot get a promised follow-up or even a return phone call. This experience has demonstrated an unacceptable lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability. When a financial institution is handling customers' credit and sensitive personal information, I expect a much higher level of care and professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot and will never recommend this credit union.

I had multiple questions (and am currently a customer) and she answered everyone. The Bank provides very competitive rates and I even recall the CEO Dr. Yahia Abdul-Rahman taking time out to correspond with me. How can you lose when an institution has a good heart, serves the community, and is competitive. I've been with multiple other financial institutions with significantly more funding, and yet worse rates, service, and outcomes. Keep doing what you're doing Bank of Whittier!

Mr. Yahia Abdul Rahman CEO bank of Whittier. Thank you for helping me explain they way I got…read moretreated by you. Exactly my point, If you had given me a chance to speak, submit my paperwork and listen to what I have to say, you would not lie about me inquiring about a hair salon. I never, not once ever said hair salon. So get our conversation right! YOU NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN WHAT I WAS INQUIRING ABOUT! Then you go on in your reply that your credit policy requires at least 2 to 3 years hands on experience in the same field. But yet this person was approved for a $500,000 loan RIBA FREE for a Bagel shop with no prior experience. Business 'Halal' Financing for Muslim Entrepreneurs Gains Currency In mid-2009, Pakistani immigrant Junaid Akbar struck out at a host of major banks when he sought funding to buy bagel shop franchises in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Then, in early 2010, the retired computer programmer landed just over $500,000 from an unusual source: Bank of Whittier, a tiny community bank in Los Angeles that specializes in financing for Muslims who want to comply with Islamic anti-usury laws that prohibit the paying or charging of interest. Then you go on to say that I expressed disapproval. If anything you disapproved of me! Then you go on to say I was in business for 3 years. If you had given me a chance to speak and listen to what I had to say, you would know that I've been in business way, way longer then 3 years! Then you go on to say, that you had to remind me that my business and what I was inquiring about was a different profession! WOW REALLY! REMIND ME? DO NOT INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE! STOP WITH THE CONDESCENDING AND PATRONIZING! It's one thing to submit all the paperwork needed for approval or denial and it's another thing to deny anyone to submit paperwork never giving anyone a chance. So yes I felt discriminated against. Absolutely a terrible practice! I respectfully disagree with your frivolous and slanderous statements made by you about me! I wish Mr. Yahia Abdul Rahman CEO bank of Whittier the best of success.
