In the beginning, Joe was personable, responsive, and the initial meetings gave us confidence that we had found the right contractor for a major home renovation. Unfortunately, things changed once we started making payments. As the project progressed, the estimated square footage of our remodel seemed to shrink while the overall price continued to increase. We continued making payments because we believed we were close to having finalized plans, but there always seemed to be another delay or another step before everything would be complete. Joe did provide us with a nearly complete set of architectural plans, but the kitchen design process was outsourced to someone in another country. Coordinating meetings across time zones was difficult, and we were asked to make our final payment before we had even completed our final kitchen design consultation or reviewed the finished plans. Looking back, that was our mistake, and I take responsibility for that. As interest rates rose and construction costs continued increasing, we decided to put the project on hold. Rather than walk away entirely, we asked if the approximately $20,000 we had already paid could be applied toward a smaller renovation project in the $40,000-$50,000 range. Joe declined, explaining that our deposit had already covered the time and work invested in developing the plans. After further discussion, he agreed to apply only $1,000 toward a future project. I understand that design work has value and that contractors deserve to be paid for their time. My frustration isn't that I expected everything back. It's that throughout the process I often felt pressured to continue making payments with the promise that we were almost at the finish line, only for another delay or another reason to come up. By the end, I no longer felt like we were dealing with someone who was looking out for us as clients. Everyone's experience may be different, but if you're considering Meridian DesignBuild, I would strongly recommend making sure every phase of the design process is complete, all plans are finalized, and you fully understand how your deposits can be used before making additional payments.

His workmen were superb, and he monitored their work quite closely. The job was finished in one day. David is/was quite easy to contact by telephone as he answers his phone quickly, and if he is busy will return the phone call promptly when he is free, usually within minutes. I just contacted David again to do some additional drainage work, and he was just as easy to reach. From start to finish, we were impressed. Scott was on time for all of our planning meetings and provided us with a detailed quote so that we knew exactly what was included. Scott and his business manager Candy were on top of everything and were in constant communication with us. All of the subcontractors worked hard and were extremely respectful of the fact that I work from home. The work site was always cleaned up at the end of each day and the project was actually completed early! Our new kitchen looks spectacular. We love it and have received many compliments from guests. He came to my place on a Monday after I left a message on Saturday, gave me a quote, and proceeded to uninstall my old microwave and installed the new one. He also cleaned up afterwards with vacuum. He was prompt. He explained all the steps he was going to do. He was also very courteous and nice. He was very professional and most importantly, got the job done and got it done well. DTB C & M produced a great facelift for old built-in cabinets and bookshelves in our condominium in Eastover, built in the 1970's. DBT refaced the bookshelves and replaced the cabinet doors, giving them a modern, refreshed look. They also removed the dated chair rail moldings and repaired the scars on the drywall. The work was done very professionally, with attention to the details. They were very easy to work with, kept the work site clean and draped, and removed all trash daily. They always responded to out our messages and additional requests in a timely manner. The owner, Mr. Dwayne Bobo, is most pleasant to work with. He and his crew arrived on time or kept us informed when problems arose that caused changes to the schedule. Unexpected problems or delays almost always occur with repair and remodeling jobs, but 'Bobo', as he likes to be called, always kept us informed about everything we needed to know. He was especially concerned with health and safety for us and others in our condo building, in this time of COVID-19 virus. He and his employees always wore masks when they were near us and when they were in the common areas of the building. When the work area was sealed off from the rest of the condo, they worked mask-free and sanitized before leaving. The job was completed without any complaints from us or our neighbors.
