They did not show up day of my move but called me all day for 12 hour promising me they would come. Finally asked to come the next day. I asked Alex if I would gwt a discount as now I had to take another day off work and was told yes. Next day they took 7 hours to do my move (I moved one year before and same stuff took the other company 4.5 hours), they really took longer than I think they shuould have. Come time to pay and no discount on labor but they would give me the materials for free (what a joke!!) the kicker is that when they left, they charged my credit card a second time for the materials WITHOUT my authorization!!! Steer clear, they have zero customer service. disputed the unauthorized charge to my CC and filed a BBB claim to see if they want to make this right. never had such an awful experience!!! The movers handled my items quite harshly and with little care, causing numerous damages during the move. Unfortunately, they refused to take responsibility, instead claiming that the issues were pre-existing and advising me to use my own insurance to cover the costs. I've included images to show some of the damage. In addition to the lack of care, they worked at a much slower pace than I've experienced with other movers--taking nearly 8 hours to move a 600 sqft, 1-bedroom apartment between two locations just 15 minutes apart. They didn't seem as professional as their marketing suggests. As much as I wanted to have a positive experience, I can't recommend Finch Moving :( I suggest choosing a mover who genuinely cares about your belongings and takes accountability for their mistakes or damages. read more

I had a great prior first move with Finch, but unfortunately my second experience was my worse move ever out of 8+ moves. First, the third mover called-in sick, but we weren't informed of that until only two movers arrived on-site. We moved earlier this spring, so while we understand hiring during the pandemic is difficult, one of the movers also clearly had never done a move before and didn't have the basic training in place. A simple two-bedroom move where we had all the personal items and kitchen pre-packed already (and two miles away) somehow took 10.25 hours. Everything from taking apart the beds, to backing up the moving truck was very slow and unprofessional. We ended up wrapping and moving many items to the moving truck ourselves to help speed things up. There was no acknowledgement or effort from the movers when they saw we were trying to help. There was a general lack of respect for the space, and we felt that the movers were not equipped with the right tools or training. My roommate and I have separately had better experiences with companies with significantly less per hour rate. The movers did not come prepared with wrapping paper or additional boxes. Booties were not worn and blankets/plastic was not laid down so dirt was tracked in our new space. They movers did not clean up after themselves or take out the used moving materials when they left. The almost instantaneous and easy communication with Olga in the Finch office suddenly stopped after we expressed concerns mid-move. She told us to send an email documenting the move that day, but we never heard back. Oh yes, my roommate's sleep number mattress was damaged. Those things are not cheap. We got no response about covering damages. We ended the 10+ hour day exhausted, stressed, with a filthy (new) apartment to clean, a broken mattress, another poorly assembled bed, and a $1,300 bill for extremely subpar service. read more

On the 25th of July 2019, I hired two movers to move my items from Concord to San Francisco. The services we agreed on were as follows. Move boxes from Concord to San Francisco. Move large furniture between two apartments in the same building. Payment will be on an hourly basis. Their expected arrival time was between 8 am to 9 am. However, I received a call from dispatch at 9:30 am informing me that their truck had broken down and they were sending another truck on the way. Six hours later, they arrived at 2:30 pm. I drove from San Francisco to Concord at 7 am so I can be there on time for when they arrive for the pickup. But instead, it was the other way around and then we ended up driving in rush hour traffic to get back to San Francisco when we left. I requested them to move a large cabinet from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor. They told me that they should be able to figure it out. I took their word for it and I went on to join a conference call so I couldn't watch over while they work. And it took them an hour and 30 min to move the cabinet downstairs. When I came outside, they already made it to the very last turn of the stairs and told me that they need to damage the back of the cabinet because they are having trouble getting it over the stairway railing. I told them if they can do it without damaging the cabinet and they said okay, they will figure it out. And so, I went back inside and heard the cabinet crack as they scraped it over the handrail which was also damaged in the process. They should have told me that they might have trouble with the cabinet before moving it down or even earlier on. And they should've properly protected the cabinet with wraps or blankets prior to the move. Aside from breaking the back of the cabinet, the legs were also chipped and I found severe scratches, dents, and scrapes in the stairwell on all three floors. The movers did not tell me about it until I saw it myself. And this all happened a month after my apartment renovated which means the stairwell was newly painted. I initially planned to sell my cabinet which I bought for $3500 and was in pretty good shape but unfortunately, I was unable able to sell it due to its condition after the movers brought it downstairs. We even ended up paying to have the cabinet dumped. On top of that, I also paid $900 to a painting company to fix the damaged walls and stairs that had scratches, dents, and scrapes. Additionally, they were six hours late and got stuck in rush hour traffic, which would not have happened had they arrived during the original time. And because the entire moving process took 8 hours, I ended up not moving some of the large furniture pieces because they finished very late at 9 pm. At that point, I decided not to pay for any more of their time to prevent further cost and damage. So in the end, I ended up disassembling and moving the remaining furniture myself. Their response didn't help at all as well. "Someone will take it." "We have people that fix these things all the time." "Our insurance will cover it." I have photos of the damages and I can also provide proof that the hallways and stairs were recently painted that time. I understand as a moving business, situations like this can happen. And I hoped there was an agreement on how to remedy these damages. I did not receive any compensation from Finch Realty or Finch Moving nor from their insurance company. I did not wish to leave a negative review and trigger legal action from these issues. However, I haven't heard from them since they left and took photos of the damages, and so I am just leaving this review for other people to know. read more

Do not hire. It took two workers 16 hours to move a 450sf (already packed and ready) one bedroom apartment. How is that even possible you ask? They sent the most inefficient workers, with one of the two not even pretending to work and spending 4 hours packing ONE BED into moving blankets.... After complaining, I was illegally charged without my authorization. They did what needed to be done without any fuss, and made sure that all our belongings and furniture reached safely at our new place. They were very careful with wooden floor at the house to ensure it didn't get scratched. They are also experts at maneuvering a truck in tricky places (picture of parked truck attached!) Summary: We booked Finch based on a friend's recommendation, but it was a terrible decision. The movers were nice and courteous, but lacked experience. They were extremely slow and didn't understand how to properly pack/secure items. The move took more than twice as long as our quote. Management gaslit us saying that was normal and never reached out even after giving them this feedback on their internal survey. Details: We had a simple move: - 2 bedroom apartment - moving everything into a storage unit a 5 minute drive away - dedicated elevator and parking at both the apartment and storage unit - we had packed up everything except for furniture and a few minor items - 3 movers We had spoken to multiple movers and were given a quote of ~3 hours. This seemed reasonable given we did NOT require setup in a new apartment. For reference, our move last year into the same apartment (with all of the same items) had taken 7 hours and required picking up from 2 apartments and setup. This move with Finch took 7 hours and 45 minutes!!! And when we called the owner as to why it's taking so long, he gaslit me saying 5-7 hours is typical. Hilariously, they even exceeded their outrageously long estimate. Some highlights: - one of the movers showed up in slip on sandals - they just threw things randomly into large wardrobe boxes: they put a heavy boxes of dishware on top of a bunch of photoframes and through my monitor just in the middle of the box - the attendant at the storage facility said "they were as slow as molasses" and spent time showing them how to properly load the elevator - I was told an arrival time between 8am and 9am. I didn't get an update until I called at 8:57am. They arrived at 9:24am. read more

Finch came recommend to me by friends because they were very affordable, so I was hoping for a good experience. The movers showed up on time and were pleasant to interact with, but more than once they chucked around our boxes in the truck when they thought we weren't looking and once one of our boxes even fell out of the loaded truck (while it was still parked) for which they said don't worry there was nothing important in there, as though they knew what was in the boxes (they didn't). Some of my stuff was broken / damaged when I opened the boxes. They refunded part of my move, but the basic insurance is extremely limited and barely covered anything. I'd say only go with them if you're on a tight budget and avoid packing anything for them to move that can't take a hit. read more

Had a great experience with Finch and would recommend them to any friend looking for a reliable moving service. Andrii and Alex arrived on-time and helped us move within the city between two apartments that involved in total 5 (very tight) flights of stairs. They worked efficiently and were highly professional, it was clear they knew what they were doing. The move took 5.75 hours for the two of them, which given the number of stairs and items involved, I was happy with. What I appreciated the most was their concern for our items. Multiple times they went above and beyond to identify and secure loose items or parts on furniture to ensure that they would not be lost in transit. They also were quick to use their tools to help disassemble/reassemble items to get the job done. For example the door to the apartment and the couch legs had to be removed in order to bring it up. I hate moving like most of you all but Andre and Nicolai made our moving super fun and easy from San Francisco to Palo Alto. They are both amazing, energetic and super fast guys. They secure everything before laoding and at the end everything was in perfect condition. It took like 4,5 hours to move our 1 bedroom apartment (except driving)...Speaking of driving, the road normally takes 45 mins. I left San Francisco 10 mins after them and had an average speed of 85 on the way there and when I arrived I was shocked. They were already in the new place before me driving a 24 feet truck!!! They said, it took 45 mins to drive as well which is very unusual considering the size of the truck. Overall it was an amazing moving experience from beginning to end and i also have to give them an extra credit for beating me on driving skills. Thanks guys! read more

We had 2 guys move us within San Francisco with an extra stop in the middle. We only had them take the bigger furniture items and a few heavy boxes, so it took less than 2 hours. Every place charged a 3-hour minimum which we knew we wouldn't need, but Finch's price was the best with the best reviews. Really impressed with the guys' speed and carrying things up a few floors via stairs at the new place. Some of those boxes were packed with books and really heavy; surprised they actually held up. My only complaint is that after they left, we realized some of the furniture was dinged up a bit, there were some marks on the wall, and scratches on the hardwood. Would recommend again. I moved with Finch moving from San Jose(house) to San Francisco(apartment 3rd floor). They were on time, nice and speedy! 4 guys showed up and completed our moving so fast (about 8 hours/4 bedroom). Thank you for your great service guys!(Vlad, Alex, Andrew and Pavel) We had 4 bedroom full of stuff, big shelves, double door refrigerator, piano and etc. They brought a lot of blankets and covered all the furniture without leaving any gap. Then wrapped them with shrink. They have big wardrobe boxes for clothes so all our clothes were safe and clean too. We had trouble with our elevator on apartment we are moving in. But thanks to these guys it wasn't a big deal, they used stairs. Its was a bit narrow but thank god we didn't scratched the walls on stairs. Total time was 8 hours and 20 minutes, but they gave me discount for 20 minutes so i paid only 8 hours. Would I call these guys next time? Yes, i would definitely call them. I've thought long and hard about writing this follow-up to my original review. On February 22, two weeks after my original review, someone from Finch called me to say that they were concerned that I had a bad experience, and that they'd like to make it right. They offered me compensation of $300, in exchange for which I would obviously have to take my original review down. I refused the offer. The next day they called back with an offer of $500. I refused that one too. I mentioned this to a number of friends, some of whom I had cautioned against using Finch's moving services. They all thought I should write a follow-up to my original review mentioning these offers of money, but I didn't want to take it further. Then, a month after the calls, I received an email from Yelp HQ stating that they're writing because of "one or more complaints" about my original review, and cautioning me that "posting false information can have legal ramifications" and pointing out that I have the option to take down my review. (NOTE: despite these complaints, Yelp has NOT taken down my review.) I take this review very seriously, and I stand by everything I said in my original review. I also do appreciate the fact that they called me and said they wanted to make it right, and I understand that this is not the kind of situation where I can get recourse in other way. But my missing camera and lens themselves cost around $800, and the missing alcohol was another $200. On top of that is the fact that some stranger now has access to all my photographs. I have to wonder if those calls and offers of money weren't about making it right for me as much as finding a quick way of making me take down my original review. read more

I had a great experience moving from San Diego to San Francisco with Finch Moving Company. My family hadn't moved for a long time, it was a challenge for us. However, Finch Moving made the move easy and stress free! These guys are awesome! It all started when I gave them a call and Anton answered all of my questions. He was friendly, professional, and really helpful. He offered me free visual estimate, and in a couple of hours the guy from Finch moving came to my door. He walked around the house and asked me some questions about upcoming move. The questions really made sense and I couldn't even think about those type of things like materials, hours, workers etc. Despite other offers that we got, Finch gave us the best price and we decided to go with them! And I never regretted about it. They sent me electronic contact with detailed information. It was really nice because I didn't need to print, sign, scan, and send it back like in the old times. It took a sew seconds to complete the blank fields and sign it. One day before the move, their rep called to confirm the move. We were good to go! On the moving day, I knew exactly what time they're coming because they send me text that they were 20 min away. They showed up on time and explained to me the moving process. They were very friendly, efficient, and careful with our stuff! All my furniture was covered with special pads and plastic wraps. They also reassembled my bed and office desk. All I did was relaxing on my backyard while guys did all the hard job. You can't ask for more! They loaded truck before noon and delivery was scheduled for the next day. Throughout the whole time Anton was on the phone with me and gave me updates about the crew and ETA in SF. In the next morning, the same people showed up at our new place in SF. In 3 hours they unloaded everything. They even organized my furniture the way I wanted! No doubt, the best moving company that I ever hired! A couple of days ago I have been spoken to my friends and ask them who can give me advice about affordable moving services for a simple job. One of my friends told me about Finch Moving Company. I hired these guys to move a couple of items from the storage in San Francisco to my apartment in Walnut Creek. I expected that the job will be done as fast as possible because I had to go to work after. I would like to say that I experienced no problem scheduling my move by phone with them. We discussed all of the details and they gave a good price. I asked them to be on spot at 8:00 am and this is not a problem for this company. Need help moving to my new place in SF. It was a complicated move but VS and Pasha made life so easy! One loading dock was out, I was moving half of a 2 bed out, needed furniture disassembled, moving into a half already furnished 2 bed, etc. VS and Pasha arrived on time, scopes out the place, signed paper work and got to work protecting all my items and getting things ready to go.
