I went to Fine Line today, after purchasing the daily deal on Living Social. It entitled me to a spa mani/pedi, color, and cut. Even though it was an hour from my house, I decided to give it a try since it was a really good price for all of the services. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was completely blown away. From the very beginning of my experience with scheduling my services, the staff was incredibly friendly. Everyone- and I mean everyone- was concerned with my happiness and comfort. It's a small place, which to me is a benefit. I never felt rushed or pressed for time, and everyone on staff seemed to enjoy each other's company and interacting with all of the clients. I got a fabulous mani/pedi from Erin and my nails look wonderful. The haircut I got from Ruthie is probably the best I've ever had. I was there for a good three hours with all of the services I received, and the atmosphere the entire time was cheerful and welcoming. Despite the distance from Annapolis, I would definitely return to Fine Line. It is well worth the drive! read more

I went to Fine Line Hair Design for a hair cut and single-process color using the Living Social deal I had purchased. I had a little trouble finding the location (not their fault, I didn't see how the street was numbered), but I was still there a few minutes before my 10am appointment. My stylist, Lisa, didn't show up until about 10:15! If your first appointment is at 10, plan to get there at 9:30 so even if you're running late, you're still on time. The receptionist was very pleasant, apologizing for the wait. She was also sick, which I don't hold against her -- it happens, but I do wish she had just called out. She was conscientious about walking away into the back room when she had to cough or sneeze, but I was really hoping she was washing her hands before she returned. Now for what really matters: my hair turned out great! I showed Lisa some pictures on my phone of the style I wanted, and that is exactly what I got! While I liked the color I was given, it could have turned out badly since she did not have a sample to show me and hair color can be difficult to describe in words. Make sure you bring a picture if you have a certain color in mind! The salon itself is small and on the first floor of an office building. While I would recommend their hair stylists, I can't vouch for their nail services. The manicure station and pedicure chair (one of each) looked like an afterthought. The pedicure chair looked like an office chair on a platform with a mixing bowl underneath -- no thanks! The place was hopping when I arrived. It looked like they have many dedicated regular customers, which speaks well to their overall work. read more

Am staying in Baltimore for a few weeks. Needing a cut for my short hair, I checked Yelp and found Fine Line Hair Design. Made an appointment for that evening and I was very happy. The establishment has been there for 21 years and there's a reason why: the service is excellent. The hair cut was good, and the stylist (Sandy) was knowledgeable and happy to give me some excellent advice. I've been going to Fine Line for over 10 years. I've recently moved to DC, but I still take the train all the way to Baltimore to go to Fine Line. Not only are the employees friendly, warm, and respectful, but the service is AMAZING! Ruthie absolutely gives the best haircuts and never makes me feel as if I'm being rushed. It's such a breath of fresh air to have a stylist LISTEN to the requests I make about my hair (I'm so picky!) You can really tell she loves what she does and is a professional. Also, Erin is the best for a mani/pedi, and I swear the polish lasts for a month- I've never been able to say that! I never write on Yelp, but I think this place deserves a lot more recognition for the wonderful work they do! From start to finish, I feel pampered and appreciated, just as I think I should in a salon. The place is clean, inviting, and homey, and the staff is the best! No seriously, just try it! I have been a client for 10 years. I do not switch stylists a lot. I like continuity. Laurie Gross has always been my stylist and listens to what I want. I trust her to give me what I want, but not to give me a style that does not work for me. Sometimes I might not feel the love and she will fix the problem for free. Everyone in the salon is kind and caring and we have the best conversations! I highly recommend! read more

BEST SALON AROUND! I have been going to Fine Line for over 15 years--In fact I followed one of their stylists (Sandy) from another salon she had left. The entire staff is wonderful. It is a very relaxed place and even if you arrive tense, you will quickly find yourself unwinding. They aim not only to give you what you want but also to make sure that it looks good on you. Any decent shop can do an acceptable hair cut--but what i,presses me the most is their expertise in hair color. They are real artists here! Granted, color isn't cheap but the results are absolutely the best and more than reasonable for what you get. I always get great compliments about my hair and most people are incredulous when I tell them its salon color (Actually, it is what my natural color looked like when I was 15). Pretty good for a middle aged lady! I would recommend this salon to anyone, but especially if you are going to color for the first time and a bit nervous about it. Relax, because you will be in the hands of some of the masters of the business! read more

This was the worst experience-the most unprofessional group of people- rude, arrogant. They messed up a simple color job- wrote down the wrong info for the appointment-overcharged me- than when finally agreeing to refund - recharged my account so that now I am on hold for more money and had to spend money to get the crap color out of my hair and redo it the way it was supposed to be. This salon doesn't have any competition as they are the best of the best. My previous salon, I had to beg for an appointment. This salon was able to schedule me for highlights with no problem. You are made to feel welcomed, not just how many dollars you are likely to spend. It is a pleasant and joyful atmosphere. I never wait for my appointment once I get there. Again my previous salon was like the doctor's office. No matter when the appointment was scheduled, I could still wait up til 40 minutes before I was seated. If you want the best results, schedule with Sandy. She has been doing my hair for several months and I am always pleased with the results. First, let me explain I avoid the hair salon like the dentist, just not fun. I work in walking distance to the salon and thought I would give it a try. First, the staff is very friendly and professional, the salon is warm and inviting, they were very helpful in finding an appointment and gave me several times and dates. I called the day of and asked if I could come in on my lunch instead of the evening, the answer was yes. I asked prior to washing my hair if they had non sulfate shampoo, which they did, Wow. The lady that washed my hair, phenomenonal, water wasn't freezing or water in the my ears. Impressive. My stylist that I had was named Sandy, took a genuine interest in my opinions and what kind cut and what I would like. I got a great cut, lost the Sheppy the sheepdog look, and will definitely be back. The prices are very reasonable for the services rendered, I even bought the shampoo that was used, which I rarely do. read more
