This place always smells heavenly. I stopped in while shopping in the plaza as I haven't been in a while. The entrance was quite confusing. There's a sign with arrows pointing where to go if you have puck up orders, need fresh grinding or a drink order. Everyone seemed to be in one line up front and the customers were blocking the path to get to the drink counter. This made it look like they were only using one line to serve all orders. I was looking for a place to grab coffee and study that wasn't a library, campus, or in a busy area downtown, and that was open a bit later. There aren't very many coffee shops open past 5pm, particularly on the weekend, so I was glad to find this place. I've only ever been to the Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters locations in URMC, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options and the quality of the drinks at this location. There is ample seating, some next to outlets, so this was a great place to study. Highly recommend if you need an off-campus study location but want to avoid downtown in the evenings. read more

Stopped in on a busy Friday afternoon and had to wait in a line almost going back to the entrance. I really enjoyed the festive holiday decor on display. The line moved surprisingly fast and I was able to browse the assortment of coffee and gift items available while waiting. Very inviting selection of local goods available along with the coffee beans. I saw several people pick up items for purchase while waiting. Even saw a fun coffee advent calendar on display which would make a great gift. The cafe area had a decent amount of seating. The menu was quite large and had a nice selection of coffee, smoothies, and iced drinks. I liked the large amount of flavor options available to add to your drink. I ordered an iced matcha with gingerbread flavor. It was delicious! Cost me a little over $7 with tax. I am happy to have a local coffee option to choose from when shopping at Pittsford Plaza. Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters has the best decaf coffee, the Finger Lakes decaf. I really enjoy my coffee but I can't handle the caffeine anymore. I have always looked for Swiss water decaf, I can't tell the difference. A few months ago I stopped by on the 9th of the month for the sale which I had been doing, and bought 2 lb of the Finger Lakes decaf. I didn't check the bags right away but if I had I would have realized they gave me the wrong coffee. I emailed through the website and never received a response. I ended up using one bag and gave the other bag away. When I stop by again to buy coffee on the sale day I mentioned it to the young ladies that were working there. They were not unpleasant but they were not pleasant either but had a bit of an attitude like I was bothering them and told me they couldn't do anything about if I got the wrong coffee. So I made sure I got the right coffee that time. The next time I went I bought 2 lb of the Finger Lakes decaf. I very much like the smell of fresh roasted coffee in a always squeeze the bag to take a sniff. This time there was no smell which is the first time it's happened with this coffee. I'm thinking the vibe is just not right there. I went back in explain politely I don't think I got the right coffee. I got some glares. But they did give me my money back. That's the last time I've been there. I have since found another decaf coffee that I like as much that's not as expensive so I think I'll just stick with that. read more

Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters is the real deal. I'm from Portland Ore and by nature a coffee snob. I like my coffee black and without fluffy flavors. FLCR changed that for me. I am a huge fan of their Jamaican Me Crazy coffee- It is the best flavored coffee I have ever had and is a weekend staple on my house. The Pumpkin Spice is also very good. Normally I pick up a bag around town since many places sell their coffee. But I made the pilgrimage to the store while I was grocery shopping nearby. This location is a cute little shop with many food offerings and a wall of coffee. I grabbed a bag of my freshly ground favorite and a lip balm infused with the same flavor. Whenever I even think I am going Pittsford Plaza I plan a stop into my favorite coffee shop. I love everything about it! From the cute ceramic mugs available for purchase, huge variety of local beans, Nitro cold brew, Cold brew cans and sugar free options... I'm impressed. The cold brew cans are available in 4 packs which I suggest you pick up. My go-to drinks are the Nitro Cold brew or the Hot/Iced Caramello with skim milk made sugar free (you almost wouldn't even know it). Staff is always so helpful and the shop is so clean. Currently in pandemic times, 5 are allowed in the store at each time, social distancing and safety are a priority, which is great. On the 9th of every month their pounds of beans are only $9. RC and his crew try to help you with your needs promptly and politely. Their $9.99/Lb on the 9th of the month sale is a perennial favorite. I have a couple of friends out of town that really like good dark roasts - I mentioned Finger Lakes and the sale to them - I ship them 4-5 Lbs shipments on a fairly regular basis. I email RC the orders about a week or so before the 9th so he has ample time to make sure he has the beans coming in to cover the orders. They are always bagged and labeled for me when I get there so I can pay, then go to a table to pack them and drop them off at the post office on the way to work. Jamaican me Crazy is their big coffee. I enjoy it as well as their Organic French Roast and Organic Bolivian. They have many organic and non-organic coffees to choose from. They always have a variety of coffees brewed to choose a mug from. They also have assorted biscotti, scone, muffins, breads, etc. to complement the brew of your choice. In addition to the 9th of the month sale, Chai is on sale on Thursdays, and I think they have double points Tuesdays on cups of coffee. They have frequent flier points in three categories - brewed coffee, specialty drinks, and ground/whole bean coffee. Buy 10 in any one category and get one free. If you're at that end of Pittsford Plaza and walk anywhere near their door, the aroma wafts through even the closed door and draws you in. read more

If the delightful smell of coffee beans isn't enough for you, the selection should be. We buy all of our local beans from the Monroe shop, and the staff are always so kind and make good conversation. You can choose your beans, and order a coffee drink at the same time. There are a lot of seats, and a nice comfy chair area where I've often seen little kids playing in. The shop is on the smaller size, but very cute. They also have 2, 10 minute parking spots dedicated to people coming in to buy beans so you don't have to fight for an hour for a 5 minute run in. But really, if nothing else, just go smell the coffee smells. read more

I got a gingerbread chai tea latte, which was pretty good although a bit in the sweet side. Prices are standard. There is a seating area toward the front of the cafe. Beat coffee in all of upstate ny, seriously. Their jamaican me crazy is to die for. They ha e a canandaigua blend that is the best. When you walk in here the aroma takes over and its amazing. This is a cute place for a coffee date or just to grab some beans to gift. It looks like they carry about 50 varieties of whole beans and grind them if you needed them grinded for you. Much needed addition for the FLX Coffee lover. They pretty much have all of your favorites and the necessary seasonal roast. The staff is very helpful without sticking their noses up in the air at the novices. I am by no means a coffee snob, but I am a picky drinker. The employee helping me was very courteous about guiding me to choose a proper dark roast. She even made me a nice cupper to try. The coffee beans are in the order only a coffee elitist would understand. But let's just say it's extensive. Making my choices of "Jamaican Me Crazy" and "Xmas Spice" basic in comparison. Their french dark roast is also very roasty :-) Anyhoot, they offer to grind the beans for you. I know what you're thinking -- ground beans are only good for...blah blah. Listen, I own a Keurig ok. So take that as you will. But do not however think FLX any less for that. It's local and it's good. This retail and coffee shop is a blessing to the area. read more

I love this place and make it a point to come in every time I'm nearby. Baristas are SO NICE and the coffee always rocks my socks. Nice and sunny atmosphere too - a rarity; most coffeehouses feel like a dungeon. I just wish that the barista with the shoulder length blonde (and sometimes partially blue) hair and glasses had a better grasp of the concept of an "indoor voice"... she's so so so nice I hate to say anything - but she is VERY loud. If you try and have a conversation, do work or study, or take a phone call at all in there and she is talking, forget it. I only bring it up because it has happened at least 4 times now where I have had to leave just because of her volume while she talks to customers or other baristas. Without that, this would easily be five stars! She may not even work there anymore, I'll update after I've made a few more visits. read more

This review only concerns the espresso. Unfortunately, most espresso served in America is of low quality. At Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters, their espresso is terrible, over-extracted with no crema and a bitter taste. Fuego Coffee Roasters (for example) does an excellent job. read more

Hmmmm...if your not that into the coffee scene this place is ok. If you like flavored coffees, lattes, and stuff like that maybe you'll like it? They have a wide variety of flavored coffees and some single origin to choose from. You can bag them up and take them or have them make you a pour over of whichever you'd like. I started with a cold brew on the nitro line, I took a few sips and had to send it back. Felt bad, but it tasted like, really bad cold brew! The nitro line didn't seem to be in full effect either. The guy who served it up gladly took it back and asked what else he could get me. I went with the pour over of the Peruvian coffee. I'm not confident the ratio of coffee to water was on point or the temperature of the water was correct, but after it cooled way down and I got to take a sip it was actually pretty good. I'm a coffee snob if it isn't already obvious. If your gonna do the cold brew on nitro and pour overs its best to execute properly so the product meets the expectations of the folks who enjoy these brew methods. read more
