Dropped of my xk8, along with new seat upholstery, to have his crew replace seats upholstery, replace convertible top and headliner.
The finished work was nice, however
1) the car was full of junk left over from the work,e.g. horsehair stuffing, pop rivet ends
2) the passenger headrest would not respond to the switch. The motor would operate but the headrest did not move. The tech came out and started to beat down on the headrest to lower it. I said I would fix when I got home. The issue is the cable sheath can stretch and disengage the spinning cable. Had they understood this and routed the cable properly and secured it, there would not have been an issue.
3) the cup holder would not come out readily from the center arm rest. The tech had wrapped too much leather around the edge which caught the slider mechanism.
4) the plastic surround for the lever to move seat back forward was broken. Often happens when not removed correctly. I discovered this when I got home.
5) the seat control on passenger seat fell out of its place. I saw marks on the edge of the control indicating someone pried the control from the outside to get it out. The manual says to remove from the inside of the seat.
6) the arm rest was installed with wrong screws and the cubby box was broken.
7) the rear seats were removed to replace the top. To remove the rear bottom seat, two small nuts need to be removed from the lower edge. To remove the nuts the tech had to remove the little black booties covering them. These were not replaced and when questioned, the tech did not remember them.
8) when the covering was replaced on the horizontal pillar of the windshield, the hole for the manual locking of the convertible top was covered over. I suspect it was covered over as they could not find the plug for the hole which I found when I removed a seat to vacuum out all the junk on the carpets.
9) today, about a month later, when I lowered the top, the latch and its screws fell off the convertible top front rail. The other screws were all loose, too. And the fir plug was missing from the header rubber.
I guess I should have provided the jaguar manual I have which details how the work should have been done.
