I have had 2005 HONDA Accord and it still runs really well. However this super car started to have some cosmetic issues such as peeled paint or headliner. The headliner in the backseat started to fall apart because of heat from the sun. I would like to fix it with reasonable price. I found Griffin Upholstery from Yelp. The passenger seat in my 2-door 1994 BMW would no longer tilt forward. I assumed it was a broken seat release cable and bought a new one that BMW and every online dealer said would fit my car. I brought the car to Scott. After he opened the seat, he found that that cable that BMW says should fit is different than the broken one in my car. However Scott was able to find a way to make it work by connecting the unbroken end of the old cable to my new cable. It now works and his fee was reasonable. Thank you Scott. I was looking to do some restoration work on my newly owned 95 Miata, and had a variety of jobs that I'd like to have done (new convertible top, seat reupholster, and steering wheel reupholster). Scott quoted me numbers far lower than anyone else in the area for the first two jobs, and even suggested that I source some materials myself if I was interested in saving money rather than trying to charge me on materials. For the steering wheel reupholster, he stated that the time involvement made it uneconomical, but was helpful enough to suggest DIY as an alternate path that could work out. I ended up paying Scott for the convertible top replacement and the leather seat reupholstering jobs as two separate pieces of work a month apart from each other. Scott's style of business is a bit different from what you may expect: his schedule is indeed erratic, as he has a passion for music, and this little one man garage was essentially a side gig for him now after a long career owning a larger business. Although his casual persona seemed to have startled some in other reviews, I found this background reassuring: he was a veteran of the industry who was no longer prioritizing dollars per minute, but still retained a high skill level. The work itself was done exceptionally well, with drop-off for both occurring in the morning and pickup in the evening. Scott was communicative via texts about an issue that had occurred during the soft top replacement (through no fault of his own, my old tension lines had rusted out and he needed to replace them), and it was clear both days that he had booked me as the one and only customer that he was working on for the day (even though the amount paid was far less than a full day's worth of work). Both jobs were installed with great attention to detail, and he let me thoroughly inspect the work before having me go through with payment. I don't normally write reviews on Yelp, but my experience with Scott as an experienced, honest, and economical business left me with the belief that this upholstery shop is a hidden gem, and I will definitely be coming back for any future work I'd like to have done. read more

The headliner in my 2006 BMW Z4 had come off (due to rising temps?!) - I had searched on yelp and found 3 shops - 2 of them responded. Wardell and Griffin. Went to the former first as they had 5 star rating and responded very quickly... they took a look and said the plastic housing that covers the electronics and holds the fabric in place needs to be replaced... parts and labor would cost $1070. Seemed pretty steep to me as it was just the liner inside. Scott from Griffin Upholstery responded by then and gave me an appointment. In the meantime I wanted to get another reference point and checked with Steven's Creek BMW and they said they can only replace the top, which if they are able to source parts for my model, would run me ~$5k. To their credit they did advise me saying that I should go to after market upholstery shops which'd be far more economical, and even recommended Wardell as the best in the area. However, when I went to Scott, and saw that he is semi-retired, doing things on his own schedule, but with a passion to fix things rather than replace... I was impressed and waited a couple of days before he can take things apart to even diagnose. But Scott was confident even before opening up the top that he'd be able to find a way to fix things... and that he did indeed! With a few screws and bit of epoxy, the top looks as good as it was prior to the break down and Scott says it will hold and work as long as the rest of the top lasts!! We dont find someone like Scott that often - I consider myself lucky... not only did he save me over $1k, but his communication throughout the process, attention to detail, and quality of the work are all rare these days. Scott, you are awesome!! p.s. I also got an invitation his Rolling Stones performance in a nearby bar, but unfortunately my schedule didnt work out, but perhaps in the future :) read more

He was extremely responsive from day one, easy to schedule, offered a great price, and did a great job always making sure to finish on schedule. We had a couple of unexpected issues - the seat heaters were attached to the old seat covers unlike older BMWs, and the added cushioning proved uncomfortable. Scott was very realistic on the time required to address both issues and very reasonable on the cost - so much so that I chose to pay him more than he asked in both instances. I had two cushions from two different pieces of furniture that need repair thanks to my rather neurotic domesticated canine. I first emailed Griffin Upholstery to request a quote. He couldn't give me an exact quote because it wasn't clear what the extent of the damage was in the pics I sent. But they did give me a very ballpark figure. So I went in the shop with the cushions for a better estimate. The estimate was, by far, cheaper than the other two quotes I got (and they weren't far off from the email estimate)... by at least half, if not more. So I decided to give this place my business. Scott was very professional with me. He gave me a bunch of options and what each of those options would cost. I went with his recommendation which was also the cheapest option. He gave me a delivery date (which was 5 business days later) and he delivered on time. The quality of his work is top notch (in my opinion) and I I'd gladly give him my business again. We had Scott Griffin reupholster a vintage piano bench in leather. It's a height adjustable Artist's bench made by a company that went out of business years ago. The upholstery is tuck 'n roll with buttons. His turnaround was pretty quick and the price was quite reasonable. Other quotes I had received made it clear that those shops didn't want our business. I could have bought a new Made in USA Artist's bench for less than what those guys wanted. Scott was a pleasure to work with and I'm happy to recommend him. There are new Asian benches on the market for a little less but ours is built like a tank and Scott understood our desire to preserve this fine piece of Americana perfectly.
