    Bar- over Mardi Gras

Walk in, sit down, get 3 drinks. $44 bucks ok... go upstairs and sit on the balcony. The 2 boys finish their drinks. Go downstairs to get 2 more. Same thing... $44 bucks. Ummm what?? Be aware of what they are charging before just handing them money! . Will never step foot in here again.

Right on the corner but barely noticed during the day. I walked past it probably 15 times before finally stopping in for a drink to watch the Saints game. (I'm a packer fan but your cannot not enjoy a Saints game). Plenty of seating at the bar and a few tables throughout. NOTE: small sign on the window says $5 brisket and pulled pork Po boys during home games. -- Only reason I really knew there was food. Service was great. I was greeted on entry and even offered a charger for my phone as we had been walking all day enjoying the city. It was odd a menu was not offered but there was a screen in the back showing BBQ being prepared and pictures of great food so asked. Only Brisket, Pork and coleslaw were available at around 6:30 pm maybe. Reason for the 4 stars. Odd that there would be such a limited menu so early in the evening. I got the brisket sandwich and let me tell you... The brisket melted. So moist and the vinegar based sauce on the side was phenomenal if you ask me. I didn't care much for the bun but I was in for the brisket! Coleslaw was standard but good. All and all a good experience. Casual place, no frills but with friendly staff. Good choices for drinks. Not a cocktail bar. Oh and lastly. I did not get a chance but it did appear they have an upstairs balcony that is open at times. The only thing you should do is perhaps check when they have full service if you're looking forward to the BBQ. I know I will because the brisket in my opinion was really worth the stop. And... if I didn't emphasize... Get the BRISKET!

View of Girod and Carondelet (street car line) from the balcony. French 75 is perfect.

Uplifting, delightful experience while enjoying a very well made French 75 on the balcony. A great spot for a sunny day here in the "American Sector". If the French quarter is too much havoc, try this side of Canal. The Pour House balcony is spacious and offers great views. Frendly staff; great locale.

No frills bar but the bartender was super friendly and helpful. Plus our drinks were good. Music was from a jukebox.

Great local bar with surprisingly good food. Friendly servers. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for some BBQ. Try the green beans! So yummy.

Balcony view! They have outdoor seating with umbrellas.

I am not sure why this place has less than 4 stars!!! Multiple bathrooms, great food with great prices and awesome customer service! We came before and after the Saints vs Eagles game and had great experiences both times. They had a special of $5 breakfast burritos with pork or brisket. We opted for brisket. $5 was a steal because they were nice sized burritos and came with a side sauce that was killer. They were really good. I wish I could have these burritos back home! I also had a margarita and the bartender did a great job on this as well. We will be back!!!

Smash burger + Mac and cheese seemed baked

AWESOME dive bar! Or, well, not sure if you'd classify this as a dive since it's on a corner and not very hidden and probably pretty well known, but it definitely has those dive bar vibes you know and love. Sampled their daqs-- good flavors and STRONG. I settled for a seltzer though since it was a Tuesday :/ ordered food too, and it was the STAR of the show. It's rare you find dive bar food THIS good. I got a smash burger (come with 2 patties w/ cheese) and a side of Mac n cheese. The burger was hot and juicy and was very flavorful! I was pleasantly surprised. The Mac and cheese seemed baked, was also good, but it was so hot it melted the cup and I tasted just a wee bit of styrofoam. No big deal though. I can see why the food is a little pricey. Tried my friends pulled pork--good flavor, maybe a little dry. Service was also so so lovely. I didn't catch the name of our bartender, but he worked fast and was so fun and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Noone. Because we waited for no reason

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

Atmosphere/Appearance: It's EXTREMELY BUSY and very loud in here. Lol. As mentioned above, the bar is located inside the hotel so once you walk in through the front door you enter the lobby then head to the right. It's a first-come, first-serve situation (at least it was for us at the time). So of course, the carousel bar is the highlight. It's a slow rotating bar rail and it's adorable. Lol. Almost the entire bar is eyeing any available spots so you have to be quick, but be respectful. However, there are tables and such sprinkled throughout the bar where you can hangout at as you stalk the actual carousel. My wife and I sat in the window which made for some excellent people watching. Lol. Eventually after what felt like an hour or we did spot some spots on the carousel, my wife held them for me as I closed the check then finally got to sit... and SPIN! The bar completes a full revolution every 15 minutes so you definitely won't get dizzy. Service: We had no issues here whatsoever. The staff is just super busy all over the place, but they didn't miss a beat. Food: For my first drink I checked out their Oaxacan Midnight which was like a tequila play on the Old Fashioned. It was delicious, a bit lighter than an Old Fashioned, but certainly stood on it's own. For our first appetizer bar bite we tried the Blue Crab & Corn Beignet which didn't come out as I was expecting. Lol. I'm not mad, I just pictured the big, fluffy things from Cafe Du Monde, but maybe stuffed with goodies! These were more like fritter than I absolutely loved so much I ordered a 2nd plate. Lastly we tried the BBQ Shrimp which was grilled to perfection with a good snap, excellent flavor and good char along with a tangy, cream sauce on top. Value: It's pricey. Food and drinks were decent, but a SMIDGE overpriced, but... they know you're going to pay because you're on vacation, you're a tourist and you wanna be in this novelty bar. Lol. Regardless, I had a blast and you can say you did too whenever you check this place out! In conclusion, I've now been there, done that. Lol. I don't have to do it again, but if you're in the area, check this place out. It's a good time.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .
