    Bar- over Mardi Gras

Walk in, sit down, get 3 drinks. $44 bucks ok... go upstairs and sit on the balcony. The 2 boys finish their drinks. Go downstairs to get 2 more. Same thing... $44 bucks. Ummm what?? Be aware of what they are charging before just handing them money! . Will never step foot in here again.

    Great brisket

Right on the corner but barely noticed during the day. I walked past it probably 15 times before finally stopping in for a drink to watch the Saints game. (I'm a packer fan but your cannot not enjoy a Saints game). Plenty of seating at the bar and a few tables throughout. NOTE: small sign on the window says $5 brisket and pulled pork Po boys during home games. -- Only reason I really knew there was food. Service was great. I was greeted on entry and even offered a charger for my phone as we had been walking all day enjoying the city. It was odd a menu was not offered but there was a screen in the back showing BBQ being prepared and pictures of great food so asked. Only Brisket, Pork and coleslaw were available at around 6:30 pm maybe. Reason for the 4 stars. Odd that there would be such a limited menu so early in the evening. I got the brisket sandwich and let me tell you... The brisket melted. So moist and the vinegar based sauce on the side was phenomenal if you ask me. I didn't care much for the bun but I was in for the brisket! Coleslaw was standard but good. All and all a good experience. Casual place, no frills but with friendly staff. Good choices for drinks. Not a cocktail bar. Oh and lastly. I did not get a chance but it did appear they have an upstairs balcony that is open at times. The only thing you should do is perhaps check when they have full service if you're looking forward to the BBQ. I know I will because the brisket in my opinion was really worth the stop. And... if I didn't emphasize... Get the BRISKET!

View of Girod and Carondelet (street car line) from the balcony. French 75 is perfect.

Uplifting, delightful experience while enjoying a very well made French 75 on the balcony. A great spot for a sunny day here in the "American Sector". If the French quarter is too much havoc, try this side of Canal. The Pour House balcony is spacious and offers great views. Frendly staff; great locale.

No frills bar but the bartender was super friendly and helpful. Plus our drinks were good. Music was from a jukebox.

Great local bar with surprisingly good food. Friendly servers. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for some BBQ. Try the green beans! So yummy.

Balcony view! They have outdoor seating with umbrellas.

I am not sure why this place has less than 4 stars!!! Multiple bathrooms, great food with great prices and awesome customer service! We came before and after the Saints vs Eagles game and had great experiences both times. They had a special of $5 breakfast burritos with pork or brisket. We opted for brisket. $5 was a steal because they were nice sized burritos and came with a side sauce that was killer. They were really good. I wish I could have these burritos back home! I also had a margarita and the bartender did a great job on this as well. We will be back!!!

Smash burger + Mac and cheese seemed baked

AWESOME dive bar! Or, well, not sure if you'd classify this as a dive since it's on a corner and not very hidden and probably pretty well known, but it definitely has those dive bar vibes you know and love. Sampled their daqs-- good flavors and STRONG. I settled for a seltzer though since it was a Tuesday :/ ordered food too, and it was the STAR of the show. It's rare you find dive bar food THIS good. I got a smash burger (come with 2 patties w/ cheese) and a side of Mac n cheese. The burger was hot and juicy and was very flavorful! I was pleasantly surprised. The Mac and cheese seemed baked, was also good, but it was so hot it melted the cup and I tasted just a wee bit of styrofoam. No big deal though. I can see why the food is a little pricey. Tried my friends pulled pork--good flavor, maybe a little dry. Service was also so so lovely. I didn't catch the name of our bartender, but he worked fast and was so fun and friendly. Will definitely be back!

    Cool vibe!

The overall vibe/decor is dramatic and appealing. If you are a group of rich girls who are eating before they go out drinking or a dude trying hard to impress a date, this is the spot. The eh: It's $$$. I probably didn't look into this aspect well enough so my shock at the menu/check was probably on me. Portions are a bit confusing. Poutine was huge - like Mexican Nachos size huge. Hamburger also. But 2 deviled eggs, a tiny 9$ miniature loaf of bread were confusing in contrast. We had two mixed drinks. Gin and tonic was fine, but the 17$ espresso martini was hilariously undrinkably unpleasant. Less like espresso, more like donut shop coffee. Now, I love some indirect lighting. It creates interesting and compelling spaces with mood and a bit of mystery- But y'all - this is just the darkest restaurant (or lounge or whatever) I have ever eaten in. There is so little light that you literally cannot read the menu without using the flashlight on your phone. It is spelunking levels of darkness in there. I had to ask the server for more of the tiny tabletop candles just so we could see each other. The music is also very loud. Which would make sense if there was a dance floor or some reason for it. It is a place where what you do is drink and eat (in the dark) and talk to each other. The design of the restaurant itself seems at odds with the two things it aims to provide.

The highlight of the meal was easily the CALAS appetizer. The snapper pastrami brought a wonderful smoky depth that paired beautifully with the horseradish cream, and it was one of the few dishes that felt balanced, intentional, and memorable. A genuinely excellent start. Things became more disappointing once the entrees and cocktails arrived. The Rohan duck breast itself was cooked very well -- tender, properly rendered, and clearly prepared with care -- but what was never communicated by the staff was just how sweet the overall composition of the dish would be. Pairing that with cocktails that also leaned heavily sweet made the entire meal feel one-note and overwhelming by the midpoint of dinner. The red beans and rice suffered from the same issue. Despite the spice topping, the dish skewed surprisingly sweet and didn't complement the duck at all. What frustrated me most was that this felt entirely avoidable. At a restaurant with a cocktail reputation this strong, I would expect the wait staff to guide guests toward drinks that balance the meal rather than amplify the sweetness already present in multiple courses. Instead, no recommendations or warnings were offered, and the meal suffered because of it. I was especially underwhelmed by the Harlequin cocktail, which seems to receive a massive amount of online hype. In practice, it simply didn't justify the reputation. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the complexity and "wow" factor you would expect from a signature drink that's so heavily talked about. Overall, there are flashes of excellence here, particularly in the appetizer course and technical preparation, but the lack of thoughtful service and pairing guidance made the experience feel far less polished than advertised.

Walking in at 1:30 on a beautifully sunny Wed, we fully expected a wait. Instead, our two empty seats beckoned to us like a pretty girl winking at us across a bar in college. Marvin has been promoted to Beverage Manager. He left his bar in very good hands. The two young dudes carrying his torch were great. Very friendly and well aware each time we finished our drink and needed a reload. They're well-trained in the art of concocting the Sazerac we love. Sitting for 2 hours watching the regular turnover of the precious seats at the Carousel is still big fun. And having a friendly chat with the constant turnover of strangers sitting next to us is part of the unique charm of the Carousel Bar. We got there at 10:55am and there was a little line. When the doors opened, Oddly enough, there was a party of 5 sitting inside already?!?? Our bartender W took a while to come get our drink order and took longer to get, one of us never even got our beer. I pointed at someone's drink and told W I wanted that, the martini special. How is he gonna make me the drink minus the Baileys?!? I pointed to the drink I wanted, simple. My bf ordered a Abita, guess what 45 mins passed and he NEVER got his beer. We asked for the check and W said "oh your beer". Bro just give us the check and take off the beer. Worst service I've ever experienced. How you going to forget about someone's drink who's sitting right in front of you drink-less plus make a drink wrong. The carousel sits about 25 people and there's 2 bartenders?!? This isn't a club where drinks are getting shouted out. The only thing they have going for them is the rotating carousel bar if the SD one didn't close, I'd say pass and go to that one instead. One and done for me. Good luck if you get W as your bartender! And sir, no I'm not coming back after the game for you to make it right, make it right the first time!
