Here's the short of it: if you want to look great and don't feel like breaking the bank on a custom suit, Fino is your place and Isaac is undoubtedly your stylist. I bought three suits here and went with two others who bought three as well. Here's how it went. Custom suit buying allows you to buy a great fitting suit at a price that is much lower than you'd expect. Recognize that the suits here are priced cheaper than Saville Row in the UK or other custom places because they are largely made in Asia (I called a place in Staten Island that sells comparable suits and they start at $1200! - almost double what you'll pay here!). Suits at Fino are based on the price of the fabric. Fabric prices depend on the mill and the thread count. Higher the thread count the more it will cost (thread count number is the amount of times the thread is weaved per unit of measure). Higher the thread count, the better it flows on your body and the better it feels and holds up long term. I'd stay away from anything below 120s which means your suit will cost at least $575 plus tax. If you don't mind spending opt for super 140s or 150s. Isaac has great style and is very pleasant to deal with. He is not pushy and will never try to sell anything to you. You'll come in and he'll have you choose a fabric and give suggestions. It pays to bring a friend to get a second opinion. Custom suit buying for me was about getting something nice but subtle, not flashy. I opted for working button holes ($35 extra), contrasting stitch on the last button, peak lapels at 10.25", Tom Ford style buckle (which means no belt or belt loops). I also got a ticket pocket and slightly elongated pockets to counter at the fact that I bought very conservative suits. If you're going custom, do to right, yes?! (See pictures attached). On one suit I got the shoulders to be higher than the base of the jacket ("con rollino" or Roman shoulder wihichbqill accentuate the suit better IMHO) and no pockets on the inside of my jacket since I don't carry on Shabbos lol. Sadly these options were not offered to me. I asked Isaac and he pulled up a long pdf on the computer and said it could be done. I wise these options were offered - especially since many people don't know to ask about these. That is to say, the suit options process could be smoother - pictures of all or at least most options should be shown so that people know what to ask for. Sure, they may not look good or work for all people but at least such options should be offered. I also opted for full canvas ($135 extra). This means that the garment is not fused or glued (which is what is included in the suit if you don't choose full or half ($75) canvas. Canvas prevents bubbling of the fabric but most pop wow don't get it and it's not necessary. Your first appointment will be half an hour choosing styles and half an hour measuring. Isaac is very good at measuring and getting the fit right. Why does this matter? Well, it means you won't have to have more than one fitting and may get to take the suit home when your suit arrives (sometimes with minor tweaks). I suggest bringing the shirt you will wear with your suit along with your shoes you will wear with the suit to get a precise measurement and to mitigate the amount of times you need to come in. Your suit will typically be ready in three weeks and you'll get an email notification. You'll come in and Isaac will make tweaks. Trust Isaac's judgment; he's been doing this longer and/or more frequently than you. If he says it looks good then it looks good. He's not trying to get rid of you and onto the next; he actually thinks it looks good. Trust him. I am uncomfortable at the amount of complements I get with Fino suits. You'll get the same! They are very cheap costing for what you get and quality and style is not compromised. Sure, Jos A Bank sells $55 suits on sale but hose will look terrible. Okay so go to the Hat Box and get a $350 suit and pay $50 in alterations and $20 for shatnez (Fino suits are shatnez free) plus tax and your out $450 inclusive of tax. For another $200 more you can actually look great not good. If you're buying a suit at Emporio (at least $450 plus tax and alteration so $550 all in) you are literally spending the same for an inferior product. A decent Fino suit with tax will run you $625 inclusive of tax. On the other hand, one suit - even one that costs $10,000 - will get ruined if worn to often. You need a rotation of at least two or three. Otherwise they get shiny on the bottom and sleeves. Fino custom suits will make you look and feel better. They won't break the bank.
