My fiancé and I did a two tank wreck dive with Finz and has such a great experience. From the start, Rob was wonderful with communication regarding the trip, as there was worry of bad weather. Immediately I felt safe knowing they were keeping me updated and communicating efficiently. The trip did end up happening for us and we had the absolute pleasure of working with Captain Amy and Captain Nick. Between how thorough the were with safety and how personable they were during our trip, we definitely had a wonderful experience. We felt safe the whole time and we had a BLAST hanging with Captain Amy and Captain Nick. Hands down a wonderful experience and would recommend them to anyone!! Thank you!

Four of us chartered with Finz to go out to Dry Tortugas National Park and had an *unforgettable* day. I'll be honest: the boat ride out and back is a bit noisy and windy. But what you get in return is fantastic: - Captain Kelly was our host for the day, with Mike captaining the boat. Kelly was also our guide, and because we went out early with them, we got a full tour of Fort Jefferson long before the ferry landed and the hordes descended. He walked us through an informative tour of the whole place and clearly knew lots of the history. - Then we had a bite of lunch (they provide sandwiches) and went snorkeling over toward Loggerhead Key. Kelly was our dive master (snorkel master?) and was both helpful and encouraging to those of us who hadn't snorkeled in 50 years (that's Sean). He took us to a cool shipwreck, and Captain Mike was knowledgeable enough to know that we had a fairly brief window before the current got stronger (he was right). - Then we motored over to Loggerhead Key (the ferry of course doesn't go there) where they let us off onto the beach. We walked up toward the lighthouse, I flew my kite (it's a thing we do when we hike), and then did some more snorkeling. Kelly found several sea creatures to point out to us, and even took videos of us underwater! Throughout the day, Captain Kelly reinforced numerous times: this is your day, we can do whatever you want, and he went out of his way to make sure we had a good time. Originally we had planned to go the ferry route: the day we had was So Much Better than that!

Truly could not have asked for a better experience! Finz is a top notch business and we love how they operate and treat their customers. We were desperately looking for a way for our family of 4 to get to the Dry Tortugas last minute as the ferry and seaplane were booked up. We called around and Hillbilly Hookers actually referred us to Finz and we are so thankful that he did! We called and immediately Finz was ready to try to make our dreams come true letting us know they were working on getting a crew together so we could take the trip. They called back shortly after and had landed a crew so we booked right then and got information about our charter. We paid half of the price right then through the phone and paid the rest on day of the excursion. On the day of the excursion they provided sandwiches, chips, water, ice, and granola bars for the day long charter. We were blessed with Captain Mike and dive master/1st mate Sydney who both we would highly recommend! Sydney was so excellent as a host, tour guide, and snorkel guide. She has so much experience and knowledge of the ocean and she made our Fort Jefferson tour extremely entertaining. Captain Mike did an excellent job controlling our boat the Freedom as the waves and wind were rough the day we went out, but he made sure to get us to Dry Tortugas and docked safely, then helped us get to the Windjammer shipwreck to snorkel, and got us safely onto Loggerhead Key for a nice beach stop. It was cool how they had us all in the back of the boat sitting on bean bags so we weren't being thrown all around the boat. This was by far the best day of our vacation. Finz and their staff truly highlighted our trip to the Keys and we will definitely be referring them to friends and family and making sure to use them in our future trips back to the keys. Sydney has us all inspired to work towards our dive certifications so we can come back and enjoy a different view of the keys with Finz!

We booked a charter to the Dry Tortugas which included snorkeling and lunch on this beautiful beach with Ashley and Mike for my friend's birthday! Ashley was absolutely great in getting the cake and supplies to surprise our friend. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! You will not be disappointed in booking with FINZ.

Didn't feel really safe. They let someone get in the water without air on. No buddy system. Dude slipped on the boat with all his gear on.

And they allowed me to tag along and snorkel. David the dive master was super patient and kind. My husband was super comfortable following him on the dive and he loved his time at the reef. We of course had that "one know it all guy" on our dive but the crew was so patient and kind with him. Thanks to David for being an awesome teacher, the captain and crew for helping me out so I could snorkel and be part of the adventure. Thank you Leslie for answering all of our annoying questions and encouraging us to go. Wish we had more days in Key West, we would have gone again!

The entire crew from the front desk, to the deck, hands to the captain, are all amazing and make you feel safe. The crew here are seriously the BEST. even people that work here always dive with them on their day off that's how great these guys are! The boat is great, freshwater showers, and an upper deck seating area with great views. They even have a fresh water hose on board to rinse your gear off. Other Dive operations in Key West don't allow this. they want you to use their dunk tanks back on shore. Captains corner is also the most popular dive shop in Key West, which I like as a solo diver. It's easy to pair up with a buddy on board. This is important because in the Florida Keys most dive shops do not automatically give you a Dive guide in the water. You have to pay extra for a guide, so make sure you have a buddy! Also because they are more popular shop, they are less likely to cancel on you for having not enough people on board. Captains corner is more dependable with daily trips. My Favorite dive site is the Vandenberg shipwreck. It's an advanced dive 100 feet depth so they make sure only advanced divers with the proper experience can go for everyone's safety. If you aren't advanced, you can get your advanced certification through them, so you can do this Dive!

I got in the water and panicked. Kelly, our guide, expertly made sure I got back to the boat. Spencer, our dive master, helped me up and reassured me the whole time. I got to spend the next couple hours hanging out with Spencer and robin (the captain), which honestly, was a great time. What I loved is how committed they were to safety, and also making me feel valid in my decision to abort the dives. My partner successfully completed two dives and had a fantastic experience with Kelly guiding him. If/when we're back in key west again for diving, we will definitely book with Lost Reef again!!

Lost Reef Adventures...the worst dive shop that I have encountered in 30 years of scuba diving…read more The negatives: The owner, Nick, was extremely unfriendly to the point of being hostile. He had a serious attitude problem and had no idea what the concept of "customer service" meant. He just stares at you, waiting for you to say something...it's really creepy. After telling us to show up at 7:00 for the morning dives, no one from the shop bothered to show up until 7:45. The crew was only okay. The dive master acted like this was an annoyance to be taking us out on a dive...like he just wanted to get this over and done with. He just swam around for 45 minutes until it was time to re-board. The boat pilot told us, "We're not leaving the dock until you get your gear ready." There was one guy (with a mullet and ear rings) that was pretty cool and very helpful. The equipment was fair, but had some issues. The first tank that I hooked up to only had 1200 psi, turns out that 1/4 of the tanks onboard had previously been used and not removed or refilled. The fact that they all had the rubber covers on the valve (indicating a fresh tank) made it very confusing as to which tank to use. My dive buddy's regulator was inoperable. The dives were fair at best. I guess Key West really isn't that great for sea life when compared to the USVI or Belize, buy the dive master didn't even bother to point out sea life. EVERY dive I've been on in 30 years had a dive master that took pride in his/her job and did their best to point out - things to see - during the dive. I told the travel office on the base at Sigsbee not to recommend them. There are vastly superior shops like Southpoint Divers and Captain's Corner that will give you a much more pleasant experience. I dove with Southpoint on all of my subsequent dives in Key West. The positives: The boat was great - lotsa space for everyone, safety equipment was plentiful, and the safety briefing was well done. As I mentioned before, one of the crew (lives in Roatan, Honduras and was visiting his daughter) was very helpful but unfortunately, he was the exception. The BCDs, masks, and fins were fine. There's not really anything else positive that came out of my experiences. Do yourself a favor and use one of the other dive shops in Key West.

We came in with absolutely zero scuba diving experience, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. We met our instructor, Tommy, at the Hilton Hotel pool, where he walked us through the basics, including hand signals & important safety information. His teaching style was clear, patient, & reassuring, which helped ease my nerves right from the start. Once we got suited up and into the water, Tommy made sure we were completely comfortable with each step before moving forward. He also took extra time afterward to answer all of our questions, which we really appreciated. Later, we met at the dive shop at 12:30 PM, headed down to the dock, & joined our captain, Drew. From there, the adventure truly began. It's honestly hard to put into words just how amazing the entire experience was. Everything was perfect, and I wouldn't change a thing. During our first dive, I had some difficulty clearing my ears, but Tommy stayed right by my side the entire time. He patiently guided me up & down the rope, allowing me to adjust at my own pace until I was comfortable. At one point, I started to feel anxious, as he had taught us, I signaled it, with a bit of panic beginning to set in. Tommy immediately recognized it, calmly reassured me, & helped me regain my confidence. Thanks to his steady guidance, I was able to relax & truly enjoy the rest of the dive. We completed two separate reef dives (each with a tank), & the underwater world was breathtaking. We saw a sea turtle, a stingray, a goliath grouper, lobster, trumpet fish, lionfish, and thousands of other beautiful fish. Tommy did a fantastic job pointing out marine life we would have otherwise missed. Scuba diving is something I've always wanted to try, & thanks to the passion & enthusiasm of both Tommy and Drew, my son & I are now completely hooked. We've already signed up for the open water online course & are excited to continue toward our certification. If you have the opportunity to take this excursion, don't hesitate, it's an unforgettable adventure. Thank you, Tommy & Drew, for making this such a meaningful & inspiring experience for both of us. You've truly sparked something special! Chris & Jake Mueller Oglesby, Illinois
