We come here every so often for certain things, but do most of our grocery shopping out of town. They have some good sales here in the meat section, which we get at the spur of the moment. Unfortunately, many times they only mark the items down $1, so it's no real big deal. They used to have great beer sales here too, but not anymore. In fact, there's a beer they sell here for $14 a 6 pack that's always $9 at Trader Joe's, regular price. Their high prices are just about the same as everywhere else in town. We get some bread, tea & wine here, but that's just about it. It's a small, independent store, so it's convenient when we just need a few items, but we would never be able to afford to do all of our grocery shopping here. read more

Have lived footsteps from this place for years and it's time to leave a review! The space is cramped and small, "Oops sorry!" with fellow customers are assured, and it doesn't matter - this is a perfect old-school Northern California independent grocery. Impressive stock for the square footage, great (like, really) deli, great staff, stocks both the expected and unexpected items for the region. Excellent cheese department for a small place, too. This is a great store and I don't think it is pricey at all...especially in light of the Evil Empire Whole Foods. I get my produce at the Farm Market and everything else at Fircrest. PLUS if you ask for something, some product you like, if they can, they will get it. This is a neighborhood grocery, people are friendly and the food is fresh. Amazing selection of British foods, including mincemeat for mince pies in all seasons, the tea specially formulated for Scottish water, and haggis (including vegetarian!) in a can. Otherwise, this place has everything, and the staff are all wonderful. read more

Their deli also happens to make some of the best sandwiches in town Some of the same people have been working there since I started going in the late 90s. Me and my girlfriend are travelling trough the United States and feel warm and welcome everywhere we come. Only today we arrived at the Fircrest market and we where not able / allowed to do our daily grocery shopping. The lady behind the counter would only accept an Californian ID and not an international ID because of store policy. Earlier this week we could buy our groceries including a bottle of wine at your store without any problems. We think it is discriminating and certainly in a tourist area not acceptable to discriminate people visiting your country. read more

This is a nice convenient market to go to, a little pricey but it's perfect for something you need for dinner at the last minute.

There's much to like about this neighborhood store, but the deli makes the best sandwiches in Sonoma... maybe in the state. I have a weakness for Italian Subs and theirs is outstanding. We just moved here from LA and are very happy to find Fircrest Market. This is THE place to buy meat. Harris Ranch produces amazing beef, but I have never seen it for sale at any market before. But it's not just the meat that won us over, it is the staff. This place has the best employees, ever! It is a pleasure to shop here. The prices work well, too. One of the main things I miss about the days when I lived in Sebastopol is Fircrest Market. I still go there, but just not as often as I used to, A very friendly staff, many of whom have worked there for a long time, and the accompanying level of excellent customer service, are the things that stand out about this market. The guys at the deli are very, very friendly and helpful. And Fircrest's hot sourdough french bread seems to be amongst the better-kept secrets in the North Bay. My absolute favorite sourdough bread. And if they don't happen to have any fresh, hot bread when I go in, I just get a half-baked loaf and finish baking it at home! The whole family loves it. Our family Loves Fircrest Market For Their Above-And-Beyond Customer Service And Friendly, Helpful Staff!! This place is small town friendly at its best, while still consistently carrying many staple items at reasonable prices. Their customer service is EXCELLENT. I had been purchasing a hard to find dairy item weekly at "the big" grocery store in town, but when they stopped carrying it, I found it at Fircrest. However, they only had 1 or 2 in their usual weekly order, so I asked if they could get more in stock. They ordered a case within days. When I walked in the store only 3 days after my casual inquiry, I was greeted by name and told they just stocked a case of my product! They also offered me a 10% discount on the item, if I needed a full case myself. It's been two months now, and I've gone in weekly, and been able to pick up a half dozen of my items, that Sebastopol's Safeway had said was too difficult to get on a regular basis, and flatly refused to special order! Fircrest has everything you need...great cheese selections (local and imported), wonderful meat and fish counter, local breads, a variety of local wines, beers and ciders...local dairy products (as well as all the standards), FABULOUS fruit and vegetables...I have frequented all Sebastopol and Santa Rosa markets and for a convenient, small, locally owned market...Fircrest HAS IT ALL! And...if they don't carry an item...just ask and they will do their best to get it!!! Prices are below the big markets and the atmosphere and employees are pleasant and helpful!! I moved to Sebastopol from L.A. a few years ago and was initially put off by Fircrest's small aisles and old fashioned look. ( I was used to Gelson's). Now I do 90% of my shopping there. my family and I have been shopping here since they opened I believe 20 years ago...I have grown to appreciate family owned businesses that have been dedicated to their business and the community as whole. They have a few secrets that the locals know well. First there is the almost out of date code section in the meat counter. You can find a significant price reduction for quality meat and deli items. Next and the most important is the mechanical chicken egg producer. Near the front door since the beginning they have a machine that when you put in a quarter the chicken in the center starts plucking away until an plastic egg with a prize in it drops down. My children always looked forward to their adventure to Fircrest Market. Time to bring in my granddaughter for the egg experience. The other major asset of Fircrest is the attentiveness of the staff. Many of them have been there for over 10 years and that in itself speaks loudly for the quality of management. The Deli department staff under Ken make sure everything is kept fresh and their pricing for sandwiches are great and they tend to load them up. As for pricing as in many small grocery stores they cannot always compete with the larger ones but they do very well with their sales and try to stay competitive. How often can you visit a store today and be recognized by the help and acknowledged? At Fircrest they acknowledge us through the level of support and quality of staff. read more

I love this store. I always find what I'm looking for and the people are very friendly. It's small and gets mind of crowded depending on when you come in but everything is great, cheeses, meats, wine, produce and whatever else you're looking for. The only thing I have wanted that they didn't have is when I wanted a quick spaghetti sauce, the one that comes in a bottle and it's fresh tomatoes pureed.. Other than that they are great. I like grocery shopping, it's kind of fun and soothing.. I like coming to fircrest. The deli is great too, I love their sandwiches and the bread is always fresh. They bake their bread there too and will give you a fresh loaf that you can bake at home! Yum read more

Fircrest is the best! I am lucky to live right down the road so I come here often. The staff is very friendly. The prices are great! It is just a good ol' sebastopol grocery store. We love it! I do wish they would carry a few more specialized items.... but I have never seen a suggestion box, I will be looking into that. Not sure they have the room to carry everyones "favorite item?" Overall, great, easy, affordable shopping with lots of organic choices as well! But bring a sweater or a jacket, for some reason it is always FREEZING in there! read more

Best independent locally owned grocery store in Sebastopol. Nice, friendly staff with good deli and reasonably priced sandwiches. Good steaks and cheese section. Fine wine selection and fruits and veggies. Nice mix of locally produced organic dairy , fruit and vegetables. Prices are on par with Safeway and certainly lower than Pacific Market and Whole Foods. What a find! I've just moved to Sebastopol and my realtor and I started talking about bologna sandwiches.. he likes them too but its really hard to find good bologna. Fircrest has a wonderful variety! The thin sliced German and garlic are heavenly! They also have a great selection of European and Italian speciality meat products at a good price. I have been coming here since I was a baby. Maybe that makes me biased, but I love this store. Same people working since I was a kid, with the exception of the baggers which are all high school kids from Analy. Their deli makes a decent sandwich, and their pasta salads are delicious. Do not go here during dinner rush (430pm-6pm). It is chaos and the aisles are too narrow to handle all the people. The bread section leaves much to be desired as they seem to run out quite quickly, but they also carry a lot of products you can't get elsewhere. The staff are very friendly and remember all the regulars. A great little market to support. read more

Best grocery store in Sebastopol. It doesn't have the selection of, say, Fiesta, or the supercharge organic power of Whole Foods (formerly known as Food for Thought), but it has remained pretty much the same for at least twenty-one years (I know because we started shopping there when I was five). They have delicious fresh-baked french bread, some organic selections in the aisles, and much of the produce is local (they've been doing that since before it was cool), likewise on the meat (if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure that they buy livestock from 4-Hers during County Fair season). The customer demographic is wonderfully eclectic. You've got the old ladies from the convalescent homes and the rough-hewn rancher folk from just outside of town and plenty of other random folk like me. read more

After a mediocre meal across the street at Handline, I was still hungry and stopped at the market. The bbq and smoker on the weekend is the best. I had the Tri tip chili and it was damm good.
