I was so happy to stumble up on this place in North market. My biggest problem was to eat? Everything worked so incredibly good. The gentleman that helped me was very friendly and there were seats a little ways down to sit and eat or you could eat outside. You wanna to eat at north market, it is a lot of fun. Very casual. I have some go to food when I am at the North Market, but thought I would give this place a try the other day and I am SO glad I did! It was delicious! The staff was super friendly, and the place smelled amazing. The chicken kabobs were crazy tender and super flavorful. The Mojadara rice was really nice and not nearly as salty as other places I have been which was a huge plus for me. The salad that came with it was fairly standard but fresh, tasty and pretty significant in size. Only the naan was truly weak, but honestly I didn't even need it. It was a ton of food! Another great option at the north market! It's a competition for the senses at north market & Firdous won me over with their assortment of offerings. It was minutes after opening & I was the second customer of the day which entitled me to the first slice of the Musaka along with a small Greek salad & heaping helping of Algerian spicy rice. Everything was delicious & complex. I had never had musaka before & would describe it as a richer more decadent pseudo lasagna. Rice was stellar & I want more of it in my life. Picked up two dozen of their assorted desserts, wish I took a closer look before spending $60. Whoever prepared the baklava should be ashamed of themselves. Baklava is expensive because of the meticulous work layering phyllo dough sheets with butter and filling. It's a process that somebody completely sidestepped. Laziness. This was some of the tastiest and most tender chicken breast I've ever had! So delicious and full of flavor, juicy and opposite of dry. Also a great value for the portion size of the meals they have, I got a chicken kebab meal that comes with rice and salad for about $15. I added hummus, pita, and water, and I was still around $20. For my first visit to North Market, my sister and I decided to get some Mediterranean for lunch. Boy, are we glad we did. We got a shawarma plate with gyro meat. It came with pita, hummus, and salad. The salad was chock-full of toppings and had a delicious dressing. The hummus was very tasty. The pita was a bit thinner than I prefer, it was still good for holding meat and hummus to make a tasty bite. I love going to the North Market and trying to things to eat! It's one of my favorite places to go in the city. Way back in the day I had tried Firdous Express, but I mean WAY back. It has to have been at least ten years or so. However, over the weekend I decided to give it another go. I've been on somewhat of a Greek food kick and I wanted something refreshing. I got in line and was greeted right away. There was no hello or smile, just a "what can I get you?" I ordered the vegetarian falafel meal, which came with a salad, hummus and pita, and 4 pieces of falafel. I also grabbed a water and the total came to ten bucks even. Pretty reasonable pricing in my opinion. I took my food to go so I could enjoy it at Goodale Park while listening to music (jazz in the park from 12:30-2PM on Sunday, it's awesome!). After finding a nice shaded spot under a tree, I dove in. The salad was just what I wanted on a hot, sunny day. The falafel itself was pretty good. I really enjoyed the sauce they squirted on top. The hummus and pita on the other hand... not the best. The pita was not good at all. Very thin, hard, and bland. Seriously, like cardboard. The hummus was simply the not the best. The portion size was good, but the flavor was very lackluster. All in all, this experience was an even three stars. The customer service could have been friendlier, and the food could have used a few tweaks. For an extremely fast-casual style of Greek though, it did the trick. I got enough to eat, the price was comparable to other spots in the market, and they won me over with the variety of veggie options to choose from. read more

Decided to try something new when I went to North Market and I was pleasantly surprised. The people explained the menu well and all the food looked really good. Now, the salmon portions have gotten smaller over the years (used to be 2 filets), but the deliciousness has only gotten better. The kabob was loaded with huge pieces of flavorful, seasoned chicken and some veggies. It comes with a choice of rice, of which there were four options. We went with a veggie rice. There was a choice of Greek salad or a veggie blend (green beans, asparagus, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli), and we went with the veggie blend. It was topped off with a couple pieces of pita. The box was packed with the generous portions. The food was tasty, especially the tender and flavorful chicken. We would love to try some more options in the future. Was looking for something for lunch while in Columbus for my daughter's volleyball tournament. We love gyros, so I gave Firdous a shot. I have to say it was just ok. The sign described what was on the gyro and it included all the normal ingredients and toppings including tzatziki. When I ordered I was offered tzatziki for a $1 more. When I asked they said a gyro sauce was included. That is not what their sign said and tzatziki is clearly the traditional topping. I was in a hurry, so I paid the additional. The food was ok, not great and I was irritated with the additional charge. I think three stars is more than fair. read more

Stopped by Firdous Express for some lunch on a recent visit to Columbus. The daily special salad looked tasty, but at $15, I decided to build my own salad. For $10, I built a very similar salad to the $15 one. My salad had chicken scharma, greens, saffron rice, tomato, and cucumber. It was very tasty and I would definitely order it again. Firdous Express is a must stop if I'm at the North Market. They have some great falafel there, as well as taboulli. It's pretty quick service because there's hardly ever a line. This makes it such an easy place for me to stop. The price is also pretty fair for the amount of food. I ordered the vegetarian combo. It comes as an entree or a sandwich. The entree is the better value because you get more. It comes with baba ghanouch, two falafel, hummus, pitas, and taboulli. This is the best thing on the menu because you can sample lots of the best items. Baba ghannouch at some restaurants is sometimes way too runny. When you get it here it's always thick. It comes with a few pieces of falafel. They are covered in a very good tahini sauce. It also comes with a very creamy hummus. The tabbouli is fresh and seasoned well. It's the best thing you can get there. This was not a bad amount for $7.95. It's not the best price you'll find anywhere, but it's good for the food. This is one of the better values in the North Market. I will get this again next visit at the North Market. The food is tasty and the service is fast. Let down by poor service and uneven offerings. I like the range. It's more varied than the usual Mediterranean selection. I like all the vegetarian options. Some of the dishes are flavorful. The Egyptian Moussaka is my fave. The quality is mixed. Some of the dishes are a little bland, like the thin, overcooked roast leg of lamb stew. In-person, the set up is a little weird. You start at the protein end but you're first asked for your choice of rice ...and that's at the other end of the line so you haven't seen it yet. They get impatient that you don't know their selection. They could so easily tell you, or recommend something. But they don't. They have to move up and down the line too. Maybe that's why they seem so annoyed? Nothing about the service is good. The lady barks at you, even when there's no lunchtime line. The guy on the register tries to nickel and dime you and up-sell. If you change your mind about one of the extras pushed your way, you're told you have to pay. Know what you want before you join the line or order. Try to look past the rude service, because some of the food is good. read more

Firdous Express is not my go-to Mediterranean restaurant, however it serves its purpose in a pinch. When my fridge is empty and I am too lazy to drive out for food, I will pick up something from the North Market since it's only a few minutes walk from my apartment. I usually get the gyro/shawarma meal which comes with salad, rice, hummus, pita and slices of beef and lamb. It's a generous plate of food for $9, which is the main reason I keep coming back. It's also relatively "light" and I don't feel terrible about myself after chowing down. Taste-wise, it's just okay. The salad is fresh and their simple sweet dressing is good. Everything else is pretty average. The meat is tender but somewhat bland. The same thing applies to their rice. Their s Also, who knows how long the meat sits out for, since I never see them cut meat off the vertical spit directly. I've also ordered their Tunisian Chicken which suffers from the same problem of being somewhat bland. Combining the spicy rice with this helps a bit, but in the end, I just want more flavor. Overall, Firdous Express is a good option for a reasonably priced, filling and healthy meal. Just don't expect umami to be knocking on your taste buds. I'll be back to try their other items. Maybe their lamb shank or honey mustard chicken, since it's hard for me to imagine those dishes being bland. read more

I hadn't been to Firdous in a few years so I picked by a couple shawarmas last night. Somehow they managed to put sadness on a pita. As they were dumping way too much hummus on the pallid meat and scraping the meager remnants of iceberg salad to add to the sandwich I felt the way I imagine one feels in the midst of a car accident: it was too late to avoid what was coming next. The food was mediocre, but my dog enjoyed it going so far as to eat gyro meat off my plate. The baklava was great, though. Still I really wish I would have gone someplace else for dinner. read more

I couldn't decide where to eat out of all the places in North Market but the AMAZING smells coming from Firdous called me in! As a big lover of Greek food I asked the server what I should get, when she suggested the Greek fries, I thought they were going to be gimmicky and just be fries with some feta, gyro, and seasoning. BOY WAS I WRONG. The best Greek fries I've ever had. I recommend for anyone who loves crispy fries, Greek flavors, and happiness. The hummus is delicious and I always order the larger one and then eat off it for...okay...just the evening because that's how long it lasts. My standard is the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich which, to me, is the best in town. Over the years there's been a couple of missteps but that happens. To begin with, I liked that entire north market has taken very good measures to take care of their customers while taking all necessary precautions for protecting people from COVID exposure. The place was not very crowded on the day we visited North Market, so we could easily get seating space in the outdoor area. The place was clean and sanitized. This is probably the worst food I've ever had!! Do not waste your time and money!! The Felafel was precooked and microwaved for service. Then loaded with Tahini sauce - as if they weren't soft enough after going through the microwave. The North Market is just an over priced mall food court!! This delightful little spot is tucked inside North Market with a bajillion other vendors. We were actually headed to a different spot for lunch, but as soon as I passed this place, I knew it was what I had to have for lunch. If I was basing my review solely off if my experience, it would be 5 stars. However, my family wasn't quite as thrilled, so 4 it is. I got a veggie combo entree (hummus, baba, taboulli, and falafel) and got 2 individual vegetable grape leaves. All of my food was delicious. I finished all of it except for the baba, which I'm not a huge fan of in general. Now the negative. My daughter's chicken schwarma sandwich fell apart before she could even take a bite, the chicken looked weird (and she said it tasted weird), and she didn't like her brown rice. I will say my toddler devoured the brown rice though, so who knows. Overall, i wouldn't not go there again, but they definitely need to do better on their chicken. read more
