LaShish the Greek is no more. It is now Mr. Shawarma / LaShish the Greek and it is completely different and really bad. The proprietor was nice but he spoke very little English. The menu was only on the wall and it listed names of dishes and prices but no photos or descriptions. It made ordering difficult. For some reason, my Chicken Shawarma Bowl included rice but my friend's Felafel Bowl did not. My vegetables were nice & fresh but my chicken was tiny little strips that seemed like chicken product - it was strips or stripes of dark and light meat and it didn't really look like or taste like chicken. My bowl also needed a lot more sauce. Also, the restaurant had no music so it was so quiet that you could hear everyone else's conversation. I think we all tried to whisper but still it was uncomfortable. This "new" Lashish is no substitute for the old one. read more

This area has plenty of dining options, but while in town, Lashish caught my eye. I've eaten at quite a few Mediterranean establishments in my life but can now confidently say that this has become my new favorite, it's a shame that it's over an hour away from home for me. The owner greeted us upon arrival and was incredibly warm, kind and welcoming. The menu has a great selection with something for just about everybody. We were incredibly impressed with how quickly our food came out and how fresh and piping hot everything was. As far as the quality and authenticity goes, Lashish is untouchable. Fantastic food, the servings are large and pickup was seamless. We ordered a shawarma platter, a falafel platter, chicken kabob and lemon chicken soup. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. The dishes came with potatoes and they were also delicious. My favorite was the lemon chicken soup. There used to be a restaurant called Fisherman's Wharf on the North side that had the best lemon chicken soup I ever had and I haven't found any to compare in over 20 years...until now. Next time I will order a bowl instead of a cup and an extra one for lunch the next day. It was the perfect consistency, thicker but no gloppy, with shreds of chicken, ,orzo pasta and a savory/tart lemon flavor. I am wishing I had some more right now, I will dream about this soup! THEN JUST YESSSSS When I was like 18 I have this friend from the Middle East and he took me to this amazing restaurant and he fed me a kefta kebab with yogurt and delicious rice and I've been trying to find something similar for going on 20 years. Well I still haven't found anything in Columbus that touched that place, this is very good. I got it off of doordash, it was 15 bones. Came with a sodey pop, and a box full of yummy rice, a few steamed vegetables which were crunchy and delicious (but needed salt), and two huge kefta kabobs with a large ramekin of yogurt. Located in a strip mall I've passed at least 40 times and thought, "I should stop in there!" Well, I finally did! The owner is very polite and accommodating. I dined in at lunch time on a Saturday and just wanted something light before donating blood. I ordered the tabboulah salad and the lentil soup. Both were very lemony. The tomatoes in the salad were very fresh but contained just a small amount of grain. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying a fish entree as they offered several options. read more

I like all the restaurants in this strip mall and Lashish the Greek has some of the best Greek food in the city. It's on Bethel Road which is known for its many ethnic restaurants. The owner is mostly a nice fellow who greets every customer as they come in. It's not a big dining area so a lot order carry out. The selections are mostly standard but there are a few signature items. I went with selections that any decent Greek restaurant would do right. It has hummus of course. This may not be that much to get excited over, but it helps you figure out how good they are. If they can't get the hummus right they can't get much else right either. The appetizer was a good size and was about $5. It was worth it and better than expected after experiencing lackluster efforts at other places around here. The appetizer was creamy and smooth, and had appropriate hints of garlic and lemon. It tastes good in the pitas and sandwiches. The falafel is also good. Another popular item is the fries. The regular ones were good, and they can come with feta and spices. I will be sure to come to Lashish the Greek again. It has some of the best Greek food in the city, and there's a lot of competition there. Whenever around Bethel and looking for something healthy but not too expensive, come visit. read more

On a whim one evening, we decided to order Greek from Lashish, hoping that it would turn out to be a place we would love and want to frequent. Since we were ordering takeout, we decided on a variety of small dishes and one large dish for each of us -- adana kabob and iskender kabob. We also had spanakopita falafel and kibbeh. The food was fresh and piping hot when we picked it up, and I was excited to dig in once we got home. I have to say that the appetizers were good but not blow-you-away amazing. I had high hopes since I had not eaten Mediterranean in a while and really missed it. But they were good, and I was satisfied. The kabobs were also good but not amazing. The best aspect of the main dishes was their size -- there was so much food that I could barely eat half. So, we had leftovers the next day. Since they came in aluminum containers, we could easily warm them in the oven without worrying about that hot-on-the-outside but cold-on-the-inside effect that microwaves often cause. Unfortunately, they weren't nearly as good the next day. Along with the mean we received bread and a dipping oil. The bread was absolutely amazing, the best part of the entire meal. Will I go back? Most likely, yes. As I say, it wasn't knock-your-socks off great, but it was good. Since it's local and close to home, I have no reason not to go back. Maybe the next time it will be even better. New favorite Greek place! Quick service, friendly, nice family owned place. I got the vegetarian platter. Comes with 3 falafel, 3 grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, pita, and their fattoush salad which is like a small side salad. The hummus might be the most flavorful I've had. Me and the kids had to go to Columbus on Thursday to pick up a MP purchase and I was hungry for some good Greek food and we found a place called Lashish the Greek Mediterranean food and the gentleman who answered the phone, I told him my story, a girl from Michigan that found it hard to find good Greek food in Ohio and he fulfilled this girls dreams way beyond my expectations, the Kibbeh and the Baba was the best I've ever eaten (even in Michigan) my daughter hasn't tasted Greek food since she was little and she stole my Kibbeh and the Baba lol Of course I didn't mind (maybe a little) but we will definitely be going back next time we're in Columbus or got a craving, didn't mind the trip with such great food! Ordered through Door Dash. Others in my party enjoyed the pastitsio, hummus and kibbeh, all of which they liked. I personally ordered the fattoush salad which is something I eat on the regular. Disappointed that it came with iceberg lettuce, already dressed so it was soggy and no toasted pieces in it. So basically it was a side salad. Chicken lemon soup was a generous portion, clearly homemade, but lacking in flavor. I'd give it another try, staying away from those two items. read more

Very good! I stopped in here after a tough workout to grab something healthy-ish for dinner. I ended up ordering the falafel wrap and a side of tzatziki with extra pita. Once they took my order and started making it, I realized I ordered a lunch-only meal, but they made it for me anyway. They didn't say a word, so that was nice! On a Friday night, we ended up at Lashish the Greek after we met up with a bunch of people to eat at Johnny Buccelli's, but they closed early. Since Lashish was nearby, and had great Yelp reviews, we decided to check it out. It is a very small restaurant with limited seating, but the place was packed even after 8 pm! It was warm and inviting inside, which was nice because it was very cold outside. The menu was easy to decipher and we ordered quickly since we were hungry. Everybody was very happy with their orders and much praise was given to the quality and taste of the food. Order: Small order of Hummus as an appetizer, and my wife and I both ordered the Lashish Gyro Combo Dinner with lamb meat and a salad. The Hummus was very smooth and very tasty. The Gyro is now on the top of my list for best Gyros in Columbus! Very soft and juicy meat, fresh toppings and a very nice sauce to bring it all together. The side salad was also fresh and the house greek dressing was also very good. We had a great time together as a family and the food was perfect. Saw this place on Yelp was highly reviewed and the missus wanted some Greek food, our go to place is Yanni's but this place was right by her work so we decided to come here and give it a try. Yanni's sets a very high bar for Greek food but we came in with an open mind. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by the owner that so many folks here speak of. He was very friendly and you could, as everyone says, tell he really loves his restaurant and loves his food and isn't afraid to show some good ol' fashioned customer service. This alone is a rarity in the restaurant business and something I wish I could see more of. We started off with the hummus appetizer. The hummus was quite good but not quite as good as Yanni's. This is subjective of course. Yanni's loads his hummus with a ton of garlic, which Stefanie and I both love and others may not so much. Lashish the Greek's hummus isn't as garlicky, which may actually be more appealing for some folks. Next up for me was the Chicken Lemon soup. This was very, very good and on par with Yanni's. It had more meat in it that Yanni's did but that positive was offset by the fact that Yanni's is a bit more sour tasting (again something some folks may be put off by). Thumbs up big time on the soup from me! For our main entree we got the Gyro that comes with fries. I had chosen to get soup with mine instead of fries though but I did manage to sample some of Stefanies and they were quite good. The gyro was fantastic, filled with meat. It also had banana peppers which I think made it superior to Yanni's, although Stef disagreed as she doesn't like banana peppers. I told Mo the owner that it was a brilliant idea to add them to spice it up a little and he said that was the intent. The only issue I have with the gyro here versus Yanni's is that it only comes in one size whereas Yanni gives you small, medium and large. The gyro I got for dinner was plenty filling, it was quite big in fact, so that's not the issue, it's just nice to have choices in size. So in summary it seems as if we prefer Yanni's hummus but I prefer Lashish's gyro and the soup and fries are pretty much a tie. This place is a bit more expensive than Yanni's but to offset that it's got a nicer dinning experience inside, much better looking dining room and the seating is more spaced out so I think price wise that it's a wash for what you get. Also, speaking of price, Mo did bring us out some samples and some tea, of which were delicious and I thought it was a nice touch. Mo himself seems like a very nice man and I did bring up Yanni's and as it turns out he had worked with Yanni's father! So no wonder these are the two best places to find Greek food in Columbus. There's a connection there. Whatever he's doing I told him to keep up the great work as this place is a gem and a real winner. If you're looking for some great Greek food you can't go wrong with either place! read more

I came here last night for dinner after seeing all the yelling and shouting on Yelp. It is indeed a small space with about twenty tables. And I was surprised I didn't have to wait for one after seeing twenty-three reviews. I was seated by the waiter and the owner was bustling around all evening. You can tell he really enjoys the customer contact. I started off with a small order of hummus. The hummus was delicious but the pita bread was just so-so or maybe even a little less. I then ordered dolmakia and a spanakpita (grape leaves and a puff pastry filled with spinach). Both of those were just great! I was really a little full for dessert but the owner brought me a little square of cake and a glass of tea. That was a very nice gesture on his part. Great Greek food. I know a gyro is not the measure of great Greek food but theirs is the best I ever had. The food was moist and flavorful. The prices are reasonable and everyone liked what they had with the exception of the stuffed grape leaves. I had a gyro with Greek salad and my son had their Sole (fish). The meals were just excellent. We came back the next day for Turkish Coffee and it was also excellent. I only came once and it was late because a place we tried to go to was closing early. This was a nice surprise - the decor is like a diner but the food more than makes up for it. read more

The food here is rather basic. I've tried twice and both times I was not particularly impressed. My veggie gyro was a wee-bit flavorless and the fries were... just blah. I consider myself pretty easy to please when it comes to fries and these weren't all that great. I was given some sort of yellow piece of cake or something for my wait and it was yucky. At least parking was easy... Oh and to the patrons of the female persuasion: the older, owner-looking gentleman, although very sweet, seems to like the ladies and will pretty much violate your person space when flirting. I came here a few weeks ago in the early afternoon and had a nice, little meal. It was only me and one other person here on a weekday, so the service was prompt and very friendly. The place is pretty small, and the menu seemed pretty standard for a good Greek restaurant. They have a few specials on the board as you walk in, but I ended up going with the Shawarma pita and the Cajun fries. The sauce (and I believe hummus) on the pita were really good. Rather than a pita pocket like a lot of the shawarma I've had in Columbus, this one was wrapped in a long thin pita similar to Lavash. I'm not sure if I like it as much as Pita House or Pita Hut-n-Grill, but it was still very tasty. The highlight for me here were the Cajun fries. I was expecting just regular fries with a dusting of Cajun seasoning, but these came with a hot Cajun sauce and feta all over them. So freakin' good! Honestly, I just wanted to stop in for a quick lunch to get a feel of the place, since I'd never tried it before but had seen so many good things. Had I known it was right there a few years ago when my buddy lived up the street, I'd have been one of the number one customers. As it is, I get up to Bethel somewhat often, so I'm sure I'll be back if not just to take the girlfriend. We stopped in this evening, since we were close by and in the mood for Mediterranean. Not going to lie- the reviews were also a big part of why we stopped in... We had the combo appetizer platter, tabbuleh, and both the lamb and chicken kebabs. The combo platter was tasty, the baba ganoush wasn't my favorite but it was fresh and the platter was well put together overall and we ate it all :). The tabbuleh was awesome, it was almost all parsley vs grain but it had great lemony flavor and was amply salted. The pita was fresh and warm and soft and everything appeared to be fresh. The lamb kebab was good, my mom enjoyed it. The rice and veggies it was served with were fairly bland... but the kebab itself was tasty. My chicken kebab was ok, the chicken was Marinated but needed a little salt, and one piece was a little pink inside, which is a no no for chicken. So overall- our meal was pretty good, the portions were perfect and it was better than average Mediterranean food. We took home baklava and enjoyed it later- it was cheap, large portions, and delicious. The one thing I wish was different was the ambiance. we did arrive really early (5pm) and it felt a little like we were interrupting. The chef was out front smoking, the guys waiting on us were at a table with some other guys talking pretty loudly (I know a lot of details about how much some potential changes in the restaurant will cost)... the gentleman took our order but we had to flag him down after to get drinks... compared to most other places in Ohio where everyone is so friendly this definitely felt a little different. but we did get our food pretty fast and we were in and out in a little under an hour... so all in all it was a successful evening. read more
