I NEED TO REVISE MY PREVIOUS REVIEW. I said that the prices were too high but I simply mis-remembered my order!! The calamari appetizer is like $10. Also the soup comes with the chicken kabab!! So all in all, I just want to say that for the reasonable prices you're paying, you get a good quantity (and quality!!) of food. Wonderful restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food I had was excellent, I ordered the Chicken Lemonata and it was so good I had to return a week later and order it again. The chicken lemon soup was also terrific. I enjoyed their lentil soup when I went back and it was very good, but I definitely preferred the chicken lemon soup. Their Baklava is to die for, and very reasonably priced. A little piece of Tarpon Springs, FL right here! We just tried Yanni's Greek Restaurant and it did not disappoint. The hummus (extra garlic lovers; this is for you!), chicken gyros, and chicken kabobs were all delicious. And don't skip dessert. The strawberry cheesecake baklava had just come out of the oven and was absolutely amazing! The staff was wonderful, and the owner (who took over 2 years ago) personally came out to speak with us. For the past 20 years, anytime I get a cold, I pick up Yanni's chicken lemon soup. We call it "Medicinal Soup" at my house. What they are serving now is NOT Chicken Lemon Soup! This thin, over-seasoned soup is not even close to the previous recipe. My husband got a gyro and the sauce was watery and the pita was soggy. The meat just didn't have much flavor. This is not the Yanni's menu we have raved about to all our friends. We are now on a quest to find a new Greek restaurant. read more

She is friendly and communicative with updates, she is amazing with suggestions for food and it's just all around a wonderful benefit to this business! Sooo good! I was recommended this place by multiple people so when we moved close by I figured I would give it a try! I got a Greek sub and my husband got a cheeseburger. As well as a spanakopita! The total was $24 and they were generous portions. Everything was so delicious! We will definitely be back. I plan to bring my parents next time they are in town too. A big part of my five stars comes down to the service. Our server could tell I knew a bit about the Greek world from how I ordered, and then we were off to the races. He gave us recommendations, he taught us a bit of Greek, he told us about where his ancestors had lived in Anatolia, and he invited us to the Greek festival. I don't often rate a restaurant highly because of the service, but this service was incredibly friendly and made me feel like family. The food was also great! We started with kopanisti (spicy cheese), followed by the souvlaki bowl and moussaka for mains. The highlight was the moussaka in all of its creamy, delightful bechamel goodness. The souvlaki bowl wasn't bad but a little underwhelming -- if they asked me for recommendations, I could punch up the flavors! Needs more vegetables and herbs. My husband asked where I wanted to eat for my birthday, and I said "Yanni's!". Since it's over 1 1/2 hours from our home, it had been quite awhile since we'd last eaten here. We ordered an appetizer of spanikopita - delicious! For entrees, it was moussaka with a side salad for my husband and a gyro platter with lemon chicken soup for me. Again, the food was delicious and the portions generous. In honor of my birthday we were treated to a chocolate glazed baklava and a sweet cheese-filled phyllo for dessert. Both were very good! Our server was very friendly, prompt and checked in with us regularly. The owner also stopped by to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Came here for a takeout meal during a recent weekend getaway. We ordered ahead and the lady who helped us was as nice as could be! We ordered a mess of soup and appetizers as well as a gyro platter. When we arrived, everything was in order including extra plasticware and styro containers to use as plates. First off, the soup...we'd heard good things about their chicken lemon variety and boy did it deliver! The broth was on the thicker side, but not exactly creamy. Within the soup were some small veggies, rice / grain and pieces of chicken all complimented by the tang of the lemon; it was super-tasty! For appetizers (to share across our family) we got spanakopita, saganaki and dolmathes. The saganaki (fried cheese) did not travel well back to the hotel. Although its flavor was good, as soon as it cooled down it was a solid block, hard to portion and share. The spanakopita (spinach pie) was backed into large triangular-shaped phyllo dough and backed till golden brown. The combination of spinach and tangy cheese made for an excellent bite. Their dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves) were much larger than any other version I'd ever had...stuffed with a typical meat mixture and served with a strong, tangy lemon dill sauce. I really enjoyed these! Last was the gyro platter...tender gyro meat strips, served alongside the typical fixings of shredded lettuce, tomato slices, thin onion slices, warmed pita triangles and a creamy garlic dipping sauce. This dish is easily sharable and means you can create your own gyro experience by using as many ingredients as you wish. Would much rather sit in their restaurant to enjoy a meal...but given COVID-19 times, this will have to do! We'll be back, once this pandemic gets better under control and we visit Columbus again! read more

This is a sad review for me going here fifteen years but the reality today: Plus: Food was ok. Food came late and have to hear server preach to us "can't you see how busy we are?" Ruins food experience. Not so plus: Restaurant was a poof of smoke. Should have walked out but meeting client. Smelled horrible walking out and was embarrassed how I my smelled from a grease fire in the kitchen for my post lunch appointment Server forgot my drink as I waited fifteen minutes to get his attention while by hummus app came. Speaking of hummus, they force you to order (extra cost) for enough pita to serve the small portion. Hint: charge a little extra and not make us wait to order extra pita and serve a little more. Drink refill sat empty entire lunch. Server walked in circles before serving us. Needs to retire. Been this way for 15 years. Late for my meeting and asked for check and said he would be right over. Ten minutes later. No check. Client had to pay as he felt bad I was going to be late for my next meeting. This is such a shame where it has gone. read more

For casual Greek food, please give Yanni's a chance!!! My husband and I have been going to Yanni's since we were dating in college (26-27 years). Even when we moved out of town, we always made the effort to return. We would walk in and were immediately recognized whenever we went and then in recent years, the restaurant was purchased and sold a couple of times and we quickly found the food and experience was not even close to the same as it once was. The first new owner did such a horrible job, we swore we would never return, but recently my husband wanted to return one last time. Reluctantly, I went with him, and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is the same- dated and in a random shopping center, but it feels like the old Yanni's and regulars will appreciate that. Now that the latest owner has taken over, we feel we may be as close to the original recipes as we will ever be again. If you were a long-time, regular patron like us, but then became disappointed around the time of the pandemic, please give them one more try. Our server Orlando was very nice and provided great service. He even said Tom, our favorite server decided to come back! We missed him on his day off but were glad to hear that! As for the food, we always get the same items: gyros, the gyro salad and hummus. Yanni's hummus was always better than anywhere else we had tried and while it may not be the exact old recipe, most things are nearly what they originally were. My best friend many years ago blessed me by showing me yannis; unfortunately he passed away a month ago, so I have been visiting this restaurant a lot. The staff is absolutely amazing! They speak to you like a person, and they want you to have a great experience, the staff is just great! The individual who checked me out shared a ton of information to me once I noticed some of the pastries to try. She told me about an I've cream the you put the dessert (sorry can't remember the name) on top of, which we did, and just wow. The food is great, the staff is great! The ambiance of the place makes you feel at home. So relaxing, and again, the food, just wow! I will say truly, the moussaka is the absolute best I have ever tasted, as an armchair chef I have made it many times myself, but it never tastes like theirs, maybe I cam bribe them for the recipe. All in all, this is the best Greek food in Columbus, out of the many I have tried. I know I've not eaten at everyone (yet), but I can truly say, if you go to Yannis, you will have an absolutely wonderful time. And remember! Treat restaurant employees with kindness, and understanding. So many things can happen in a restaurant, it truly is a stressful job, with low wages. So be nice, and tip big. My personal is 30%, and while I don't personally agree with percentages to rule the tip amounts, for me it's the service, waiters make such great actors, because you still have to smile and nod at the a-hole. Anyways! Yannis is great! And it's pretty much my only place for said cuisine. The new owners and their awful recipes are ruining this place. The lemon chicken soup was once my go to when sick or if I just wanted something fresh and lemony and now it over salted, seems to have a generic "Greek seasoning" mix in it, and only faintly tastes of lemon. The hummus used to be the best I've ever had and now it's bland and watery. The spanakopita used to be flavorful, rich, and crispy but now it's bland, greasy, and tastes like they use frozen spinach. My go to has now become a no go because some egotistical fools bought a neighborhood staple and decided to change everything. It'll be sad to see them go out of business but everything I loved about the place is already gone. read more

Who knew there was treasure gold in the strip shopping center behind the strip club, Sirens? My boyfriend and I are on the search most recently to crown the best gyro in Columbus. I think we've found a contender here at Yanni's that will be hard to beat. We sat in the dining room on a Friday evening and it was all a buzz. Families & couples packed the rear of this strip mall hole in the wall. We started with the hummus platter. Just go ahead and order extra pita immediately. It's fresh and warm and the perfect scoop for this ridiculously delicious garlicky hummus. (Bring breath mints if you're self conscious of having garlic breath!) I had the gyro salad and my boyfriend had the regular gyro. We loved both of these similar dishes and portions were large, so we each barely finished. This is very obviously a local, family-run spot and I loved that about the service and our server. He was an older gentleman with corny jokes and really sweet to us knowing it was our first visit. Definitely don't be afraid to eat-in here for the experience. We brought home dessert because the pastry case was calling to us and wouldn't let us leave without it. Baklava cheesecake? What!!? If you're looking for amazing gyros, Yanni's is the place! They have a great lunch special for a small gyro, fries, and drink for under $10. And don't let the small gyro fool you - it's so filling! And the fries are amazing and large in portion. I have a hard time eating all of it without feeling completely stuffed. For some reason, they also have the best fountain Coke! Don't forget to order a side of gyro sauce to dip the fries in. Although, they don't really need it, it's a nice addition. Yanni is super nice and friendly! It's a small cafe, so it's not great for a large party. I've gone with 3 others and have had to wait for seating. It's always busy but it's worth the wait. read more
