Yum! Glad we stopped by to try out this place as everything we ate was delicious! We had the following and wound order it all again: 1/2 chicken-moist chicken and great flavor on the skin. Cilantro rice-nice and fluffy Black beans-nicely cooked and flavored well plantains-some of the best I have had! Did the order online and everything was ready when I came in to pick it up. The lady who made sure I got the right bad also put in silverware since we were going to be eating it in the car. Inside there is a dining area. This was my second visit. I went back to see if it really was as good as I remembered. It sure was! I got the combination skewers (chicken, beef, and shrimp). It came with two sides. Friend of mine introduced Fire & Chicken Peruvian Restaurant because it smells good from outside. No kidding, I can smell it stronger as we walked in. I believe this restaurant has been here for a while. I couldn't remember what the employee said. There are 2 sitting areas, hot and toasty. Hot area was 91 degrees and Toasty area was 78 degrees with blazing afternoon sun. Either area was just hot. We ordered Chicharron Plater and Dark Chicken plates. Looking at the receipt, there was a CC Fee. Because they charge 4.3% for credit card fee. Ashland's sales tax for restaurant is 12%. I calculated it as I paid tax on the credit card fee. If I drove further out to Richmond, it's only 10% for restaurants. Grrr... Food was mediocre. Not coming back. read more

This is one of those occasions where I deliberate between 4 and 5 stars. No one thing wowed me but I did appreciate the fast service. Very solid food with reasonable prices. Given the long line outside, it seems that others agreed with me. Despite that line, I was wowed how fast my food came out (it probably heled I ordered their staples). I ordered the 1/2 chicken with two sides; yuca and plantains (PS - I love that you have two side options). Everything was good. The location is your typical fast-food joint experience. A Peruvian style restaurant offering chicken, steak, lamb and seafood. The restaurant is a stand alone building the size of most fast food store and is a similar style where you order at the counter and otherwise self serve. Ambiance is similar to fast food with a little extra softening of hard surfaces by using vines to help cover pipes and the ceiling. They smoke some of their food here and indoors can be a little smoky. They offer outdoor seating if desired. Service was friendly and helpful. Prices were very reasonable and comparable to fast food but with healthier and larger portions. Truly the best of Peruvian styled food I've had in the Richmond area, food was very fresh, cooked perfectly and great portion sizes from entrees to sides. They offer more traditional chicken plates at quarter, half and whole chickens plus a variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas and even gyros along with a great selection of sides. The variety of food here was definitely beyond the standard restaurants of this type. Our table ordered the more traditional chicken plates and they did not disappoint. So, some context: from the perspective of someone from Pittsburgh (foodie central) this whole area of Virginia was very much lacking in food options. We ended up finding this place on Google and drove a good bit out of our way to get here. We are so glad we did. First, the owner was extremely helpful. Since there are a few things I have to avoid eating, it was so refreshing to speak to someone who knew off the top of his head what was in their recipes. And he was so gracious about it. I really appreciated that. Then, when the food came, it was really good. If you have not tried the chicken here, please do so! Of course, they have other foods, too.
