Went there recently for my kids car, which had a sensor that I could not replace. Brought in early on Friday morning, they ordered the part and gave me an 1100 (roughly) dollar estimate. Cam shaft sensors are not easy to get to, btw. They got the part in, got it fixed before the end of the day, and my bill was ~850 bucks. They didn't need to replace one of the sensors, and said to me, why spend the money if you don't need to. Respect that. If you get there early, you can generally wait a short time for simple stuff like oil change or junk. I just drop it off and pick it up after work. I was in the middle of preparing for a move when my check engine light went on. Freaking out, I gave them a call on a Friday and asked if I could bring my car in on Saturday. I was told they don't do appointments on Saturdays and it's first come, first served, so I brought my car in soon after they opened. They were already pretty busy by the time I got there. Instead of just having me leave my car, they asked me to wait a few minutes while they checked the codes to see if it was just a gas cap issue. Sure enough, it was, so they tightened up the cap, cleared out the computer and sent me on my way within 15 minutes of bringing my car in. They didn't even charge me for it! I usually do not write these reviews especially bad reviews because I believe that everyone could make mistakes. But this time i really have to. I came from out of town to do my oil change. While they are working on my car my, they accidentally broke my door knob which can happen. I was sad but 100% understandable since i work in the healthcare fields and learned that mistakes are sometimes unavoidable. One guy told me that they don't have the part to fix it and suggested to see if i can get a part so they will fix it for me without charge. I was going to tell them that it is fine cause it was not intentional. But!!! Another guy next to him said that I have a shitty car and plastic door knob was meant to be broken and was complaining as if i caused this. The other workers try to stop him from talking to me that way and he finally just walked off from the office. Look! I know i have an old car but you do not treat someone base off of how good/bad someone's car is. I was poor college kid but finally got a job to start my new career and hoping to get a new car in the future. I hope they change how they run their businesses. Ok this is a 5 Star based on my feeling when I picked up my car after they serviced it- Here's my story lol My alternator light had been going on and off for 3 days, stayed on for a long time on a Friday so I brought it in Got a call at 3:55 Guy on the phone said your car is ready I said really? He said Yup, it's a Good Friday for everyone but us (it was Good Friday before Easter lol) I said That was quick to change the alternator and do an oil change He said nope, we didn't do any of that. It wasn't throwing off any codes. I said what? I asked you to change the alternator because the car sensors were telling me the alternator was messing up ... he said it wasn't throwing off codes, again... I said ok but is it possible it could be working on and off? He said maybe? I said if it goes off while I'm driving will it just make the car stop working? He said maybe? Probably? I don't know? Long story short, went to pick up car and ditch that idiot, but Cecil was there and clarified that they had seen the codes and already had an estimate drawn up for a new alternator... it was a fair price so I had them do it Picked it up and the idiot I talked to on the phone on Good Friday was working up front. Redish hair, beard, total lack of appreciation for having a job, looked exasperated at someone calling to check on their car, idk his name but I'm sure he's the only one there that is like that lol He couldn't figure out how to ring me up with cash Asked me if I needed a 'piece of paper that's long and shows all the nitty gritty' aka a flipping receipt lololol That dude is a MESS and has no business working there My car was fixed spectacularly. The guy that works there is an idiot and shouldn't work at a job he clearly hates, ESPECIALLY when he is probably driving away customers every day!! Lol I'm shocked they put up with him! I have used Firehouse 4 times for 2 different vehicles. Each time they have been pleasant, honest, upfront, and provided reliable and effective service. Most recently I took our Yukon to them and they diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate of a couple hundred bucks. Once they got into the problem deeper, they determined that it was a lesser issue and fixed the problem -- and called me to tell me it would only be $90. Look, my knowledge of the inner workings of cars is less than stellar, but I do know that they easily could have just charged me for the original quote and I would have gone happily on my way. The reality is that Cecil and his staff really 'are as good as it gets', to which the 5 star rating attests. I had to go to another mechanic to get it checked out, turns out they didn't tighten the bolt enough. Went there with what I thought was an alternator problem, because of the sound. It ended up being something else, which cost me $15 to repair. They could have easily agreed with me and I would have known no better. Likely would have spent $300. I feel this place is honest, based on this one experience. I hope they do this for all there customers. There are many shops out there that the mechanics either work on commission or forced to find issues to generate income. Avoid "Auto Art Collision" located at 1015 Ellis Rd, Durham NC-- a body repair shop co-owned by the owner of Fire House and his brother Dedi Anthony Perez. Absolutely the worse car repair experience. Why did I fix the car with this unknown body shop? The owner of fire house referred me, and the body shop owner Dedi said I pay no deductible, which apparently didn't happen. Even worse, Dedi is hard to communicate and I had to pay him cash before he released my car. The absolute worst experience. At one point, I almost called the police officer for help. However, to clarify: Dedi's brother, the owner of Fire House is a good technician and easy to talk. I repair my cars with him. But since he is a co-owner of "Auto Art Collision", I just want to warn you with my terrible experience when you get referred by him for auto body work at his brother Dedi's body shop "Auto Art Collision". I authorized Fuel pump. ABS sensors would take 5 days. Went to pick up car. Charged me for Diagnostics $60.00. Fuel pump and ABS sensors. Went to 2 mechanics. They said they were original parts. Talked to Cecil, very defensive. Asked me to come next day. One customer in waiting room. He looked at my car and asked for my credit card. I said why. He whispered a refund. No explanation. Received a free estimate on recommended repairs straight from the mechanic and he addressed all of my concerns. In booking the follow-up appointment they were extremely flexible and allowed me to drop the car off the next morning and pick it up in the afternoon. I took my Jeep in to have the brakes replaced since they were squeaking and it seemed like enough mileage on her (yes, she is a girl) to warrant new pads. Not pleased with service. They told me I have a 10 am appointment. So I arranged my day for appointment. When I got there they told me it would be an hour wait. I told them I have an appointment. They told me first come first serve. I told them that over the phone you told me 10 am. They said we do this so we can make sure we stay busy. I told them I have a 10 am appointment. They told me again, flat out rude. It will be about 45 minutes to an hour. Terrible customer service. Then they told me it was the solenoid, which they also replaced without having any success again.
