I loved the dining room at Fire. It is spacious, and beautiful and also warm and inviting. I ate here with a group of 18 for a friends hen night. As for the food, the wood fired goats cheese is my favourite. Where Fire really comes into its own is in the main courses. I've eaten here a few times, and found the fish excellent, but when I sampled the Prime Aged Fillet (albeit an expensive dish) I ate one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The dessert was again, excellent, I had a raspberry souffle and it was perfect. I've only ever been there in groups of 5 or more for dinner, so I don't know how suited it is to a lunch meal for two. To be fair to fire, it was a very busy weekend with the All Ireland Hurling Championship and the Georgia Tech/BC football game but we sat down for dinner at 740pm and didn't leave until 1115pm. And that was with us encouraging faster service throughout the seating. For a goup of 8, we all ordered steaks and 2 of our 8 steaks were inedible. This is an outstanding dining experience in Dublin. From the classy lounge downstairs to a beautiful dining room, the ambience is first class. The staff was attentive but not overwhelming. The food: Possibly the best steak I've had in Dublin. I'm a grain-fed Angus kind of guy, so grass-fed Hereford isn't my favorite, but I found this steak to be very good and perfectly prepared medium-rare. The sides were very good (mushrooms and spinach gratin) and the lamb skewer appetizer was a great warm-up. I also sampled the salmon appetizer and it was very good, buttery in texture with a perfect salmon flavor. We were only provided the all-include, set dinner menu. After the limited selection was ordered we found that they had an al a carte menu. Our waiter was new and did his best to provide good service. The food was mediocre and the price was high. The atmosphere was very upscale but I expect upscale food above all. We wanted to take our desert with us but they had no provisions for a take home doggy bag. Maybe it's European customer service but once they deliver your food, they never check back until you can get their attention. It took entirely too long to eat an ordinary meal. read more

I've never seen a restaurant that describes their steaks cooked medium as their interpretation of a medium cooked steak, frankly that is ridiculous to me. A medium steak should be 145 a medium rare steak should be 135 there is no interpreting the temperature. My steak ordered medium rare was sent out black and blue at best. But the management told me this is "our medium rare. This is your medium rare? That's a sad excuse for overhead coming before customer service. Also because it was just barely cooked the steak was about as tough as the bottom of my shoe. For 400 euros I would expect much better. I think the chef needs to review a cook book and refer the manager to the section of the book that details steak temperatures. At the very least the ambiance was nice despite the tassel laden lady my fiancée witnessed upchucking in the ladies room, probably from the raw steak. read more

We went here at the recommendation of a Dublin resident to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant could be in any mall in the US. The decore was unimpressive, the service was not great and it was noisy. The food was very ordinary and of course, expensive. They did a nice job of presenting the prearranged dessert so that it looked festive. I wouldn't go back here and wouldn't suggest it. There are some nice places to eat in Dublin. One of my favorite venues in Dublin, dined here multiple times in the past few years ... every time has been outstanding for dinner however there was one below par experience for a lunch date with a party of 10 people ... apart from that lunch its been amazing. The service tends to be slow - I mean slow - particularly if the party is not large. On the most recent occasion, I had made a reservation for 7PM, but by the time we got seated it was 720PM. I actually lost my voice trying to talk to others in our group of five.We were at a round table on an elevated area on the north side of the space. The noise simply rose and washed over us. A little effort by an architect would add some baffling. Poor service. The wait staff walked past us, looked down, and moved on. Just about had to confront them to get our order placed. Since we were being hosted on the venue - "reservations are SO hard to get" - I didn't feel free to stand up and walk out. Mediocre food. We were handed the Christmas Set Menu, without reference to the ala carte options, but felt lucky to get them. Banquet food prepared in bulk, and in advance. You can sum up the entire experience at this restaurant in a single word: bland. Frankly, this place is simply not as great as they advertise themselves to be and for how much they charge. To start off, the hostess began with just a very obvious she didn't give a crap about us attitude. I would suggest service with a smile would help since we have to take that long walk to the table. She sat us close to other people when there were plenty of empty tables that she could have chosen. No thanks lady, do better next time. The food was just awful. Really, is this supposed to be one of the best in Dublin? What a poor representation of Irish Cuisine. I ordered the Wood Fire prawns as an appetizer and they came out a watery mess. Nevermind that they didn't even give me prawns, but instead regular sized shrimps! The stuffing would've PROBABLY been ok if it wasn't drowning in this disgusting thin broth. Ugh. My entree was the pork chop and it tasted like nothing. Literally nothing. It was as if they cooked the chop, soaked it in water to take out any flavor, dried it off and reheated it. Gosh, the amout of salt and pepper I had to put on it just to get a slight tickle of my tongue was incredible. It came with limp and bitter string beans. I had the plate of vegetables as the side dish and those vegetables looked like they were long dead before they cooked it. You know how vegetables get really limp when you store them for a long time in the fridge? That was exactly how the carrots and broccoli of the dish were. The asparagus had the look of a raisen and the texture of a tire. Sheesh! My only saving grace was the lemon tart dessert. That was excellent. The tart lemon complimented the sweet coconut base and the sorbet that accompanied it was delicious. That dessert is the only reason for 2 stars instead of one. My companion had the crab cakes and the prime rib. I was informed that the crab cakes were ok, nothing amazing. The prime rib was flavorless (and expensive!) and the best part of the entree was the fries! The cheese plate for dessert was also a loser. I mean, what kind of people can ruin a cheese plate?! As for drinks, I can only speak for the nonalcoholic blueberry bellini and it tastes exactly as it is described: blueberry syrup in soda water. Nothing fancy, not that tasty and not worth 5 euro. The service was ok. Not great, not terrible. Really, just your run of the mill waiter. The upstairs host did check in on us occasionally. Honestly, if you're used to bland food and like the idea of seasoning your own dishes then please by all means come to this restaurant. Otherwise, you'd best find another place. Don't believe the hype they spew about being chosen best restaurant by some other website. They may have been great at one point but it is not anymore. Great restaurant. The dining room is just beautiful with fantastic high ceilings and a lovely atmosphere. Went here with a group of 8 people and we all thought the food was excellent... which is rare with us!!! One of the top restaurants in Dublin, and we've been to most of them! Personally I ate the 6oz Fillet Steak served with Béarnaise sauce and chunky chips, was very good, to be sincere. I dont understand the point of a pre theatre menu if you bumb up the cost with additional supplements ranging from 3 to 10 euro. Lots of other restaurant such as chapter one dont do this so why so you? food quality was ok but given the price I exoected more. My hake was cooked well but smothered in cream. Crab cakes dense but not much flavour We ate around 6pm so it was quiet whicg meant it felt like eating in a barn. While others like the way it is decorated I don't but that is subjective. Paying for meal at end and machine ran out of roll so I never got my copy. He did try to reprint but after 5 min it was never going to happen Not value for money in my view. read more

My favorite restaurant in Dublin! I came here for my birthday dinner while visiting Dublin in May. From start to finish my partner and I were impressed with the fresh, local and inspired dishes. The flavors were top-notch, the presentation was good, and the wine list was good as well. The cocktail menu could use a little work. I won't be back. I have been to this restaurant a few times and decided to go for their "Sunday Roast" menu with my family. I was really really disappointed and wouldnt go again. The place was empty and lacked atmosphere. The roast beef when served up was luke warm at best and was quite tough. Although the place was nearly empty the service was poor and when I was finished I couldn't get the attention of any waiters and had to walk over to a bar to request my bill and then was walked to the entrance in order to pay! What really peeved me off was what they charged me for a gin - €11.20 WITHOUT the tonic. That is extortion and a disgrace when we never specified a brand of Gin when ordering. They pulled a fast one by serving up an extremely expense one. They also charged my 11 year old full adult price for sharing the roast! As they say " fool me once shame on you - fool me twice shame on me". They won't get a chance to fool me twice as I won't be back as they have let their standards slip too much for me to return. read more

Been here twice, both times disappointed by the food. Wine has been nice but pricey, as expected though, and the dessert was amazing. Venue itself is wonderful and staff can't be faulted, but the food and the prices of said food leave much to be desired. Went the first time as a year anniversary with my boyfriend. We knew it would be expensive, but were prepared to go all out for the dining experience we had heard about. We ordered a white Sauvignon which was lovely and priced at €32 a bottle. We were sitting at a small table on the edge of the room, which was knocked into twice by a passing waitress, before a man walked past and knocked it so that my wine glass almost fell over and splashed the table, we politely requested to be moved. Staff were very helpful about this and no complaints about service. For starters, I ordered the fish cakes and my dining partner ordered the prawns, which came highly recommended by the waiter. My fishcakes were nice, but tasted and looked exactly like M&S fishcakes, with a small side of leafy greens underneath. Now, I enjoy M&S fishcakes, but I expected a little bit better than a processed supermarket chilled section for a starter in fire. The prawns were tasty, but portion was mean and as they were still in there shells, very hard to get what little fish that was in there out. At 12.95 he expected better. The mains is where things really went awry. I got a ravioli with basil and tomato sauce, filled with cheese. The tomato sauce was greasy, had whole baby tomatoes dropped in it and full leaves of basil on top, not in the sauce itself. The portion was tiny, but I still didn't even finish the plate as the cheese in the ravioli was overpowering and heavy, especially with the greasy sauce. I think this was about 21.95, which was one of the cheaper courses as it was a veggie option. Partner got the lamb, which was greasy, fatty lamb served with some over complicatedly explained veg, which was nice but cold, and again could have done with more, priced around €31. As sides, we got cauliflower gratin and spicy fried potatoes. The saving grace of the evening was the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, which was divine. The bill was well over €120, and we came out not full, and disappointed. Went again with a work do, on a group of 6, got the set menu and was again disappointed. The rest of the party was split 50:50, two others like myself were disappointed with the lamb and pork, but all positive from the other three who got the mushroom veggie optin, the chicken like myself and the tiger prawns as a main. Probably wont be going back for a third time, which is a pity because as I said, venue and staff are all great, just the food consistently let me down. read more

I never had Bangers and Mash, it was on every menu in Ireland and this place boast that it had "Award Winning" Bangers and Mash. I tried it. It was pretty good. The sausage was not something I was accustomed to, the actual texture of the sausage was different, but it had an interesting flavor. The Mash was actually pretty good as well. If that was award winning, I don't think I will ever order Bangers and Mash again. Also, the service was not good, they made us sit too long. The atmosphere was very good, especially for Ireland. Our family of eight ate here to celebrate my mom's birthday. We made reservations and were seated in the large dining room upstairs. We had a variety of selections for appetizers and for dinner, and even tried some of the desserts. All were fantastic and expertly prepared. I had the Moroccan Lamb skewers as a starter and was pleased they weren't over cooked. Steaks, seafood, and salads were all excellent. Highly recommended for large groups, and don't be scared to bring the kids. The atmosphere is loud and friendly. Overall a great place to have an excellent meal. read more

I went to Fire some time ago for a hen party and I wasn't really gone on it. We were put at two separate round tables, which I thought was a bit odd as we'd booked as one group. The food in fairness was really good but I had issues with the waitress who kept topping up our wine glasses without asking us. At one point she filled my friend's beside me and poured the remainder of the bottle into my glass. She then proceeded to put the bottle back upside down into the bucket before saying 'another bottle ladies?'. Some may have thought she was being helpful, but I felt like she was trying to maximise sales or something. Apart from that every else was OK. The restaurant itself is really lovely if you can get past the pushy waitress! And perhaps the rest of the staff are not like that at all. That was just my experience. read more

I had a large business dinner here and rather enjoyed it. I had asked some locals and the concierge for some recommendations for a large party and everyone kept mentioning Fire. Having now dined there, I can see why. The atmosphere is very cool- you are dining in what looks like an old sanctuary of a church and diners are treated to some pretty nice décor including opulent chandeliers and detailing along the walls and ceilings. Our group was seated at a large round table which was much nicer that the usual long banquet tables that seem to be the standard for larger parties. The wine list was ample with choices from all around the world; making it easy to choose a few bottles that pleased the table. As we were a larger crowd, we had a fixed menu to choose from; which is not my favorite but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the myriad of choices and portion sizes. I ordered the salmon which was delicious with a perfectly seared crust and accompanied by some excellently prepared vegetables. Dessert was a real highlight-I got the chocolate cheesecake tart and was treated to some of creamiest cheesecake ever. It was a very nice companion to the last sips of my Bordeaux. The crowd at Fire was visitors and locals but I would say mostly locals - which gave it a nice and genuine feel. Whether you have a large or small group I would recommend Fire for a tasty dinner in a cool and hip setting. read more

Food was average, duck salad and sea trout almost tasteless - 1st time out in Dublin where I have had to call for lemon and Tabasco to get through a meal! And even turned down dessert!
