I have been going to 88's off and on since they first opened but latley I find myself making this into our regular place. I love what Trevor has done to bring something new, fun, modern, and delicious to our little quiet corner. I love how it's thrown in that plaza between the market and Big Lots like an unexpected jewel. the decor inside is dark, lots of metal work, neon lights, and abstract art. We especially love the patio with the 25 foot waterfall and we go often sometimes just to hang out and have a couple beers in the sunshine with friends. I have never gotten a bad meal here. The food is inventive and yet also traditional. It all depends on what you are in the mood for. We are happy the draght beer selection has been growing and features more microbrews than any place in the area so its nice to not have to treck out to Southbridge/Sturbridge/Worcester if you are in the mood for some good stuff (not Bud Light). the mixed drinks are a little on the pricy side for the area but really they are on average and it doesn't stop me from ordering them. Food is decent. Its just "grocery store" food that is plated nice to make you think it is better quality than it really is. Processed deli meat in the carbonara, and very salty definitely mass produced teriyaki sauce on some of the dishes. food is not as fresh as most people would want but you get what you pay for. Its good for the value so no over all complaints other than they try to make you think the food is better than it is. The presentation is better than the food itself. The place is enjoyable when you can accept it for what is is. I have been here a few times and will definitely go back, its close to my apartment so for a drink and a couple $2.88 apps on Thursday its good. read more

Until yesterday, I had no idea that a place like this existed in Dudley. For the same price as a generic sandwich or same old pizza, we had a gourmet meal in a quiet upscale restaurant. The prices were extremely reasonable and the server pleasant and efficient. The only detriment was the time it took to get our check at the end. The place looked great, nice and modern. Wait staff was great and personable. On the other hand food was average at best. I ordered the lobster bisque. It tasted pretty good, until I found the two square chunks if lobster in it. Last I checked there aren't any square parts in a lobster. So obviously it had need frozen. For my main dish I ordered the '' spicy Mongolian beef. Looked great, had practically no flavor. The only thing spicy on the dish was the siracha sauce used as a decoration squirted on the rim of the plate. And last but not least my girlfriend ordered the chicken florentine. Upon receiving it the sauce had broke. Leaving her with cheesy sauce and puddles of butter to soft thru. She sent it back and it was removed from the check. pretty nice decor, but definitely NOT an nyc-style restaurant as some reviewers suggested. that's cute, really it is. service is cheerful and prompt. however, food is pretty meh. frozen food, run-of-the-mill stuff, sauces out of cans, etc. best for drinks and apps. the one thing they do have going for them besides the decor and service is that they are the only place in this cow-town that's passable as a restaurant. read more

Great food at great prices. I've been here over 20 times. Sometimes for a night out with the wife or a family meal. The service has always been excellent especially at the bar where they serve a good cocktail. You won't be disappointed. read more

The Manager who called himself the owner, was Soooo rude. He just gave excuses for bad service, over billing us. I suggest if you go there CHECK your bill... Menu has one price and it appears the register has another and always higher. read more

I have dined here before and knew what to expect however my last time here, and I do mean last, was the lowest. Began the meal with a dirty fork, continued with being served the wrong vegetable and no "our famous" lobster sauce on my dry salmon. The server advised that I look under the salmon for the sauce - it was not there either. Finally received the famous sauce - a gooey pink tasteless addition that did nothing to enhance the (now cold) fish. The server then brought over a glass of wine which I did not order and proceeded to argue with me, insisting that I did order it, and gave me attitude as she took it away. Cool and comfortable atmosphere. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Very good variety on the menu. Sunday through Thursday special is a great deal. Ordered the lobster bisque and baked stuff shrimp. Bisque OK, had much better in other New England restaurants. The baked stuff shrimp was a joke. I make better ones at home. 5 of the smallest shrimp in a simple butter and Ritz cracker topping for 17.99!?!? Seriously? I think someone has desires to create a food empire with all the social media use, 2nd location in Webster and the catering available but said someone has their eyes on the wrong thing. Big picture and vision is easy, executing the details is not and this person is demonstrating that to all who visit. Won't be long before Gordon Ramsay shows up to tear someone a new hole. Staff on strike??? Over the last few years, I've visited this place fairly frequently. It's always been decent, nothing to go nuts over, but it was always reasonable. Yesterday, I went in with my family for lunch at around 1pm. After being seated by the hostess, we proceeded to be ignored by three servers, one of whom literally sneered at us, grabbed a check off of an empty table next to us and then ran away to the kitchen, while the two others, 1 waitress, 1 bartender stood by the bar, chatting. After 15 minutes we got up and left. Good luck with this new business model. read more

I go to nearby Nichols College and every time my family comes to bring me back to my dorm after a weekend home, we usually go here for lunch. We tend to split an order of nachos (which I highly recommend if you're a fan of appetizers or nachos) and tend to make the same mistake of trying to eat a meal on top of that. Its not a mistake in the sense that their entrées are bad, but a mistake in the sense that the size of the nacho plate is HUGE. From what I have had at Eighty Ates, they make a great hamburger and an excellent mac and cheese. On top of that Eighty Ates has a friendly and helpful staff that makes every visit enjoyable. With that in mind if you are registered on the app Belly, they have a rewards program with rewards ranging from free items off the menu, to a free meal, to gift certificates. read more

Went there tonight to check out the new menu and we were pleasantly surprised. The last time we ate there about a year ago, it was less than impressive. We started with 2 of the flatbreads as an appetizer to split between 4. The roasted butternut squash with Brussels sprouts, goat cheese, and pesto was very good. The pork belly with apple and onion jam got mixed reviews. (I loved it). Our entrees, filet medallions with Gorgonzola, wild mushroom Demi glacé, fingerling potatoes in duck fat with acorn squash were very good. The steak was medium rare as requested. The only miss was the under seasoned squash. One of our party had the duck with risotto and loved it, while the other had lobster mac n cheese, which she said was very good. Service was prompt and courteous, and the prices were reasonable. Good drink and wine menu also. I I wish I'd gotten our waitress's name, as she was great. All in all, a good experience. We'll be back to try some more of the new offerings. read more

Wait staff not uniformed about menu - brought our grandaughter for special meal - she ordered Prima Vera Pasta- asked if it was with the cream sauce - told it was - but came with oil sauce - ordered mashed potatoes with other meals - a greyish green mix - if we had known this - would not have ordered them - one meal had a long black string attached to my haddock - they did not charge for my meal. Overall, service was poor, staff siad they were not used to being this busy - but place was less then half full - staff showed little to no enthusiam for their jobs - we will not return. The food sucks! I don't know if the cook knows what a chicken lettuce wrap looks like, but he definitely doesn't know how to make it. The hotdog and french fries that my daughter ordered, sucks too, the fries was tasteless, my husbands sirloin tips, also sucks, very greasy and hard. And the popcorn they serve to everyone was right infront of the women's bathroom with no cover at all. Disgusting. I will not come back here again nor recommend to anyone.
