I had a Jim Crow experience at Firefly and it's left a very bad taste in my mouth, a taste that even the she crab soup could not erase.Tonight my friend and I enjoyed our meal from the 'colored' section near the kitchen. Although there were empty tables near the front of the restaurant, we were told that there would be a 30- 45 minute wait for an open table. However, about 20 minutes later, we were guided past the empty front tables to a table at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. In the area where we were seated, there were 4 to 5 other African American tables. It was very strange. During our meal we saw at least one more brown group guided past empty front tables to what my friend and I started calling the colored section. Perhaps the staff thought that we were all related because we had matching skin colors. Or perhaps they read a study that stated that we enjoy views of stainless steel kitchen sinks when we dine. Or maybe this was 'blacks to the back night' , part of some marketing campaign to draw folks who are nostalgic about the America that use to be. The staff was polite enough. The food was okay. But it was disconcerting to see that most of the brown people were seated in the same section, away from the front near the kitchen. I thought about the movie The Help, and knew that I had to share my experience. I thought things had changed down here. read more

Excellent restaurant overall. Our group of 4 adults ate at Firefly on our last night in town. It was excellent! Starting with the bread and 3 tasting sauces, we knew we were in for an excellent meal. The Seasonal Sangria was agreed to be one of the best we've ever had and my husband raved about the perfectly made "Italian old fashioned". My parents, who have tried many varieties of She Crab Soup over the years, felt that Firefly's recipe was excellent. For the entrees, we all cleaned our plates completely. I had the rack of lamb, which was cooked to perfection. Other orders included the Stuffed Crust Filet Mignon, Grouper and Bacon wrapped shrimp over grits. Such great recipes that we truly truly enjoyed. Our server was very attentive and our food was served quickly. No complaints at all about Firefly, we will be talking about that excellent meal for a few months! We would hands down return to Firefly. read more

Very good & flexible. I'm vegan and although they didn't list anything on the menu they made a delicious dish for me.

My compliments to the chef. He has returned the menu to what made Firefly our favorite. The food is so perfectly seasoned that it is obvious that there is a lot a tasting during the cooking process. The seared tuna on the sunset dinner menu is everything it used to be with a perfect sauce of soy and lime. The she crab soup, of course, is still the star. Great value for the money. I had the seared tuna, my husband had the cajun pasta and our daughter the salmon and we all raved about our dinner. Not to mention that this place still makes the best dirty martini on the beach. Want to try to return one more time before we have to head north for the summer. read more

I'm so glad I found this place on yelp. It was the perfect date night! You would never know from outside b/c its located in an old strip mall. But the inside is very nice. There's an over-sized lounge area which you can actually eat in on TV trays if you choose. Or you can wait for a table. We called at 6:30pm and were able to get reservations for 8pm. Th eggplant pancakes were kind of like eggplant Parmesan. The steak and lobster was delicious, but if I went again I think I would stick to the seafood. My husband had the scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were massive, but the scallops were the star of the show as they melted in your mouth. I was disappointed in the presentation of the creme brulee, I expected homemade creme fraiche and lots of berries. what I got was a big thing of creme brulee with 2 strawberries cut in half, but it did taste good & had an extra crunchy layer. Overall it was amazing. LOTS of drink selections, great service, great food and convenient location. Not a place for kids, but super casual attire is completely acceptable. read more

Absolutely a must dine in PCB. My wife and I go to the place any time we are in town. So for starters the atmosphere is amazing. Simply put it's a dining room with private rooms off to side. There is a tree in the middle with Christmas lights on it year round. Makes it nice for everyone. Food is amazing. Have tried most things on the menu from the pastas to the steaks. Kids love the pizza and the kids menu makes for even families have no problem getting a whole family in there. A must is she-crab soup. Also the Cajun pasta is pretty awesome. Hit them up for their specials and it's a great deal! read more

Unique. Divine. Exquisite. We were on Spring Break 2017 and wanted to experience a restaurant which we could rave about. We definitely have to put our feet in our mouths. Dave, the owner, was standing outside and we were weighing our options between Dee's Hang Out, Saltwater Grill and Firefly. At the time we had no idea Dave was the owner. We were just looking for a local to get their opinion on the three Dave jokingly said, 'If I'm lying, I'm buying'! You will not go wrong with Firefly. You, two gorgeous beautiful women, belong in the ambiance in Firefly. Step inside Dee's Hang Out and then step inside Firefly. The difference is immediately noticeable. Now with Saltwater Grill, he stated you will get a different experience but it isn't Firefly. After a few more laughs and Trip Advisor review discussion, we decided to park and go inside Firefly. We were immediately seated near the tree near the back. A Beautiful little addition that tree - giant tree centerpiece adorned with a string of lights. Lance was our waiter. Lance was very polite, patience in going over the menu and specials. Able to answer any questions and ensure our dining experience was the most enjoyable. The drink recommendations, Firefly [sweet] and Pineapple Cosmo [tart] were a huge hit. I love sweet so Firefly was right up my alley! Loved it! She Crap Soup was delicious! I ordered the Crab Cakes it comes with two sides: mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Had I known about the sides, I would switch out the green beans for asparagus. Nevertheless, the meal was phenomenal! Very enjoyable and everyone was very nice - hostess, waiter, manager and owner! Everyone was engaging, welcoming and inviting. Once we completed our meal, we sat in the library and had another cocktail while watching basketball on the big screen television. Dave stopped by our table to confirm we were not disappointed and we were not. We were able to find out Dave's background, why the restaurant is set-up like it is and why he is in the restaurant business. We continue the conversation in the library as well. I was so disappointed with my birthday meal. It was our third time to eat at Firefly, and I was excited. We vacation in PCB almost every year. Unfortunately, we won't be back to firefly this year on vacation. The green beans with my crab cakes were cooked all differently, some were ok, several were shriveled and gross, almost like they were from the day before. crab cakes were salty. the vent above us was filthy, dirty... we should have left when i saw that. lesson learned. service was meh. read more

We had dinner at Firefly last might for my grandson's 16th birthday. This is the first review I have ever written a review about any place, but I felt it was needed. Reservation was at 6:30 and we did not leave Firefly until 10:00. Orders were mixed up; soup that was ordered as a meal came out with the sushi, which we waited forever for! The food is good, but having to sit at a table three and one-half hours to have a meal is not good. Not for the customer nor the establishment. I felt there was an extremely high level of disorganization during the entire evening. I know this is a nicer place and you don't expect the tables to turn like a diner, but come on people. I could not wait to get out of the place. read more

This place is a bit pricey, but it was totally worth it! The atmoshpere is one of the coolest I've ever experienced in a restaurant. From the tree growing in the middle of the dinning room, to the comfortable, dark, cozy lounge area, just awesome! The food was on point, and service was absolutley amazing. Incredible. Loved the romantic yet comfortable ambiance. Started with handcrafted cocktails, and a sushi roll suggested by our amazing server Nick. Excellent. He talked us through the menu, and we ended up ordering off the "sunset menu," which features entrees at lower prices for happy hour. I got the beef medallions and she crab soup, and savored every bite. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sides were delicious. The richness of the soup almost knocked me out of my seat. The staff is well-trained, and operates like a finely-tuned machine. We were treated with respect and never felt rushed. Nick was very knowledgeable of the menu, and friendly, without hovering. We will definitely be dining at Firefly again next time we're in PCB. My mouth waters just thinking about it. read more

Great restaurant with quality food. This is a high end restaurant in a low end location. Who cares anyway as long as the food is great. Service was ok. We were served by one main waiter and three-four other waiters. We felt that many of the young waiters were not experienced/knowledgeable which is a shame for a restaurant in this class. The crab soup appetizer is like heaven on earth in your mouth. The flaky little biscuit they have in the middle sucks it up and delivers a killer combination. When they brought me my main dish I told them just to take it back and bring me another crab soup. However I am glad that they did not. Went for dinner to celebrate my sister's 20th wedding anniversary. There were 6 of us. The service was not good. By that we were seated at 5:30 and it was 6:40 before anything hit the table. The apps were cold. Not semi warm- cold like they had been sitting for an hour. The soups and salads came next. All three that had ordered the crab soup- cold with a film of I am not sure what on top. We complained. Our waiter said it was the kitchen, they were backed up. Well it is not the kitchen's fault when a server brings out cold food. It was his fault. By the way the bus boys brought all the food to our table. The server NEVER served us anything. The waiter also said he had adjusted the bill. We I got the bill we were actually overcharged by about $20. I did not leave much of a tip. read more

Not a great experience, very bad service. Had to keep asking for menu's...drinks, sushi, wine, food are all on different menu's. After finally getting our server to bring all the menu's the server was very rude when we asked for a "vegetarian" sushi roll and said the restaurant refuses to make any substitutions. The server finally agreed to let us order one of the sushi rolls but leave off the fish, however he continued to actually make fun of the "vegetarian roll" throughout the meal. It was really weird and very inappropriate. Otherwise, the ambiance was nice and other meat, fish and pizza dishes we ordered were just okay. Not any better than eating at TGI Fridays and VERY BAD service. read more

We ordered the boar shank and red snapper. While waiting for our entrees we received our wine and bread, and at that point knew we had made the best choice for the evening. The entree were the best tasting meals we have had in a long time. We decided not to finish them even though it was hard not to so we could try the deserts. My boyfriend & I have never been any place where EVERYTHING felt like heaven melting in our mouths. Ok... We weren't too fond of the garlic spread that was served with the bread & the tomato spread was just ok, but that was the only flaw. The apricot spread was to die for but still felt light. The she crab soup is so smooth, but the crab is really grounded down in the soup so don't expect chunks. We ordered the grouper that was featured at the Olympics & the red snapper. Good God! We expected it to be like other fine dining where the portion was small but nope! A full plate of happy happy joy joy in our mouths. The service was also impeccable. The homemade cheesecake & creme brûlée were the best we ever had, & my man doesn't even like creme brûlée! Seriously if we were billionaires, we would hire the chef for ourselves. The decor & ambiance is so relaxing, kinda takes you away from the ocean feel & back to land with a gorgeous lit-up centerpiece tree. It felt like pixie dust was majestifying our food, if that is even a word. The only sad thing is that we could only eat here once; wish we could try EVERYTHING on the menu! read more

On vacation with the family, and husband wanted to treat us to one of the best restaurants in PCB. This is about the only fine dining restaurant in town. We read the reviews--good and bad, not sure what our experience would be. Wasn't concerned about the food so much as the service. We went for the early bird dinner special and were seated in the main dining room with the tree. Lovely space. Our waitress, Lauren was personable, attentive, and helpful. Dinner was delicious. We ordered the two appetizers on the early bird menu--escargot and fried calamari. Then we all opted for the She-crab soup, which was creamy, rich and a bit on the salty side. For our entrees, we had the seafood pasta, beef tenderloin, salmon, and the seared tuna. The pasta and salad that came with my tuna were overly salty. Overall, we had a pleasant night out, the food was good but not amazing. (The food would have been better if it hadn't been SO salty.) The service was outstanding. read more
