Amazing experience at Ambrosia! We went to celebrate my birthday and everything was fantastic from start to finish. The service was outstanding -- our waiter, Tommy, explained everything in detail and clearly knew the menu, wine list, and dishes inside and out. He was attentive throughout the whole dinner. The food was incredible. We started with the fried steak rolls, which were delicious, along with the steak -- so tender and flavorful -- the wagyu bread, and the butcher's bacon rack -- everything was amazing. For our main course, we shared the signature filet, and Tommy kindly offered to cut it in half for us. We paired it with the mushrooms as a side, which were also delicious. By dessert we were already so full, but we ordered one anyway and we're so glad we did -- the banana bread cake was incredible. I went here Friday night for happy hour. What a fantastic find. Every nice upscale decor. We shared the ceviche, oysters, BBQ shrimp and the pineapple bread. They were all good. The flavor of the sauce on the BBQ shrimp was amazing. The only disappointing thing was the pineapple bread. It was very fresh and soft, but we all agreed it was missing something. Then we ordered dinner. There was a smash burger with beef tallow tots, a she-crab soup, tuna tartar and seared snapper over coconut rice. I had the snapper - it was fantastic. Even though our reservation was for 4:30pm, by the time we departed the restaurant at 6:15, the place was filled with diners yet still the atmosphere was not hectic or loud. Somehow they maintain that serene but not too stiff environment. I'd say, it was very clear to me that all the staff here is dedicated to serving others and to excellence. When you pair that with a gifted chef, sous chef, and focused kitchen staff who are dedicated, you get a 5-star restaurant. We had the absolute BEST experiences of our trip at this restaurant. We had such a good experience the first time we came, that we visited twice on our 4 day trip. Our server Jack was the kindest human being ever, and made us feel so comfortable about the handling of my husband's food allergies (gluten, dairy, etc.). He was so personable and professional, and has a ton of experience in the food industry himself. We trusted him completely, which is rare. Now on to the food, the first night I got the soft shelled crab, which was delicious. It was very lemon forward and a generous portion. My first time ever having a dish of the sort and I was pleasantly surprised. The other night, I got the Scallops and truffle risotto, which was amazing as well, but the real star was the risotto. It was so good, I would recommend getting it as an individual side with anything. We also received the crème brûlée for our anniversary, which was great as well. My husband had the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, and elk over the course of his 2 dinners. Both were the best meals of his trip. The ambience of this place was also super nice, and there was plenty of parking since it was near a shopping center. All of the wait staff were extremely professional and seemed to enjoy working together. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there. The Wagyu Bread-Seared Snake River Farms Wagyu, Brioch, Cured Egg Yolk, Roasted Garlic Aioli, Truffle was a unique way to start the meal. For my main, I went for the special Steak Flight - Petite Filet, Boursin Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Bordelaise - Elk Chop, Rahlua Glaze, Truffled Risotto - Wagyu Rib Cap, Hen of the Woods Mushroom, Wagyu Butter with a side of Wagyu Tallow Fried Tots. Oddly, the only somewhat disappointing part of the flight was the wagyu rib cap. It is not that it was bad, I just was expecting more from it. Everything else was outstanding. It had been a few months since our last visit, so I decided to trust all of Stefen's recommendations--and he did not disappoint. We started with the prime rolls for an appetizer, and for our entrees my wife had the snapper while I went with the BBQ shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious. The difference in flavor is subtle and you're paying for the presentation. It comes with scissors and tongs to serve. (About now, if the management is reading this they're saying, "Oh, no! They're on to us!) The bread service again is ok - not special. If you want a sweet treat before your meal then this is it - think breakfast roll. The crab cake is just ok. Do not waste your money. It's overly buttery (greasy) and they'll tell you it's one of the best crab cakes you'll ever have - it is NOT. It's also small for $38. That's the appetizer folks! Not worth it. The Caesar salad dressing's flavor was a bit like "The Emperor's New Clothes." They will tell you it's there, but you can't actually confirm its presence. The BBQ Shrimp had a very strong shrimpy flavor. Overly so. We are from southern Louisiana - we do know seafood. It's what we grew up on all of our lives. The lobster bisque has a nice flavor, but very thin - more like a soup than a bisque. The Taste of 30A was fine. It's a good way to try different dishes. The flounder was dry - definitely overcooked. We didn't say anything because the service was so painfully slow that we didn't want to mess with what little flow they had. The petite filet was typical - not special. Absolutely unacceptable treatment of families with young children. Our experience at Ambrosia was extremely disappointing. We came as a family with our 6-year-old and our 1 1/2-year-old daughter. While waiting for our food, our toddler became bored and screamed a few times -- she is ONE AND A HALF YEARS OLD. She is a baby. Babies make noise. Instead of showing even a little understanding, the manager came to our table and told us to do something about the baby because other customers were complaining. Seriously? If a restaurant does not have the patience or understanding to deal with a baby occasionally making noise, then perhaps it should clearly advertise that families with young children are not welcome. We were so uncomfortable with the way we were treated that we simply got up and left. We didn't cause a scene, we didn't argue, and we didn't bother anyone. We took our children and left. A family spending money at a restaurant should not be made to feel embarrassed or unwelcome because their 1 1/2-year-old gets bored while waiting for food. There are plenty of restaurants that understand what having children means and treat families with respect. Unfortunately, Ambrosia made it very clear that we were not welcome. From the hosts to our waitress- Teraine, the service was top tier and made the restaurant feel like a true fine dining experience. Starters- pineapple rolls + angel eggs: The pineapple sweet rolls are a must! The sweetness of the bread is truly addicting. The angel eggs were a fun play on deviled eggs. The bacon on top is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. My husband and I then shared the tour of 30A. Of the three dishes you get to sample, the snapper was my favorite. Each dish comes over a unique side featuring either coconut rice, gnocchi or risotto. Each dish was also unique and packed with flavor. It gave us such a good sample of the quality of foods at Ambrosia and the local seafood. We got Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes as our sides. Sides are big enough to share tapas style. Both were cooked perfectly and the quality was outstanding. The only thing I would change is, I wish we would have gotten plain mashed potatoes rather than the loaded. It took a long time to come... but it helped. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. My son ordered elk well done. That's his preference. He sent it back to the kitchen twice and it never got cooked well. This restaurant is aptly named, as it delivered one of the best dining experiences I've had. Love the atmosphere, classic steakhouse feel where you're welcomed at the front door, leave the Florida sun behind for a bit, and move into the subtly energetic bar or the peacefully bustling dining area. Or hit both. Food, cocktails, and wine selection are outstanding. We started with the angel eggs--I do not like deviled eggs, but these beauties changed my mind temporarily (and not just the name change), as the egg and crispy shrimp made for incredible bites. The Hawaiian bread starter was fluffy and sweet. I tried the taste of 30-A (selection of three fish entrees): it was hard to choose a winner (snapper by a hair over the flounder), and the portions were quite generous (given the price compared to the full individual dishes, I honestly figured we'd see little bite-sized portions, but when you add on apps, delicious sides, and a bread pudding dessert that I'm still thinking about, each one was nearly enough for a meal!). There was also an elk special when we were there that needs to make the main menu, as it was beautifully cooked, tender beyond belief, and had that perfect gaminess (in a good way) of elk without the need for a ton of adornment. One comment on the cocktails worth adding: the Foster Old Fashioned was was a unique and delicious spin on the classic cocktail (using a rum base instead of bourbon, and it really was like drinking a less sweet bananas foster)--very much worth a try. Once seated, besides the server, there is a cadre of additional staff who are consistently in contact to make sure the diner's every need is met. I complemented the excellent service to our server who then retrieved the General Manager to further engage. When I mentioned that I was an executive coach and corporate trainer, he retrieved not just one, but two books for me that form the foundation of the Ambrosia team's approach to service. My wife and I tried Ambrosia for the first time tonight. My wife had the taste of 30A seafood flight. I had a dozen raw oysters and the diver scallops with risotto. Both were 5 stars. Not that we were looking but we couldn't find anything less than perfect with our meals. Service was exceptional. Lynn exceeded our expectations. While staying in Rosemary Beach, one Saturday night we ventured a bit inland looking for a nice steak dinner. Reserved ahead, though it wasn't particularly busy. Ambrosia is clearly new, and very attractive. There was parking nearby, but it was odd, we had to either walk on the street or through landscaping to get between car and restaurant. Wife loved her dirty martini with No 3 gin. I had the sazerac and it was also quite nice. Started with angel eggs, at the wait persons recommendation. Very crunchy large shrimp on top of deviled eggs. It looked like pick up food, but was actually best to tackle with fork and knife. The crunch of the shrimp makes the dish. The lobster bisque was rich and tasty, with generous perfect little chunks of lobster. Tried the zabuton steak. It was very thin, I'd ordered medium rare, so it was just given a quick sear. It was described as "immensely" marbled, and indeed it was so rich I found it off putting and didn't finish. I'm someone who really enjoys wagyu, and prefers rich specialty cuts like ribeye caps, so it's saying a lot when I think it's too rich. Wife liked her filet, and I'd stick with a ribeye next time. Side of loaded mashed potato was good and cheesy. Shishitos were simply sauteed, a little overcooked, but ok. Sides are easily large enough for a table of 4. Wait staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I expect we'll return on our next Rosemary Beach visit. Probably even have a better dinner now knowing a bit more of what to expect. read more
