They used to make a great homemade 1/2 lb burger. Ordered yesterday and I got a frozen patty. Something changed in the last few months.

We've been ordering cheesesteaks from this place for the past year and they've been DYNAMITE. I love the chicken one because I can pretend it's "healthier!" Today, our experience was less than stellar. I always select "no green pepper" because I'm not a big fan of them. This time was no different, but when I opened my box, my sandwich was overflowing with green peppers. When I called to report the error, the girl who answered the phone was clearly annoyed by my call, and told me "my cook says he didn't put green peppers in." I was a bit put off by this, but instead of trying to argue about whether or not there were green peppers in my food, I asked if they could just send me a new sandwich, and was told to go through Grubhub. I assume this is policy, which is fine, but then she hung up on me before I could say anything else. So I go back through the app and reorder, again selecting "no green pepper." I called to confirm that my sandwich would NOT have green pepper, and to say that my call was not well-received would be an understatement. I say I'm just trying to make sure the peppers are not on there this time. She goes "yep, no green pepper," and then hangs up before I can say anything else. We are considering looking for a new cheesesteak place, or finding a recipe to make them at home. See attached photo of a sandwich that the cook declared to be free of green peppers. read more

I ordered this through Uber eats. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries, a gyro with fries, a Philly cheese steak with fries and an Italian beef with fries. I also ordered four sodas. The food was lukewarm but that's okay I know I ordered it through Uber eats and it takes a while to get here so we'll account for that. But we all thought the food was bland, not just bland but tasteless. The meat was dry The fries were bland The catch of tasted weird and the sandwiches were made sloppy. I do not recommend this place any place with this place for any of these foods. read more

Roosevelt Rd alone is home to power players like Turano Bread company, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King and more. However a family mom and pop business is much more my style. Firehouse Grill is Chicago style grub. Burgers, Gyros, Hot Dogs and Wings to name a few. I will tell you what though, Firehouse has some pretty tasty 1lb. Beef short ribs off the char-broiler. Fire cooked, flipped and smothered in the sauce. The fellas at Firehouse stand out the most in my opinion for their attention to detail. Management greets you properly then takes your order. Its a definite family vibe and that's important when spending your hard earn dollar. On side note do not leave without trying the Nachos with grilled chicken. Ordered a gyro plate and gyro with fries. Gyro plate came with no gyro sauce -- bummer. Tomatoes were stringy and past their prime. The pita had not been warmed, so it tore when I grabbed to take a bite multiple times. Fries were soggy and bland. Gyro meat was decent and ample. Above-average portion size. I was in charge of picking up chicken for my father in law's birthday party, and when the foil was pulled off of the chicken I was embarrassed. This chicken looked as if it was fried at least three times that day. It was dry and hard. People complained that it was cutting into their gums. You all should be ashamed. I was pretty excited to find another option close to my work in Cicero, IL. this is a solid little place with all your Chicago basics: burgers, fries, wings, gyros. I ordered a Chicago style hot dog and fries and was really happy with my order. The guys behind the counter were friendly and the service was fast. A long time customer, my order tonight was terrible. The food turned up late, the order incorrect, we ended up throwing it out. The bbq base gluten free pizza rurned up as a tomato base, if they got the order wrong how confident can we be it's actually gluten free, not worth the risk for a celiac. The XL dog that I'd ordered before is now half the size and the bun both hard and chewy like it had been microwaved yet it was cold. The firehouse fries were ice cold and dry and even being smothered in ranch dressing couldn't hide their nastiness. It all went in the garbage. The worst part was when I called to complain. Ther first offered to send out another order then called back to say they wouldn't and apologised. Not good enough. I'm not ordering again I suggest you avoid this place at all cost. This place obviously does not care about customer service. They left me on hold for almost 10 mins, and then when they finally picked up the line told me they were closed and she wasn't taking orders. It was 30 mins before they closed. They could have had the courtesy to not leave me on hold. Point is make sure you don't call if you want to eat and it's not a convenient time for the cashier otherwise you're going to stay hungry. read more

Being from NJ, I am a fan of the Philly Cheesesteak. This place delivers (uses American Cheese, which I prefer, instead of Cheeze Whiz). The sandwich was stuffed with shaved steak, fried with mushrooms, onions and peppers. The fries were superior, the lemonade refreshing, and the pound cake was the best I ever had. read more

I place an order for delivery at 3:36pm today but didn't receive my order until 5:10pm. I don't like for them to use people that doesn't know how to find my place because they have before. The food from this restaurant is usually pretty good. The service on the other hand leaves a little to be desired. I ordered a couple of burgers and pizza puffs for delivery and it took almost 2 hours. The fries were on the verge of being cold. When I handed the delivery driver my cash he asked if I had something smaller than a $20 because he had just changed a $100 and had 8 more deliveries to make. When I said no he just shoved the bag into my hand. My order was less than $30 and I gave him 2 $20 bills. I didn't want to give him a tip after that, but all he had was 10 singles so I took them. Delivery took 2 hours. Fries were cold and stale. Burger was burnt and soggy. Never again.

I've passed this place on my way home several times, but never thought to go inside. This day I was craving a good juicy burger. When I pulled into the lot, I saw this guy outside in a tank top talking on the phone. I didn't think much of it, he just stood out because the restaurant and that side of the parking lot was empty as it was 3pm. I walked in and ordered a texas burger with fries and a watermelon lemonade. I was told it would be a 10min wait, so I decided to sit in my car with the AC and the radio. I walk back in and guess who's in the kitchen? Tank top guy! Now I know this place isn't a Michelin star rated restaurant, but I think being in the kitchen with no sleeves is frowned upon everywhere. Not to mention he was literally just outside on the phone. Yuck. He was not actually preparing my food, just in the kitchen talking and maybe doing prep so I decided not to complain. Plus I was super hungry and could not wait to bite into my bbq burger with onion rings and the works. Boy was I disappointed when I got home. The burger was supposed to have bbq sauce. It tasted like mild sauce and even then, it only had a pinch on it. The onion rings were very small and tasted like something from burger king. The fries were hot and crisp, but only because they seemed to have been sent to the fryer twice. They tasted old. The watermelon lemonade slush was way too sweet and artificial. It was like a 7/11 icee. I will save my money next time. 2 stars because the guy who took my order and the cook were super nice. read more

I've ordered from FG several times and every time the food is great! And still really warm to hot on arrival! I use Uber Eats to order, and tonight, I misread a menu item and since it was my mistake, I just sucked it up and reordered from FG, a different menu item (this time I read it completely:) They recognized my name on the order and knew about the mixup, so they didn't charge me for the reorder! Even though I was willing to pay for my mistake, it was so cool that they didn't make me. Great food and obviously great management and staff. read more

I have to say the delivery is fast. The food is ok. Ordered the beef/sausage combo with Mozz cheese and the wife had a beef with cheese. The beef was dry, my sausage was burned and so little cheese you could not tell it was there. We also had the pizza puff w/ fries and the mozz sticks w/ fries. The fries were soggy and squashed under the puff and the sticks were at the botom of the bag so they were smushed and her fries were also squashed and soggy. read more
