Yum! They have a variety of hotdogs but I got their chicago dog. A little pricey for hotdogs but worth trying for the experience.

BLUF: Place to come once and say you did. Food (3/5): I'm not even sure what I ate. Pickles on pickles on pickles. The neon leprechaun cum on my dog & pickles was... gross. I couldn't finish mine. The fries were amazing. The other dogs we got were delicious. My stomach did NOT agree with me after, but it was worth it. Service (5/5): Quick & limited interaction. You can order with a human or just use their kiosk. The kiosk was easy, had photos, and made it easy to customize items. Ambiance (5/5): Hole-in-the-wall place. Graffiti on the walls and sticky tables. It's your typical dive-eatery. No parking.

    Its Not a Corn Dawg

Front desk at our hotel recommended this place and it was closer to try this than Portillo's. Small space with ordering at the counter in the back or a kiosk for self order. Only a few 4 foot person tables and some high top for 2. No bathroom. Closest one is Pete's around the corner at the end of the next block. 5/5 bucket of fries w/cheese. The fries were soft and super flavorful. Not crispy if that's your kind of thing. The nacho cheese was on the side and warm and tasty. They gave us 2 containers for one order which i appreciated. 5/5 it's not a corn dawg with cotija cheese and corn. My fave one. Very flavorful. The hot dog itself was also delicious. 4/5 Chicago dawg - got the small size which was perfect since we sampled so much. 4/5 hot chile cheddar dawg - super cheesy and added onions. My second fav. 4.5/5 Italian beef - wet with hot jardiane (sp). The peppers were spicy but really good. It's a pretty large serving. 5/5 caramel salty pretzel shake - the pretzel bits were a perfect salty mix. Pricing was very reasonable! I'd come back again for the not your corn dawg and shake!

We had to get our Chicago Dogs while in Chicago, and Devil Dawgs in Printers Row presented itself. (Feb 2026) We were lucky during early afternoon on a Saturday (Feb 2026) to get in before a mid-afternoon rush. We got our orders in at the register, and only had a few minutes wait. The dogs are Official Vienna Beef, of course. They use the longer narrower dogs, not the plumper ones. The toppings are traditional: genuine sport peppers, genuine neon relish, dill pickle spears, chopped onions, fresh tomatoes, celery salt. It's a great bright tart juicy savory combination of crunchy flavors. Note: The buns had no poppy seeds. The fries were hot and tender and added rich flavors. Devil Dawgs has a great divey look. The staff are great. The food is great. This place is a treasure.

Fantastic! I thought I was Team Portillo's but I have officially converted to Team Devil Dawgs! Wow!!! Sooooooo good! I had the Big Chicago dog and it was bursting with flavor. The high quality Vienna beef dog had the nice snap I was looking for. All the seasonings and toppings blended together perfectly. Each bite was an explosion of fun! Also, the vibe here is really cool, and feels like a party. The decor is colorful, vibrant, and funny. Good music playing too. I love a place with personality. Lots of amusing hot dog art, and even some art on the ceiling. All of the tables were very clean. Excellent and fast service. I also appreciate that they have easy kiosks to order from. This is a cashless place. A wide variety of menu items. In addition to hot dogs, they have burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, cheese curds, vegan options and more. I gotta try a milkshake next time. I'll definitely be back!

Was getting lunch before heading to the airport. I got there right at 12pm on a Thursday. Ordered/paid on the kiosk. I got my food in about 5min. It wasn't super busy when I walked in but a few mins later it started getting packed while I sat and ate. So maybe go in BEFORE 12:05pm haha. Devil Dawgs hit the spot! I got the regular sized Chicago dawg and fries with a side of cheese sauce. The hotdog was pretty good, I've never had one Chicago style before. The fries were fresh, hand cut, hot and salty! All this plus a fountain drink +tax&tip came out to $18.27.

Continuing alphabet series representing 2021 is D is for Devil Dawgs. In September 2021, I was on a Chicago vacation. After Chicago architecture boat tour and before seeing the White Sox, I met up with my friend who arrived a day later than I did. We went to an early dinner before White Sox at Devil Dawgs as getting a Chicago hot dog is an iconic thing to do plus eating at White Sox would be a ripoff. Devil Dawgs has a wide variety of hot dogs with various flavors. For me, I generally eat hot dogs plain. I don't like ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, etc. I do like a chili dog with or without cheese. Restaurant was a bit of a dive, but the hot dog was good. I messed up on the order as none of the hot dogs were exactly what I wanted, but I realized I messed up on the order. They didn't refund; so I just bought another hot dog that I had intended on getting. I ate the one I messed up on, but I enjoyed in spite of having to pick off onions or whatever was the case. Staff was cordial but not overly friendly either. Overall, a pretty good hot dog, but I'm content with a plain hot dog.

Came during my last visit to Chicago and it was so good! I had a classic Chicago dog and service was great and super fast. I love all of the toppings in a Chicago dog and it was the perfect snack to either eat and enjoy the scenery of downtown or take along to go.

Very good Chicago style hot dog, I feel like it was, overpriced for being so small but it was really good.

My favorite meal of my Chicago trip! Sorry I tried another pizza on my last day in town instead of returning to Devil Dawgs! Very casual place, long and narrow. Not a whole lot of seating but I enjoyed eating in; I even got into a conversation with my neighbors about pickles. Speaking of pickles, you get a nice big spear on the dog, along with all the other Chicago stuff. Fries also were excellent and so was the chocolate-banana-malt shake! I know it's not health food but you gotta try it once in awhile. (Guess I'm lucky I don't live in Chicago or I'd be hitting Devil Dawgs way too often...)

Can't come to Chicago and not grab a hot dog- so we stopped in for a quick bite. It's a small location with a handful of tables. Cashless transactions with self serve kiosks for ordering makes it easy if you're looking for a quick in and out meal. No public restrooms - which is kinda odd. We ordered a Chicago dawg, a Polish sausage and cheese fries and we were not disappointed.

My friends and I decided that our last bite in Chicago had to be a Chicago-style hot dog. We decided to go to Devil Dawgs because it was within walking distance and a spot none of us had tried. The restaurant has sufficient seating, but it is quite narrow, so I suggest getting takeout if you are not a fan of tight, potentially crowded places. We placed our orders at a kiosk near the entrance, which was easy to use and had plenty of pictures. I can't rate the service since my friend was the one who primarily interacted with the staff, but I will say they were super efficient, and our food came out pretty quickly. FOOD: Big Chicago Dawg (4.55/5) - Opted for this one over a 'regular' Chicago dog because we were interested in the jumbo spicy Vienna sausage. It came with the toppings that are traditionally on a Chicago-style dog: tomatoes, a pickle spear, peppers, mustard, white onions, and neon green relish. Surprisingly, it did not come with a poppy seed bun, which I thought was a characteristic of a Chicago-style hot dog. I did slightly enjoy this one more than the jumbo hot dog I got at Portillo's (probably due to its sausage being better), but this one was considerably pricier. Icelandic Dawg (3.75/5) - Got this because my coworker was raving about the hot dogs he had in Iceland. I have no idea what a hot dog in Iceland entails, but this one had a ton of crispy onions and shallots on top. While I'm not sure what the sauce it had was, it tasted like honey mustard and mayo mixed together. To me, this hot dog was milder in flavor and lacked depth compared to the Big Chicago Dawg... maybe I am just a really big fan of pickles and yellow mustard. Tater Tots (4/5) - Tasted like most tater tots I encountered. Who doesn't like a compact fried potato cylinder? Nicely salted and crispy, but nothing out of the ordinary. Your standard good tater tot. TLDR// Solid place to get a Chicago-style hot dog from my perspective (a tourist). The spot is a little narrow, but that's not a big deal. I would come back for yummy food and a general good time.

If you have not tried Chilangos, I'm here to tell you that you're absolutely missing out! I also ordered the steak taco and the shrimp taco. Both of those were 10/10 (per usual) but i HAD to show you guys how beautiful this bowl was! On top of looking amazing, it tastes amazing as well. You have your choice of protein and that's it and tbh, I love that! It automatically comes with cheese, rice, sour cream, pico de gallo, pinto beans and romaine lettuce. When I tell you that you don't need any sauce or added spice to this! It's so delicious! The portion is insane. I can get through maybe a 1/4 of it and I have to save the rest. One thing I love about this bowl is that the rice is seasoned. It may even be yellow rice and that makes it even better! Every bite is the perfect bite because you get a little bit of everything! Thank you so much Chilango! You have never ever disappointed me and the way you provide consistency needs to be studied! I appreciate you guy so much! It was a beautiful meal and ofc, I'll be back for more!

I tried the BBQ shaker fries, the Kung pao mcchicken, and the mango curry mcwrap. The fries taste like lays BBQ chips flavor. It's quite nice but doesn't feel like a wow. The Kung pao mcchicken was really good. It's an elevated regular mcchicken with crissed crossed buns, 2 crispy peppered chicken patties, a sweet yet Peppery aioli-like dressing, and lettuce. I really enjoyed this burger. The mcwrap was really interesting. The mango curry was a sweet sauce that had a hint of curry spice, like a salad dressing-way. The crispy chicken, cool cucumber slices, and the sauce really brought them together. I enjoyed it for the novelty but it's not really filling unfortunately and at that price point. If you dine in, they bring the food to you and if you didn't order a beverage, they will automatically bring a cup with water. All the tables have wireless charging. The restrooms were spacious and clean! Highly recommend to come to try the global menu.

It has that classic late night comfort food vibe and feels like one of those staple spots you have to try at least once. First night I ordered a polish hot dog with everything on it and a fish sandwich w/ extra grilled onions. Super cool that your order comes with fries and I added a cheese cup both times. In my opinion the fries were mid the first go around, but second time they were better. Definitely tasted better dipped in cheese. They were kinda airy in texture, if that makes sense. Polish hot dog was around a 6.5-7/10 for me. It did taste better warmed up the next day. What I was most obsessed with was the double cheeseburger and fish sandwich! both were easily a 10/10. Super good prices and worth the money. Also, the chile peppers were sooo bomb and hotter than I expected ! I wanted to eat them all, but they were packing some serious heat! The lemon Italian ice is where it's at, make sure to order one! You can also mix it with strawberry, but both times people recommended the lemon and now I see why. The line gets super active and busy past 10-11pm, but during the daytime it's way less crowded. Even when it gets packed the line moves pretty quick. Fortunately Portillo's offers both and it was recommended by locals and previous travelers to make this my one restaurant to try both. I arrived on foot on a Saturday before 10pm and there was a long line to order on the kiosks and a security guard by the door. The restaurant has two floors of seating with dated decor all around, assumingly part of the intended vibe of the establishment. The first floor seating was all taken but there were plenty of tables available on the second floor. I was able to try Portillo's hot dog and Italian beef sandwich. The hot dog included mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, pickle, and peppers on a poppy seed bun. The paper wrapper was strategically wrapped around the Chicago dog inside out, knowing that the logo would be clearly visible when people take pictures of the unwrapped hot dog. I ordered a regular hot dog but probably should've ordered a jumbo hot dog for a dollar more since then regular was tiny; for comparison it was definitely smaller than a Costco hot dog. Although the toppings complemented the hot dog well, the bun was soggy from being wrapped in the paper for only a few minutes. The standard big Italian beef sandwich (slightly wet) was much larger for more than double the price of the hot dog, with no Portillo's branding on that wrapper. I was a little too excited to order this that I forgot to add sweet and hot peppers, but the sandwich still tasted very good. After ordering I realized I probably should've ordered the gravy on the side so I can dip the sandwich more, but again it was still very good. For dessert I tried the lemon cake slice and strawberry shortcake. The lemon cake was a little dry and really sweet and the strawberry shortcake had a little too much mascarpone cheese whipped topping for my liking, but of course I didn't have to finish it all. Portillo's is a good option for casual fast food and for travelers to try. I definitely prefer the Italian beef sandwich over the Chicago dog, but that is my personal preference. For a sweet treat, the strawberry shortcake is a nice option if no other dessert places are nearby. To save time during peak hours, it may be a good idea to order ahead on the mobile app.

I tried to search 'best hot dogs in downtown Chicago' and the search brought up a lot of places…read morewhich would have been an expensive ride, several miles out of the city ... placed which had closed down ... or unrelated restaurants. Despite its 'tourist trap' reputation ... I figured, if they sell a lot of them, they must be good, right? Spoiler alert ... they sucked. Let's talk about the whole ordering system ... Chaotic, confusing, terrible instructions. This is all compounded by them hiring a cranky senior citizen who stands next to the kiosks and rudely scolds you when you aren't following the impossible to understand procedure. The restaurant is a pasta restaurant connected to a hot dog restaurant and looks a lot like the food court of a rest area off the highway, combined with a casino, including creepy mannequins on catwalks and lots of red and purple spotlights and neon. I opted for a regular Chicago dog (jumbo) ... and some sort of special spiced/smoked Chicago dog. It took nearly 20 minutes from order time to the time my bag arrived at the counter. The bottom level doesn't have nearly enough seating for everyone ... and of course no signs direct you to the upper levels, where tons of empty tables are. Filthy, empty tables. Just looking at the dirty tables was enough to give someone food poisoning. Both hot dogs were cold. It was clear they were probably sitting out being thrown into bags, assembly line style, because they didn't taste fresh (or hot). The bun wasn't toasted or buttered ... Just a cold white poppy seed bun for the 'special' dog and a plain white cold bun for the other. Beyond being lukewarm, the hot dogs were pretty bland and tasteless. I could barely taste the relish or mustard. All I could taste was the dill pickle spear resting on top or the odd little spicy peppers with their stem caps. I recommend ordering some dipping sauce, or cheese. I was very disappointed ... which was slightly offset by only wasting $5.50 per hot dog, which was about $5.00 too much but at least not approaching 'bad airport food pricing'. After trying these, I am all set with having another Chicago hot dog. Maybe it would have lived up to the reputation at a fresher place. This is clearly a mass-produced, assembly line kind of tourist trap. There were hundreds of people there at 2 p.m. For reference, my top hot dog spots ... Pink's in Los Angeles ... Ben's Chili Bowl in DC ... Olneyville System in Providence ... Coney Island in Worcester (probably more for nostalgia) ... so it's not like this is my first fancy hot dog experience. One last thing ... the milkshake was no different than McDonalds.

The service is very welcoming and family oriented. We ordered three steak tacos and one steak huarrache. My boyfriend said the steak tacos were decent. They did bring them out pretty quick and I don't think they were as fresh as they could've been. My order of the steak huarache came out a few minutes after he received his food. My meal was fresh and delicious. The steak was seasoned perfectly. It was not overly greasy. The cheese was delicious. The beans were the perfect texture added onto the base of the huarache. The huarache was a bit more tougher in texture, but it held up very well with everything loaded on top of it. I enjoyed it! I will absolutely be coming back. The sauces were good too. The ambience of this place was very chill. You can relax enjoy your food slowly if you want.
