Delicious. Chicago dog would maybe be better with a poppyseed bun but still hit the spot. Quick service.

When in Chicago you gotta try the dogs! Devil dawgs has a great selection of dawgs and also makes a darn good milkshake. Try them sometime service is quick as well!

This hotdog place is a stand inside a building leading up to Navy Pier. We tried the local famous chicago hot dog. It was decent, and fast. We had no issues and it checked out box to try the chicago hot dawg. It happened to be a time in my diet when I wasn't able to eat seeds. Don't hate me but I traded the poppy seed roll for a pretzel roll. It was a good substitute, but I imagine the poppy seed roll would have been much better.

Recommended by a friend who is a local. Came around 12:30 on Wednesday early June. Ordered right away, not too busy. Was able to get a seat outside. I can see this place getting really busy, very popular. Ordered the Chicago dog, first time trying. It was amazing! Loved all the toppings. If you're really hungry order two. Fries were ok, wish I would have gotten the tater tots. Great place to come after walking along Michigan Av. and/ or visiting Hancock tower.

When in Rome, right? I was told by a local to not go to a chain restaurant for a Chicago hot dog. Locals support local here and I see why. The Chicago dog was not basic dog at all. It had plenty of toppings, most noticeable was the famous relish. I don't know how to explain it but there was an explosion of flavor in each bite. It's not something that can be easily replicated. Must be portions of the topping to dog. Definitely a must try. Also tried the burger just for a comparison or the experience. It was a pretty good size. Interesting flavor but not as much wow factor as the hot dog. Fries weren't anything special to me. On the soggy side which I know some people prefer. Standing room only inside. You're surrounded by others eating or waiting. Counter of condiments available to help yourself. Do not expect fine dining but expect good food.

    Chicago dog. Very colorful.

Service was very fast. Hotdog was average, toppings were delicious. Tried the Chicago style. Outdoor sitting area, tables and chairs were clean.

Didn't pay attention to any hype surrounding chicago hot dogs but went to try one and I get the hype now. These were freaking incredible. Icelandic dog was the best with the crispy onions. Green chili and cheddar dog was delish too what a classic combo. And the Chicago classic dog felt balanced and fresh. Need more now.

First time having a Chicago dog. Food was alright. Wasn't too impressed. Location is very small. Employees were nice. Close proximity to a bunch of shops.

I stand by my initial review of the devil dawg but I wanted to provide an update. The owner contacted me because my review of the devil dawg was not stellar and she offered to refund my order. Above anything else I can certainly appreciate the customer care. When I return to Chicago I'll be sure to have the Devil Dawg on Rush Street as a must go spot. I'll at least know this spot aims to please its patrons. Thank you Dena and I look forward to an opportunity to try the devil dawg again.

Glad to finally lay hands on a Chicago style vegan dog. The bread was super soft, vegan dog was amazingly juicy and packed 20g protein. The Chicago style toppings were mega tart and acidic, with the relish being tart too, I enjoyed it, but thought it was a little too one dimensional. Definitely worth trying once, when in Chicago. Service was quick, you order up front in tablets. Everything's Togo with tables up outside for you to sit down and eat your togos.

Food is served quickly, Clerk is friendly and takes your order quick. Casual ambiance. Wanted to try out Chicago Style, too me it tastes like any regular hotdog. I didn't order fries. I ordered the Hank beverage vanilla root beer.

This was a nice spot to grab a quick lunch! They were very busy, but seemed to move quickly. The service was good- but not necessarily outstanding, but that could have been due to the large crowd. The person behind the counter disappeared for a bit and the bags of food started piling up in the window- because of that, my fries weren't as hot as I would have liked, but they were still very good! The slider was filling and so delicious!

My friend was visiting from San Francisco and she wanted to try a Chicago dog so I took her to Devil Dawgs. Devil Dawgs makes the best Chicago dog I've ever had! So fresh and flavorful. She is pescatarian so it was awesome that she was able to get a veggie dog Chicago style. She also had the Icelandic Dawg which she said was very good as well. My Chicago dog came out very fast but her veggie dog took about 10 minutes. I love how the location is close to magnificent mile so it was easy to grab the dogs then go back to shopping. If you need to take someone to get a Chicago dog I highly recommend Devil Dawgs!

It has that classic late night comfort food vibe and feels like one of those staple spots you have to try at least once. First night I ordered a polish hot dog with everything on it and a fish sandwich w/ extra grilled onions. Super cool that your order comes with fries and I added a cheese cup both times. In my opinion the fries were mid the first go around, but second time they were better. Definitely tasted better dipped in cheese. They were kinda airy in texture, if that makes sense. Polish hot dog was around a 6.5-7/10 for me. It did taste better warmed up the next day. What I was most obsessed with was the double cheeseburger and fish sandwich! both were easily a 10/10. Super good prices and worth the money. Also, the chile peppers were sooo bomb and hotter than I expected ! I wanted to eat them all, but they were packing some serious heat! The lemon Italian ice is where it's at, make sure to order one! You can also mix it with strawberry, but both times people recommended the lemon and now I see why. The line gets super active and busy past 10-11pm, but during the daytime it's way less crowded. Even when it gets packed the line moves pretty quick. They stay open late and close at 1am which is nice.

Both were nice and hot. Fries were crispy and that first snap into the juicy sausage was worth the trip. No seating, so be prepared to eat in your car and get a bit messy. Also be warned the peppers are legitimately spicy, those serranos had my partner sweating. Glad I tried it, but not something I'd eat all the time, great late night drinking kind of food.

It was almost 11pm (they're open until 2am on Fridays.) and there were at least a dozen other vehicles in their drive-in stalls. Ordered their specialties, a Superdawg and Whoopskidawg with Superfries, Chocolate Super Malt and Black Kows. Service was fast and friendly at 11pm on a Friday. We were eating in our rental car in apx 10 min. It was cool to eat outside on a warm July night in a classic, 1950s style drive-in. The food was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I normally avoid krinkle cut fries because they are usually frozen and mushy or mealy. Not Superfries. These fresh cut fries were practically fried mashed potatoes. We loved them! The drinks were perfect. The Black Kows is basically a root beer float and served with an extra root beer "sidecar." Our only complaints were about errors with the garnishes. We specifically said we wanted all the garnishes on both dawgs and they only gave us the standard grilled onions on the Whoopskidawg and forgot the sport peppers on the Superdawg. Otherwise we loved everything. We might go back next week (before we fly home) because I really want to try their Whoopercheesie Burger and maybe a Supersundae. This place has a fun, nostalgic vibe that reminds me of neighborhood hot dog stands from the '80s. The vintage photos and décor give it plenty of character, making it feel like an old-school Chicago spot. The fountain drink selection is impressive, with plenty of choices to satisfy just about anyone. The prices are fair, the portions are satisfying, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. My only drawback is the ordering system. While ordering from a touchscreen is quick and efficient, I think it takes away some of the personal interaction between customers and staff. It's not a dealbreaker, but I do miss being greeted by someone behind the counter and placing my order the old-fashioned way. Overall, it's a great place to grab a bite. That changed when I arrived at Byron's Hot Dogs, an old-school Chicago stand near Wrigley Field that locals and visitors consistently praise for its classic dogs, friendly service, and affordable prices. The location was warm and welcoming, and the staff patiently explained the entire process. You order at the counter, then move down the line while they build the dog to your liking. They also serve burgers, Italian beef, Polish sausages, gyros, fries, and plenty of other options, but I had come for one reason: to experience the Chicago dog in its natural habitat. Then came the great ketchup controversy. I asked for ketchup and was informed that this was a serious violation of Chicago law. Apparently, ketchup does not belong on a Chicago hot dog, and requesting it is roughly equivalent to insulting the Cubs, deep-dish pizza, and the city flag all at once. Unwilling to abandon my artistic vision, I snuck across the street and purchased a bottle. When I returned, I applied a small amount to my hot dog. The moment the ketchup touched the bun, the lights flickered and a smoky figure appeared above the counter. He introduced himself as Ketchu-Potl, ancient deity of forbidden condiments. He cursed me to spend the rest of my life receiving mustard packets whenever I ask for ketchup. Worse, every hot dog I order now arrives with one single mysteriously warm tomato slice in my pocket. Despite the curse, the hot dog was excellent. The classic toppings were fresh and flavorful, and Byron's even offers its own variation with additional lettuce, cucumber, and green pepper--essentially turning the hot dog into a salad on a bun. Byron's is a casual, no-frills spot with a welcoming atmosphere, quick service, and plenty of outdoor seating. It's also a much better value than buying a hot dog inside Wrigley Field. As a lifelong hot dog enthusiast, I'm thrilled to have finally experienced the real Chicago version. Just remember: order it with the works, skip the ketchup, and never underestimate the wrath of Ketchu-Potl.
