If you go here for lunch, better bring your lunch waiting for your food. I ordered in the shop, got my receipt and waited, and waited, and waited. There were about 10 others waiting along with me. I felt encouraged at first as there were 3 employees behind the counter, all busy making subs. About 20 minutes later I noticed only one person actually got their order. Then the person who ordered after me, only purchasing a side of mac and cheese, asked if he could get his order filled as it should be pretty easy. They gave it to him so he was out of the way. Then a few minutes after that all I see are employees seemingly making subs just not mine or anyone else waiting along with me. I left with no sub after almost 25 minutes of waiting. Went to a nearby kabob place and got my food in like 4 minutes from ordering. Had a thought maybe I should swing by firehouse on my way home to get my sub which I paid for but never got, but I said screw it they're probably still making my sub. I will NEVER, EVER, GO BACK TO THIS PLACE. I heard firehouse makes good subs which is why I thought to give it a try. I'll never know now.. Slowest place you could imagine getting a sub in this town. 15 minutes when there was only 1 person ahead of me. They were working on a larger catering order and chose to just do the large order instead of helping the customers who were there. I can't even believe how long this took. Love this place, solid four stars! Excellent sub sandwiches. The place is new and it's good. I have been on a sub sandwich kick for the past few days and had a few from this place and a few from other places like Subway and Potbelly. There is no comparison folks, Firehouse Subs beats the other places. The place is clean, equipped with the latest touch screen soda machines, and well decorated. You can instant order over the net. I think I did through the living social website last time. I would imagine you can order at their site as well. They give you a free medium sub on your birthday. Yesterday was my birthday so I didn't pay for food hitting up the Alexandria and Fairfax locations. The hot sauce collection looks neato as well. If all I mentioned here won't get you in the door, they do have some good charitable programs to support local firefighters which I think is absolutely fantastic. If I could give this franchise no stars, that would be accurate. As an Italian-American, when I see people rate this place well, I realize that I may need a stiff drink or two. It's depressing what some people consider great food and value. Makes me wonder that they don't get out much and experience the world. They just don't know. THE ABSOLUTE WORST configuration of an Italian Sub I ever had in my life and ever will - of that I am confident. Obscene pricing. Obscene value -- offering lettuce, tomato, onions and a limp, sh8tty pickle spear as an OPTION?? Are you frickin' kidding me? Along with mustard and mayo -- who in the hell gets mustard and mayo with Italian dressing on an Italian sub? And speaking of dressing -- this proves what an absolute bastardization of what an Italian Sub should normally be. Been here 3 times this week. Great subs and good atmosphere. I've done the online ordering a few times and they are pretty good with it. I love the selection of hot sauces. The TV is usually playing sports of some kind. I like the snazzy drink machine that dispenses thousands of combos of soda. The prices are about on par with what's become the inflated cost of living in D.C. about $9 for a sandwhich, fries and drink. The food APPEARS to be good and I only had the Siracha sandwhich and chili, neither of which knocked me off my feet. But do NOT order their chili. It is substandard or mediocre at best. The Siracha is okay, not terrible, not good. It takes a little longer than other sub places to bring the order but I wouldn't count that against them IF you like the food. It's a nice decor and there's plenty of seating. It's in a plaza, so there's plenty of parking and the sign is large and bright, so you can't miss it. read more

Firehouse subs are the best sandwiches around. Period. Subway, Quiznos, and especially Potbelly, aren't even in this discussion. Their meatball sub is always steaming hot, well sauced. Love their brisket with cheese; melts in your mouth. Seating at this particular one is lacking, due to its footprint. The one in Kingstowne, my first experience with Firehouse, is still my favorite. The workers their are a little faster, the place a little bigger. But this one is a helluva lot closer these days. I always order in person, and always get exactly what I want here. Anyone who orders thru any social media channel gets what they deserve, IMO. I'm always reminded of Joe Pesci's rant in "Lethal Weapon 2" about never ordering at a drive-thru window; "You know what they do? They f@#k you at the drive thru!!" Ordered two sandwiches and they couldn't get those right. You look forward to your sandwich coming and you order a club and they put feta all over it with cucumbers. The sandwich was ruined. Then you order a gyro and it has mayonnaise and bacon on it. The owner never accepted responsibility just wanted to tell me about how he is short staffed. Everyone is and they charge too much money not to accept responsibility. I will never order from here again. He never offered any accomodations just told me to call Uber eats to get my money back. read more

The subs are phenomenal! I mix it up switching between the hook n ladder, hero and the Italian. Sometimes I'll get 2 because I can't decide. I'm going to branch out and try some others like the meatball. You can't give a place 1 star because of service. Cut some slack everyone in there is new. First time I went I waited 10 minutes. I as a hot sauce and chili fanatic, I LOVE their selection of hot sauces! For those who truly love the heat I think their rating scale might be a little off. I tried a habanero sauce they had listed as a 6 (out of 10) that I would have rated as a 4. The sandwich that I tried (#8 - The Engineer) was excellent. The bread was fresh and soft and you could really taste the quality in all of the rest of the ingredients. Their Coke machine was pretty cool too. They have one of those full touch screen machines where you can choose between a bunch of different Coca Cola products and add flavors to your drink. The staff was also very friendly, even during the busy lunch rush. I saw that they were giving away fireman hats to the kids. Not going to lie... I wanted one too! No locations in LA? OK, let me start by saying that I have been to this location at least 50 times. Always been ok. a little slow,. but the food is worth it. Today, we went there to grab lunch after running errands at about 2pm. some people were there but they were already eating except for one man. after almost 20 minutes, i asked if there would be a long wait and was told that they had several orders ahead of us and wouldnt be starting ours for "a while"! the 2 women behind the counter seemed completely lost and mostly just wandered back and forth. My kids and I absolutely LOVE Firehouse Subs, and prior to tonight we've always had great dining experiences with them. But tonight at this location we had some slow/terrible service. My daughter and I each got a sandwich and it took over 20 minutes for our sandwiches to be ready. When they were delivered my daughter's sandwich was made incorrectly (she ordered it plain and it came fully involved). We waited another 20+ minutes for them to remake a medium sub with just turkey and cheese. I eventually had to go ask where it was and the manager on duty (Hal) had completely forgotten about it. To make matters worse, someone had spilled what looked like an entire large drink at the table next to ours before we arrived and it wasn't cleaned the entire hour that we were there waiting. We will continue to eat and support Firehouse Subs, but not this location. read more

Usually go to the kingstowne location but stopped here because it's closer to my end location. My problems were that my ny steamer was skimp and they didn't put extra mustard on it like I requested. I ordered 2 sandwiches to go and they brought them out to dine in and I had to have them rewrapped to take out. I love the cherry lime aid and they only had 3 lime slices, I said something but no more limes came out the entire time I was there. My gf asked for BBQ sauce on the side and the employee rolled their eyes and acted as if she asked for something absurd. There were limited tables and we asked if we could sit at the table where they were editing the menu boards and they had no problem initially, but the manager came out and made a big deal about it. this place is dirty and smells like a fat lady's rear end (not joking, it does). there are chips all over the floor and the tables were WET! No joke, they were soaked. And the tables were set up funky, so I couldn't even find a place to sit. and ew, there were no napkins in the napkin holder. The service is horrible, nobody there smiles. and they misspelled and mispronounced my name. The cashier kept asking me all these crap questions when I knew what I wanted and he kept asking and asking. As a fan of Firehouse subs (the one in Fairfax) I wanted to give this one a try since it was new and closer. Big. Mistake. I arrived at 5:30 and it was not crowded. While placing my order, the person working not only took forever but completely and entirely got every aspect of my order wrong. She also added something to the bill I not only didn't mention, but didn't want. Then began the 12 minute wait (despite there being almost no one else in the store ) for my food. When it was being brought to me, I saw that it was completely wrong. Then the other two sandwiches at my table were brought. Also completely wrong and not what we had ordered. Good thing I didn't have anywhere to be because I was in for the long haul now. After pointing this out to guy working here (who incidentally was nice) he said he would re do the order. However, he offered to simply wipe off the unwanted ingredients and hand me it as is. What if I had allergies to the things I had specifically said I did not want? Was I supposed to just deal with it? Cut to 10 more minutes later as the remade sandwiches are brought out. They were good, as all firehouse subs are but there is no force on this earth that could posses me to return to this location ever in my life. I would rather drive double the distance than come back here. All in all I waited about 30 minutes from the point of walking in the store, ordering and waiting for my food to be made twice to get to a point where I could be eating. My order took almost 20 minutes to come out. Keep in mind there was one other customer. I told the cashier I wanted lettuce, tomato, and onion, and that certainly didn't happen. There was literally only meat, sauce and a toasted hero roll and it took 20 minutes. The hero was way too small (I ordered the medium, that's ironic I know). The hero was pretty good but I guess thats expected since it took 20 minutes. Service sucks so not gonna go back. Don't recommend unless you got lots of time and patience. read more

Great Subs, No Question, Hands Down! Hook & Ladder, The Best! Only uncomfortable issue is pressure to contribute to Fire Fighters Fund @ check out. And the ONE & ONLY PERSON, who is usually working there, is very slow. Probably because he is the One and Only Person there?! I annually donate to all my surrounding First Responders & Fire Departments (10 % of my income). For me, it's the right thing to do. But the pressure @ check out to donate @ Firehouse Subs, could be handled with a different approach. Perhaps, have printed envelopes for contributions? That would eliminate, the questionable, guilting, shady side of pressure on customers @ checkout to contribute. Not Cool! This place is definitely growing on me. Everyone I know who has lived in Virginia further out than Arlington and Alexandria raves about this place. (They do have several Maryland locations as well, but they're far out of DC.) It's basically a place that serves hot subs, not much different from Quiznos I thought the first time we got food there. However, that was a takeout experience, and the manger frankly told me that the food would not be as good when taken out because it was meant to be eaten hot. That does make a difference. Every time I have subsequently been there, the food has been much improved. Last time I was there, the sub I got (I don't remember the name and can't find it on the online menu) was addictive. This isn't a place I would want to go regularly, but it's a perfectly good place to go. Much better than Quiznos. read more

Ordered lunch through the online ordering for a company lunch. Six subs in total were ordered and out of those six, three of them were completely incorrect. Hero sub is delicious with jalapeno chips and it's nice that it is located right next to a Starbucks.

We were excitedly waiting for the opening of the new sub shop in the Van Dorn Plaza, but were a little worried that it wasn't going to be awesome as the menu promised. Well, we were worrying for nothing! It was great! We walked in to a rousing chorus of "Hello, and welcome to Firehouse Subs!" and made our selections: the NY Steamer and the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. The subs were so fantastic--hot, melty cheese with good deli meats. The staff members were all very nice and helpful and I can't wait to go back. I'm so glad this opened in this plaza--it's super convenient and the food is awesome. read more

I ordered at 12:38pm and the food arrived at 2:35pm, 2 hours later. The store called at 1.5 hrs, to tell me they were sorry and the food would be here in 10 minutes-it took another 30min+. The food was cold and soggy. The client I ordered lunch for left over an hour ago. WORST experience ever using this app, I will never order from Firehouse again, ever.
