Consisting of, smoked turkey breast, honey ham, crispy bacon, and melted Monterey Jack cheese, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and deli mustard on a fresh sub roll (medium size is $9.49). Usually come in here and it is clean and run efficiently, not so much today. It's like the grown-ups took the day off and left it to the kids to run. I pulled into the parking lot a little after 4 and there were 5 people standing in/sitting in the parking space directly in front of the door smoking. I went inside where two workers were and was promptly helped, however, everyone else came inside and two or three of the people outside smoking were working at the restaurant. Supposedly. I'm pretty sure one of the smokers just jumped back on the line without washing their hands, but it may have happened while I was focused on the two visitors hanging over the counter breathing their cigarette smoke and germs all over my food and the rest of what is behind the counter. Hopefully my order is correct since the one helping me was more interested in conversing with his friend than he was working on my order. The store itself was empty and it was dirty. The food here is great. We typically stop on our way to swim or go to sporting events. If you love dill pickles, these are perfect. Problem is, the people making food are spaced out. Plan on looking at your sandwich and asking for whatever was left off of it. The cashier apologized numerous times and wanted to make it correctly. Claimed several times that they are training staff. Sadly, she seemed to be the only one that cares about her job. I feel bad that she's stressing and the others could care less. I hope this place can turn it around. Why did my wife pickup at firehouse today's was due to National Sandwich Day Bogo deal. So it seems that the only sandwich we have ever had that was just ok was the meatball sub. Roast beef is well done. Medium Meatball is hearty. Later when I heat it in the toaster oven the bread will turn crusty & Adding hot pepper flakes & Parmesan reggiano I Hope it will put it over the top. After eating the sub I wasn't overly impressed. Fist time trying Firehouse Subs so we made our choices based on a suggestion here on Yelp (brisket) and from the menu descriptions. Placed the order online for take-out and it was ready when we got there. App is easy to use & our order was accurate. The staff were all compliant with masks. I did appreciate the cardboard contains that kept the sandwiches protected from being smashed. The quality & taste of subs were just ok, nothing remarkably good or bad. Just very average. The bread was fresh and the hot sandwiches were hot. Ample fillings on the Italian, but it made it quite messy to easy & the bread kept sliding off the fillings. The steak & cheese was filled on one half and the other half was pretty skimpy. The winner was definitely the brisket and cheddar, which had a nice smoky flavor & was well put together. We each got large subs which were very large, we could only eat half! We tried the chili as well and it was ok, very much like Wendy's chili. The two could be interchangeable, I would not notice the difference. Overall, it was ok but I would opt for other sub options in the area next time. read more

We usually love to eat at firehouse subs however, today I had an emergency our family, a bunch of people from out of state come in. I figured we'd order sandwiches from firehouse as we know part of the money goes to a good cause. The minute I mentioned to them I needed more than 10 sandwiches they put me in touch with the manager. I understood that that normally that would be a catering issue but I said we can either all come down there and order a couple sandwiches each or I can put in the order and you just let me know whenever you have time to make it. She told me to call back with the or, when I called back, it kept going unanswered and not able to leave a voicemail. When I finally did reach someone again, she told me they were still busy now it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I called back again and it kept going to that no answer where you can't leave a message. I can't believe they wouldn't want this amount of money for so many sandwiches since they donate to a good cause in our town which I live in. I called another sandwich shop up the road and they told me I could have 14 sandwiches in 40 minutes. This is unfortunate because we love firehouse subs, but the customer service was horrible and the manager didn't seem like she wanted our business. I also feel like our calls were going unanswered because my company cell phone has an out-of-state area code. First ever visit (and last!) to a firehouse, EPIC FAIL! Extremely disappointed. No more than 6 customers inside but at least 6-7 employees. i had placed a first time online order. Walked in and stood under the sign ONLINE ORDER PICKUP. And stood...and waited...and stood. NO acknowledgement thought they all saw me there. Figured they were busy & gave them a few more minutes...nothing!!?? Five minutes passed and nothing. Finally I said hey! I'm here for my online order. Some kid pointed to a tiny cubby off to my left and there was a bag in there. It was my order, now growing cold. Customer servic e was the WORST! Got home and found a cup, not a bowl, of chili as I ordered. Chili was for my g/f. I got a meatball sandwich. Chili was the WORST we've ever had...watery and lame with a bitter taste. We threw it out. Sandwich was meh...Marke Basket or Subway's meatballl are FAR better with much better taste & texture!! I will NEVER EVER step foot in one of these joints again. Unfortunately, I got quite ill after eating the brisket sub yesterday (it was definitely that, I hadn't eaten anything else since breakfast and the onset was fast). I'm giving three stars because I realize that this was an isolated incident and everything else about our experience was good, and they were very busy since the Five Guys nearby was closed so maybe not as careful as they usually are. Hopefully they'll read this review and investigate, and nobody else will have the same experience. It seemed like a decent place. How remarkably UNremarkable. So sad. I finally made a point of getting a sandwich here, the only location I have ever seen in Maine. (I haven't been everywhere, so I may have missed one somewhere.) I did a create your own since I have special diet issues. I got a medium, which is good size for a single hungry adult. Pity the bread is steam heated, which only turns it to mush. And that the meat (I had ham) tastes LESS quality than the stuff I get at Hannaford's deli department.The veggies were neither here nor there in the way of freshness or taste. Believe it or not, I had never been to Firehouse Subs until this past weekend. I thought it would be just another Subway and since I don't particularly like Subway, I avoided it. My boyfriend convinced me to give it a try as a quick dinner on our way back home Saturday night. We stopped at the store in Biddeford and were pleasantly surprised to find it quiet and not busy. I ordered the New York Steamer and was not disappointed. The service was fast and we got our meals within a few minutes. The food was fresh and hot. They also have sweet tea which I'm never sad about! My only complaint was that the employees were a little loud after we got our meals but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Great sub, salad, sandwich spot! I got the Sriracha Beef, it's roast beef, monterey jack, spicy sriracha sauce, tomato, onion, light mayo on a light wheat roll. All this for under 500 calories! My kind of sandwich. It was packed with flavor & heat, but not over the top hot. They have hot subs, cold subs & salads. Everything looked delicious & I can't wait to go back to try something else! They also host community events. The rescue I volunteer for, Lucky Pup Rescue, had a "Subs for Pups" fund raiser last night & it was a huge success. Been going here for almost a year, at least 2x a month and every time has been amazing. This last visit, something had changed, the rolls were NOT the same, they had a slightly gluey taste and it made The whole sandwich taste funny. Been over a month now and still when I pass looking for a place for lunch, I consider giving it another try, but can't get the gluey roll taste out of my head. Outstanding selection of sandwiches at good prices. The my really cater to everyone with sandwiches that range from 430 calories to well over 1000. They also have salads, chili, and kids meals (all under $5). This is an excellent alternative to the other chain restaurant sub shops. Also I really like that they support public safety.
