A quick search later and I realized it was only 20 minutes from home. I immediately grabbed a friend and requested a dinner date for the item that caught my eye: the Bratwurst mit Kraut -- bratwurst cooked with apples and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun and topped with even more kraut, with a side of German potato salad ($12). But I'll admit... I was also eyeing their Obatzda Burger with Oktoberfest beer cheese. Feeling bold, I asked our waitress if I could order their regular Pretzel Braid appetizer ($9) but swap the usual cheez-wiz and spicy mustard for that dreamy Oktoberfest beer cheese instead. She paused, smiled, wrote it down, and said, "that sounds really good!" Bless the chef for making my pretzel + beer cheese fantasy come true. The pretzel braid was warm, soft, and perfectly salty, and that beer cheese was the real MVP -- smooth, melty, not too hot, and with a proper beer-cheese finish. When the bratwurst plate arrived, it was a showstopper. Juicy brat, tangy kraut piled high, and tucked inside a pretzel roll that was soft but sturdy enough to hold it all together. No mustard needed! The German potato salad surprised me, though -- I'm used to the warm version, so finding it chilled caught me off guard. But honestly? It worked. Perfectly seasoned, just wet enough to be salad without drifting into soupy territory. I demolished both. Dessert was impossible to skip after hearing our waitress describe it to another table. We shared both the Apple Caramel Crumb Cake and the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Cake. The crumb cake was served warm with ice cream, loaded with thick, crunchy topping that didn't rely on chopped nuts (bonus points!). The mascarpone cake was light and buttery with the perfect balance of lemon and blueberry -- like saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one dessert sitting. Southside Deli's Oktoberfest menu blew me away, and if their everyday offerings are anywhere close, I've been seriously missing out. Add in free parking, a convenient location, and plenty of seating, and it's an easy go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Southside is officially on my food rotation radar now!

We exchanged 1/2 of our sandwiches. When I asked for mine w/out jalapeños you would have thought I had asked her to go out back and killed the chicken with her bare hand! Very strange look and a bit of a snotty attitude! The service was sooooo slow! And only a few people were in. We stopped in for an early lunch. (Just after opening) The new location is way too small. I'm surprised they chose to move to this location. The parking lot is tiny and weird shaped. There's not a lot of seating inside... I personally have tried all of their locations and it's always the same issues. It was not my choice to pick here, I would have gone elsewhere.

What incredible flavor and texture these meatballs have! All meat! The red sauce was wonderfully bright with true authentic Italian sauce. My husband and I shared the sliders and the Cubana sandwich. What fabulous flavors in the Cubana as well. The bread had a nice crunch on the outside with soft bites inside. Delicious!! The second night we enjoyed delicious Spaghetti and those wonderful Meatballs along with the best Chicken Marsala we've ever enjoyed. We will visit the next time we are in Carlisle.

It would just be cool if there were one or two items designed with vegans in mind. So, after some hocus pocus work, I decided on The Puttanesca Pizza and a non-alcoholic Cinnamon Vanilla Mule. The Puttanesca Pizza typically features olive tapenade, house tomato sauce, shaved Romano and rosemary gremolata. The waitress said it would be no problem to leave off the Romano. The Cinnamon Vanilla Mule contains cinnamon-vanilla syrup and ginger beer. Thankfully no substitutions needed here. The pizza at Pitt Street Station is bar style. A thin, chewy crust with the toppings layered on top. I found the crust to be pretty good. I like the combo of tapenade and house tomato sauce but did find it a tad salty. Can't imagine what it is like with the Romano added in. The Cinnamon Vanilla Mule was very good. I liked the balance of all the components. It was cool to see some non alcoholic cocktails on the menu and to have them be really good. I would return to Pitt Street Station if meeting up with someone because the place is accommodating to dietary needs but until some actual vegan items are on the menu it won't be somewhere I seek out on my own.

I walked in around 4pm and found a handful of people inside -- some chatting quietly, others working on laptops. The space was clean, calm, and welcoming, with soft music playing overhead. The woman at the counter was an absolute sunbeam on an otherwise dreary afternoon, greeting me warmly and happily taking my order. I went with an iced coffee with sugar-free vanilla syrup (extra sweet, please!) and oat milk. Total came to $5.25. While she prepared my drink, I took a moment to look around and realized what a great view Denim offers from their bar seating area. Full glass windows with stools looking out over the square in Carlisle make it a fantastic people-watching spot. That afternoon, the Farmers Market was set up across the square, and it was fun watching people dash between stands while dodging raindrops to grab their weekly goodies. It struck me as a perfect place to meet a friend, spend a few hours working on a laptop, or just decompress with a coffee and watch the world go by. Denim also had a small sweet treat case with snacks that would pair nicely with coffee. I stuck with just the drink this time, but everything looked tempting enough that I'd definitely consider adding a pastry next visit. A few minutes later my name was called and my drink was waiting at the end of the counter. One interesting touch: they placed the container of oat milk beside my coffee so I could add exactly as much as I wanted. It's a small detail, but not something you see at many coffee shops, and I appreciated the flexibility. The iced coffee itself was excellent. Unlike some places where iced coffee tastes like watered-down brown liquid, Denim's actually tasted like coffee -- strong, smooth, and delivering a solid caffeine boost. Overall: great service, really good coffee, reasonable prices, and a cozy spot right in the heart of town. The only real challenge is parking since it's so close to the square. Street parking is available nearby, but depending on the time of day you may need to circle a bit. All in all, a great little coffee stop and I'm glad I finally walked through the door.
