To paraphrase an often-used saying ... First impressions are everything. I'd seen many Firehouse Subs locations over the years, but I never was in a situation where eating at one would be an option. After visiting some friends in the area, I was starving and looking for something that was both tasty and outside the usual places. After driving a while with nothing that struck me, and getting close to 10PM on a weeknight, I saw Firehouse Subs and figured now was as good of time as any to try them. Unfortunately, my first experience at Firehouse was a resounding MEH, and they lost their chance to impress this sub lover. There was one resounding negative but before I go into that, let me go over the things that were not an issue. Cleanliness was not an issue, as it was 30 minutes before close and the staff had started to clean for the night. The staff was not an issue either - they were extremely polite and professional and did not make myself or the other last-minute diners feel rushed. They brought me my New York Steamer (corned beef and pastrami) after a slightly longer wait than anticipated, but that wasn't an issue. Neither was the bread, which was warm, soft, and pretty yummy. The problem revealed itself as I continued into the sandwich. Something wasn't right. At first, I thought that the really tasty bread was overpowering the sandwich. Then I thought that maybe the meat portions were too skimpy. But I soon began to realize that it was the meat itself. It was bland and flavorless. The "steamer" seemed to have all of the flavor "steamed" out of the meat. As meat fell from the sandwich to my plate, I found the corned beef and the pastrami indistinguishable. If you got a bite with some cheese and dressing, it didn't taste bad. But taste the meat itself and be prepared to be underwhelmed and disappointed. I thought about giving three stars, and I guess I'd given them 2.5 for their positives, such as the staff and the tasty bread. But a sandwich is worthless unless ALL of the ingredients are quality. If you use great bread and fill it with crap, you're gonna get a crappy sandwich on a nice roll. And that's what I felt I got at Firehouse Subs. And there's no way that can get over 2 stars from me. read more

Best subs I've ever had! Blows the competition away! Had what they called the "Reuben" and was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! However, i have just one complaint. They misnamed the sandwich! What they serve is NOT a Reuben! It's called a Rachel...look it up! A Reuben uses corned beef and sauerkraut. Yours has pastrami and coleslaw. Great location, great sandwiches, clean store. Anyways, food is great, cooked to order, quickly made by friendly staff. If something is not as you like they are quick to fix to your satisfaction. The seating is plentiful, atmosphere is welcoming, and it's worth going in just to smell the bread baking. You should probably get a sandwich too, but I don't want to seem pushy. I personally like the BBQ sandwich, but there is not one that should disappoint, and if it does you probably are eating the wrong sandwich. They also have the magic beverage dispenser, the kind the has the touchscreen and has around 8,500 flavors. Seriously, it's a lot. So don't get crazy. read more

I'll start with the positive, and that is that my sub was really good. I had the Hook & Ladder Light, and I even had made to order with special requests, and it came out correctly, it was hot, and it tasted great. The problem is that it took 19 minutes to get it. For a sandwich. One that they probably make 100 times a day. The entire place was full of people just waiting on food. I didn't see anyone eating. Two people asked for their money back while I was waiting, because they had been waiting more than 20 minutes for their subs. There were 3-4 staff members behind the counter, so it didn't seem like they were understaffed, just incredibly inefficient. I wasn't in a rush today, but many days I don't have that kind of time to wait on a sandwich, especially if Subway or Jerry's or Quizno's can do it in five minutes. I would give them another chance to see if it was just an off-day, but if that kind of wait were consistent, I probably wouldn't go back. read more

I've never written a review before, yet I do delivery at least twice a week. I've had subs from every place. A sub is a sub. Usually. This was the absolute best sub I've ever had in my life. I ordered The Italian (cold cut) but it wasn't cold, or anything like your normal Italian cold cut. It's a hot sub so the pepperoni, salami, ham, cheese etc., are all warm with Italian seasoning on top of the melted cheese on really fresh, homemade rolls...AND the Italian dressing they put on it. Orgasmic. My son got the Turkey, Bacon & Ranch sub (which he gets everywhere) and also couldn't believe how good it was. He also said no one else's even came close. Their homemade brownies & oatmeal cookies are also the bomb. I can never eat an entire half of a sub and I devoured the whole thing. (They also do something to their pickles that makes you want 5 more.) After visiting for a doctor's appointment me and my wife decided for a quick afternoon lunch bite. Have heard a lot about Firehouse and seen a few commercials. Stopped passed the Owings Mills location and ordered a medium New York Steamer & large Steak n Cheese. Bill came to $20+ and honestly I have never seen such a greater misrepresentation of a sub sandwich for what they charge. Meat was relatively scarce when you open the sandwich for inspection especially when see portions of the sub roll with just bread showing. Onions and green peppers were not to be seen. The New York Steamer was just as pitiful. Flavor wise there was nothing I could give a star to. Overall it's tough to enjoy a meal when the overall presentation is totally lacking for the $$. Maybe due to Covid-19 they are trying to reduce volume of sandwiches to offset losses i.e. orange juice 64 oz. to now 59 oz . I honestly can say I definitely could not recommend or contemplate visiting again no matter the hunger spell. I have visited non franchise sub locations that would put Firehouse to shame. read more

Spicy simple but good subs. The meats not oily like other places. Much more worth it than subway. A warm sub on a cold days a nice lunch.

Staffs are friendly. I def come back and try a different sub I always get the same thing but I'm very picky when it comes to trying different thins . The beef brisket is very good. I was telling my friend the bread is really soft and good that it' is different from subway . For the people first time visit - combo comes with pickles and bag of chips huge large cup or medium Large is a foot long .. I reccomend the bbq brisket .. Bread choice : wheat or white . Wheat !!!! I tried the option to order online & loved it. When I arrived, my a Firehouse Sub was waiting for me. It was warm & tasty, with great flavors! I don't usually get my subs toasted, because I prefer a softer bread, and not dry & crispy. This sub was perfect! The staff was very welcoming & polite and I felt like my business was appreciated. Beware the mayo!!! They have a list of condiments that are included. I thought they would be on the side, which is my fault for assuming. But I can pick off everything except mayo. And little mayo won't kill me. And if there's more than a little mayo, I can take off the mayo side and have an open faced sandwich. But they slathered much more than a little mayo on every inch of the sub, both sides. I don't get mayo. Nasty stuff. But I really don't get abnormally large amounts of mayo. I would love to tell you about how the food tasted. All I can tell you is that it tastes like mayo. read more

This was my first time eating from Firehouse Subs and ordering through their grub hub. Ordering online was easy in choosing my selections. The delivery was speedy but they delivered another person's food to my house. So, we had to call Firehouse and notify them of mixup. I asked for my money to be refunded, they said they couldn't. I asked for some type of percentage off my order, they said they could not do this on grub hub orders. Then he proceeded to offer freebies like brownies or chips or soda. Ridiculous. I asked for them to remake our food and resend it out properly. The same driver came back again, very apologetic and took 'Abby's' (name printed on receipt) food back and gave us our fresh remade order. After all that, we finally and late and past hungry ate our food which didn't have our original makings included, just 2 philly steak and cheese sandwiches. My wife and I have been to firehouse in the past both to purchase subs as well as get free birthday subs. This year, for my wife's birthday, she was unable to go to get her free sub due to us having a recent newborn. I decided to stop by to see if I could get her free birthday sub for her. I went in and asked if this would be possible and the manager said yes, but that they have an app that you have to use now. I downloaded the app and set it up for my wife and then went to order her sub with the code that the app gave me as well as her ID which I brought to prove that it was her birthday. I should mention that no other business I have seen with a free birthday offer checks ID. I guess this should have been the first warning sign. The same manager then told me that unfortunately my wife has to be there to get the free sub. I asked him why this was the case now and he said that he's not allowed to do this (I guess he forgot about that 5-10 minutes ago when I first asked?). He asked if I was planning to buy any subs and told me that if I wanted to buy a sub for myself, then he could make an exception. I asked why he was allowed to make the buy one get one free exception, but not honor the free birthday sub. He said that he got in trouble before from corporate. I asked him how would they even know and he said cameras and pointed at the security camera on the wall behind him. At this point I knew that he just thought I was stupid and he could pull a bait and switch on me and/or waste my time. I told him no thanks and left rather than continue to support the business. If he had just told me when I first walked in that it was not possible, I would have been disappointed but understood. Instead I left feeling like I was being targeted with a shady business practice instead of receiving something for free. The point of a free birthday offer is to show loyalty to customers, not trick people into buying something that they didn't intend to buy when they came in. I used to come here a lot more often when i worked closer. So when i moved to the area i was excited to share this place with my fiance. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. It was fairly empty in there so i figured there was no way they could mess up my to go order, boy was it a doozy. My order was a little complex, but my fiance's food was even very straight forward roast beef and cheese. I literally said just said only meat and cheese, nothing else, no lettuce, no mayo just meat, cheese and bread. And somehow they managed to eff that up, while adding all of the fixens to my order correctly. I don't even know, but they made this sub behind their counter and handed it to me already wrapped up. i knew he was starving so i rushed home to give it to him, he opened it up, took a bite and spit it out. It was just mayo, just straight mayo, i looked at the receipt it said effing lettuce and mayo on it, i don't know if i stuttered or made these folks mad but i said NO MAYO at least 3 times to the person taking my order and the person making the sandwich did it anyway. I came here for the first time the other day and I absolutely loved it! I got the limited offer King's Hawaiian Pork and Slaw sandwich. It took a while for the sandwiches to come out, but the taste was definitely worth it and the staff was friendly. I tried a bite of the hoagie/sub that my boyfriend got, but it didn't taste as flavorful as the Pork and Slaw sandwich though. We came around 5pm and was mostly empty, maybe 2 or 3 other people sitting down to eat. The decor was pretty interesting as well as the hot sauce ratings that they had. I would definitely recommend getting the King's Hawaiian Pork and Slaw while it's still there since it's only there for a certain amount of time though. read more

I had asked the young lady to not put mushrooms and would like my subs dry with no mayo. My receipt was accurate to what I had ordered. We moved to Germantown about a year ago and did not know anything about Firehouse Subs. Our first visit was 4/27/2019 and again on 4/28/19. Honestly these are the best subs my wife and I have ever eaten. Their steak and cheese and roast beef subs are the best. Friendly employees that seem to really care and make your visit enjoyable, unlike the other "Sub shops" out there. Customer service and good food is important to us.
