Got some subs yesterday from firehouse. We hadn't been there in a while. I was craving a meatball sub so we went there. I got one for me and one for my mom. I asked for one to not be toasted and they didn't toast it . I can't tell you how many places will toast it after I say, don't toast it. So I was pretty happy about that. I think my husband got an Italian sub. I'm not sure he liked it though. The place was pretty clean. Tables were a little sticky. The staff were very friendly, they greeted us. they offered suggestions. They communicated very well, they made our food correctly and they even said happy Mother's Day, very nice guys. I really enjoy this Firehouse Subs in Hampton. It has a familiar, almost home-like feel. The workers are friendly and work very hard, and the subs are consistently good. The restaurant is usually clean and well kept. Just a heads-up: they don't accept bills over $20. You can use your firehouse sub app to place your order and pick it up from the pickup stand right when you walk in on the right, which is super convenient. Even when they get backed up, the staff keeps pushing through, so please consider leaving a tip--it really helps and is appreciated. read more

The guys that work here are great, easy going, easy to talk to, and make a mean sub. I don't eat here very often because it's a little more expensive then lets say subway but it is 10x (ten times) better then the subway nearly across the street. This store continually gets orders wrong. I do like Firehouse, but this location is a big fat NOPE. It shouldn't be hard to read an order to make a sandwich correctly. Also, their soda machine NEVER works correctly. It hasn't worked right in the year and a half that I've lived in Hampton. It's a problem when soda comes out of the machine tasting like the bottom of a soda after all the ice melted. It tastes like super watered down carbonated water with essence of soda syrup. I really like the meatball and the italian sub. Very good quality to the sandwiches. However, what bothered me for the past two years, is they are always on the "Veterans Day" free food list. Yet, for the past two years I have been turned around stating they have run out of food. Each year, I am at the door when it opens. how can you be out of food when I am the first person at the door. We ordered pickup for our subs. One was for a meat eater - Turkey and bacon sub and one was for a vegetarian- a veggie sub. On the veggie sub was two pieces of meat. Disappointing that they would put meat on a veggie subs. The sandwich was clearly prepared sloppy because it was a piece of beef and chicken neither meats from the other sub we ordered. Will not be returning here. Thought we could bite into a non meat sub yet chucks of meat. That should be unacceptable. read more

The service was terrible. They were out of lettuce for the salad we ordered and rather than provide a refund, they offered a side dish instead, which was less than the price of the salad. Two of the sandwiches were made wrong and the potato soup and Mac and Cheese were cold. We got sick after eating here. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

I'm usually a big fan of Firehouse Subs. However, this is the WORST location we have ever been to. First, the customer service was lackluster. Usually, Firehouse employees greet you with an enthusiastic "Welcome to Firehouse!" If these guys said it, it was so mumbled, we never heard it. We were then told that they could only take orders online--not in person. I thought this was odd, but I have the app, so it wasn't a big deal (although, later, I saw them taking orders at the counter). Next, the Freestyle soda machine was out of half of the flavors. And they had NO WATER! How is that even possible?! My daughter did try the orange drink, but it exploded all over her. The condition of the restaurant was disgusting. The floors were sticky, and it stunk of urine. I moved to another part of the restaurant to get away from the smell, but then the manager came in, holding a cigarette, and reeked of smoke. My family and I decided that we would have to eat out in our car to get away from the smell. Plus, the tables were filthy. The wait time was also excessive. And when it was ready, they just put it out on the online shelf--they never even called out our name. It was only when one of the employees noticed we had been sitting there for a while that they asked what the name of our order was. He then went over and grabbed our bag from the shelf. It makes me wonder how long it had been sitting there. So we packed up to leave, only to find out there were no lids for the large soda. One of the employees went into the back a couple of times to find them, each time coming out with the wrong size. She was then told by the manager they didn't have the lids for the large drinks. Seriously?! Once we were out in the car, we started handing out the sandwiches. That's when we realized they completely missed one of our sandwiches. It was an absolute joke. At least the sandwiches (when we got them) were good. But everything else about our experience was terrible. We should have gone to one of the other dozen places in the area. 3 staff making sandwiches, one cashier. I arrived at the tail-end of the lunch hour rush. Floors marked for social distancing, staff wearing masks. A bottle of hand sanitizer haphazardly on a table in front of the prep station. No problems with my order however a gentleman was standing waiting for his order. The staff preparing the sandwiches were negatively and loudly discussing a previous customer. The gentleman waiting thought they were talking about him, interrupted the staff and apologized if he had offended them in any way. He was genuinely embarrassed and thought they were discussing him. Staff stated they were talking about another customer and continued to badmouth that person and situation while at least 7 other people were present and waiting for their food. First time visit. The store was empty and the employees were very friendly and relaxed. I ordered the small meatball sandwich and the medium club. Soooooo good. Okay let's be professional. The restaurant was clean. There were signs indicating social distancing. The team was wearing masks. I could not see beyond the counter so I can not confirm if they had gloves. It may have taken about 15 minutes or so for the order to be done. The staff were friendly and funny as we shared a funny joke. They gave us free cookies. This location had such great service but the food however left much to desire. I ordered the NY steamer and I was handed a thrown together Sammy that tasted mediocre at best. Went to firehouse subs for weekly lunch on a Friday. The ice machine was broken and it took over 20 minutes once ordered to get my meal. Total I was there was 1 hour, and I was hoping for a quick lunch. Staff appeared un-trained: they could barely figure out the cash register and were moving so slowly making sandwiches. The bathroom was dirty and without soap. I was disappointed in the service, but the sandwich was good. I got the Hook and Ladder. read more

I got the sweet and spicy meatball sub and it was SO GOOD! The cheese was melted perfectly, had the perfect amount of meatballs, smothered in delicious marinara sauce, and the bread was toasted nicely. I was kind of missing the 'sweet' aspect of 'sweet and spicy', as the sauce barely had any hints of sweet. But I can overlook that because the sub was just so good. They also give you a pickle. Ordered a steak and cheese and a jerk turkey sub- the jerk turkey was made correctly, and my partner enjoyed it. The steak and cheese (which is typically steak, cheese, onions, peppers, Mayo and deli mustard) was only steak, cheese and barely any Mayo. It was very dry and bland. Store is closed at 1:30 on a Sunday. Seriously. Been here a few times and the food is ok but it takes forever.

If I could give this fire house a negative star, I would. The sub tasted fine, no better than usual. We waited 45 minutes for two subs and there was a couple and a single person in front of us. There was four people working the line moseying around as if they had nothing to do with no sense of urgency and no manager in sight. I understand you can be busy and that to go orders exist but if you were running that behind you should inform customers before taking orders, not to mention it's very unprofessional to cut eyes at the customer after I've spent $25 and all I want is to eat within a decent time frame. I was about to have a Karen moment but I was very nice and asked how much longer it would be and I Was told that our order was a next up, no one even offered a bag or chips or a cookie as compensation for the ridiculous wait. Tasty subs filled with your favorite toppings. The restaurant is nice and clean. The woman taking our order was not that "welcoming" but I won't hold it against them. Subs are steamed so if you get yours to-go, it may be mushy when you get to your destination, so I recommend eating in. I placed an online order for pickup tonight. I requested ASAP and it was pushed to the following day. I called and was told that they would not fulfill my order and I could come in and get a refund then. I ended the call and then decided to call and speak to a manager. Well they decided to stop answering the phone. My husband went up there and their was NO manager on duty. When he walked out he said the staff was snickering.
