My husband got the New York Steamer and I got the grilled cheese sandwich. Their sandwiches were served hot and delicious. My husband loves their chocolate cookies, I did not get a chance to try it since he ate it all and so fast. The restaurant is clean. Service was friendly. I've been to this location several times and have been extremely pleased with the service and food. Unfortunately on 7/29/22 @ 12:23pm I walked in and waited to be acknowledged by the older Hispanic lady wearing a black and white shirt behind the register counting the drawer after several minutes of totally ignoring me a younger Hispanic lady entered the store and was given a warm greeting by all the staff including the manager behind the counter. Apparently I must been invisible because the manager completely disregard my presence and proceeded to take and process the young lady's order, who came in after me. After of standing there dumbfounded I left and went across the parking lot to Veegos who greeted me as soon as I walked in. I was given excellent customer service and no issues with my order being taken. After leaving Veegos I walked back to Firehouse to get the name of the manager who had given me such a horrible experience. According to her , she was not the manager and said her name was "Sela" I refuse to patronagnized any establishment that displays any form of racism, disrespect and plain ole bad customer service. read more

My husband and I stopped by for the first time and we were very satisfied with our food order. I ordered the Hook and Ladder and he ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch sub. The service was fast and easy. The small sub that I ordered wasn't as small as the lady made it seem to be. I felt like I had ordered a one-bite sub but when I saw it, it was a good size small sub. Very filling! read more

My sister took me to this place today because she was on the birthday group for a free sub from here. Before this, I had never heard or seen this place. Upon driving by and walking up to the shop, I was like eh. Probably another sandwich chain that's like every other place. But the presentation of the restaurant on the inside was EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE. I loved the way that the inside looked and they had tv's everywhere for viewing. The menu looked great and the sandwiches were in the $6.00 Range. They have a really cool electronic ice machine/drink machine that's badass. The employee's were all really nice and helpful and service is really good. I forgot which sandwich we ordered but I expected it to be extremely tasty seeing the presentation of the restaurant. But when I ate the food, it wasn't quite as I expected. It was a little bit dry and the meat wasn't that tasty as I expected it to be. This is why I give it a 3 stars. This is my favorite quick bite place! Anytime I can't decide what I want I know firehouse subs will always satisfy me. They can make modifications for any sandwich and and are usually pretty friendly. Although I don't eat spicy food, my fiancé does and he loves that they have a large variety of hot sauce options to use. They also have an app where you can build rewards points. I absolutely love that they have that because idk how many free subs I've accumulated over the years but it's always nice to be able to get one of my favorite meals and have the ability to use my rewards. read more

Yesterday thought going to firehouse subs was a good idea. No it was not. Came to this location and ordered 4 sandwiches and two salads for the family. We were meet by two African Americans at the counter. They took our order and there was nobody in the store. They started the order with little exspediance. At that point three other African Americans walked in. They ordered and sat down. One more African american person walked in ordered and stood a waited. Everyone got there food before us. If the that is not racism I don't know what's is. You can play your black card well ill play my Mexican card. I will never be back. And when I tried to get my money back the African American wanted to fight. Never going back and corporate will be called. read more

These days there are so many sub shops around. So it takes a special ingredient to set them apart. At Firehouse subs, that special item are their hot sauces! They have so many different versions of hot sauces from BURNING HOT to somewhat mild. I like their house specialty which is like a HOT BBQ sauce. It's so good on top of ANY of their sandwiches. I usually get a Hook and Ladder of their Engineer, and their meatball is actually VERY good. read more

I could've liked this place, I should like it, but I don't. I order the turkey bacon ranch sandwich. There were two women at the counter yet I still had to wait a while. While preparing my sandwich I noticed that the turkey bacon and cheese were heated, in a PLASTIC bag. Umm, no ma'am. Are y'all trying to kill me?! I hate to do this to firehouse subs because the food used to be amazing. Today may have been my last day at a firehouse sub. Service HORRIBLE! Walked in and no one was around. Made myself to the register and one person was arching TV, I spoke to them while they had their backs towards me and no response. They finally turned around and said. "Sorry, did you say something ? I couldn't hear you" while taking out an AirPod out their ear. I said it's ok, and ordered .... Individual seemed upset that I walked in and disturbed their TV time, I almost felt like i was bothering them. Food was made and I walked out, I was almost afraid to eat my food, I honestly felt like they were upset because they did not say one single word to me other than the price for the sub. If I get sick, I'll know where to go. I never really look at my food but today I opened the Sandwich to see if I can spot anything unusual. I was that afraid of them spitting on my food. Great subs. I have tried 3 different ones now, the club, the Italian, and the steak and cheese and would gladly order any of the three again. They are served hot which is exactly how I like my subs. My first time here & I'm "hooked". Ha! Seriously though. I don't usually like toasted subs because the bread gets too hard & hurts the roof of my mouth. These were great! I got the club on a sub. I did have one piece of a little brown lettuce, but the rest if it was really fresh. They have one of the coke machines with all the flavors to mix & match, but too much carbonation & not enough syrup comes out. Not much flavor then. Clean place. My beau and I got Veggie subs with mushrooms and all the other veggie fixins. First, it took a long time to get our order and no one was there minus two other people. Second, it was warm inside which is never a nice thing in Texas. When we got home the bread was soggy and left us with really wet sandwiches thar fell apart. The flavor was good, but wet sandwiches really aren't my cup of tea. I really liked their Cherry Limeade out of their fancy soda machine. I also really like their Hot sauce collection. $20 for 2 combos wasn't a bad price either. Just wish when they steamed their buns they didn't come out dripping. read more

Great place, looks small from the outside but has a lot of sitting area, the service was fast, and the employers we're friendly. The subs my husband and i got were good they added plenty of steak, one thing i would say is to maybe add extra chesse, the chesse melts pretty fast and with the overflow of steak, green peppers, onion and mushrooms, you could barely taste the chesse. The best subs in town. Period. I pass 5 sub places from my home to get to this one. Yup, that's what I wrote last year when I gave it 5 stars No more. It seems lately, every time I go in there, there is a new crew. Turnover there is awful. Unfortunately, it takes a while for a new crew to get up to speed, and I have waited 20 minutes one time, 15 minutes the next, and the last time, cancelled my order after 20 minutes, because it looked like the poor new guy was overwhelmed and had not even started my order. Crossed this place of my list, used to go there once or twice a week for a year, have not been back in a month. The consequence of this turnover is also that the quality and consistency of the food is lacking, even if I where willing to wait half an hour for a sandwich. The management needs to get a clue. The economy in Houston is good enough that trying to hire people for 29 hrs a week for minimum wage, except for unskilled work like bussing tables or dishwashing, is a sure fire way to kill a viable business. With only 2 people running the restaurant at dinner time, you need skilled people making sandwiches during the dinner rush (6-7 people!), not the inexperienced, slow and untrained personnel that seems to cycle through every other week. read more

Now the reason I don't remember is because we talked about soooooooooo much. Mind you I'm from Detroit and been in Houston 1 yr and this was my first time at the restaurant. Reason I came was because my brother said it was good and I wanted something different not to mention I have the app and received free drink and birthday sandwich. but the young man was very patient with me and even let me sample a few things. Today was my third time picking up lunch at Firehouse subs. The first couple of times the service was a bit slow, but today it was great. I forgot to catch her name (!), but the girl with the brown hair in a ponytail that took my order was awesome. She was so friendly and when she wasn't taking orders or welcoming guests that walked in, she was cleaning tables and always smiling. I totally appreciate that type of attitude and work ethic as a former waitress & bartender. I got the turkey sandwich... I'm telling you the deli meat is where it's at here at Firehouse. SO GOOD. It's good too because the sandwich is 8 in. long instead of 6 in. like Subway, so I like to eat half now and half later! I also like coming here really for their cool soda fountain that has a ton of different flavors.. However today they were out of quite a few selections. I have to say, the service here is awesome! I'm 8.5 months pregnant, and I ordered a turkey sandwich for a friend. The girl at the counter asked if it was for me, and when I told her no, she responded with, "Oh ok, I was going to have them cook it longer for you if it was," referring to my bump. That kind of thoughtfulness goes such a long way for me, and the fact she even knew it could be an issue shows that these people watch out for their customers! This includes names on the sandwich boxes and delivered it all on a Saturday morning. Every time I come to this location I'm disappointed by the waiting time but I just ignore it because the sandwiches taste great. However today I came in during a slow hour (as in I was the ONLY customer) and received no greeting from the two men working, only weird looks and mumbling between them. I walked up to the register and did not receive a "hello" or "how are you doing" or even a bare-minimum "what would you like today". I got nothing, I had to basically start the entire transaction myself. The boy working the register was VERY rude; he had a nasty attitude which included mumbling, smirking, interrupting, ignoring and laughing at what I said. When I told him my name for them to call out, he smirked at me and said nothing back. He just handed me my receipt and turned around to do whatever it is he deemed more important than taking care of his customers. It then took about 20 minutes for them to make 1 medium size sandwich. Obviously the boy did not even bother writing my name down (even though he asked for it) because the other guy ended up just saying "ma'am" until I walked up and got my sandwich. Like I said, usually I ignore the long wait times because I work in the restaurant business and I understand that sometimes food takes longer to prep/cook than people expect, but rest assured I will never be returning to this location solely based on how I was treated today. I hope this review shows management that they need to do a better job at training their employees on customer service because this was ridiculous. read more
