We went there two weekend in a row, as we found their basic breakfast to be entirely decent. The breakfast included, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and a pancake. The price was $14 or around that, and each item was good. We were served well and returned this past weekend, this time, for lunch. I had their Country Fried Steak that came with 2 side (I picked fried okra and mac & cheese), while my guy chose their bacon cheeseburger with a salad/ranch dressing (he did not want rings or fries offered). And 2 sweet teas (really, really sweet). With tip, the total was $37. My steak was enjoyable, but then again, I've got the pallet of a 16 year old (my teen years are long gone). I ate the last half as a 61 year old would and re-thought my initial reaction: The quality of the steak was bad, the breadcrumbs were too salty, but the cream gravy could have been a beverage for me (Yes that was good). The sides I picked stunk. Sorry. Mac and cheese was old, not anywhere near fresh, trust me stay far from it. Okra was oil surrounded by bread crumbs. I asked for cornbread because she offered bread as well- and to my disappointment, she brought a burnt waffle on a plate. Not sure if there was any cornbread in it, as it looked so unappealing. I did not ask her to correct that, it wasn't worth it. My guy fancies himself as a Cheeseburger Critic (he was a cook at Sizzler's in Queens in his youth, so he knew a thing or two). Now, the burger he received was huge by fast food standards (I simply stopped buying that crap years ago). I gauged him and he was trying to be fair-minded. He ate the whole thing but said it was a big struggle. The meat was a less-than good quality, it was not cooked as ordered (note to the cook-there is a big difference between medium rare and well-done). We were told that this location had gone downhill for a variety of reasons, but we wanted to experience it for ourselves. Okay, we have been there and based on 2 visits, we are probably not going back there. Want a great big juicy burger? About 2 minutes from Frank's on Richmond Ave and Kirkwood is JLB - burger is about $2 more but they're 100% better. read more

About the third time after that, though things started changing, most notably the hashbrowns were mushy. The next time we went again same story so we started looking for another nearby location for breakfast. Tried Frank's again this morning and it was worse than ever. So three strikes and you're out. Came here to have breakfast with my sister and the whole experience was HORRIBLE! Our server Leo, (woman) was very rude and short with us. We asked her for hot water and we got warm, we asked for hot syrup and we never got it! Don't expect a quiet brunch, it's family friendly so expect loudness. If you looking for something to drink (alcohol wise) menu is very limited and weak. I would love to be answered by management. We have been to Frank's 3 weekends in a row for lunch and have had the worst service with a non caring management. The server ( Jahny) was sweet but she did not understand our order and she tried her best but the manager turned a blind eye to our inconsistent service. We spent over $200 in 3 weeks but unless we are contacted by Frank's Restaurant we will not grace your restaurant again. I ordered breakfast this morning via third-party delivery. I ordered a kid's breakfast with eggs, ham and grits. I also ordered a side of French toast. The food arrived promptly and was still hot. The restaurant also sent a brown bag with containers of syrup, powdered sugar, and butter. I guess my only quibble would be that the ham/egg/grits breakfast was supposed to be a kid's breakfast, but I was charged for and received an adult portion. I understand that sometimes things get lost in translation when you use a third-party. All in all, I was happy with the taste of my food , especially the light and fluffy French toast. read more

I come here often. I am an early bird & i know that they open at 7am. I'm usually in there around 9am . When dinning in you seat yourself, the staff is always quick to come over & service you. Today they were playing music which was nice to have in the background. I ordered the waffles & wings! which are my fav!! that waffle is always made to perfection & the CHICKEN IS FRIED AMAZINGLY! We came back to Franks after several years to see if the decline in this once-excellent Texas diner has reversed. Alas, no. The foul stench is fixed, thankfully, after a repaint/remodel. But service was slow, and discourteous Four of us went for breakfast mid-week. A slow time with only two other tables. Despite asking for hash browns to be well done, and having it confirmed, they came under done and we asked to have them actually cooked well done as expected. Somehow that took 12 minutes, by which time the omelet was cold. Having both be served hot is apparently a step too far . Since the rest of our party had already finished eating we canceled that part of the order Not to be left with an average experience, our waitress instead determined to really leave us with something to remember : the omelet came off the bill but the $1.50 corn bread got put on it. It's such a stupid move because (a) that 1.50 converted a mediocre meal into a bad experience and (b) I just subtracted the corn bread from the tip anyway and (c) everyone we tell the story to ends up chuckling because they've seen poorly run places like this, then they follow up with, "what was the name of the place again?" But for the first time I brought my wife here because I bragged so much about my experience just to have her card overcharged $15 after I had already left a nice tip ! I was looking for some fried southern comfort food and found it! The service was great & the restaurant was clean. Looks like the manager runs a tight ship. If you're looking for fast food or quick orders you won't get that here, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was hot & fresh. I ordered the chicken fried chicken & waffle. Yum! This is definitely a place to visit with your family on a nice afternoon. There's never really a lot of people, which I like. I do wish they didn't close so early. The employees were nice and sociable so I was happy about that. I used their bathroom and it was only two stalls and one sink so a line developed quickly. The customer policy is not great. Due to pregnancy, I was unable to eat what I order because of the smell and the way it looked. I just wanted to change my order to something I can eat. I was told by manager couldn't switch out for something else. I ended up paying for what I didn't eat plus what I changed to. This should have been made known at front door and at seat not at the end of my experience at checkout. Came here around 10am for Father's Day and spent over $100 for slow service and bland food! Never again! Dericka our server was slow!! Once she took our order we never saw her again for about 29 minutes. Brought our food then took forever to bring syrup and napkins even when asked repeatedly. Friendly staff and delicious food. I came here to get an omelet for breakfast. I decided on the meat lovers omelet. An omelet made with ham, bacon and sausage. It came with either toast, grits, or fruit I believe but all I wanted was the omelet. It was a three egg omelet. The omelet was delicious, just very small. Keep that in mind when you are ordering. They could have put more filling in it. Food here is made to order and around 7 people start coming here in droves. They have a lot of regulars. This restaurant tried to illegally deny access to my service dog because I didn't have a fake service dog card. The manager at the restaurant was very rude in the process of denying access to my service dog. I personally do not support businesses that do not follow the Americans with Disabilities Act. I am mostly posting this in hopes that the owner or management at the restaurant become educated on the legal requirements regarding service dogs and educate their staff so that future service dog users do not have the same experience I had. However, until proper steps are taken in training their staff, this serves as a warning for service dog users and as encouragement for people that want to support the disabled community to not give money to businesses that break ADA laws. Cloned my card. I went here after school just needing and decided to order sandwich; it wasn't that bad. The service was good too. My issue is that someone from the establishment cloned my card and stole $200 to trade stocks. Can you imagine when I went to school the next morning only to find $200 missing from my card? I didn't eat, so my review is based only on the experience that led me to leave rather than even order. I entered the place and noticed the list of specials at the front, so I began reading it. One of the women in the back yells, "Good morning! Just sit down sir." I was a little taken aback because after all it's a diner. You're supposed to get a little brashness with your meal. My main issue was the smell though. I can't stand restaurants that smell either like strong cleaner (Fabuloso) or like all the counters were just wiped off with the same rag they've been using for a week. This one had the latter smell. I pushed on and sat at the counter, thinking the smell of food would drown out the other smell. It didn't. I wasn't interested in smelling dirty dish towel throughout my meal, so I left. This is no indictment of the Frank's establishment. I've eaten multiple times at the original location and its sister diner basically around the corner--both on the East side of town. They're always bustling with business, friendly staff, and great food. And no dirty rag smell ever! read more

We stayed in the Galleria last night, and had to stop in at Frank's on our way back out to the Westside. The hubs wanted his Frank's fix bad for his Father's Day breakfast. I had the French toast covered in bananas and strawberries, with bacon. Hubs had the Chicken fried steak, with hashbrowns and bacon. And of course we had to get the biscuits.
