Paulie over to the side of the road and give these sandwiches a try... they're delicious. One of my fave sandwich shops in Houston, large and good value and makes Subway and other chains taste absolutely awful. More people should give them a try as soon as possible.

Work team placed an order for pick up - some people got the Reuben, another got their Philly - and I got the grilled chicken pita. It was very good - filled with grilled chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, and pickles inside a pita wrap. Serving size was pretty big and quality was decent! Recommend for lunch!

    The muffing best muffuletta!

I've been on an effing hunt for a good muffuletta in Houston. What is it, you ask - a hot sandwich of Italian cold cuts grooving in mayo with olive spread. The whole muffuletta is the size of a cross-section of a basketball - it is muffing big. And it is so. Dang. Good in its sharp, chopped-olive glory that I had a small one for lunch and went back for the big one for dinner and then some. It's only $2 in difference but the quantity increase from the smaller sandwich to the full-size thing is by an order of magnitude. Frankly it's too salty for me to eat by itself - I grabbed another baguette from the HEB next door to chow with it. But! The flavors are so amazing that I will be back again and again for this delicious sandwich.

Let's have a moment of silence for Potbelly and Subway! Paulies Poboys is where it's at. Fast, friendly service with DELICIOUS sandwiches! They offer a goid variety of different sandwiches hot and cold. Very yummy! The bread: I love that the bread is a bit crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Now, this isn't a thick bread. It's thin so you won't feel super guilty about the carbs or you won't need to scoop the middle out. The sandwich: I was craving meat so I went with the turkey, ham, bacon, and provolone sandwich with mayo. They give you a lot of meat and cheese. The sandwich was a good size. I ate a fourth and it was very filling. The bacon was smoky. Good flavor. The chips: The brand was Dirty and the salt n vinegar chips were tangy and potent. They also carry Zaps and Lays. They offer House of Pies pies. I got a sweet potato pie even though I don't like sweet potato pies. Every now and then I want to see if I will like it if I try another brand but I still don't like it. It was fresh though. I will be back soon.

The food was good and the service was nice, however I didn't appreciate the staring of me taking my first bite and asking me how is it. Kinda awkward if you ask me... I had no idea who the women was but she was sitting in front of me. She just watched me eat and asked me questions like "How was the first bite? Is it still good? How'd you hear about us? Be honest, on a scale of 1-10 how great is it?" I normally don't mind these things but it was a little disturbing for someone just trying to enjoy their lunch. Maybe asking when I'm through eating, rather than as I'm taking the first bite... Besides all that noise, the turkey mufalleta was good and had good flavors. Just wish the olive salad had more of a tang to it, but that's just a personal preference. Would come back, but I don't like to be bothered and interrogated as I eat. It's awkward.

I happen to stop by Paulie's Poboys to see how the sandwiches were and also I wanted to try something new too. The one thing I noticed right away was the feeling of a nostalgic sandwich shop with the sandwich board menu, the shelves for pickles and jarred items, and an open area to pick chips and drinks as well. I had to ask first for a suggestion on what would be a good choice. I was told by the manager behind the counter I should go with the supreme, if I was really hungry. I chose that and also the Philly. I am eating the Supreme right now and I can say this is a really good choice for sure. The Supreme has, "Extra imported ham, extra salami, extra provolone cheese, chow chow, mayo, & pickles. Also one thing I really thought was really cool was the art on the wall with the Houston team logos. This was a nice visit and I will definitely stop by again to try more of the selections. On a side note, this is actually my high school friend's family business. I was reminded because of my sister played basketball with her. It was a surprise to me and now I remember from way back. Paulie's also has a location in Bellaire.

    CUBAN POBOY

I've been on the hunt for a good Cuban for months. I've had Cubans from several different restaurants, most of them from actual Cuban restaurants. I've left disappointed almost every time. Each sandwich was missing something that Cuban sandwiches are "supposed to" have. Fast forward to today. I saw when looking at their menu that they had a Cuban that was right up my alley. I'm not big on mustard only so I usually like some mayo, to break up the "bite" from the mustard. This sandwich was everything. I happy danced while eating it and told my boyfriend I was going to drive back up to the restaurant to give the lady who made my sandwich a hug, COVID be damned. The sandwich couldn't have been more perfect. I will be back, for sure!! Side note: I do LOVE mayo so, that part was great!!

The guy behind the counter is nice, but this food was terrible. Maybe it was just my food. Hard bread, just overall not very good. I'm forcing myself to eat this right no Thank you to the owner for the response.

I had the philly hot Poboy combo. It came with a decent sized sandwich a bag of Zappa's chips and i fountain drink. No reflection on the restaurant I'm sure but my bag of chips were way to salty so I had to trash them. (Took my order to go) The sandwich had a nice ratio of bread to meat. There were onions and peppers and should have been topped with crunchy onions but i opted to not have those. The meat was seasoned well and tender. One of the peppers used had more of a tangy taste that I didn't really like. The guy behind the corner was very nice and accommodating. The place was really clean and organized, its a bit of a small space. There is in door seating. I may return to try another sandwich or possibly make adjustments to the philly.

    Cuban

Came in for lunch on a Friday around 12:30. No customers inside. I was reccomened the Cuban. Tasty, fresh and hot. Chips + drink came out to $14.50 , so a bit pricey but everything now a days is.. inside was very clean and they ladies working the counter were friendly.

I ordered the Cuban Poboys. it was very good just wish the sandwich was just a little bigger. The do carry some house of pies options for dessert which are very good.

Credence -- Where Live Fire Becomes Language and Houston Becomes Art…read more Credence isn't just a restaurant; it's a declaration written in flame. The moment you step inside, the room opens like a long exhale -- wide, airy, and confident, anchored by an open kitchen that glows with the kind of live fire that doesn't simply cook food but tells stories. This is Houston hospitality raised to its highest register, the kind that once earned a Michelin Star for service and still moves with the quiet pride of a place that knows exactly what it's doing. Chef Levi Goode's first brick‑and‑mortar feels like a culmination -- a fifth‑generation Texan with classical training finally building a home where both halves of his identity can stretch their legs. You taste the lineage in the smoke, the discipline in the technique, and the ambition in the menu, which reads like a love letter to Gulf waters, ranch land, and the elemental power of fire. Start with the seafood tower if you want to understand Credence's worldview: fresh, cold, towering abundance arranged with the precision of someone who respects the ocean as much as the plate. The smoked tuna dip is a quiet masterpiece -- silky, savory, and carrying a whisper of smoke that feels like a signature. But the deviled crab? That's where the kitchen shows off. The crab arrives tossed in a smoky tomato butter that clings to every fold, every shred, every hidden corner. Then comes the monkey bread -- warm, soft, pull‑apart temptation -- the kind of bread that makes you forget your manners and commit fully to the moment. But the flame is the true narrator here. It guides the entrées, sets the rhythm, and crowns the showpieces. The whole duck is a spectacle, a celebration, a feast meant for people who appreciate craft and aren't afraid of abundance. It arrives whole (no head), lacquered and glistening, with two legs transformed into confit jewels -- tender, rich, and decadent enough to make you pause mid‑bite. This is not a solo mission; bring a friend or two unless you plan to make a memory out of leftovers. If beef is your compass, the prime dry‑aged New York strip is a study in restraint and precision. Charred edges, deep flavor, and that unmistakable live‑fire signature that makes you wonder why you ever settled for anything cooked on a quiet grill. Dessert at Credence is not an afterthought -- it's a finale. The brown butter Bundt cake arrives warm and fragrant, crowned with chantilly cream that melts into every ridge. It's sized for a crowd, but sharing becomes a philosophical dilemma. Credence is not cheap, but it is honest. Every dollar is accounted for in intention, detail, and execution. This is Houston -- bold, generous, and unafraid -- translated into food, flame, and service. A restaurant that honors the land, the lineage, and the craft, all at once.

If you enjoy decadent food, Credence is the spot! The interior is refined but still welcoming and…read morelively with Southern charm. Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

The food is always great so no complaints there but my brave review is definitely the service. There were laughs, and background information on the restaurant, some of the chefs, and servers and it was also very interesting. We tried so many menu items. We had like three or four boards and several brunch items. Of course, I got the cucumber honey lemonade and I made my friend try it too. Lol. Delicious as always. 10 out of 10. However, I will say that the new battle of the board is not Great like I remember. They had super basic flavors and the ones they did experiment with different combinations were actually pretty disgusting.
