Make sure that you have an extra 45 mins to 1hr if you want to try the subs at this location, because that is how long you might be waiting for your meal. I went around 1PM on a weekday, so maybe this is their "rush" hour, but the order just took way too long. There was one cashier and three other people working on the subs, and yet, 45 mins went by from the moment I stepped in the shop to the moment I got my food. That's just too much for a place that's technically considered fast food. Additionally, the food is overpriced for what you get. I've been here several times and they have proven consistency with their food quality. Size, amount, and quality taste. Inside is always kept clean and staff friendly. I do like that they have a multi-coke product dispenser which allows you to choose whichever you like and continuous refills . My go to sandwich is hands down the "Smokehouse beef & Chester Brisket sandwich" They have 11 different options to choose from also salads and a kids menu. The cookie and brownies here are fantastic. It's almost a shame not to at least have one or the other prior to your departure. They have a great homemade BBQ sauce that I always ask for extra! Not to mention the mass amount of hot sauce variety to choose from. They also have a tailgating option for order. When I traveled more frequently on business (Mon-Fri every week) finding good familiar restaurant in Texas while on the run was important. The Firehouse a Subs was new at the time and every chance While on a trip would stop in and support a Florida based business. I was surprised to see that restaurant was empty and rating on Yelp wasn't very good, but decided to try it anyway. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly and sweet girl at counter that was very helpful in suggesting what her favorite sandwiches were. Process was quick and did notice that restaurant was spotless clean. They prepared food within reasonable time and bought it to table. Sandwiches were delicious, fresh, warm and very hearty with lots of meat that fares much better than some of the other more popular sub restaurants that gives you no more than one slice of meet. Man oh man I used to be an avid eater of Firehouse Subs back in college and didn't even realize that they had any locations in Miami. Once I found out I had to come for a reminiscent bite and like always brought my boyfriend along. We came an hour before closing on a weekday and was surprised to find it completely empty. I think the location for this store must be a little tough since it's tucked away in a back corner where you could only find it if you were truly looking for it. I ordered the medium sized Engineer but got it with brisket $6.99: melted swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and the "fully involved" (mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and kosher pickle on the side). SO delicious. My boyfriend went for the large (which really is huge and easily shareable with another) of the NY Steamer $7.99: brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo, and italian dressing. This is usually my go to but I'm so glad I changed up this time though both sandwiches were delicious. The reason I can only leave three stars though is because there was a couple issues with my experience here. The person I believe to be the manager took my order so I would assume he would know proper pricing and such so I was very confused by our bill. You can upgrade your sandwich with a combo deal but instead for us he individually charged everything (our chips, soda, pickle) so that our bill came out to be pretty expensive. When I tried to point this out he waved us off and simply walked away... The other issue was it took way too long for our sandwiches to be made. We were the only people there and must've waited a good 15-20 minutes for our food to be prepared with three able people behind the counter which I found to be pretty unacceptable. I was looking forward to trying their subs; however, I must say that I wasn't impressed. First off the size of the subs in our case we ordered the medium size, were so small that when we got home and opened the bag we immediately thought that these subs were not going to fill us. The price was ok I guess for the size sub, but definitely not what we expected. I also didn't like the wait time, we waited 10-15 mins for 4 subs, I think that was too long. I was totally disappointed. The only good thing I can say about my experience is that their brownies are really good. I ordered two subs online one of them need to be very specific since it was for a person with severe allergies. We simply needed white bread, bacon, lettuce and tomato which is not what we got. You decided to add turkey and ham to the sub plus cheese. If the child that the sub was ordered for would have eaten it he would of had a severe allergic reaction! I was not impressed with this place or their subs. Not one bit! I went with my friends and we decided to give it a try. I ordered the "small" steak and cheese. First, they don't joke about the sandwich being small, it's only 4 inches and it's $5, and chips are $2. So right off the back it was a bad start because the sandwiches are over-priced. When I placed my order she warned me they didn't have onions but they did have green peppers so I requested them on the sandwich. Then when the order came out the tiny sub had very little meat! And NO green peppers! Come on! I was so disappointed. My sandwich was all bread. I had my friend try and she agreed and made a disgusted face. I had to request the peppers. The menu has plenty of sandwich option to choose. You start with the bread which comes in white or wheat. They the size medium is eight inches and large is twelve inches. I had the large meatball sandwich on toasted white bread. The meatballs were tender and juicy and it didn't taste like it was made from a frozen plastic bag. It was made with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. Tasted very good. I also got their medium Hero sandwich on toasted white bread. The Hero is made with ham, turkey, and roast beef topped with mayo lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. My mom liked it. This place is definitely better than Subway and it's worth a try. read more

Finally made it to one of these to try the subs I have heard about. Place is new, big & clean. Service was good. Hubby went for the steak and cheese and I chose the Italian. We both ordered large sizes and made one of them a combo. $22 total, pricier than subway for example. We both felt the steak and cheese was definitely better than the Italian. It was juicy and very tasty, a sub I'd come back here for. The Italian was ok but I felt it needed something. Perhaps more toppings would have helped (cucumbers, banana peppers, olives, something!). It also had a bit more ham than I prefer but my husband enjoyed it. Glad we have one of these in kendall. Will be returning to either try a diff sub or simply have another steak and cheese. After driving by this place pretty much every week for a year, we decided to give it a try! It's tucked in the corner by the yogurt place (Pinkberry, I think?) and is also visible from the main road. We ordered two subs: a meatball, and a (can't remember the name to save my life - but it had ham, salami, cheese, and a delicious sauce!) only one of our sandwiches was warmed up, (I'll give you two guesses which one it was!) yet we still waited an awfully long time to be served. The meatball sub was good. Something about the smell of it kept reminding me of minestrone soup while I was eating, but I love minestrone so it wasn't a turn off! The other sub was delicious. Their standard subs come heated, but we asked for this one to be cold. Everything about it was delicious. There was a sauce (possibly honey Dijon or something along those lines) that was absolutely wonderful. The bread was good, the cold cuts were good, and overall it was a well put together sandwich. I think if you're looking for a place to grab a quick meal, you should hit up a Subway, but if you've got some time to kill, this is a great option! read more

I ordered the Club on a Sub sandwich combo. The menu noted that the combo was over 1000 calories, but it didn't stop me from eating the whole thing. Although, I do appreciate the info because I was able to update my calorie counter (good thing I skipped lunch). The subs are stuffed with a good amount of meat. I thought it was a great sandwich. Everything was layered on perfectly and I appreciate they don't pack an excessive amount of lettuce in there. I am glad they have Firehouse in Kendall. I used to eat this all the time when I lived in Orlando a few years back. In my opinion the hot subs are the way to go. They have a a pretty good menu and the subs are pretty flavorful. My go to sub is the meatball. The steak and cheese is yummy and the beef and cheddar brisket sub is super tasty if your into sweet bbq sauce. It can be pricey if you are used to Subway but the food portions are large and you will leave quite satisfied.
