I got the Aram sandwich, but unfortunately it had a strong industrial refrigerator taste to it. Not good at all. My husband got the Jholano's sandwich and he liked his. The best hidden gem for real Italian subs in Miami! They are just off of US1 tucked away in a little corner of a strip mall. There isn't much decor but the food is the star here. You can sit outside to enjoy or take away. Staff are always friendly and working hard perfecting each bite. This rime I had the 6pm in Tuscany. Served on Strecci Doppio Bread, the feature is a chicken cutlet, seasoned just right and topped with mozzarella, romano, arugula, tomato, onion, pesto and mayo. Since I don't eat pork. I signed subbed the sopressata for slicked turkey. The end result = delicious!!! The meal was delicious and I got to enjoy the second half later for dinner. Flavor was okay, but for the price you would expect a decent amount of meat and cheese. Instead it was light on both, which made it feel underwhelming. The real issue was the service. After placing my order, one of the girls literally told me, "go wait outside and come back in 5 minutes." The tone was dry and came across harsh and rude. The tables were another problem. Every single one was covered in ants, so eating there was not really an option. To top it off, the building itself is very run down and gives off old, dirty motel vibes. Bottom line: The sandwich itself was fine, but definitely not worth the price. I got the 3AM in Rome and really loved it. though I was a little disappointed they forgot the hot honey (luckily, I had some on hand!). It was still delicious. So, I followed the hype (from Instagram) and visited Jholano's finally, thankfully on a cold and rainy Sunday so the wait for their sandwiches was actually only about 10 min. Let's start off with the Good: Jholano's is a small (and I mean small) sandwich shop tucked inside of what used to be an old condominium building in Coral Gables (look for the red door). They are very small and so if you come when they're busy be prepared to wait and possibly wait outside as the inside can probably only fit about 10 people comfortably before feeling claustrophobic. You order at the front counter and then wait for them to call your order when it's ready. Seating is outside (in what used to be the pool area for the old condo now covered by black tarp :/) There's ample seating (two large picnic tables) and several smaller tables that can sit 2-4 comfortably. The sandwiches are quite large so if you're not super hungry, I definitely recommend sharing one with someone. You definitely pay for the sandwiches at an average of $20 per sandwich they definitely aren't cheap. We for the Il Primo which had: Turkey, Italian dry salami, fig jam, burrata, truffle glaze, olive oil, salt/pepper, and arugula between two big piece of Focaccia bread. My only complaint here is that this is a cold sandwich (which I prefer) but the Focaccia was also cold (as in refrigerated cold) and this bread does not lend itself well to being served cold. My recommendation here would be to ask if they can lightly toast the bread and then prepare the rest of the ingredients cold. Overall the sandwich was pretty solid, definitely a lot of food but I could've eaten one to myself but then been uncomfortably full lol. They have a few different drinks to choose from such as Dr. Browns soda's, regular soda, San Pellegrino, and water and juices. Service was nice and the guys making the sandwiches seem super focused on their craft which is awesome. The Bad (or just things they could improve): Ambience inside, I understand it's a small family run sandwich operation but livening up the place with some flair wouldn't hurt and it would make the potential long lines a bit more tolerable. Please consider lightly toasting or freshly baking the breads for the sandwiches that are cold, the cold bread, especially focaccia isn't really the best. If you haven't considered already, please add beer to your establishment as I think this could add a nice extra bit of draw to the location. There are some great craft Italian beers that would go well with sandwiches on the menu! Add more seating outside or a covered area where people can wait in line when the place gets crowded. Other than that love that there are places like this that exist! Will be back to try more of their sandwiches as the menu is quite big and each sandwich seems to be worthy of a try. This is a very small Italian sandwich shop with very little seating outside behind the shop. The parking is really non-existent, so just plan on paid street parking. Your best bet is to order ahead online. However, if you just walk in, go to the terminal and place and pay for your order. This time I got The Jholano sandwich and added both the chicken cutlets and the stracciatella because it's locally made and the chicken cutlets are juicy. It turned out to be a 5+lb sandwich and the guy who made it was impressed with all the options (see my pic). You can get creative, but your best bet is just to order one of the standard sandwiches. The bread is fresh and terrific, and the ingredients are excellent. I just wish they would get a larger location with better parking. read more

BUT, my only reservation about this place is the price -- I grabbed lunch for myself and ordered a sandwich and a bag of chips. My total was $32 which I think is outrageous. I wanted to visit because I'd heard so many good things and watched a handful of Instagram reels. Lol I have every desire to return, but frankly not sure I'll be able to afford coming again. I really wanted to like Jholano's but unfortunately my visit fell short. To start, they have a digital kiosk where you can order your sandwiches I was not informed at any point that this was the proper way to order a sandwich and was standing in front of the cash register for about 3 minutes while being ignored by a staff member standing right in front of me. The staff was continuously making sandwiches, which was a good sign, however some direction as to how to order a sandwich would've been appreciated. This brings me to my second point. The staff never once looked at me or my girlfriend when we walked in. We were the only ones there and not once did we hear a hello, or can I help you...or anything. They seemed either upset or annoyed that they were at work. In regard to the sandwiches, they were good, however, I did find it pricey. I understand that the quality of the food is much higher than other sandwich shops, it's a tough pill to swallow to spend $65 on two sandwiches two sodas with an 18% tip that wasn't really earned. I respect restaurant workers so I always tip regardless. You place your order on a large iPad. We ordered The Jholano sandwich and the Il Tradizional sandwich. The total (with tip) was ~ $50. That's the only thing I was bothered about and took off 1 star. Prices are a little insane. And by a little, I mean a lot! The sandwiches were good, but you can go elsewhere in Miami for the same, if not better sandwiches. However, what stood out is that the sandwiches were a little bit different. Arrived Saturday for lunch and thankfully we got there before the rush. We ordered three sandwiches and had to wait almost 30 minutes. Something to keep in mind when placing an order. We ordered the jholano and the Aram classic. The jholano was really good. A bit too much fig, it did result in the bread becoming a bit soggy. The fig spread is the main thing you taste on the sandwich. We changed the bread on the aram for focaccia and it was great. Found out about this deli from social media. I will say a lot of the "influencer" posts are a bit misleading with the amount of meat and cheese they had. The sandwiches we ordered were on the small side considering the price. Wow. Believe the hype, Jholano's is legit. I've been hearing that this spot serves some of the best sandwiches in Miami and made my way there yesterday. There's a red door tucked away on the side of an apartment complex on US1. Seriously, if you didn't know you were looking for a deli you would totally miss it. The deli is really small, and they have a few patio tables where you can sit outside. I'd def suggest this as a to-go spot. You can order in person or online. We ordered online and by the time we left the beach and arrived at the deli, our food was ready. We got the 7 am in Milano and the 6 pm in Tuscany. Both were ridiculously good but I loved my 7 am because the mix of truffle burrata with the spicy Italian meats was divine. Jholano's gets everything right. The bread is the perfect texture- soft but not too soft that it gets soggy. The ingredients are top notch. And personally the wrapping in butcher paper is the cherry on top. After reading so much about this hidden sandwich spot in Coral Gables I had to check it out. And yes as most people, I had a hard time finding it. Located inside an apartment building and without any large signage the only reason I spotted it was the large signature red doorway. Parking was mostly street side. I popped in just as they opened and was the first one there. Small little place but they had outside seating in the back which somewhat seemed like the apartment building's pool deck. They have a self order kiosk but I already knew what I wanted. I ordered The Jholano sandwich because I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combos. This sandwich which had prosciutto, salami and mortadella along with brie and fig jam was served on a focaccia bread. They get it nice and toasty and add after warming it up the arugula and balsamic vinegar. My mouth is watering again just writing this. It truly was delicious. But I will say before I took a bite paying close to $25 dollars for a sandwich I almost had a conniption fit. I understand everything is going up in price but really?!? The sandwich size was average about 6" but for the price I was expecting it loaded with meats and it wasn't. I shared with my wife and we both felt it was not worth the cost and both ended up still hungry. Was it delicious? Yes. But was it something we could probably do at home at a third of the price? Absolutely. If budget is not a word in your vocabulary then I highly recommend Jholano's Deli. I'm giving it 5 stars in taste...2 stars in value. So I'm averaging out to 3.5.
