Wife brought me a sub for my lunch. It was full of a lot of cold cuts and vegies. I tried to pick it up to take a bite. Mayo and other condiment's spilled out eyewear and was the most sloppy assembly of a sub I have ever tried to eat. I have been seeing the TV ads for the new pepperoni pizza meatball sub and decided I wanted to try it. Unfortunately, there are no Firehouse Subs where I live and had to wait until I was in Mount Vernon for shopping to try it. Today I was shopping at Costco and decided to try the pepperoni pizza meatball sub! The Mount Vernon location on College Way offers very limited indoor seating, take-out, and uses GrubHub for delivery. It took about 10 minutes from the time I ordered until I got my take-out order. There were a couple orders ahead of mine. If you get your order to go like I did, don't make the mistake of opening the container upside-down like I did. I failed to notice that there is writing on the top and opened it with the bottom up. Fortunately, the only thing that happened was some of the sauce was smeared on the lid and the pickle juice (from my pickle spear on the side) leaked out on me. As for taste, I thought the pepperoni didn't add much to the sub. Next time I will just order one of the other meatball subs, or possibly the Philly Cheesesteak sub. The pepperoni had a nice taste and they were extra large, but I just didn't feel like it meshed well with the meatball sub. This was my first experience eating at a Firehouse Subs and I look forward to exploring more of their menu. read more

this was my second time getting food from Firehouse Subs. I ordered through door dash. The food was delicious and door dash was great. The problem was with the the employee of Firehouse that answered the phone. I called to let them know that despite the sticker on the bag stating my order was double checked for accuracy, they forgot the pickle spear. The girl who answered the phone couldn't have cared less. Offered me a free pickle on my next order which I don't want. I won't be getting any more from this store again thanks to her snarky attitude. This is the first time I have tried this chain. I have to say the sandwich is pretty good at a decent price. I used the drive through, I did not have to wait long for the sandwich, and I tried the new prime rib sandwich, with no modifications.....I am going to try this place again, I think it is worth the effort. read more

This place is the worst. Drive in closed most of the time due to staffing, they say. Have to go inside always. Staff that is there does not really care about service or what they are doing. Food is sub par. This is a chronic issue with this store as anytime I go back, after months going by, it is the same thing. Poor management, poor service, poor quality. Totally done with this store. Stopped by for a quick lunch. Wanted to try something different other than jersey mikes and subway for a change. This place was awesome! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Courtney took my order and even came around to the tables later to ask if everything turned out right. Most sandwich shops don't do that so that was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. Very clean establishment and fast service. There additional sauces available at the end of the counter with a great variety to choose from in different spice levels. You can Earn points through their app and they offer a military discount where you get a free drink and chips. Super dirty location. Seriously if you work here and you're reading this, stop and go clean the fountain drink machine, dump the trash next to it and for Christ sakes clean up the bathroom. Disgusting. Sandwich presentation looked the same as the inside of the restaurant. Sloppy mess with total disregard. Another unhappy, unsatisfied experience. The lady who is making sandwiches were rude and had a strong attitude. The spicy spice to go cup only had one cup left so I thought I could ask more for other people and I was going to use the last one. She only gave me one which was dirty had food sauce on it. So I said I can't use that. She took it and throw it in a aggressive way with rolling eyes. When I got my sandwich, she handed it to me. A large sandwich in a small bag and holing straight down. Like you are just put a bread in the bag. Umm I don't recall I ever had the way how she gave me the sandwich before. Oh no thank you, have a good day. Nothing. There was one stuff was cleaning the tables and was close to me when I got my sandwich so I told him she was very rude. He offered me to free upgrade to a combo. I said it's okay but thank you. He said he will talk to her. And now I am trying to eat my sandwich. They asked me if I want mushrooms, and I said yes. Guess what, there is no mushrooms so I guess she can't make food neither. Came in to the firehouse sub to have a bite to eat before we continue our road trip. As soon as we walked in the door the place looked really clean loved all the firemen theme and decor. They had a wide selection of sub sandwiches to choose from and children get their kids meal in a fire hat. Sandwiches were very delicious. Stopped in for a sandwich. The store was filthy. The soda dispenser was disgusting, tables were not wiped down, bathroom was bad. They had just opened and appeared to be fully staffed. So disappointed with this experience tonight. My family is new to the area and I couldn't wait to try it out as I used to work at one back in the day and have always loved their subs. Not only did they give me a completely different sub than I asked for, with onions and the side pickle I asked for none of, but they were all cold and soggy. There was an outrageous amount of mayo on all 3 subs (and I'm a mayo lover but this was disgusting). My daughter wouldn't even touch hers, as she's two and it's dripping from mayonnaise. Is it typical to wait at the drive-thru for 20 min? The first 10 minutes was waiting on the car ahead to get their food and the last 10 was to get our food. New location, same great taste and service. 100% worth a trip over. My husband and I are longtime Firehouse patrons from living in over states, and we feel the taste and service was seamless between the other, established locations and this new location. Plus, ya gotta love that the company donates to the local fire and rescue groups!! As expected, they have one of those crazy cool Soda machines that has like 100 drink options. They have a nice selection of chips, desserts, and chili to choose from, too. The dining area was very clean and well kept. I didn't visit the bathroom, but I assume it's clean, too. My husband got his usual Hook & Ladder and I got my usual Brisket. Everything was just as expected. Driving tip: the strip store location is accessible through the main strip mall parking lot behind it. Our first trip to Firehouse Subs in Mt Vernon was great! We ordered three large subs - a New York Steamer, a Steak n Cheese, and a Ham n Cheese. $34. It was fast and the staff were friendly. The subs were great. We all agreed that these have more meat than a comparable sub from Subway. There isn't anything to complain about after our first trip. 5 stars. This is the very best chain sandwich shop in Skagit Valley!!! I love the beef and cheddar brisket...it's so juicy and packed with flavor. The hook and ladder is another favorite of mine. All the sandwiches are warm but you can get them cold, and they have tons of stuff to add on. At the end of the transaction they ask if you want to round up to the nearest dollar to donate to the local fire and medical agencies. Great people, great subs! First visit I tried the brisket and cheddar sub and it was awesome. Next couple of tries is was ho-hum at best. I see the same thing happening that happened with Arby's Beef and Cheddar sandwich. When the restaurant opened there were generous quantities of meat and cheese. As time went on those quantities dropped off just like they did with Arby's. The result is a mediocre sandwich. I get that food cost is a major issue for a restaurant but personally I'd rather they raise the cost of the sandwich rather than cut back on what used to make the sandwich great. I gave up on Arby's over this issue many years ago and am about to do the same with Firehouse subs. They really aren't any better than Subway anymore. read more

The Mt Vernon store is hit and miss. When this place first opened, you would be greeted almost loudly welcoming you into the place. food was great, service great and never left disappointed. Then 2020 hit and things have slowly degraded since. Prices have junped, no more greeting, employees walking around as if they are bored. I had to repeat myself a few times when ordering, Lg Brisket on Wheat please. Oh you want a Smokehouse, no BRISKET on Wheat. Oh what size again? Staff actike they don't want to be there. Don't care, no customer interactions. I remember meeting the owner in the store many times early on. Now I never see him. But i am in usually later after meetings. But what made me upset was I tried stopping in 15 mins to close one night. Open sign still on, door locked. 1 car on drive thru. Nobody visible in the front. But sadly what upsets me throst is the quality of food has degraded. What was once was treated like a work of art is now a hurridly tossed together sandwich, that looks like a blindfolded 5 year old tossed it together. Bring back the cheery atmosphere and a staff that acts like they want to work, even if it's thatate shift. I'm going to try you guys a few more times and if it does not improve, I'll sadly never come back and when you opened I ate there 2-3 times a week till I tried everything on the menu. I love firehouse subs, I come here almost every day. I always order the Italian sandwich along with a soda. They're always very good and the people there are nice. But, there has been two occasions that I found something in my sandwich that wasn't supposed to be there. The first time was quite awhile ago. I took a bite and as I was chewing noticed there was something hard in my sandwich. It wasn't until it scraped my cheek that I took it out and realized it was a piece of plastic. I decided not to say anything about it sense it was the only problem I've had. Flash forward to today, I went to firehouse subs in the drive thru with my friend. As we were eating our sandwich I noticed my friend was pulling something out of her sandwich. Weaved into it was the longest black hair I've seen in food. It was very gross. The subs were horrible.. the bread was soggy. there was globs of mustard and mayonnaise that when you took a bite that is all you got with lettuce wrapped around it.... everything in the sandwich fell out when you picked it up as the bread was so soggy... Went there for lunch on a very busy day. We ordered 2 large subs, and neither one of them were right. One was a Corn beef brisket and the other was a pastrami. We made no changes to the Corn beef brisket, but yet it came with missing items off of it....the pastrami was suppose to just be meat, mustard and pickles.
