I came in for dinner and ordered the Hook and Ladder as it's my go to. The place was empty so I walked up to the counter. The person that helped me made me feel like I was bothering her, but the person that was making my sandwich was nice. The sandwich was delicious and totally hit the spot. I knew it was to good to be true. While traveling a few days ago eat at firehouse sub for the first time. Now back in Virginia tried the location habourview Suffolk. VERY DISAPPOINTING. WE ordered Thanksgiving sandwiches combo and Italian combo it was delivered with NO DRINKS,NO CHIPS AND NO CRANBERRY SAUCE ON SANDWICH. They just threw it together. While eating the Thanksgiving sub bite into a long string of hair I AM SO DISGUSTED been trying to call the store for 20 minutes straight line busy. Either phone is off the hook or someone just kicked back talking on it. Finally spoke with Carlos the manager the nect day. He was so nonchalant saying contact the delivery people.I told him what does the delivery people have to do with hair in my sandwich. So disgusting!! Also a bit slow than I expected my receipt check in was 5:36 pm on 12/20/19 with one small family that have their food already and two others that also have their food but at 5:55pm no sandwich to go yet. Okay...why is it that people in Virginia are so fast to throw a sub in a microwave? We ordered a steak for my spouse and I wanted the veggie. Got home and guess what? My first thought was why is this sub so flat and warm? I thought maybe the heat from the steak, after all they were both in the same bag. One bite and it became immediately clear. So the subs are awesome, however, you must be ready to wait 30 minutes! This has been the 5th time in a row that it's been over 28 minutes from in to out. So it's like a joke now and we do a sort of pool with 27 28 29 30 31 32 winner gets their sub paid for by the others. FWIW: it doesn't matter if you order 1 or 4 subs or if anyone is in there or not it's still 30 min. Well i have been back a few times since and to their credit subs took between 9 & 11 minutes! For those unfamiliar with firehouse you should know that about 10 minutes seems about right given their process and that they are hot subs. So BZ to firehouse for fixing the issue. I really enjoy Firehouse. If you want a hot sub, this is my choice of places to go. I usually get the hero or the club. Both of these subs are very tasty. I like the fact that they steam the meat so it is always hot and moist and never dry. I get my sub fully involved too which means with their recommended toppings like lettuce, tomato, and brown mustard I think. I usually ask them to drain the meat very well so that the bread does not get soggy. That is one thing that happens sometimes that is really gross. Definitely want it drained well. I also like that the subs come with a pickle. I love that pickle so much. I also like that you can purchase the pickle buckets and they are only like $2. I have found many uses for those buckets. read more

Had a terrible experience with this store ordered a large and a medium sub online and paid online. They did not have the meat for the cheesrsteak but made neither sub. Since I did not have my card with me they said they could not refund the order and I would need to contact corporate. After contacting corporate several time over 3 weeks they told me I would have to contact the store owner. At this point I would have been happy with any show of empathy. The owner called me and said I could get 2 large subs, just mention his name. When I called the store, the manager had an attitude and had to call the owner. When I got there the had made 2 mediums offered no refund and looked at me like I had did them wrong. I don't want them to try and make it right now. I don't trust them to make my food. I love Firehouse Subs and have never had a bad one yet. However I had a bad experience with bringing in a Fathers day special for a free sub that the employees wouldn't honor unless it was on paper (even though the offer said I could show it on the phone). I left mad and submitted a post about it after I got home. Since that time the owner contacted me directly and offered to make restitution so I have changed this post accordingly. Even the employees told me the manager told them not to accept it, my takeaway is.... next time I will ask them to call the owner. Firehouse subs still remains my favorite sub place because they always have generous portions of meat in their subs. read more

I just don't understand the point of ordering online 35 minutes prior to set pick up time if you still have to wait 15 minutes for your order to be ready when you get there. I usually have no problems coming into this restaurant, but today was ridiculous. The lady at the register acted like we bothered her when we were trying to place our order. The drink machine was out of almost everything, including ice. It took 15 minutes for us to get our food, and when we finally got it two of the mediums were 2 different sizes, but they said they were both mediums. We ordered a philly steak with mushrooms and got no mushrooms. When I asked for sautéd mushrooms I got ice cold one instead. This place was a joke today and i was highly disappointed. read more

The dining area is clean and so are the restrooms. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you order quickly and get everything you need. The food is always on point! I would give it zero stars but the system doesn't allow it. So my daughter bought a sub for me last Wednesday and it was made incorrectly.. I called them to advise them of the error and I was told that my name would be written down in their book and that the next time I came in they could make the sandwich over for me. When I got there today they told me I couldn't do anything without a receipt and since they didn't see my name there was nothing they could do for me.. of course that was unacceptable so I asked them to call a manager and the unprofessional general manager of the unprofessional and private organization did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.. after I told them I would not let this go since what they were doing was considered theft in my book, I told them if need be I would call the police to get a report and I was told by a smart mouthed little girl who worked there that her general manager told me to call the police .. the Police was called and when they arrived they could not believe that Firehouse didn't do whatever was needed to put a patch on the situation.. needless to say it won't end there.. sad and distasteful are the best words I can use to describe the little girl and the management at the establishment.. save your money and take it somewhere it is appreciated read more

Walked in to the restaurant with the line waiting to order six deep. Restaurant was fairly crowded only about half with food in front of them. Two groups of people walked away that were in front of us so we moved up to order. The cashier stated, "I want you to know it's about a 25-30 minute wait for food. I have 11 tickets in front of you." It appeared there were only 2 people making subs and just the cashier taking orders. Considering it was a Sunday at lunchtime, they were pretty unprepared. My family walked away as did the other two families behind us. We usually visit the Greenbrier location (which is phenomenal). Highly disappointed with this location. read more
