Happened to stop here about 20 mins before closing one evening wanting something simple and straightforward but hopefully different - I'm glad I did - was greeted with a smile and courtesy - it was extremely clean with no overwhelming odors of bleach etc so tells me always clean - ordered a medium Steak & cheese on white with everything - honestly wasn't expecting much since close to closing and I wouldn't be eating it for another 20+ mins - abit expensive to me but on par with other sub places and offerings - was greatly impressed and surprised despite the delay and late purchase the bread was remarkably soft and easy to consume (I don't have teeth) none of the bread was hard, the meat was soft and very juicy seems to be very good quality choice of meat with good quantities within sandwich - peppers were fresh and soft, I'd like more within the sub, didn't think to ask for more not sure standard amount - onions were plentiful and again soft and juicy fresh - the cheese was plentiful and melted within the sub - overall great quality sub and a pleasant surprise would highly recommend trying this great local sub offering - while there look at the history on the walls and bonus help support local firefighters read more

Went there for lunch last Saturday. I love really good subs. This was just so-so... So, the Italian sub is served hot, which isn't always my preference (I think most of their subs are served hot). I like the freshness of the cold cuts served cold. I will say that to their benefit, they don't microwave their sandwiches. They have a steamer they place the meats and cheeses into and then blast them with steam. It is a nice touch, much better than nuking things. Anyway, the bread they used didn't have much "personality" going for it. I love really crusty sub rolls with soft, pillowy insides. This was kind of a softer roll that didn't have any character. Kind of disappointing. The sandwich itself was dressed with mayo (my favorite condiment), but it really needed an acid note to balance the unctuous, fatty quality of the meat, cheese and mayo (hello vinegar...). The veggies just got lost and really didn't add a thing. I did request jalapenos on the sandwich, and unfortunately, they didn't add much (too mild). They do have one of those drink machines that offer what seems to be an endless choice of beverages (love those). There appears to be a cleanliness issue too. I got there around 12:30 and the floors were really dirty. The walls and vents could use some attention, etc. It just had the appearance of not being well kept. In summation, the place wasn't bad, but I can't say I'd go back anytime soon. read more

This was my first time eating at a firehouse Subs. It appeared they had plenty of options with lots of free add ons. They had three sizes from small, medium to large. It appears that all subs are prepared warm. I ordered the medium spicy chicken. I had two options for bread, white or wheat. The service was prompt and they were able to answer the questions I had. They have some soup options and plenty of chips to choose from as well. My sub was great tasting and spicy as advertised. The soup was average but I felt it was a little pricy for the amount I received. Overall a good experience and I would return. The dinning area was clean and picked up. The bathrooms were adequately supplied and clean as well. read more

Why 5 stars? It's the best (and if not the best, a very close second to Penn Station) in its niche. Which niche? Fast food sub chains, of course! I've had pretty much everything on their menu, and everything has been totally satisfying. I think FS does the meatball sub better than any other chain. It's an awesome sandwich, period. The pastrami (NY steamer?) is outstanding, also. The Italian sub, however, in my opinion, not so great. TAKE NOTE: Another cool thing is the row of hot sauces that you can sample. Some are mild and some are VERY hot. Personally, I would avoid trying the "10"s before you eat your sub...you may burn the HELL out of your tongue and, hence, be unable to fully enjoy your awesome sandwich! I would also AVOID the touch screen pop dispenser. Each time I've tried it, it's given me way too much soda water, and not enough pop syrup. If you're giving me that much soda, you better be giving me some cheap scotch to go with it. Firehouse subs is definitely worth a visit every now and again. read more

This place took a great product and solid service, got a huge following, then used this reputation to rip off all future customers. Their "large" is basically a foot long. Premium at you back $14 bucks. I complained because there was hardly any thing on the sandwich, they said it was 6 oz of meat, not even close, maybe 2-3 oz. Never again!! read more

What's this? Am I really reviewing a chain fast food restaurant? Hear me out! We popped in today, in the mood for a quick sandwich and a taste for something new. This recently opened, locally owned and operated franchise had been recommended by several friends so we thought we'd give it a try. The interior's red, black and white color scheme and layout immediately reminded me of five-guy's. There is a cute mural on the wall of the mudhen's stadium and a Toledo fire truck. Very cute. All of the subs looked pretty good, and I went with the "new york steamer" which includes Corned beef brisket, pastrami, provolone, mustard, mayo, and Italian dressing. My wife got the italian. We had to wait an oddly long time for our subs to be prepared. Thankfully the sandwiches were terrific! My sub instantly reminded me of my recent visit to Katz Deli in New York. No, of course it wasn't as good as Katz (nothing is) but the meat was REALLY flavorful and beautifully moist. The addition of a few different hot sauces, pulled from their huge variety of flavors really kicked it up several notches. As a hot sauce fan, it's great to be able to try new sauces, and make each bite a little different. If you're in the mood for a sub, and want something a little higher quality than the typical chains, definitely check this place out. But just don't do it if you're in a rush. read more

WOW! I must have been living under a rock. Tonight I made the top 3 best decision of 2015 and decided to go to Firehouse Subs. Let me tell you what, I have a new favorite restaurant. I wish I would have been the boss on that show "undercover boss" because the kid named RJ who helped me was a CHAMPION! The guy was full of positive energy and went out of his way to make one hell of a sub. Firehouse subs .... Keep doing what you're doing.... Entered your establishment and stood there for at least ten minutes. Two young ladies never acknowledge my boyfriend or myself. We stood by the order here sign waiting for a greeting or something!!! They did say something to the two people who walked in after us. We walked out and went to the nearest Subway where we were greeted with a smile!! We did arrive around seven o'clock this Sunday!! What is a five star review? A one star? Answer: the easy reviews. It's tougher to choose anything in between. I give Firehouse Subs five stars for accomplishing what I assume they set out to do: to offer quality subs at a reasonable price. I got the brisket; Patrick got the turkey bacon ranch. The brisket was, in a word, amazing. It is their signature sub and I expected it to be awesome, but it exceeded that. The meat was tender, the bread was great -- awesome sandwich. It was like a pulled pork sandwich in many ways. I modified Patrick's sandwich to the point that it is beyond commentary, but he ate it. Were we to stack them up against some kind of competition, I would say Penn Station, with the win going to Firehouse. I love this place. I've have quite a few items off the menu and they are all delicious. The bread is always fresh and combinations of flavors are always delectable. This is above jersey mikes or similar sub shops. I have never ordered from here and been disappointed. First time eating their subs; likely the last. I had the turkey bacon ranch sub, 8 inch. It wasn't bad-tasting, but it wasn't flavorful by any means. It was incredibly small too. Although 8 inches in length, it was like half the size of Subway or Penn Station sub's width-wise. I normally can't finish any sub in one sitting and I easily finished this and was still hungry. Firehouse Subs gives Jimmy John's, Subway, Quizno's and all other sub franchises a run for their money! The subs are deliciously steamed to perfection. The meat and cheese practically melts in your mouth. I have only had the Hook & Ladder, but I am excited to try more! This was my first time dining in, and the atmosphere made me love this place even more. They have this awesome futuristic (touch screen) pop machine that gives you 120 choices of beverages. They have an array of hot sauces displayed and labeled according to hotness. You can watch the game on their flat screen tv while dining. Also, part of all profits support firefighters. First time eating here and I would say there are probably 2-3 sub shops in Toledo I'd rather eat at. There was very little meat on my sandwich and no mayo even know the only topping on the brisket and cheddar is ... Mayo. I just don't think it's enough bang for the buck! read more

I love the firefighter theme as my grandparents were cops. i had the steamer. notice the rack of hot sauce they have numbered from 1-10 based on hotness they have a tv as well. oh wait and mini firefighter hats for the kids. what's not to love? and my lawd, who can forget the soda fountain from hell?!? it's got a touch screen with like 140 different kinds of soda :O a little expensive but that's why the lord made coupons. better than jimmy john's which is more expensive and isn't as good. and subway started out the exact same way. I can't say enough good things about this place. Me and the wife go here regularly and always thoroughly enjoy the food we get. We try something different every time and have never been disappointed with our choices. The little baked items that you can buy at the counter are also very delicious, we particularly love the brownie. The staff is friendly and welcomes you immediately when you get to the counter. I love the idea behind the restaurant as well with some of the profits going to help the fire departments. They are also the only restaurant I have seen so far in Toledo that has the create your own flavor pop machine. (I have no idea what it's actually called). But it's seriously cool. The only minor downside is it is a little more expensive then your average sub shop but the quality of the food and service make the extra cost completely worth it in my opinion. read more

Well, I had been bored with Subway and Penn Station, and was looking for a local sub joint to try when I read pretty good reviews of Firehouse Subs on Yelp. I decided to give them a try. I went on a Friday night at 6PM, and was prepared to wait for my to go order after reading previous reviews. The service was great as they had no problem when I up sized my sub since the price was so low. I ordered an Italian sub for my wife and a New York Steamer for myself. The service was so fast I only had time to fill a cup of their mild sauce and my order was ready!(after looking at the what seemed like 30 or so sauces). After getting home to try the subs, my wife couldn't believe how good hers was, and she liked mine too. She says she'd prefer that over Penn Stations greasiness ANYDAY! My sub was the best pastrami I've had...not too salty or spicy, but very juicy. Granted, I've never been to NYC, but it was SO good, it is now my fav sub shop locally! I can't wait to try their other subs. My only complaint: Why the heck didn't I try this place before?! I seen they've been here more than a year and are less than a 1/2 mile from my house. read more
