Need to provide some context for this review. I am traveling for work this week around various cities in Alabama. Yesterday i stayed in Tuscaloosa and wanted to try this restaurants location there. I ordered online and within got a call in which the manager indicated they were out of wings and could not fulfill the order, he asked if i wanted something else or just to cancel. Other things on the menu looked good but was really in the mood for wings which are my favorite food so i just canceled. I got an email asking for feedback so i filled it out. I did not leave anything negative but simply noted what happened and that i really wanted to try their wings but was only in town for the one night. Today i received an email from a managing partner noting that my refund would be processed within 5-7 days so that was nice that there was follow up confirmation. Additionally, he gave me a gift card to used next time i was in town, that is absolutely incredible customer service. I happened to be staying in Montgomery the following night and noticed they had a location about 10 mins from my hotel so below is my review of the highly regarded wings. The Managing Partner that provided me the gift card noted that the wings would blow me away, and let me tell you: he was absolutely right! They were absolutely incredible. All were very big and all smoked so perfectly they fell off the bone! Definitely a contender for the best wings i have ever had!! Buffalo sauce was also delicious. Order was ready in less that 30 mins which was also appreciated. My fiancé and I where seriously considering using Jim and Nick to cater our wedding. So we wanted to stop by and try some of their sides to make a final decision and I am so glad we did. The food was great, I had the bone in chicken and it had a great smoky flavor and he had the pulled pork!! ( he liked it but loved it more once he added there famous bbq). I was there early (6:30) Friday evening. Food was very good. I had a Carolina (mustard) bbq sandwich with bbq beans and mac and cheese. I was seated quickly (they were not busy) and my order was taken within 90 seconds of me sitting down. Food came out quickly. Bbq sauce for sandwich is served on the side (which i prefer). Plenty of meat in the sandwich. Beans were good and the mac and cheese was great. The atmosphere seemed a bit chaotic but stuff was getting done. Jim 'N Nick's is located a few blocks off the main Strip in Tuscaloosa and has a private parking lot. That's huge when trying to find a restaurant while moving your kid into school. Beyond that though, the BBQ was excellent here! Starting off with a beer and the cheese biscuits was a good way to go, especially with the temps around 100 outside. For an entree, I went with the pulled pork sandwich and a side of the Mac n cheese. There were 5 of us at dinner and everyone enjoyed their meals. The only issue on this night was that we were told that the "ordering system" wasn't working and it took quite a while for service. This was Thee Worst food I have eaten in a long time. Everything we had was unappetizing! Uggggggh we spent almost $60 and $58 was thrown in the garbage! Will never go back there.... This is a top notch Barbecue spot that could easily be 5 stars overall. The staff and ambience is welcoming and friendly and the expectation was very high and we weren't disappointed! The muffins were amazing and unique, corn bread muffins with honey and cheddar cheese , amazing. It didn't sound like cheddar would work either this combination but it really gave them a great taste. The wings were absolutely some of the best I have ever eaten due to the honey mango sauce. They were large, tasty and really good ... a few were a little tough and I'll review the cooking process why I didn't give 5 stars. The sauces, I tried them all , were all definitely 5 star and some of the best I have ever tasted. The honey mango is amazing and my favorite, the white sauce was by far the best white sauce I have ever tasted , the honey mustard was delicious and the traditional barbecue sauce was also one of the best barbecue sauces I have ever tasted.The sides were also really top notch , the baked beans were my favorite followed by the corn. The French fries were also really good as were the cornmeal breaded onion rings. The baby back ribs were the meatiest I have never eaten . I loved the ribs but they weren't anywhere near the top of my list simply due to the way they cooked. I could tell they weren't smoked / cooked long enough at low temperature and probably cooked too quick at a higher temperature . The meat was a little dry and tough and I believe the cooking process is the reason , the wings were also a little dry and tough. If these ribs and wings were cooked on an outside smoker , with the quality of their sauces they would be world class 5 star.I would absolutely recommend this place and anything on the menu snd am looking forward to my next visit in August. We go to Jim 'N Nicks at least monthly where we live in Georgia so I am very familiar with them and their menu. I typically get the pulled pork but this time I was in the mood for a burger. I ordered the double burger and unfortunately was disappointed. The patties were extremely dry and had no taste. I won't be ordering that again. Having said that, everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meal from the smoked turkey, to the sides and of course the biscuits. Came by the other day during lunch, and even though they were busy, they sat me down so quickly! The host's name was Sheyla; she had such a wonderful attitude and provided me to my table so nicely. The atmosphere was very family-centered, my server, Rebecca, had a smile on her face and was very polite. Their cheese biscuits were very moist and hot, tasted very fresh and cheesy! Happy to visit Jim 'N Nick's after years away from Alabama. And like the many meals during college it didn't disappoint. Came here on game day. Ordered the loaded macaroni and cheese without scallions. You can upgrade to brisket for $0.99 . The meal came with complimentary cheese biscuits and what looks like whipped butter. These were SO GOOD! It had a sweet aftertaste and were moist. Mac and cheese was good. The meat is nice and tender. Can't go wrong with Mac and cheese. It has good cheese sauce and even shredded melted cheese on top. The bbq sauce isn't your traditional thick sauce. Service was very slow to start, but our waitress made up for it with some extra biscuits. They call them biscuits, but they are more like a sweet and cheesy cornbread muffin. Either way, they were very good. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy on a Sunday night, but it looked like they were understaffed and not able to sit every table. My son wasn't a big fan of the Mac n cheese, but he enjoyed the pulled pork. I had a smoked chicken salad that I found to be quite tasty. The salad was nicely dressed and included a good amount of chicken. The smoked onions were an interesting addition that I enjoyed.
