My fiancé and I where seriously considering using Jim and Nick to cater our wedding. So we wanted to stop by and try some of their sides to make a final decision and I am so glad we did. The food was great, I had the bone in chicken and it had a great smoky flavor and he had the pulled pork!! ( he liked it but loved it more once he added there famous bbq). Our server was amazing and very helpful with many suggestions at the ready!! Very clean looking restaurant and cool small bar!!! Thank you Kate for taking great care of us and paying so much detail to the small stuff!!

I was there early (6:30) Friday evening. Food was very good. I had a Carolina (mustard) bbq sandwich with bbq beans and mac and cheese. I was seated quickly (they were not busy) and my order was taken within 90 seconds of me sitting down. Food came out quickly. Bbq sauce for sandwich is served on the side (which i prefer). Plenty of meat in the sandwich. Beans were good and the mac and cheese was great. The atmosphere seemed a bit chaotic but stuff was getting done. There were a lot of people picking up to go orders. it was getting busier when i left.

Jim 'N Nick's is located a few blocks off the main Strip in Tuscaloosa and has a private parking lot. That's huge when trying to find a restaurant while moving your kid into school. Beyond that though, the BBQ was excellent here! Starting off with a beer and the cheese biscuits was a good way to go, especially with the temps around 100 outside. For an entree, I went with the pulled pork sandwich and a side of the Mac n cheese. There were 5 of us at dinner and everyone enjoyed their meals. The only issue on this night was that we were told that the "ordering system" wasn't working and it took quite a while for service. Outside of this hiccup, it was a fun time at a good barbecue joint!

The food is always delicious when my boyfriend and I go. Service is great. The cheddar muffins are to die for. Their onion rings are sooo yummy. Highly recommend this place!

This is a top notch Barbecue spot that could easily be 5 stars overall. The staff and ambience is welcoming and friendly and the expectation was very high and we weren't disappointed! The muffins were amazing and unique, corn bread muffins with honey and cheddar cheese , amazing. It didn't sound like cheddar would work either this combination but it really gave them a great taste. The wings were absolutely some of the best I have ever eaten due to the honey mango sauce. They were large, tasty and really good ... a few were a little tough and I'll review the cooking process why I didn't give 5 stars. The sauces, I tried them all , were all definitely 5 star and some of the best I have ever tasted. The honey mango is amazing and my favorite, the white sauce was by far the best white sauce I have ever tasted , the honey mustard was delicious and the traditional barbecue sauce was also one of the best barbecue sauces I have ever tasted. The sides were also really top notch , the baked beans were my favorite followed by the corn. The French fries were also really good as were the cornmeal breaded onion rings. The baby back ribs were the meatiest I have never eaten . I loved the ribs but they weren't anywhere near the top of my list simply due to the way they cooked. I could tell they weren't smoked / cooked long enough at low temperature and probably cooked too quick at a higher temperature . The meat was a little dry and tough and I believe the cooking process is the reason , the wings were also a little dry and tough. If these ribs and wings were cooked on an outside smoker , with the quality of their sauces they would be world class 5 star.I would absolutely recommend this place and anything on the menu snd am looking forward to my next visit in August. Got a chain barbecue place this location is awesome!

Drive thru service continues to be awful. Missing sauces, items, and just all around sloppiness.

Nice atmosphere. Lots of seating. Corn biscuits very tasty. Chicken was so so. Like meat taken off a leg with no sauce.

My chicken shawarma was just meh because it lacked any real seasoning/spice. The ingredients are quality but the flavor was not there for me. I enjoyed the roasted veggies which were interestingly well seasoned. Service was friendly and prompt. The ambience is college town vibes (7 tvs each blaringly loud). Decor was nice with plenty of windows with natural light, wood tables and comfortable chairs (no arms on any of them) and bar stools. 1 star deduction for lack of flavor in sandwich 1 star deduction for WAY too loud TVs (excessive) exacerbated by Kitchen sounds

But spring break week flipped the script in the best way possible. Tonight, my wife and I met up with some good friends for a pre-retirement dinner, and with the college crowd scattered to the beaches, downtown felt like it belonged to us "seasoned locals" again. No lines, no crowds--just a quick call ahead and we were seated within minutes. That alone felt like a win. We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. It came out hot and packed with flavor, carrying just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overwhelming the dish. Exactly how I like it. My wife stuck with a proven winner: the shrimp & grits. She's had it before, and once again, it delivered. Consistency matters, and this dish continues to hit the mark every time. Now, not everything was quite as smooth. Our waitress wasn't exactly channeling that warm Southern hospitality you hope for. Let's just say she wasn't "Miss Dolly" serving smiles with a side of charm. The service leaned a bit on the impatient side--subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints that our time at the table was up, including clearing drinks before we were even finished. At one point I joked about going to the restroom but worried I might come back to find my chair gone. Still, when the food is this good, it carries the experience. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to spring break timing, the food was as strong as ever, and the company made it even better. As for the service... maybe she was just ready for her own spring break reunion. Happens to the best of us. Final takeaway: Go for the food--it's consistently excellent. And if you can catch a quieter night like this one, even better.
